Thank you everyone for the well wishes I've been walking daily which is nice, I look forward to getting into the gym again. That's a bit optimistic, I'd love just 2 hours of sleep in a night at this point.
Sacha: I so remember what that was like. The days and nights just seem to run together and it feels like you reside on a whole different dimension than the rest of the waking/sleeping world. It gets a little better around oh, three, four, YEARS! Just kidding. Every babe is different. I remember our first night with DS1 and it being our bedtime. I looked over at this little creature lying next to my bed and thinking, "K, now what do I do?"...no one every told me how to put it to sleep for "the night" It's all trial and error. And a lot of error at that. By the way, I'm totally enjoying his little photo. Goodness he's adorable. Love the nose and round cheeks. DS2 looked a lot like that too except he was uhm, bald. Blonde babes usually are.
Cheryl: Congrats on your PR. Seriously your goal is 300? Wow. Well, if it takes a few years...it's still pretty awesome. Your still pulling more than me so rock on!
Shannon: I'm so sorry about the loss of your parents dogs. Wow. That's really difficult. There are such important members of the family. Hope your weekend looks brighter.
Tiki: Go to bed at a reasonable hour. Its tempting for me to stay up late too. I've been known to study/work at 4:00am but always pay for it later in the week. Sometimes though it's the only uninterrupted time I can get. Kids....
Mel: Forgive me if I refuse to ever ride in the car with you as a passenger. Uhm. I will always insist upon driving. Wow. I'm so glad you are okay. I know it would have been far worse if I had the wheel. Wow. You have AAA right?
Nelie: I'm loving your CrossFit experience here. What will need to happen is for all of us to join the affiliates and then meet up at a challenge. How fun would that be.
So the swelling is beginning to subside. A little. Not quite as painful but I'm still icing it. Fortunately, this forced rest is great for the PF. It's doing MUCH better. I'm hoping by Monday I'll be in fighting form as Tiki says. And maybe the following week I'll call my own CrossFit affiliate to interview them. MAYBE. I just hate to give up control....although I'm bing lured by the Strength class on Sunday...That, I could do.... Mom needs to learn some new tricks.
Off to see DH tomorrow and I feel like a total spaz today. Maybe out of touch for the weekend.
Location: Lyin' in a puddle of sweat on the floor.

Shannon, sorry for the loss of the furry siblings.
Lydia, yeah, 300 is the big goal. A couple of the gals at our gym are over 300# 1RM deadlift, so I figure, why not me, and it's a nice number to shoot for...keeps me motivated.
Sacha, I remember, the first few weeks can be awful from lack of sleep/exhaustion. It will get better.
Okay, got to check the weather report. Supposed to be not raining and warm again today, so I might try to knock out two jobs that have been on the waiting list for nicer weather. Prolly will skip the gym if that's the case, so I can get an early start, since I will need all the daylight and dry weather I can get today.
Lydia227: Thank you He looks a lot like his daddy, even has the same bent ear and eyebrows. is right... being a mom and doing the night feedings/changing/consoling is the hardest thing I have ever done... and I've worked 7pm-7am rotating shifts for 6 years!!!!!
jamsk8r: I've heard it will get better, I look forward to that light at the end of the tunnel. Can't see it yet, but I pray it will come soon! July 1st is the start of it, when DH is finally on his paternity leave!!
Shannon: I'm so sorry to hear about the doggie. I love dogs. I love dogs more than people. Dogs never judge, they always have a warm heart, all they ask is a little walk, food, and a smile. Glad to hear she enjoyed up to 17 years.
This weekend's project (because I can't even make it to the grocery store right now, LOL)... diet! I've been flip-flopping back and forth as to what sort of meal plan/workout plans I'm going to do. I want lifting, but I want conditioning, and I need to work on this stomach. I have an incredible amount of loose skin
I think I'm going Crossfit!!! I originally thought of P90X but of course, the baby has taught me pretty darn quick that one hour of uninterrupted Tony Horton + shower + food is just not going to happen. Crossfit at home is of course, 3x shorter than P90X and just as awesome. I'm going to do Zone meal plan as well, just to make things a little easier. I wasn't going to do it at first because it didn't really jive with breastfeeding, but since I had to unfortunately give that up, I can do it.
I saw a CF shirt before that said "F*cking Burpees" and that is how I feel today. We learned overhead squat (which I can do!! without weight for now), kettlebell swings and burpees. Our warmup consisted of 400m run with some squats, pushups, pullups, etc then we practiced our new moves THEN we did our WOD.
200m run
21-15-9 of
OH Squats (with unweighted pvc)
KB swings (with 12kg KB - I switched to 8kg for 2nd and 3rd rounds)
Burpees
then 200m run
It took me just over 18 minutes but the burpees were killing me. It was the secondary trainer and he said something like 'burpees can ruin your day'.
Maybe. I saw a t shirt that said "say no to bucking furpees". I want that one.
Yesterdays' WOD wiped me out. Thrusters until you couldn't hold the bar, then 25 sit ups...rinse, repeat for 15 minutes. I rx'ed it at 65 pounds which didn't sound very heavy for the first 5 minutes. ASTOUNDING what a full body workout that is!
Work has been crazy since I got back, and I have to leave earlier and earlier due to major construction of the train station parking lot.
Sacha- I so remember those sleepless nights and sleepy days! but savor the time, it is all too fleeting.
I hate burpees... hate them hate them hate them. Darn effective though. I think the last circuit I did with them in it tweaked my lower back, has been sore since. Guess that means I had bad form, well, for pretty much all of them thinking back!
I see two different videos when I search, does the official burpee have the pushup in it or not?
From what I've been told, no there is no pushup involved with a burpee. Basic goal is to get flat to the ground as fast as you can and get up into the air as fast as you can. I guess the videos show what looks like a pushup but its not really.
Nelie,
this is not what I understand under burpees but then who know which version is the correct one. On Jackie Warner's DVD the burpees seem to be closely related to mountain climbers.
Mel,
So tell us how you met your DH? I somehow assumed that he strayed off to the US, met you and stayed there. But you said you lived in North York.
I am curious. (If it's not too much of a personal question).
Thanks for the video, Nelie. Either way I hate them. Mine start from standing, drop down into a squat with my hands on the ground, drive my legs straight back into plank, pushup down and back up into plank, pull legs back up into a squat with hands on the ground, spring back up into a jump. If I'm feeling punchy I do them with dumbells. I think I got that description from stumptuous...
I have exercised two days in a row now, so I'm feeling frisky. Ran on the treadmill on Tuesday, 2 miles of high incline and speed intervals in my 86 degree garage. I was done. Last night I did circuit 1 of Krista's Low Tech A** bustinig dumbell routine - DB Swing/15 lb, DB squat to OH press/15 lbs per hand, horizontal pullups - 6 rounds of 10 reps each in 19:43, then did 2x20 crunches and rode my stationary bike for 7 miles. Garage temp last night was 90.7. I thought I was going to die. I brought my clothes for an outside run this afternoon - temp will be higher, but at least there will be a breeze..
Two days back on the morning yoga train after a three day break. Everyone should start the day with pigeon.
A proper burpee is whatever results in the F word being repeated constantly. Officially, I think it requires a real push up but I've heard so much conflicting info... just do what gets done!
Even in the police fitness tests, we don't need a real push up, just get down and get up!=
We had a HUGE storm yesterday afternoon. I was stranded in center city because the trains weren't running. Found 3 other women headed my direction and we took a cab (looooong wait) about halfway out the main line, where dh picked us all up and drove them to their cars and me to mine. He's a keeper.
We had no power at home until about 3am trees and lines are down all over. Somehow our house and overgrown forest escaped any damage, but it really looks like a small tornado went through. There is half a tree lying across my neighbors lawn and it hit her roof on the way down. The food in the freezer upstairs was getting mushy so dh helpfully ate soupy ice cream. I'm worried about the hundreds of dollars of meat and fish in the chest freezer, but it's probably alright.
Missed Xfit and the elliptical and treadmill both need electricity, so yesterday's WO didn't happen except for morning cardio and lunch rehab/yoga. Today has to be easier!
Alena- Not too personal at all. I was a grad student at Michigan State and Dh was a perpetual co-op student at Waterloo working in Toronto when we met. My brother went to Waterloo and I met dh at a party when I was visiting my brother. After about 4 months of driving back and forth (in the winter) we decided we had to get very serious or say goodbye. I moved to Ontario 2 months later, and we got married 2 months after that when I received a letter from Canadian Immigrations asking me to leave. Then we had some hilarious times that looked just like scenes out of the old movie "Green Card" with Girard Depardiuex.
Mel - DH is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing your story, I had wondered how you guys got together, too.
Sacha - a your a police woman? Any my burpees fit, as they most definitely include the F word. Though often it is in my head, as I'm too out of breath to say it aloud...
4.5 mile run last night in 93 humid degrees... Like running through a warm bath.
