I'm too excited to read through the rest of the posts. First the rockin' car and now
ALEX!
Sacha HE IS BEAUTIFUL. JUST BEAUTIFUL. : Oh my. Enjoy him and these early days with your new babe. And....I do know what you mean by delivering him using the squat rack..lol. but its not something that's covered in the Starting Strength book specifically. Now go get some sleep.
Shannon: Rockin' car. Make sure you get your time in that Mustang. Love love love it. Really sorry about the windshield though. You are taking it much better than I would have.
Sacha - Congratulations! Beautiful baby! I'm fascinated by the delivery with the squat bar. Not fascinated to want to try it, mind you.
Rabbit - I am so much more bendy now than I was when I first started yoga. I'm dangerously close to being able to touch my toes at this point.
Cheryl - I need a house cleaning catch up day...
Nelie - DH's ex drives a Fit and she loves it, one of my managers drives a Mini Cooper, also loves it. The Fit is just so versatile.
Alena - hope the arm is doing better today! How is the yoga going?
Pat - ouch on the knee. And the terrible weather. We have been hot and sunny all day, then thunderstorms in the evening pretty much every day here.
Mel - enjoy your trip!
Lydia - I am totally loving the 'Stang. And am really mad about the windshield, but am trying to approach it from a more zen kind of place.
We had our first convertible outing with DSS last night. He seemed to very much enjoy it. Wanted Daddy to drive him to school today with the top down so people at school could see it. He is only 5 and it begins already...
Congrats Rabbitt!! I know you were grinning from EAR to EAR!!!!!
Who said PIE!?!?!?!
Shannon, i'm green with envy - top down riding is the BEST!!!!
Hi rest of gang!!
I didn't work out yesterday (had grueling dental work done) and I skipped this AM (too doped up from yesterday's dental drugs). I will get in a workout this evening, back and bis are due plus some cardio. There is a fair outside the window at my job so I was sent on a mission to purchase XXX food porn for several co-workers. I am pleased to report that I purchased NO such porn for myself!

Morning, all!
Shannon, meant to say that the new cars look great!
Rabbit, on DS's graduation!
So, first week of formal classes at our gym. (Previously we had an open gym, where you'd come in, do the warm-up at your own pace, then just as enough folks were ready to do the wod, a group would go together on the workout.) I was all set to hate the classes, but after a week, I have to admit, it's been really good for us. I do way more flexibility work and stretching in the class than I would do on my own, and the skill instruction has meant fewer form mistakes in the wod, since we're reviewing the movement drills (ex for the clean) right before the wod. On the downside, because of the skill drills, time has been too tight to fit in as much baseline fitness into the warm-up, like 2 or 3 rounds of squat, press, pull, abs, hips/back movements, which IMO are an important part of keeping my strength up (push-ups come to mind, especially), but I've decided that if that's still missing next week, I can just do that on my own, before or after class, or at home. The other thing I haven't had time for in the class is any goat or skills (stuff I suck at or goals I'm working toward) practice, so that's another one I'll likely have to do on my own. Overall, though, the class experience has been good, and the training even more excellent than it was before.
So, we're doing a 2 week trial of the classes, then will take a survey, and the owners will decide whether to continue, or to go back to the open gym format. I'm happy either way, so am not too concerned about which decision they make.
Today I'm doing the wod in the morning, then gym cleaning afterward. Hoping to get some stone lifting in, even if I have to do it while cleaning the gym. I need to be picking up that 155 lb stone, if I ever want to finish that 2010 goal of actually loading the beast on the 50" high platform, and I haven't lifted a stone all week, partly due to the class schedule, but mainly because the wallball wod pulverized me for a few days.
Went with my boy and my sister to see Karate Kid last night. I thought it was good, for what it was. My boy (13), of course, came out of the theater trying to kung fu everything in sight. I told him I could teach him kung fu, you know, pick up your dirty clothes off the bathroom floor, put them in the basket, put the dishes in the dishwasher. He didn't think that was funny at all.
How is it that The Girl and I both worked out, i cooked, she showered first, I washed, dried, & braided my hair, got dressed and yet she STILL isn't ready to shopping!?!?!? TEENAGERS!!!!! AAUUGGGHH!!!!!

lol!
Hey ladies, thought I should check in. Saturday we had a good workout. It was just the right kind of metcon, where you feel like you did something, but recovery was pretty quick. My trainer stayed after so I could try to load the 155# strongman stone onto the platform, which was one of my goals for 2010, and I got it this time! (woot!) Now, on to the 175#...
That's all the exciting gym news. Home today, rest day, so of course, a lot of laundry, house cleaning, and today, bathing my 2 dogs. Have to run out now to put gas in the truck, so I don't have to do it in the morning on my way to the gym. It's still raining and cold...I was in a turtleneck and sweater today. I'm ready for summer, any time!
Had a restful weekend myself. Food was bad, a celebration with eating out on friday which induced a comatose Saturday with no energy at all which ended in a sugar crave lasting through sunday. Sigh. no wonder I am in weight creep. I did go for a short run & swam in the pool afterwards, and mowed the lawn. I'm in stll finding myself turning to food for everything: pick me up from sugary things, procrastination for doing something else, and boredom.
Oh well, another day, and I'm biking to work today. I cannot believe it is june 21st already! It is like the month had just begun!
