I still have it as well, though I had more energy today. Not enough to workout, but at least enough to clean 2 flowerbeds and plant some annuals.

Good morning <---- for the first time in a week!

Yesterday bench pressing was our initial strength lift at Crossfit. Yikes..have my max weights gone down! I was being given high fives for 115 pds and my previous PR was 155 five years ago when I was actually TRAINING for bench presses. Another proof that the body adapts to specific training. Again, there is not particular reason that I need to bench more than my body weight, but I was disappointed.

On the flip side, I have a physical scheduled for tonight and I've already had all my blood work and scans done, and I know I'm in better health than I was even 2 years ago. In reality, that counts for more than numbers on a particular lift.

How is everyone else feeling? The crud was short-lived here. Hope you all are well!

115# is still more than most untrained men can press, and you haven't been training bench.

I am sure you haven't lost any strength and it is just a matter of getting your nervous system used to pressing again. I switched back to free weights from machines a few months ago and I lost 50# off of my free weight bench, even though I thought I was getting stronger on the machines.

Hi everyone! I have been totally slack in this thread this week. Thanks for the birthday wishes! The week sadly went downhill from there... Lots of drama at work, pounding headache all week, TOM and ick feeling, I've totally been in the sick and rundown group this week.... Still have some headache, but am hopefully getting to the bottom of the work drama. It has been UGLY. And is likely to get uglier if we find more evidence of wrong doing...

I've been okay with the workouts this week, bad with the food. Was going to get back on track yesterday, but had ice cream after DSS's pre-k graduation instead. SO, back on track today. I swear.

Sacha - great pic!

Back later!

Aw Mel that is a bummer, but it is incredible how specific training for one particular goal can really make a difference! At least you know that you can do 155 and blast that again one day

Thanks Shannon & everyone else. I have stopped weight training in the past two weeks, I can't do anything except presses with proper form. I look forward to getting back into it. I will be doing a stumptuous 4 day push/pull routine

Mel - 115# still sounds great to me, as my PR for bench press so far is 60#. Eek. I have to work on that! And you will definitely build back up fast if you keep at it, I'm sure.

Still marginally sick here.... At least it's here, and supposed to be close to 70 by Sunday. We'll see.....

I did manage a bike ride yesterday, and probably will again today. I can't even think about lifting right now. Hopefully by the weekend.

Hi all

Mel - Good job on the bloodwork & other stats (and 115 still sounds great to me!)

Shannon, Pat - hopefully the crud is lessening...

I had a very long day in Bruges yesterday, but today is off AND the start of another sunny 4 day weekend! I'm off shopping this morning, and doing gardening cardio next.

unfortunately my maintenance is not working out...still weight creep and still my motivation is over everyday when I get home from work. On the good side of things I have been able to actually stay up longer in the evenings & spend more time with the kids. We'll see where it goes from here.

have a great day all,
Rabbit

Good morning, all!

Sorry I have been absent. The husband graduated a week ago, and family was in town until Monday, and then I have had a to do list eight miles long since everyone left. Unfortunately that means that I haven't lifted in 8 or 9 days (depending on how you count it). Yet the last four days I've dropped pounds on the scale very rapidly. Could this be because of muscle loss? That's my guess. I also wonder if I'm going to have to start back at ground zero since I did two weeks and then have had more than a week of nothing. I guess we'll see today!

Mel--I can't wait to be able to say that I lifted even 100 lbs. on ANY lift! But I understand how it can be disappointing for you.

Shannon--happy belated birthday. I'm sorry that there's all that drama around you. Apparently I've been the opposite of you--good on the food, bad on the workouts! Maybe we can both get it together, um...together. Heh.

WaterRat--I hope you're feeling better.

Rabbit--Good luck with your maintenance. I know, though I've never been at goal weight, that maintenance is far harder than weight loss.

Eumie,
My guess would be that the weight loss was water related. Muscles retain water after lifting. You would not lose muscle in 8 days.

It's like pulling a weight sled, except that we use truck tires filled with dumbbells, which are HARDER to pull because the rubber and the asphalt have no friction.

Cardio done, stealth yoga at lunch, Xfit tonight.

I need a vacation! Dh is home from university and stays up all night. He didn't believe me when I told him I got up at 5am to workout then get to the train.

Saturday - my back really bugged me (it started Friday night just before I went to bed [WTF?!?] so I skipped TRX. It got better during the day so in the evening, I did P90X Shoulders and Triceps plus P90X Ab Ripper. I found out that the ab exercises were a lot easier on my back this time (I suppose because my internal temp had to be close to 40 C).

Sunday - yoga.

This morning - 40 minutes of cardio.
We expect horrible weather - hot and humid, exactly what I hate the most so I figured I better get the exercise done in the a.m. as I will have enough of just walking the fourleggers in the evening. Plus I have to finish some mulching that I started yesterday.

The Czech Republic beat Russia and snatched the gold medal at hockey world championship in Germany. Yay!!!

I was doing a search for something at 3FC and I accidentally unearthed some posts from last October when I was MIA.
Birchie - you are such a Skinny Minnie!
Mel - yeah, you are nothing but muscles (I had seen your pic before so I was not surprised. Thumbs up nonetheless. You could pull an entire tractor!

Mel - you getting enough sleep?? You mean rubber and asphalt have too much friction? ANd perhaps it's your DS that's home from school?

I am still AWOL from lifting. Today is bike riding, and I WILL be at the gym tomorrow!!
