Hey ladies, sorry I've been awol, but I've just been busy and not spending a lot of time on the computer. Things will hopefully be settling down now, since I've been missing my 3FC friends! Our gym hosted the CF Games NW Regionals and it took a little while to wrap up the details. It was held in a horse arena, though, so I'm predicting it will take us (the cleaning crew) about 3 months to get all the dirt out of the equipment and mats that were hauled there for the competition, lol.
I'm still doing CF, obviously, am starting to do some more strongman practice now that my biceps tendonitis has healed, and I'm doing my first 12K run June 12...2 weeks...yipe! I'm ready for the mileage, just not so confident of my time on those hills.
Nice Avatar Cheryl! It's great to hear from you. I totally understand how you could be amazingly busy. Good luck with your upcoming run. I'm so excited for you!

Nelie, I was just catching up on my reading. Hope your ear infection is better (or will be, soon!). Cool that you are joining a CF gym. I hope it will be fun for you! I really like the variety...I never get bored with the workouts, and I always have multiple skills/goals I can be working on. Don't fear the pull-ups. There's always a way to scale the movement down to something you can do.
Mel and Tomato, I still can't do the handstand kick-up. I had to totally lay off handstand practice for the tendon injury, now I'm thinking I should put them back in my warm-up schedule, and/or at home, to try and get that skill down. I think my biggest obstacle for all this gymnastics stuff is a weak midsection, so today I've been plotting out a plan for putting some focused effort into building strength and stability through the midsection. Gymnastics is gonna be my new best friend, even if it kills me!

Hello, ladies!
My sister and I are supposed to go run this morning, about 5 miles including a good portion of the 12K course I'll be running in 2 weeks. It's supposed to be sunny later, I think, which would be nice!

Hey Mel!
I did run the 5 miles through the park this morning. No sign of sun yet, but it was nice for running, cool and misty...if it wanted to be like that on June 12 for my 12K run, that would be fine by me, but it's historically been sweltering on that day, so I doubt I'll be that lucky. Oh well, I'll enjoy the sun except for that one day, lol. I saw a raven, which I haven't seen in probably fifteen years...shows how often I get out to nature-y places these days...sigh! The good news is, though the hills are slightly longer, none of them are near as steep as the hill I've been training on near my gym, so the hills were a piece of cake today. I did save the final hill to the finish, to keep it as a "surprise" for the official run. This run is notorious for the hills, so I'd be disappointed if there wasn't some kind of "shock and awe" to it, if that makes sense. I've wanted to run this since I started running, because it just seemed such an impossibly long way and the hills so hard to climb, so I kind of hope it's at least a little terrible, after all the suspense!
I probably won't be around much this week as BF is visiting and we both have the week off. Nothing romantic - we are working on the front yard that resembles a jungle. Lots of digging and pulling, even though only for 2.5 hrs a day. I refuse to be in the sun later past 10;30 am - it's horribly hot here. Gotta check the forcast. We have another toilet to replace and some flooring, too.
We went to Toronto last night and had amazing dinner with a friend in a little Thai place (lots of huge shrimp in my red curry shrimp dish) and I split it into 2 servings (I had tom yum soup yesterday before the main meal, also with shrimp). After dinner, we went to that fabulous little gelato place. I ham my usual combo - lemon and tiramisu. It was to die for even though not very OP.
His birthday is later in June so there also will be a birthday cake at the end of the week. Yikes.
I will check in & catch up when I can.
Bye for now.
Alena: Have a blast this week! Good plan not to work later into the afternoon. Hope the temps become more comfortable for the work that is ahead of you.
Cheryl: Awesomeness about your run! So, the hills probably are pretty challenging but your a CrossFitter. You TRAIN for these kinds of experiences. I'm certain your baseline at this point is much different than many other people you don't necessarily crosstrain in as many different ways as you do. Good luck with the final run!
I've been a little woozy the last three or four days. I've been given a anti inflammatory to treat the PF and it WEARS ME OUT! I take it at bed time and seriously, I'm no good until at least two in the afternoon. The upside is, the PF is improving.
K. Just finished a very conservative workout and in need of a shower. Hope everyone found a few hours of sunshine today.
Hey Cheryl! Missed hearing from you! Glad you enjoyed your run this morning, and hope the official one goes well!
I got a good workout in today - the WH belly off workout, day 1. I'm such a slave to written programs. After another week with no strength training it was tougher than I expected.
Alena - enjoy your trip!
Lydia - anti-inflammatories make me dizzy, too. Better not work on handstands until those are done!
Nelie - I may have an ear infection, too. I've avoided the doctor because I just don't want to know...
I just counted the days back to when I started my yoga focus - I have done 35-60 minutes of yoga 41 of the last 50 days... guess it is a habit now.
Howdy. Another hot and day here as well. I don't like to be out in the hottest part of the day either, and as I missed my opportunity this morning, I'll be doing a bike ride probably around 5 pm.
Not much excitement around here. We spent 2 days getting the garden prepped and planted. Now we just need to keep up the watering unless it ever decides to rain. Over 6 weeks with nothing.... Hard to complain though when it's so nice out.

Pat, you can have some of my rain! We did get a sunbreak this afternoon, though, so maybe things will be drying out...I can only hope, since the dogs have been dragging in the mud by the pound this weekend.
Shannon, good job on the workout. I need to add in more planks and such to my warm-ups.
Lydia, we don't really train for any distances over a mile, not regularly, and hills not so much, at my gym, but I definitely started with a higher baseline this year, I'm sure. I started in January, just on my own, putting in a longer run once a week with the (short but very steep) hill included. I'm glad I did that, because the hill used to just kill me, and now, I can keep running uphill, and while my breathing rate is faster, I'm still getting plenty of air so I don't feel like I need to stop to catch my breath or slow to a walk. My only goals for this 12K are to finish, and to run the whole thing...no walking! I also figured it would be good to give the old knees and tendons a little warning, before laying the distance and all those hills on them. I haven't had any problems yet, so hopefully I did enough to stay injury-free through the end of this!
Alena, have fun with the BF!
Today we did a memorial wod for Jack, who trained at our gym before I joined. It was horrible, as all Hero wods should be, but my trainer let me use the strongman axles (aka fat grip barbells) and do deads and push presses, which beats the heck out of thrusters, any day of the week!
