Oh Angela, , hope your sickies go away soon. I hate being sick just because it makes me feel blah and not want to do anything. Ok, I never want to do anything cause I'm a lazy bum, but I do that sick feeling. Feel better!
Echo - aww thanks! I went back to making lists like I used to 6 months ago. I had quite a few responsibilities and there were at least 10 things to take care of everyday, so I used to make lists and cross each thing off when I was done. I decided that even though I only have 2 things to take care of right now, I might as well make a list. Well, whaddaya know? The list increased to 5-6 things to do when I started to remember. Grrr. Anyway, I don't finish it everyday, but it feels REALLY good to cross things off.
and I know what you mean! when i was writing my thesis, i had lists and it felt really good to tick things off!! and when i was revising for my viva, i did the same thing!
Guess what Sunni. i head back from my examiners and they said. excellent submit your final thesis.
woohoo!! i still feel paranoid haha. like over night some gremlin might have hacked into my pdf and than when i send it to my brother to print it will all go horribly wrong haha
i'm being so silly, im procrastinating sending the final PDF thesis to my brother! he's gonna print it for me. and then i just have to get 1 soft bound and one hard bound. i dont think i will be able to relax, till the day i have actually HAND it in to the powers that be! but i'm just having a really hard time letting go of my thesis. so silly!
how did you feel when you handed in your final thesis? did you have a hard time letting it go and saying yes its DONE its finished and finalised. im being weird. i mean the examiners have given it the all clear. im just having a hard time letting it go now haha.
-- Angela, hope you feel better soon.
take plenty of rest!
Also the other day during a podcast i heard jillian talk about this really good natural remedy to battle out a cold and flu.
i wrote it down verbatim and saved it as a document. l
Quote:
Natural regiment for cold and flu.
Boost your immune system.
Natural immune boosters.
1. Vitamin C. 500mg every 2 hours.
500 – 1000 mg of vitamin C every 2 hours. If it upsets your stomach go to 500mg every 2 hours, make sure you have it with food.
- Has been shown to inhibit virus production
2. Take 23mg zinc lozenges along with your vitamin C. Promotes immune function. Don’t go excessive. Having a zinc lozenge very useful. (read the package dont go excessive)
3. Honey – anti bacterial properties. (have it in tea).
4. Elderberry extract – (sambucol) – boost immune system. Protect your body from viral and bacterial.
5. Vitamin A – 10,000 – 25,000 units.
6. Garlic – roast a clove of garlic for 45 minutes. Eat the whole thing. Garlic is amazing for immune system. Can get the same benefit from cooked as you can from raw.
7. Turmeric – 2000mg a day (2g a day)
8. Grape seed extract – 3 or 4 drops in 8oz water.
9. Salt /saline solution, help with decongestion
10. Tree tree oil – decongestion
11. Eucalyptus oil in the shower, good decongestion
12. Echinacea
only do the above remedy when you HAVE the cold or flu.

for the flu particularly--you should try coconut oil. It destroys lipid membrane bound viruses. The best way to explain it is by telling you about fleas. When you go to wash your pet, why don't the pesky things just drown??? well, the answer is...they sense the water and blow a fat bubble around themself. So that they can survive the water. If you wet a pet before lathering---your flea rememdy is less effective. You have to lather first so they don't sense the water. Well for strains of the flu virus--it is particularly hard for our immune system to get to them because they coat themselves in a "fat bubble".
Coconut oil has a very important substance in it. another source of this substance is breast milk. Lauric Acid. This is converted to monolaurin. The monolaurin can get through the "fat bubble" and stop the virus from replicating. Same as if you smother a flea or louse with an oily substance (I believe the favorite lice treatment is mayonnaise) You smother them before they can make their "fat bubble".
I am speaking from experience here. I live in SC, where one of the earlier strains of swine flu was documented in a day care. It spread like fire around here. And my normally never sick son caught it. The exact symptoms.
Rapid onset dry cough ( he was fine all day, then started coughing at night)
Then woke up sore all over and with the symptoms
Fever, headache , malaise
sore throat
upset stomach
I started him on coconut oil and garlic oil. He took it internally and I rubbed it on his chest and feet and ears. Within 2 hours he went from pathetic to running around with a low grade fever. It stayed 99 all day. I kept up the regimen for 3 days. He was only sick the first day though.
People try to tell me there was no way my kid had what their kid had.(sick for a week or more)...I try to tell them about the remedy, but they just get mad.
important vitamins: Zinc, Vitamin C (if you smoke, you need more), Vitamin A.
other important things: probiotics--your immune system is largely compromised in the gut. (gut problems depress your immune system)
Hey Sunni - i did it! i finally emailed the FINAL corrected thesis pdf file to my brother! i must have checked the pdf file like 10 times haha and i kid you not, took me 30 minutes to actually hit the SEND button on the email!
anyways im so happy i have sent it now. now my brother will print it next week.
so i'm taking the day off tommorow! going to treat myself and go to the cinema, and then meeting my best friend for dinner. going to gourmet burger kitchen - i found a voucher and going to convince my friend to go there instead. hehe

Hey ladies... thanks for all the tips.. I was sent home from work this morning as I was absolutely useless..lol and I spent the majority or my day sleeping. I have however tried 1000mg Vit. C and 1 Zinc lozenge every 2 hours.. and I am feeling so so much better.. so that definately WORKS! Once I have knocked this bug out completely I will be keeping 1000mg + 1 Zinc lozenge in my daily diet.. not every two hours of course... but one dose of it daily to try to ward off another bug.... That one pound I had gained is not gone and a loss is in its place.. when I weighed this afternoon I was 202.4 so yay! ..lol tomorrow if I can get to the grocery I think I am going to try to get some coconut oil... thanks so much Echo and Jen.. and garnet and Sunni I am hoping that by the weekend I will be able to exercise at the very least... starting to get kinda light headed here so I am going to say g'night and see you all tomorrow! night night!
L: 6 inch subway veggie delight with cheese and olive oil
S: 1 small soy au lait
D: 1 large spring mix salad with 1 sliced granny smith apple, 1/4 cup craisons, 1/4 cup light cheese mix, 1.5 tsp olive oil and lemon juice, 1 slice homemade pumpkin bread with 1 tbsp cranapple butter (so good and 20 calories!)
S: 3 dark chocolate raspberry sticks
No exercise for today, but I'm not feeling too bad about it since I made it Sun. - Tues. Back to the gym tomorrow!
Angela - great to hear you're feeling better! I just tough out a cold/flu. I hate traditional medication and I don't have any vit C around the house. Coconut oil I can get though, so I'll keep that around to use when I do have a cold. Thanks for the info, jendiet!
Echo - WOOHOO!!! Congrats on submitting your thesis!! I need to get mine bound as well, but I'm not rushing it or anything. We have to do it on our own and nobody will ask me for it so um...who cares? I have the pdf to send off to people who want to see it. I want to switch out the figures with the MUCH nicer ones I have in my paper so I'm waiting for that to get accepted before I switch 'em out and get it bound. Definitely going for the black leather with gold lettering, you?
I was happy to hand in my thesis, but I was and still am (to an extent, I'm learning to overcome) P'oD at my ex-boss. He was/is completely useless and really out of the loop. I won't go into details but I just wanted to get out of the lab and move on to something bigger and better. Actually, ANYTHING lab would be something bigger and better. I'm applying to labs in top-level universities with a slim chance I know but I really want to receive awesome training (for once). That's probably more than you cared to know, but I guess it was itching to come out, haha.
P.S: I saw my LOWEST weight EVER today after my workout (154.4!!!). I'm sure it was because of my sweating (water weight) because right now I'm 158.2 and I usually lose 2 lbs overnight and after a visit to the bathroom hehe so blergh. Still not at the 155 point. I just realized I'm 6 lbs away from the high limit of my healthy weight range. BUT I'm going to push it even harder this week and see if I can bring it down to a low 155.
I just got hooked on The Biggest Loser. I've never watched it before but I did today just for kicks and I got through eps 1 - 4. All I have to say is I hate Tracey. Homegirl is just asking for a kick in the face.
Night all!! Have a great night and see you all tomorrow!

aww Thanks Sunni!!! really appreciate that!
The university of london stipulates that we have to have blue covering with gold letters. i hope you get a kick *** job!! i can definately empathesise with you with regards to your sup situation. i know what you mean.
i love biggest loser - glad you're watching it Sunni. lol i know tracey, is CRAZY!! lol
So I discovered that my workout DVDs play on my laptop today. What does this mean? This means that I don't have to stress if I need that extra half hour of sleep in the morning because I can take my laptop and the dvd with me to work. Yay! In fact, I worked out why the kid slept today. It worked out fine. ^^
Thanks everyone!! I am feeling better yet again this morning.. just stuffed up.. hopefully this will last.. I am going to keep up the1000mg of VitC and Zinc Lozenges again today and maybe tomorrow.. till i knock it right out.. I am so happy everyone is having a good week so far.. and Sunni yea I know.. Tracy poor thing God bless her soul but she needs to seek some serious professional help. I get so frustrated just listening to her.. lol garnet thats great about being able to do your wrk outs at work!

Thats awesome Angela!! its good to know that the remedy Jillian was talking about worked. lucky i had listened to that podcast! my mom is feeling under the weather for the past few days so im going to get her some vitamin C today and zinc lozenges.
thanks for being my guinea pig! your a trooper for trying it out.
also if its upsetting your tummy, go down to 500mg of vitamin C. Jillian did say that in 3 days you should feel better.
Woohoo Angela! Glad you're better and good job on the weight loss (forgot to mention it last night).
And yes, Tracey is cuh-razee. I hate listening to her too, she sounds like a rabid chihuahua. Um. This might offend some BL fans on here, but does anyone think they cry too much? Everytime someone says something, the tears come out. Maybe I'm too macho (?), but I thought it was excessive. When they first talked about their stories and when they're fighting to stay there, I feel emotional too, but while they're exercising? Come on people, tough it out. I like when Jillian gets in their face, she's a lot like me - I'd just scream at them and tell them to get their butts on there. Haha.
So I weighed in this morning at 156.2. Blast! I think I'll record my post-exercise weight because that's the only thing that's been decreasing steadily. A few weeks ago it was 156.3 (the lowest!), Tues it was 155.3 and yesterday it was 154.4. Yet this morning, it's 2 lbs up. I guess my dinner has a lot to do with it. Another thing is I'm going to try and limit my raisin quota. I ate a cup last night. Today I'll limit it to 1/2 a cup and see where that gets me.
Today's planned confession. (Everything done will be bolded and green)
Lunch - 2 tortillas, one with chicken curry and one with leftover cauliflower and potato 1 healthy choice steamer
Dinner - omelette (1 egg white + 1 egg yolk, salt pepper, 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper, 1/4 cup chopped mushrooms, 3 green chillies, some dried basil & oregano), 2 slices of bread
Dessert - 6 cashew squares
Exercise - 20 lunges, 20 squats 3.4 mile walk
Looks do-able. Now all I have to do is er do it.
Sigh, I was right in thinking I overate today. I need to rethink my game plan...
