my confession. i ate alot of low calorie high volume food today
wanted to up my fibre aswell!

Sunni would know this. ate saag today which is a indian dish - a slow cook of combo of spinach, mustard greens and brocoli.

i bought some romaine lettuce yesterday, which is great, my favourite lettuce and has lots of great nutrition.

total calories eaten today is 1075. lower than 1200 but its midnight now, so debating whether to have a small snack before bedtime or not. will see how i feel.

but its okay, i had two high calorie days yesterday and day before at around 1800 calories each. so will balance out. plus took a rest day today, felt tired today. must be cause of the walking i did yesterday.

also had a treat today, i had an old fashioned glazed donut from krispy kreme,that i bought yesterday and to be honest! and i cant even beleve this myself - it just didnt taste as good as i thought it would! so i realised its not all that!! i used to love them, but i dunno i just thought it tasted ordinary... so i made a note of it in my food diary so next time i am tempted i will remember that its not all that!

i also had 200ml of chocolate milkshake which is around 167 calories... mm which i love lol
i bought some champagne flutes yesterday lol i dont drink alcohol, but i love those glasses, so i had my chocolate milkshake it in, hehe i like drinking things in fancy glasswear lol. i also have a martini glass and a wine glass. lol

i give myself a 200 calorie ish allowlance to have treat foods that way i dont feel deprived and i get a treat everyday.
--

well i'm calling it a day. i've decided the kitchen is closed. dont think will be eating anything tonight.

tommorow am planning on doing jillian michaels 30 day shred, levels 1, 2 and 3!

my heart rate monitor hopefully should be arriving on friday. no doubt it will take me a full day just to figure out how to work the thing, but i cant wait to get it and start using it

night night everyone!

Hey Everyone... K so I have been derailed big time!!!! I had major cravings for doiritos last night and today and chocolate.. which I indulged in BOTH! AGH I haven't done that since July!! I am disgusted and mad at myself... I feel discouraged even though I know I just have to get right bac on track.. which will be easy as I feel so BLAGH since eating all the crap. I am not sure why I thought it okay.. but I know i justified it at the time... but tomorrow is a new day.. I am getting the winter blaghs already.. and we do not even have snow yet.. just cold weather and dreary days .. it is pitch dark by the time i get off of work and I am wanting my bed by like 8pm... gggrrr!
Echo.. this drink is brewed dandelion teabag in 16oz of water then add 2tbsp of lemon juice and 1 tbs no sugar added cranberry juice .. and it tastes pretty good! The lemon and the cranberry really help... I even look forward to it now.. lol
I am feeling somewhat better.. i finish the antibiotics tonight and then I have an apt. to go back to the Dr. next Tuesday morning to discuss the next steps in finding out what it is. He is thinking and assuming it is one of three things diverticulitis, crohns or celiacs ... Tuesday i will know what comes next.. he has told me that i will have to have a colonoscopy to get an accurate disgnosis though... o fun fun LOL

Hi Everyone, thanks for the Welcome.

I tweaked my breakfast and lunch today. I ate lunch at 12:00 and I was hungry at 2:00 and my stomach was in full growl at 3:00. I do not normally have this problem. I drank a glass of water and it went away. We ate dinner at our regular time and I was fine. I didn't list my water because that is not a problem with me. I drink tons of water. Here's my confessions:

Breakfast:
Omelet (I am out of spinach, but I normally add a handful to my omelet)
spritz olive oil in pan
egg 70 cal
egg whites from carton 60 cal
2% cheese 40 cal
high fiber english muffin 100 cal
honey 60
coffee w/sugar and cream (cal don't matter here )
juice 100 cal

Lunch:
Sandwich (I normally use 2 pieces of pump. bread, but I only used one today)
1 piece of Pumpernickle bread 80 cal
Light swipe of mayo ? cal
Romain Heart leaves (lettuce)
1 slice 2% cheddar 60 cal
4 slices Hormel Naturals lunch meat 60
Cape cod 40% less fat small bag chips 100 cal

Dinner: Cracker Barrel
1 cup cabbage beef soup
grilled chicken tenderloins sandwich
lettuce
tomato
no mayo
taste of coleslaw

On my lunch I normally eat 2 pieces of cheese and 2 pieces of bread. I changed to 1 of each and I was hungry. Do you have any suggestions or should I try this for a couple days and see if my body adjusts?

Workout Confessions:
One week I do Leslie walking workouts and the next I do Turbo Jam. I thow in toning workouts in the mix. I think I was getting a little worn because I only took 4 days off from working out in 45 days, so I am taking a break from toning this week.

Today I did Leslie AHA 3 Mile Walk

Hey everybody!

Echo, congrats on getting into the 150s! Wow, you must look amazing at 5'7!" I also just noticed that you have your PhD, and I just have to say that you are a rock star! Also, "Making the Cut" is different from the 30 Day Shred, although substantially similar. I guess the main difference is that it is a book, as opposed to a DVD, so I do it at the gym. I have all her books - I even was all paranoid and organicy (new word!) after reading "Master Your Metabolism." I tried to keep going organic, but I am between jobs, so it got expensive. When I start working again, though, I fully intend to do as much organic eating as possible, mainly because of that book!

Diana, sounds like you stayed on plan, good for you! You asked about the sandwich not filling you up - what kind of bread are you using? I use Ezekiel everything - tortillas, english muffin, bread, even pasta. It is completely grains, no flour, and it is a bit of an acquired taste, but once you get used to it, it really rocks! I find it very filling, because it has quite a bit of protein to it as well. I also try to pile as many veggies as possible on the sandwich, because that fills you up, too. I go for bell peppers, dandelion greens (another acquired taste), tomatoes, cucumbers, artichoke hearts, avocado, you name it. That helps a lot too, and gets your veggies in at the same time!

Cape - hey, don't worry about the backslide. You just gotta pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep going. That's what I did after last Saturday's major binge - just got right back on plan. You can too, and it happens to everybody. You can do it!

Ok, now here are my confessions:

B: 3/4 cup organic flax circle, 4 oz almond milk, 1/4 cup 0% Greek yogurt.

L: 1/2 Ezekiel english muffin topped with 1/4 cup marinara, 1/4 mozzarella cheese; 1/2 Ezekiel english muffin topped with 1 laughing cow wedge and 1 tbsp. pumpkin butter (yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!)

S: Biggest Loser Protein 2 Go - one packet, mixed with water. Three candy corns and a tootsie roll.

D: Applebee's Garlic Chicken (on the WW menu, only 370 cal) and strawberry cheesecake shooter (not on the WW menu, was 300 cal).

Total calories: 1,382.

Exercise - walking, 5.2 miles, 30 minutes circuit training ("Making the Cut"). Total calorie burn for the day, per the bodybugg: @2,350

Great job today, everyone! It's always inspiring to see how well you all are doing!

My confessions for today:

B: 2 kashi go lean waffles with 1 tbsp reduced fat jif and a drizzle of honey

L: 1 morningstar chik patty, 1 cup green beans, 1/8 cup cinnamon almonds

S: 1 100 calorie bag of popcorn

D: 1 scrambled egg with 1 tbsp ketchup, 1/2 cup soycutash (a mix of soy beans, corn, and bell pepper), 1 piece whole wheat toast with 1 tsp ICBINBL

I may have an ice cream bar or some chocolate later to get up to the 1500 cal I was aiming for today, but we'll see what happens.

E: 10 minutes stationary bike, 35 minutes treadmill

Hi Jillianfan, the bread is Pepperidge Farms Pumpernickle bread. Maybe I should look for something where I can get 2 pieces of bread for less calories and maybe more fiber and protein in it. I can also add more of the romaine lettuce. I will take a look at the Ezekiel bread. I used it at one time and then it became hard to find. I'll check it out. I need to add more veggies too, (I normally have spinach with my omelet in the AM, but I ran out). I appreciate the suggestions.

NP, Diana, I hope that they help! Oh, and look for the Ezekiel breads in the frozen foods section. They aren't usually on the shelf, because they spoil too easily, having no preservatives and all.

They aren't necessarily lower calorie - the bread is about 80 calories, the English Muffin is 200 per muffin - but I find them incredibly filling.

Good luck!

Angela - hope everything goes okay at the doctors next tuesday. glad you're feeling better.
that tea does sound rather tasty! and its such an awesome liver cleanse! good for you for drinking it!
and i totalyl hear ya on the doritos, i had a major binge on sunday , ate 500 calories worth of doritos in one sitting!! and ate 1000 calories OVER my limit, hot chocolate and other stuff like cookies, had like nearly 3000 calories in a day. so dont worry, we all have binge days, its normal. weight loss is a road paved with bumps along the way. with ups and downs. but as long as you keep going, thats all that matters.

is like what jillian michales always says, you have 1 tire puncture, no big deal, fix the tire and keep moving. but dont go and slash all the other 3 tires, its just one binge, no need to worry about it ,just keep moving forwards. you're doing great Angela!!! forgive yourself, it was only 1 binge and sometimes i think we cant help but do it. i dont know why i did it, all i knew is i really wanted all them doritos lol.

Diana - what i personally do is load up on high volume low calorie foods, like lots of salads and veggies, like JF rightly said. that should help you feel more fuller without going over your calorie intake.
also i'm a balanced oxidiser, so i need a combo of carbs and protein for each meal. if i just eat carbs, i will be hungry within an hour!

great job today Diana!

Emily - awwyou're so right - its inspiring ,. great job yourself Emily !

Thank you so much JF!! you're so nice to say that. i REALLY appreciate it! i had a big smile on my face today ! thank you!!! jillian michaels really helped me in my last month or so preparing for my viva. i was soo scared i was going to fail and would freeze out of panic and couldnt study. and i would remember jillians voice booming FEEL THE FEAR DO IT ANYWAY so i would study even though i was fearful of failing and i even wrote it on a postit and stuck it ontop of my computer so it would remind me, and i would listen to her podcasts and it really helped me, especially this one about how she talks about "is it worth it to you?"
"if i said run on this treadmil for 1 hour and tommorow you will wake up 100lbs lighter tommorow, would you do it?" and the caller said "yes" then she explained how everything you do everyday will bring you that closer so one morning when you wake up, you WILL be 100lbs lighter,
and i adapted it to thinking, obviously i cant study all my papers and books in one day but bit by bit i can study and then one day before my viva i will have accumulated all my studying.

i really want to write to her one day and thank her. she really changed my whole life! shes such an inspiration to me, im so thankful to her. also i was listenting to her podcast just before my exam! and during my oral defence, i felt i was chanelling her ! i had all this confidence , and it was cause i was like, im just gonna pretend that im jillian michaels and pretend that im confident. hehe

ahhh i see, thats cool! you know you're so right, i've learnt so much from Jillian Michaels! i love how she says people tend to channel her and how its normal to do that because you want to be like them and i find myself talking like her about issues about weight loss etc and getting really passionate about it haha

a friend of mine wants me to help her lose weight but i told her, i gotta warn you im tough! i am going to help devise a plan for her and keep on her tail. i'm doing the same for my cousin also, and she lost a pound last week and she was so happy cause shes not been able to lose anything for a very long time, and she has what are known as vanity pounds to lose. shes so happy she kept thanking me, and i told her, you did the work! i just gave you a nudge hehe

i totally understand eating organic is really expensive. i cant afford it at the moment, only the odd things like romaine lettuce. biut things like brocoli i just buy normal, because she said you dont have to worry about brocoli being organic as they dont put many pesticides on them as they dont have that many pests or something.
and then you can eat fruits that have thick skins on them, like bananas etc and they dont need to be organic.

i just did a quick google

Quote:
Of the 43 different fruit and vegetable categories tested, the following twelve foods do not have to be organic. These had the lowest pesticide load, and consequently are the safest conventionally grown crops to consume from the standpoint of pesticide contamination:

* Broccoli
* Eggplant
* Cabbage
* Banana
* Kiwi
* Asparagus
* Sweet peas (frozen)
* Mango
* Pineapple
* Sweet corn (frozen)
* Avocado
* Onion

my heart rate monitor arrived today! i am so happy ! i absolutely LOVE IT!!!

didnt take me long to set it up and its totally comfortable to wear!! and really motivated me and inspired me during my workout.

i did jillian michales 30 day shred levels 1 2 and 3.

i love my polar f7f! it tells me how many calories i'm burning, and what percentage of my HR i am at, its awesome, its my new shiny toy hehehe. i love it!

my stats from my workout is as follows:

jillian michaels 30 day shred level 1 2 3
total time = 1 hour 25 mins

total calories burned = 703 (45%fat)

time spent in light zone 30 minutes
time spent in moderate zone = 32 mins
time spent in hard zone 22 minutes

time spent in the zone: 151-169 bpm= 22 minutes.

max HR achieved = 88%
average HR = 72%

i know jillian says that we should workout at 85% of our maximum heart rate, that is tough! most of the time i was at around 75% but yah i could feel it when i was at 85% i'm so happy that it arrived today!

i was actually looking forward to working out so i could test it out hehe

funny thing is my calorie estimates from the website (below that i used), when i chose high impact aerobics the last time i did jillian 30 day shred, said i burned 708 calories. so the website aint bad at all- in giving you a rough idea!

Hey Echo! You really are a rock star - burning all those calories in one session! You go!

I know what you mean by Jillian changing your life. She changed mine as well. I know that her big theme is you need to find your truth. I am having trouble with that right now, careerwise. I don't feel like I have a direction anymore, which is may seem strange, because I am a lawyer. Was a lawyer, anyhow. I moved from Missouri to California, so, unless I want to sit through another 16 hour exam to become a lawyer in California, I am not considered to be a lawyer anymore, which is just as well. I was tired of it anyhow.

But, if I can ever figure out what to do to get this diet and exercise thing downpat, I would love to do something in this field. Helping others shed weight, I mean, and get healthy. I have no idea how to do that, without more schooling and I really don't want to get anymore schooling, so I just feel stuck. But I listen to Jillian, and she tells me that I need to find a passion or I won't be happy, I'll just be comfortably numb, which is what I guess I am right now. So, I don't really know what direction to take. I guess I will have to figure it out.

Ah, feeling blue.

What do you have your PhD in? I think that it is so fantastic that you got through that!

Anyhow, onto my confessions. I actually did pretty well, eating-wise. Calorie-burning-wise, not so much - less thatn 2,100. I find that simply being more active throughout the day - going to the store, doing housework, moving around, burns more calories for me than if I do a planned workout and am inactive through the rest of the day. So I am looking forward to getting back to California, because I tend to be a lot more active there throughout my day then I am here in Missouri. But here goes:

B: One Ezekiel English Muffin. One side of the muffin had 1 tbsp. of almond butter and 1/2 tbsp. of low sugar cherry preserves and the other side had 1 tbsp. neufchatel cheese and 1/2 tbsp. low sugar cherry preserves.

S: Stopped at whole foods and had to try their food demonstration. It was two crackers and about 1 tbsp. cream cheese mixed with some kind of preserve they were trying to sell. It was allright.

L: 1/2 pita, 2 tbsp. hummus (really yummy hummus too!); 1 cup of pure pumpkin mixed with 1 cup greek yogurt and one tbsp. Xylitol; 1 oz blue corn chips and salsa.

D: English muffin pizza - 1/2 english muffin, 1 oz mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, 1/4 cup marinara.

E: Walking, 60 minutes.

Total calories consumed: 1,203.

Total calories expended: @2,000

Deficit: around 800

I didn't really feel hungry today, so that was good. I just feel blah, so that's not so good. But I didn't try to feel better by eating a slice of the chocolate cake downstairs that is calling my name, so its all good!

ok, i'm not posting my food journal, it is good though. After my night cap hot cocoa it will be 1250 calories.

My confession is this. When I found out I am losing my 4.0 GPA. I wanted to eat a brownie fudge sundae with sprinkles on top along with a box of jujubes.

But I didn't. I drank a cup of hot cocoa with a splash of alcohol to take the edge off.

My other confession is we had grilled deer loin, fire pit potatoes, and salad. When I got done with my baked potato I wanted another one. SO BAD. Then my son didn't want his potato skin, so I took both of them and ate them instead of having another one. I was still hungry so I ate more salad.

another confession: I sneered at the "diet" foods at the grocery store again...Blech!

This is more fun than a Catholic Confessional! <--- raised Catholic.

I exercised today: I walked the neighborhood for 30 minutes--I felt I needed to push myself to 45, but pushed myself to 35 instead.

I came home, and put together my "gym" and worked out a spell...and it felt really good.

I lusted over sketchers shape ups for a good hour or so.....

My steps are 11,548 for today and 551 extra calories burned.

Hi Everyone, I missed being here since the forums have been down.

I'm not going to post my foods from the last two days. I will just say that my eating has been on track. Saturday is normally my higher calorie day. I modified my breakfast and luch. For dinner I ate a lot less than I normally would. I am happy that I stayed on track.

I went to the grocery store today to find a better bread that I can use for my sandwiches at lunch. Hopefully I will like it. I will continue to look for something even better. Here's the numbers:

Old bread - I used to eat 2 slices and I modified to 1 slice and it's not very satisifying.
1 slice 2 slices
Cal 90 180
Fiber 1 2
Protein 3 6

New Bread
2 Slices
Cal 80
Fiber 5
Protein 5

Exercise Yesterday: Leslie's 3 Miles Weight Loss Walk and Jump Rope 100 times.

I copied and pasted this from my exercise check in yesterday: I have a jump rope that I used in high school when I originally lost 100 pounds. It has a counter on it that goes to 999. This was the exercise I did at that time. I would jump rope 1000 times most days. Fast forward, I don't have problems using an invisible jump rope, but a real jump rope is a whole other ball game. I jumped 100 times today. Where do you think I felt it? I was really surprised that when I finished that it felt like I had done 100 sit ups. I felt it in my abs. I couldn't believe it.

Exercise Today: Walk Your Belly Flat 3 Miles

I can't believe how sore my abs are today from jumping rope yesterday. I think I will try to do this 3x per week 50 count.

Jendiet If you don't mine me asking, where are you in SC? I'm in Charleston. I'm sorry about the GPA. You obviously have worked very hard. Is one of your classes really difficult? When I went back school, I was also working full time and sometimes I would end up with some of the hardest professors. I had to take the classes that worked with my schedule. I got through it though and earned my BS degree. One professor/class was so bad that I actually broke down and started crying during class and walked out. I came right back and did well. It was one of the fast forward type classes. I thought I was going to have a nervous break down! It sounds like you still did well with your eating today and you got your exercising in. Great job!
