Cheers Antari,
Just realised we have practically the same amount to lose! How long have you been on slimming world. I'm just starting my 4th week (but did 6 weeks previously on Lipotrim). I guess we've got a long road ahead - quite a few months - but it's lovely at the moment cos loads of people are noticing the change in me and commenting on it - it's such a great incentive :D

By the way - do you (or anyone else on 3FC) know of anything not toooooo bad syn-wise that I can eat at a Chinese restaurant. I am being taken out by work for a pre-wedding lunch :) but unfortunately they chose one of the few places where I won't be able to get a salad or a jacket spud :( Any ideas??? ff x

Newbie

Hi all came across this website and think this thread is fab :carrot: I've been going to Slimming world 13 weeks and I've lost 2stone 13lbs. Weigh in night for me is a Wednesday and I'm sooooooo determine to loose that 1lb next week to reach my 3 stone:dz:. I advise people to stay to the talk and take tips off of other members. I've a long way to go yet but with the help and support from other memebers at my SW group and here I'm sure I will get there in the end.

Keep up the good work with the messages on here :bravo:

When you go to your SW meeting have a look they may have the leaflet there if not have you tried the website I will have a nose around the junk in my house in the mean time to see if I can find it!! I would thing at a guess....Rice and Noodles on a green day would be ya best bet but thats me guessing. I'd save up me syns and scoff me face if it was me LOL

Hi Minniemo! Good luck on that pound next week :) I'm sure you'll do it!

Fighting flab and Antari, they're great losses, I wish you'd lose a few for me ;)

I just had a look on the Body Optimise (SW) site and they suggested that if you're going for a chinese, to make sure you're on a green day (which is fairly obvious really!) and fill up on boiled rice and a sauce that is full of vegetables. I'd probably go for something like Special vegetables with cashew nuts (yummy) because if you've been good with your Healthy Extras all day, then you can count some of the nuts in that. That way, it's really just the sauce you have to worry about.

If you're going for a starter, then maybe one of the soups would be a good option. They're thickened with egg which is free of course, but I'm not sure how the other ingredients are cooked. :)

Hi fighting flab

Been on Slimming World for 9 weeks now, losing weight slowly but steadily. Mind you, at this rate it will take me a whole year to get down to target! :dizzy:

As everyone else says they do have a book at the classes that lets you know which is the best meal to go for when dining out. I don't go out for meals very often but have to be honest.........I am totally fed up with jacket spud, beans and salad, so maybe I should have a look at this book too!

Keep up the good work! xx

fighting flab 04-20-2007 03:49 PM

Thanks to Minniemoo, Bits & Antari

Hi Minniemoo,
A belated welcome to 3FC  You've had terrific weight loss and I'm sure you'll make your 3 stone milestone by next weigh in. I like staying to listen to the talk too - I enjoy hearing how much people have lost and getting ideas from what they are eating.

Hi Bits,
I love the idea of the special vegetables with cashew nuts - sounds wonderful - mmmmmmm :T  I'll have a little look on the SW site and see if I can find any info re Chinese food. Cheers!

Hi Antari,
All the magazines and diet "experts" say a slow and steady weight loss is much healthier for you and you are more likely to keep the weight off. I took the speedier route for the first 6 weeks simply because of my wedding looming and I looked like a sack of spuds :( looking much better now :)

I know what you mean about getting fed up eating the same things. Are you a vegetarian/vegan? Do you always do green days? If not, I will share a couple of meal ideas with you. I love poached egg on toast (but I try to limit myself to 2-3 eggs per week max despite SW saying they're free). I tried a tin of Princes liver and onion gravey (free on Original - but I know not everyone likes liver) - it was lovely and the gravey was fab. I poured the gravey over a plate of broccoli and cauliflower - yum - but any veg would do of course. Tonight I had one of my Original favourites - wholewheat pasta (healthy extra b), salmon fillet & plenty of prawns (free), 28g olives (1.5 syns), and 73.5g Homepride white wine & cream sauce (3 syns). I add just a drop of boiling water to the mixture when it's nearly done to thin the sauce a little and make it go a little further (hey  I've just thought - may be a couple of spoonfulls of fromage frais would be better - I might try that next Friday). That's my Friday night treat meal and at only 4.5 syns - that's a healthy treat :)

Thanks to you all re the SW eating out book - didn't know about that - I'll have a look next Tuesday. I'll definitely make it a green day - it would be good if I could check out the menu before so I could make some wise decisions but I've looked on the web and it's not there - oh well - I am now armed with a few suggestions and hopefully the book will give me a few more so I shouldn't have too much trouble.

Thanks so much for your suggestions - I love this site :D
Oops - sorry for the mammoth post :o
Love ff x

fighting flab 04-20-2007 04:07 PM

Another red recipe

Ooooh I just thought of another red recipe that I've enjoyed in the last few weeks - either pork cut into strips, or chicken, or quorn pieces, or fish/prawns stir fried in a little fry light with mixed peppers and onions. You can do loads and it's comletely syn free :D :carrot: :D love ff x

Minniemoo 04-20-2007 04:14 PM

gr8 brekkie/evening snack!!!

my favourite supersize breakfast at the moment is plain couscous (pour boiling water over it and wait for it to expand in about 3 mins), spread it out over a dinner plate, top with 1/2 box of the defrosted raspberries (can be done in the microwave also in about 3 mins) or fresh, (you can do these with other fruits aswell tnoight i had it with banana) add sweetener. The next topping is fat-free fromage frais (again sweetener) and 1/2 or 1 whole pot of Müllerlight vanilla yoghurt. A completely free meal on Green without using up any healthy extras!
I've just had this and I'm stuffed :cb:
It really is yummy:)
Thank you all for your welcomes etc

bits 04-21-2007 05:09 AM

FF - I love mammoth posts, they're great to read! :D Minniemoo, that breakfast sounds lovely! Has anyone tried the SW icecream yet? I keep meaning to get around to having a go but haven't done yet!

I had a good week this week, I was only away for 2 nights which really helps, and I lost 2lbs!

Antari 04-21-2007 12:31 PM

Oooooooh bits...........a stone...........clever girl!

Fighting flab, yes I am a vegetarian that doesn't eat eggs or drink milk and the only cheese (if you can call it cheese) I have are the Laughing Cow triangles and that is only because I can't have any spread on my bread so I have a couple of those instead. Hence I always have green days. I do occasionally have Quorn as you can't distinguish the eggs in that :p

My favourite snack/dessert at the moment is frozed fruit covered in fromage frais and mixed up together, left until the fromage frais has slightly frozen on the fruit and eaten...........it tastes like very fruity ice cream (well it does to me :D ) I don't have sweeteners as I have a thing about aspartame being really bad for you.

Hi Antari,
I use the LC triangles instead of marge too :) I lurve the idea of frozen fruit with fromage frais...I'll definitely be trying that. I read somewhere that you can freeze any flavoured very low fat yoghurts and they become a free icecream so I'll be trying that too - I fancy a muller light mandarin icecream :D :D :D love ff x

Antari 04-24-2007 12:09 PM

Me too - just half a pound :( I told you we were practically sisters! Shame MinnieMoo didn't reply - I want to know how she managed to lose 4lbs in 1 week!!!!! I think I'd have to have something amputated :?: Oh well...better off than on love ff x

Minniemoo 05-02-2007 05:01 PM

Hey!!

COOOOEEEEEEE IM ERE :carrot: Sorry i've not replied sooner I've had a busy few days....I had me weigh in 2nite and I've lost another 2lbs :smug: thats 3 stone 5lbs now I soooo wanna get 2lbs off next week!!!
Fighting flab...I don't do any excersise I mean not planned anyway i'm on my feet alot with my job but don't go to excersise classes/gym or anything I am however looking into joining something as I am loosing weight fast (still got alot to loose) and I need to start toning.
As for what do I eat...I tend to have green days during the week and red at the weekend for no other reason but for convienience...I don't eat bread simply because this was one of my MANY food addictions and I don't alot of cheese when i do i only eat half fat cheddar and I weight it as a HE. I tend to use my Syns up with sauces to liven up food e.g mayo, salad cream, gravy and i don't use all my Syns.
Everyone is different I have alot of weight to loose and I think the less weight you have to loose the harder it is there are ladies in my group who have a stone to loose and loose half a pound every week...don't get disheartened I tell them at least they don't have as much to loose as me :(
Its better to loose than put on... weight problems huh  hard to loose fast and but easy to put on fast!!!
Another treat I have is Alpen light bars there 3 Syns oh and I swear by them Slimming world bars the chocolate orange one is yum
Well done for ya weight loses tho....least your loosing :grouphug:

Anne12 05-03-2007 03:33 AM

well after 1week back on SW i lost 2lb.....did a lot of mix 2 match days...used my syns for real food (extra bread, tinned soup etc)rather than crisps, biscuits....gonna try a few success express days this week, has anyone tried this yet??

Julie Bus 05-03-2007 08:27 AM

Hello

Has anyone had an problems losing weight following SW when they have stopped smoking?

I have been doing slimming world for 3 years and got to target last July. I then gave up smoking in September and put on a stone! Now I am trying to get that stone off and it's just not budging. I have been really good but only lost 3lb in 6 weeks. I was super good this week, drank loads of water, had virtually no syns and just one HE a day, ate loads of SS foods and lost 1 measly pound! I nearly burst into tears in front of the whole class.

Has anyone else found this?

Thanks - Julie

Minniemoo 05-03-2007 02:44 PM

Hi Julie

My Slimming world consultant says have all ya syns and use all ya healthy extras as this helps weight lose :?: I don't use all mine but I do ok without using all of them....its just a thought for you tho....try using all of them and see if that helps

Good luck

MinnieMoo

Hi Anne12, well done on the 2lb loss :) I'm wanting to try success express but I'm a bit confused as to how it works (or IF it works). I started a new thread on this but I don't think anyone has replied yet. May be no one on here has tried it yet :?: love ff x

Antari 05-06-2007 05:44 AM

Success express? Never heard of it. Maybe I should read my book again or I think I will now go and look at the website and find out. If anyone needs success express I'm your woman! :(

Homersmummy 05-06-2007 10:04 AM

I put on nearly half a stone on my holiday recently-I comfort ate lots... I managed to lose some of that, making my gain last week 3 and a half pounds. GRR! :( I'm back in the 19st range-I've been finding SW sooo hard of late. I'm practically living off of salad, If I follow the rules, I put on or don't lose! If I live off of practically nothing-salad, the occasional bit of meat I lose some... I've tried changing it, I was mainly doing green days-so I moved to mainly red days-it did make a difference, my weight loss was moving again-but with this holiday set back, one week to put it on... 6 months to take it off. So annoyed with myself!
Ah well, I'll get there.

Geministar 05-06-2007 05:37 PM

Hello!!

Hello everyone, I'm new here but not new to Slimming World. I've been messing around latey and am back to square one! I tried intuitive eating but I was still eating too much and I obviously need structure. I've lost weight in the past on SW so I trust the "formula".
Anyway just introducing myself and hopefully I can just stick to it and get this weight off once and for al!! I need to lose a stone and a half so I really need to focus and get it off! :carrot:

Tawney 05-06-2007 06:04 PM

Hi all just come across this thread and it's excellent:)
I joined Slimming World 11 weeks ago and i have lost 2 stone so far, i cant believe im really on a diet with the range of things im allowed to eat.
Your all such a happy bunch of people it's brilliant:)

fighting flab 05-07-2007 11:53 AM

Hi all, hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend

Hi Homersmummy  I think you did really well to only put on 7 lbs on holiday and REALLY well to lose 4 lbs of that since coming back! We are all entitled to forget our diets on holiday - I plan to do just that in less than 3 weeks time :D It won't take you 6 months to get that other 3lbs off - 1 or 2 weeks and then you will be back on track again! Good luck.

Hi Geministar and welcome  I've never tried "intuitive eating" :?: I've tried the good ol' "see-food" diet but we've all been there at one time or another I guess :o I like the SW plan (currently trying to get my head around success express (without much success at present) but I seem to have been struggling a little over the last 2 weeks. I'm sticking to it - but having attacks of the munchies regularly. I try to feed such attacks with free foods - but of course it's chocolate I want - ah well - nothing tastes as good as slim feels ;)

Hi Tawney & welcome to 3FC SW thread  2 stone in 11 weeks is ab fab :carrot: How are you doing it? Green or red? Or one of the other 2 plans? Give us all some tips please :)

Enjoy the rest of BH Monday, love ff x

Geministar 05-07-2007 12:53 PM

thanks!! Intuitive eating is basically about eating ony when you're hungry and stopping when you're full, eat what you like and not what you think you should and learning to accept yourself. It sounded really good but I didn't know when I was full :o
SW is a tried and tested plan for me so when I saw that IE wasn't going too well, I just made a decision to go back to SW and stick to it!! Its been going well so far and I plan on doing mostly mix to match days as its the most convenient (and tasty! ) method for me :D
Today I had.....

Brekkie: 2 sliced wholemeal toast (HE B) with 1 egg fried in frylight and 1tbsp ketchup (1syn) and some tea and skimmed milk (part of my HE A)

Green Lunch: Pasta and 100g chicken with sweetcorn and lots of lettuce, cucumber and cherry tomatoes. I mashed up 3 laughing cow light and a splash of lemon juice to thin it out and some black pepper for my dressing.

Red dinner: I plan on having grilled salmon fillet with steamed green beans and broccoli and grilled tomatoes :carrot:
And for dessert I'll have a shape yogurt!

I'm feeling great now!

i think i'm about to re-join slimming world-Help! x x

Hi there,
I am very new to this forum and didn't know things like this existed til yesterday so i am made up i found it! My name is Rachel and i'm 23, i might as well be honest from the start: I joined slimming world last year and had success and lost half a stone, until i went to amsterdam and put it all back on again! i kept going to class and losing and gaining but ended up throwing the towel in in feb this year as i just wasnt getting the support or motivation i needed from the group leader. I actually ended up 3lbs heavier when i left than when i started so was really fed up. i then joined lighter life last week and did 6 days but found the formula foodpacks utterly disgusting and it just seems very unsocial as you literally cant eat or drink.
As i agree with the principals of slimming world and know it works, i think i have decided to give it another go. I am pleased to say though that in the past 2 weeks I have lost 13lbs so i am quite pleased with that. My start weight crept up to 17st13lbs and I am now at 17st. I am a bit concerned though that if i start slimming world then this will all go straight back on. Does anyone else have any experience with making this transition?
I am also hoping that I will be able to get some support from people on here in the same boat.
Any help would be grately appreciated.

fee2482 05-07-2007 05:04 PM

Hi Rachel. I'm not currently doing sw i'm doing the Weight watchers but am 25 and currently weigh just under 16 stone, i'm like u and find it hard to do this. Just wondered if maybe you wanted to give each other a hand staying on track obviously we cant help with diets as we are doing different ones but we can just try and encourage one another. If you feel this would help u can send me a private message. xx

fighting flab 05-07-2007 05:46 PM

Hi Geministar..I love your salad dressing idea..I'm definitely going to try that :D cheers!

Hi Rachel..don't worry..join SW + you'll keep losing :D I lost 2st on lipotrim + then switched to SW (see my first post on page8 of this thread). Good luck!

Oh that is so me, but not chocolate, for me it's a rewarding glass of wine at the end of the day!!!

Since only losing half a pound 2 weeks ago I seem to have lost heart and last week only 'did' SW about 65% of the time! I am now going to weigh in and hope that I have not 'put on' and at least only weigh the same as last week. I feel so silly at not sticking to it last week and although I can use the excuse Bank Holiday, I think I was just having a 'rebel' moment.

I have decided that this week will be 100% again and that I have got all my 'naughty' moments over and done with last week.

Antari 05-08-2007 10:49 AM

Well, I lost a pound :)

Yes, I am happy with that but understanding it is another matter! Anyway I feel even more inclined to get back on to the diet 100% so that next week I know I have deserved the weight loss.

Geministar 05-08-2007 11:44 AM

Good job Antari!!! I'm doing SW on my own at the moment, still thinking whether or not I should join a group. There's one near me but its not always convenient for me on the days they hold meetings and I guess "reporting" to a class makes me feel under pressure and likely to just stop going if I had a bad week and then stop the diet all together because I think I've spoilt everything!
I'll try doing it on my own, that way it would feel more like a lifestyle change and a part of my everyday life rather than relying on my group forever!

I'll be weighing myself every sunday morning and have a treat that same day. My boyfriend and I usually have a nice lazy brunch and lots of naps on sundays, as I only have about 5 syns a day, that could be my treat for the week. :D

kykaree 05-09-2007 11:26 AM

I've just joined slimming world, having lost 5 stone on my own, and putting one and a bit back on.

I am really liking it. I am a greed day girl at heart, I seem to be having more of those than red days.

I weigh in today........interesting to see if I've lost. I won't be too disappointed if I haven't, as I am still learning the ropes!

By the way I love the fact that you are a "greed day girl at heart" ... would you call that a Freudian slip? :D love ff x
