Hey - wondering if there was room for a bigg'un (soon to be a littl'un)?! I am currently using slimming world just with the aid of the mags as I am about to move to London and will need to find a group when a get there. Is everyone here on slimming world? Is everyone finding it works? I joined once before but I think I just used all my syns and ignored the free food so perhaps not the best way... Support of other Slimming World people would be great!

Morning,
FF, quiet right, you have to enjoy yourself sometimes, you can't deprive yourself all the time. As long as you get back on the wagon right away you should be fine.... Saralou, welcome to the forum. Everyone in this thread is on SW and as far as I'm aware we are all quiet happy with it and it works well for us. It's a great eatingplan and I haven't really felt hungry since I've started it. Of course we all get cravings, but it's quiet easy to get back on track. I find it important to go to my weekly meetings, you get a lot of support and great ideas there........ I had an ok night, no snacking, no synning, quiet pleased with myself. Went to the boxercise yesterday and was a great workout, cause I was a bit peed off, cause I heard yesterday that I didn't get the job that I applied for....so had a lot of steam to blow off lol...... |
Hi all.. another newbie here.
I just came across this fabulous forum full of fabulous people it seems and I'm so happy I've found you :) I have recently started changing my life around in order to become healthier and lose weight. I joined slimming world about a month ago and I'm finding it works well for me. Never feel hungry and I am discovering all these new recipes too! And I love the weekly support. Daniele |
Thought I would quickly share my delight at the dinner I just had. I made a bolognaise with veggie mince and loads of mushrooms, peppers etc with a normal size portion of pasta and had a huuuge dinner! It definitely helps thinking you can eat as much as you like if you're hungry. Not least as if I could afford beef mince I could have had the same meal with 500g of mince on a red day - madness!! This is usually the time that I sneak out to the Spar, which is less than two minutes away, to get some chocolate or crisps or cake so the goal this evening is to hold on to the feeling of fullness and not get tempted by Spar!
|
hey ladies,
saralou, weeelll done on your dinner, and :bravo: on not being tempted by spar....thats what its all about!!!! :dust: all around....absolutely fab. I just had a loveeely dinner as well, had selfmade bbq beef burgers on wholemeal rolls (the ones from the SW recipe book), absolutely delicious and very filling....have to say I had a snackajack earlier lol..... daniele, :welcome2:. It'sa great forum, with good people and good advise....check out the recipe thread for loads of good ideas. Also you can have a look in my blog, got some recipes posted there as well. Any questions feel free to ask :). Haven't been to the boxing tonight, lazy me...but I'll definetely go tomorrow...probably alone tho, cause the football is on :dz:... |
Hi all
great to see new people coming on board - of course I love all you oldies as well lol!!! I'm off to weigh in in 10 mins - hopefully will be Ok - only problem is I've not eaten enough the last couple of days - had horrible horroble ... did I say horrible toothache - dentist this afternoon and he took the bugger out - can't feel a thing now and that includes the right hand side of my face. So sods law is that I'll have maintained or put on from not eating enough - metabolism and all that jazz!! However good news is I did 40 lengths at swimming on saturday and also done my eliptical/bike training each night so fingers crossed...I'll post when i get back Tara girls |
Hi all,
Well my weigh in was better than expected after the curry...lost 1 lb :D Been good today - I resisted cake and sweets at a meeting this afternoon and just ate fruit and for my tea tonight - shredded cabbage with a mixture of chopped tomatoes, onions, peppers, garlic, black pepper etc on top, and a salmon fillet on top of that. My plate was full and it was a perfect original meal and very filling - yum! Welcome Saralou and Daniele : wave: hope you enjoy hanging out on the thread - I do :D:D Hi Bubbly - hope your weigh in goes well and that your tooth (or rather the place where it was) doesn't start aching again. Love ff x |
Hey girls,
Bubbly, good luck with the WI, im sure u be fine with all the workout uve done...good for u!!! Glad that painful tooth is out...brrrr I hate toothache....drives me bonkers.... FF, good for you, makes that curry taste so much better now does it? And your dinner sounds lovely....wouldnt have the fishy bit tho....I hate fish..... My WI is tomorrow night....I should be fine, only had a wee bit of boozing during the weekend and been good the rest of the week. Been peeing like mad all week too, so thats usually a good sign..... Well, going to bed soon, my other half is watching the footie with his brother....why did I agree to have sky sports again? :snooty: |
Went for my WI last night and to my shock I stayed the same...was well annoyed about it, really thought I've lost at least 2lb.....but oh well, TOM is arriving this weekend, so that's probably one of the reasons, so hopefully I will be ok next week.....
|
40 lengths at swimming!! I am so impressed Bubbly! I've only just started with exercise and if I can do 10 lengths I am doing well.
Well done fighting_flab! Every pound counts. You're doing great. Moonchild- staying the same is annoying. But it's much better than gaining! Look at all the exercising you've done or other non-scale victories that you have achieved this week! :cp: Thanks everyone for the nice welcome to the forum  |
I'm back! Welcome to all the new people. Had a good holiday, and only put on a pound, so I was pretty pleased with that as I ate and drank everything lol. TOM now which sucks. I'll have to read up on everything you've all been up to and post later, but just wanted to say hi. Oh and MC, we have another mouse, came back from holiday to it, ewwwww, but I'm coping better this time lol, just waiting for the poison the council laid to kill it.
First day back OP today and I'm doing well, got lots to tell you but it'll probably have to wait till I'm back at work on a proper pc. |
Hello everyone! I'm an 'old' newbie.....I've popped in before to steal your recipes.:dizzy:
I have done SW before with great results but over the last year I have had too much work and a knee injury to contend with. I have been in denial. I used to run nearly everyday and could subsequently eat pretty much what ever I wanted. Hurting my knee has really shaken me and I have taken comfort in food and wine.:o I reckon that I'm at about 14stone now, I was 11.5stone at my fittest. I've just been cleared to start cycling which doesn't hurt at all. I'm going to a SW group tomorrow to weigh in properly. Hold me. I'm scared. |
Helen, Welcome back......we missed u!!!!!!! Well done with the 1lb, thats fab! How was your holiday?
Welcome Jaffa, we'll forgive you this time for stealing the recipes lol. Don't worry about your WI, I'm sure you'll be fine....and SW is a great plan.... ...saying that I have to admit that I've been naughty during the weekend.....had some KFC on Friday, a pannini for lunch on saturday and then chinky for dinner with a couple of glasses of wine....TOM arrived last night and I had a bag of crisps....I'm absolutely disgusted with myself...why do I keep doing that? I set myself a goal, and what do I do? I gain 2lb! Grrrrrr, i could scream. I need to stop thinking that food will go out of fashion the next day or dissappear from the earth....Back on track today, but I say that every Monday lately...I do need to stop this! Sorry about all the ranting. |
Hehe Moonchild, I've been exactly the same, snacking all weekend, and not exercising, I'm on track now though, and I'm determinded to stay that way!
The holiday was great, really relaxing, lots of lying around doing nothing, and loads of eating and drinking. The weather was awesome, and it was great because the hotel was by the beach and we could just go and get in the sea whenever we liked. The food was tasty although not 100% healthy. Only downside was coming home to find mouse droppings lol, oh well hehe. On Thursday I went to the school that I'll be working in next year if I get accepted on the teacher training course, I really enjoyed it and had a great day there. It's an hours drive each way which sucks, but the school is lovely, and at least I know the commuting is only for a year and then I'll be able to get a job locally, hopefully I should know around March time (yes I know thats ages away), if I get accepted by the college or not. My husbands moped got written off, it really sucks because it means we won't get enough money back to cover the cost of a new one. Grr, it seems so unfair, I think we're looking at driving lessons for him. So, what have you been up to while I've been away? |
Oh Helen, sounds like a great holiday, and I'm sure the mouse will be done and dusted soon....litteraly. Glad to hear that you like the school, I'm sure you will get accepted without a problem at the college.
Well, I've been just working away like a little soldier. Didn't get the job I've applied for, which annoyed me a bit. Finally got all our sky hooked up, but the problem with the £5 was never solved...oh well..... Wondering what happend to Mel, she hasnt been on in ages..... |
Aw that's a shame about the job, I was going to ask earlier, but I didn't wanna mention it just in case. Strange that Mel hasn't been around, I hope she's ok, she was doing so well.
I just saw on the bbc site that there have been mini tornados not far from here, scary stuff, it was very windy and noisy in the night. Oh, just incase you didn't know Morrissions is doing 10 muller lights for £2, bargain hehe. I want to set myself a challenge for Christmas, I don't want it to be in terms of weight lost, because I always seem to fail them, any ideas? |
Quote:
...down 1 dress size (or 2!) by xmas ...walking / cycling (or other exercise) for 30 mins longer (or by distance) ...keep a "star chart" for every time you don't give in to the urge to eat something off plan + set a star target to aim for! ...aim for an achievable BMI ...aim to be another 1 or 2 notches in on your belt ...aim to fit into that perfect Christmas outfit! Hope one of these helps ... must rush off now...will visit longer after wi tomorrow night...love ff x |
Hey all,
Well, my night has been ok, had a fritatta with WW chips and 2 teacakes, so that not too bad. TOM is hitting me hard this month, so I hope with loosing all this liquid I will have a loss on Thursday. But I doubt it after the weekend I had. FF, great ideas there, I've set myself a goal for Xmas, but so far I'm not even close, I actually gained 2lb...grrrrrr. But oh well...I think trying to fit in an outfit that you can just about fit in now but not be abled to wear it all day is a good goal. I have soooo many outfits like that and it's a great fealing when you can finally wear them more than 2 hours without having the urge to rip them off lol.... |
Hiya Girls,
Just thought I'd pop by and post a little, thanks for the ideas on the motivation, I'm thinking along the lines of everytime I resist a naughty I get a star (I wouldn't have got one last night lol). Have got half way back on track, I am trying harder, but I'm nowhere near there yet lol, I'm off to the gym tonight for an aerobics class so that should give me a bit more motivation. Feeling very tired right now, mainly because of coming back to work and having to drag my bum out of bed in the morning lol. The mouse is still around, but I'm coping fine, going to keep it that way. Its my hubbys birthday in a couple of weeks so I'm busy thinking up fun and cheap ideas for him. Hubbys bike got written off so we're waiting on an insurance claim, we're pretty gutted because we won't be able to afford to replace it *sigh* Right, time to file some paperwork and then home, get changed quickly and off to the gym :) |
Hi all,
WI for me tonight - lost 1.5 lbs :D feeling very chuffed especially cos I went out for 2 meals this week. My mum and my mother in law have their birthdays one after the other on 24th and 25th. Hey Moonchild - you've mentioned your fritatta before - what's the recipe? And I'm sure you'll get into those outfits by Christmas - it's 13 weeks exactly till Xmas - if we can all manage just 1 pound a week between now and then we will have lost nearly a stone each and another dress size down! Now that's worth trying for!!!! Hi Crazy Helen - we all have to give into the naughties every now and then - I know I do :o Good for you doing the aerobics class - hope you enjoyed it. I keep promising myself I will go but haven't got round to it yet. I keep telling myself that I don't have the time - but the truth is I don't have the motivation/energy. Instead of sitting on the sofa in the evening with the laptop I should go to the gym. I'm so sorry about the bike. Hope you come up with some good ideas for hubby's birthday. By the way - has anyone tried any of the aerobics-type DVDs/videos? Are there any that anyone would particularly recommend? I was looking at Davina's power of 3 and there was one that was called something like belly-dancersize :dizzy: Hope everyone has a good week - love ff x |
p.s. our usual SW consultant was on holiday this week and we had a stand in - she forgot to mention the password and I didn't think to ask till I got home. Can't text my consultant while she's on holiday - could anyone please oblige with the password? Cheers ff x
|
Last weeks password will work for this week. Please don't post the password on the forum as sw is a business and they don't like forums posting the password. ;)

Hi everyone! I came across this forum when looking where to buy slimming world directorys and think is great!
I lost 2 stone 5lbs on SW last year for my 21st birthday party, and of course, its crept back on and more! So i'm starting again however I've just graduated and because im only working part time I can't afford to go to the class! But this seems to be a great substitue! Everyone is doing well too! My mum is starting rosemary conely and although i think its a great diet and a great idea, i dont think i can eat that way. Its all about reduucing portion size as well as healthy meals. It made me realise how good SW is and how much choice you have. So fingers crossed. Just thought i'd introduce myself anyway!! xx |
Hi Bex and welcome to the forum, I know what you mean about the Rosemary Conely diet my mum did it but I couldnt lose weight on it, been doing great on slimming world though.
Well done FF! That's excellent, I'm really pleased for you :) I went to aerobics last night and loved it, it's so much fun, our instructor pushes us really hard but it's worth it. I used to use some dvds for exercise I can't remember which ones but for me they didn't keep me motivated, it was too easy not to do it. I find paying for the gym keeps me going because I really struggle to pay the gym costs each month, but everyone is different, I think you have to find what's best for you. I had a yummy dinner last night, Chris made me a tasty quorn bolognaise, mmmm yummy, we have the leftovers for dinner tonight. I also have pasta for lunch and will put some pesto with it. I'm becoming a green day fiend! |
hi all, sorry, haven't posted all day, was really busy this morning at work and i went home at 11 cause I was feeling absolutely rotten. been having cramps since sunday and today I felt really naucious...brrrr...didn't follow my diet either. went to inlaws last night, had spagetthi bolognese with tons of garlic bread....really dreading the WI tomorrow.....I really need to get myself together.
Bex, welcome to the club, I'm sure you will find lots of ideas here. The recipe for the fritatta is dead easy, you can vary it in different ways. Just use some left over pasta and fry it in frylight for a couple of mins. mix 3 eggs, some milk and some fromage frais and poor over the eggs and let it set until the bottom is a bit brown. then sprinkle chease over it and put it under the grill until the cheese is golden...yummy. I also used potatoes instead of pasta and on monday I put jalapenos on top. Usually spice it with salt, pepper, paprika and curry.....just experiment. It's great fresh, or the next day at work, hot or cold. Well, this week is messed up diet wise but I need to kick myself and get back on track. Glad when TOM is gone and I can go back to the boxing. Going to bed soon, speak to u all tomorrow. Oh FF well done on the loss!!!!! |
Hi all, had a hectic day today but from somewhere or other I found the strength to refuse a fish and chip lunch!!!!! I thought about next weeks weigh in and said no thank you and went for a baked spud with baked beans instead. The SW force was strong in me today :D
Hi Bex, hope you enjoy hanging out here, and hope you lose as much weight as you want to with SW. I don't fancy the RC diet myself but I know someone who has lost 3.5 stone and swears that it's the best diet ever! CrazyHelen, I know what you mean re the motivation, I keep saying to myself that I really must book to do the aerobics class - but my hand never reaches the phone :( I bought a dvd yesterday - but it's just sitting on my dvd shelf and I haven't even taken the wrapper off it :o Moonchild, sorry you're feeling poorly  I hate having cramps. The garlic bread sounds yummy - but I know what you mean re the weigh in - it's funny, sometimes thinking about that works to stop me eating (like today) and sometimes it doesn't! Anyway...thanks so much for the fritatta recipe - it sounds sooooooo yummy - I'll have a go at the weekend - I'll try it both ways with pasta and one with potato and see which I prefer. By the way I didn't know you did boxing ... is it kick boxing you do? or boxercise? Night all, hope we all have a good day tomorrow, Love ff x |
Sorry you're not feeling well MC, hope you're better soon.
FF you will get there with exercise, its just getting into the right mindset, I really didn't feel like going on Tuesday, but then when I got there I really enjoyed it and am so glad that I did, having said that my stomach muscles are really sore still, my instructor loves to make us to sit ups lol. I maintained this week, not really happy about it, but I only have myself to blame, not enough exercise and too much bad food. When will I learn? I'm beating myself up about it a bit to try and motivate myself, its so silly because I want to lose, but chocolate and garlic bread are just so tasty lol. Time to be tough on myself and to eat healthily and exercise more. I booked a trip to Russia yesterday (I visit an orphanage out there), the flights are booked for 26th April next year, and I'm determind to be at target by then, I need to lose an average of 2 pound a week, if I manage it I'll have got to my target weight in almost exactly two years (including a few breaks). I am so determinded to be at target by then because I used to live out there and I was really slim, and ever since I left I piled the pounds on, I hate it when I'm there and people look at me and say that I've put weight on, and although when I was out there this year people were saying how much I'd lost I want to lose more. I'm losing weight for myself, but I guess what other people think is still a big pushing point for me. It was a trip to Russia that made me decide to lose weight in the first place. Anyhow enough of my waffling, I have my target, I decided not to set a target for Christmas, and just to go for the big one of April. I can do this!!! |
Hey ladies,
Feeling much better today, thank god...couldnt really have felt much worse lol. I've decided to start afresh tomorrow, as my week is already messed up. Got my dreaded WI tonight and will have a nice unhealthy dinner afterwards.....just to get it out of my system....and then start from scratch tomorrow. No excuses....13 weeks to xmas, 1 stone off minimum, hopefully closer to two. FF well done with the willpower, may the force be with you lol.....I'm doing boxercise, but not in the gym, but in our community center...two coppers are the coaches. And they are evil! But it is a great workout, and my other half is enjoying it as well. Helen, sorry that u didnt loose this week, but I'm sure u will be better next week. Be strong....unlike me lol... |
I love those final blowout meals, hehe! I'm doing ok today, I'm diarying everything I eat, that keeps me on track. My wedding and engagement rings have been really lose recently, I need one of those little things that makes them tighter, and then when I'm at target I can get them made smaller. Its a nice state to be in but not something I considered before losing weight.
MC I think we should make a pact to stick OP till Christmas, then we can get through Christmas day and really enjoy the naughties. |
Hi folks,
Hope you've had a good day. I had no trouble sticking to the diet today...was good all day cos I was taking my mum out for a meal tonight. I was relatively good - ordered a warm chicken salad. Had a couple of bites of salad and then spotted something black with antennae and lot of logs crawling from under a lettuce leaf!!!!! I nearly barfed :fr: Needless to say - I didn't have anything else to eat. I still feel queasy - keep wondering if it had a mate and I already ate it...I wonder how many sins in a millipede? Will it be on sins on line do you think? Love ff x |
Doh! Of course...it's pure protein so it'll be free on Original :D
p.s. I meant legs not logs of course!! love ff x |
Hey everyone! Thanks for the welcomes!
Been thinking, you could make a tasty fritatta out of that creature! Also as exercise ws mentioned, me and a friend of mine decided to go tot aerobics tonight HOWEVER when we got there it was yoga! And advanced yoga at that! The woman practically laughed us out of the place - think she took a look at our figures and for some reason didnt think we were lean mean yoga godesses! I've done the same, buy a fitness dvd and watch it twice! xx |
Hey ladies,
Well my final blowout meal has been a nice KFC, yummy!!!! Stayed the same this week again, which I'm quiet pleased about, cause I didn't really stick to the plan....so there we go. Am going to be good from now on. Had Ryvitas with Happy cows for breakie and going to have some WW Mushroom Stroganoff for lunch. Dinner probably will be Bangers (Quorn) and Mash. Helen, good plan about the pact. I'm up for it. Good for you in regards of the rings, it's great when stuff get's loose, I have a watch that is getting looser. FF, oh god that is horrible, yikes....One of the reasons I don't eat lettuce...brrrrr, that makes me shiver Bex, hope u have better luck next time, shame that it was a different class....I find it is easier to start with something low impact, aerobics is too much jumping about...and it hurts my knees.... As of this weekend everything unhealthy is banned from the house, no more sweets or crisps.....if he wants it, he can get it, but not in the house. Planning on going for some walks this weekend if the weather is ok and next week back to the boxing..... |
Hi Girls, how are you?
Sorry I haven't been around for a few days, I've been having a bit of a hard time really. My self esteem is pretty low, I'm not sure why, I just feel bad about myself. I've mostly stuck to plan, had a bit of a glitch on Saturday night when we went to my father in laws house, but I'm just fed up really, trying to pull myself up and not feel sorry for myself. We made chicken pizzas last night, using chicken breast as the base and covering it with tomato puree, onions, bacon, cheese and herbs, we served it with those large mushrooms, it was really tasty and I would recommend trying it. I treat myself to 24 series 6 on the way to work, I didn't see it when it was on tv so I'm looking forward to watching it. I think I'll go to the gym tonight. |
Hey ladies,
Helen, sorry you aren't feeling well, TOM around the corner? I was feeling like that last week, just generally a bad week. I've been really good since my last WI. As you know I had my fresh start dinner thursday night, and for the rest of the weekend I stuck to the programme. Went walking saturday morning with my other half and then we went for a drive to the westcoast and had a walk around a lovely little village. Sunday we did our shopping, went window shopping and then had a lovely roast dinner, which was absolutely free (besides the gravy) and then for a 2 mile power walk/run around one of the lakes that are closeby. Gotta take the cats to the vet tonight, but might either go to boxing after or take that walk around the lake again. Really positive at the moment, quiet glad that TOM is over! Just had a baked potato with refried beans, jalapenos and cheese for lunch, very tasty! |
Hi CH, so sorry to hear you've been feeling really low. It can be difficult to climb out of a downer once you get stuck in it. Good for you trying to remedy it and not self-medicating with food. It doesn't work - as we all know only too well. Hope you feel better soon hon
By the way, your chicken pizzas sound yummy - must try them! Hi MC, I'm impressed with your "2 mile power walk/run around one of the lakes" - I'm currently taking a 30 minute power lie down on the sofa with my lap top :D I couldn't sleep last night and I'm soooo tired now. WI for me tomorrow - I've been good but the scales didn't seem to have moved when I took a peek this am :( but I think TOM is heading in my direction - damn :(:(:( Hope everyone has a good week, Love ff x |
Hey CH - just realised we've lost the same amount of weight - 74lbs :) When did you start your diet? I started in January this year in desperate preparation for my wedding dress and photos in May!! I'm 5ft 11ins so I do not have quite as much left to lose as you but it still seems like a long road. I feel tired just thinking about it.
I know it's ridiculous to say (type) this...but I've only just realised I'm only 1 pound off having lost 3 quarters of my excess weight  I wonder if I can lose 1 pound before tomorrow :?: love ff x |
Hi
Just thought I would pop in and say hello I have just started slimming world today ! I am going to read through all the pages in this thread to see if there is anything to help me. I cant seem to get my head around the amount of food I can eat and its free !!
A xx |
Hey Ladies,
Amanda, welcome to our lovely hangout. I'm sure you will find lots of ideas. It is indeed great that you can eat so much and still lose weight....I'm loving it! FF, Good luck with that one last pound, hope you've lost it! It's always great to reach a milestone......my next milestone is 17st....and its 3lb away. And since I've been really good this week, I hope I will be a lot closer to it by Thursday. I've just looked at Amandas ticker.....and your starting weight is my goal weight....thats scary.....wish I was there yet......but hopefully by next year I will be..... Didn't go work out last night. Had a crazyly busy day at work, and my other half only got home short before sunset, and we didn't want to run around in the dark. Football is on tonight, so I'll probably have to go workout on my own again..... |
Right, I'm back, thanks for all the messages of support, I'm feeling much stronger now, I had a good old rant in my blog, took an extra BLT class and watched two hours of 24 lol. I feel like I can stick with this.
One thing that I've noticed is that since I've gone back on the contraceptive pill my weight has stayed the same, I wouldn't have connected it but last time I was on the pill I found it impossible to lose weight, has anyone else had a simelar problem? I'm going to give it to the end of this pack and if I've not lost anything by then I'll be taking a break from it for a while. FF that's funny that we've lost the same, I started slimming world early this summer, but my ticker dates back a bit before that when I was counting calories I've found SW to be the best way for me to lose though. Oh yes Man Utd is on tonight isn't it, I am fortunante that my class is at 5:30 so I can watch the footy after, that is if I'm not watching 24 lol. We both saw the mouse last night for the first time, it ran around the back of our living room area and hid under our guitars, we chased it out (I've overcome my fears), and it ran into the kitchen eeeek!! The council poison doesn't seem to be working even though the mouse is eating loads of it. Time for a trip to B&Q tonight I think. Welcome to the mad house Amanda. |
