are we allowed to ask for help with Syn values here? i know there are a lot of strict rules about p/word sharing etc and i'm not interested in that but i just wondered if anyone could tell me how many syns (if any - hopefully not!) were in a serving of Dow Egberts, Cafe Switch Smooth had?
thanks if anyone can help, and no worries if no one can :) |
I also don't have a clue about any syns..i like my free food and the syns i do have are always the same thing.
Of course you can ask here i don't actually know the syn value but maybe someone wlse can help.:) |
All Douwe Egberts products are between 3 1/2 and 4 syns on green and red for a 36ml sachet :)
Not had a good week this week. Have had to eat out 4 days in a row and drank 1/2 bottle of champers last night celebrating Mothers Day (shared it with hubby) Weighing in tomorrow so hope I haven't put on and have only stayed the same. Back on the diet from this morning :o |
OOh Antari that sounds like my life :D Good luck with the weigh-in!
has anyone tried the frozen weight watchers desserts? Like the double chocolate brownie, or the Banoffee one? They are delish! :D |
Half a pound lost :carrot: That takes me up to ten pounds. :D
|
Hi everyone, I just joined here tonight. I've been SW since January, and been doing really well, just got my 2 stone award last week. Just thought I'd join for some inspiration to keep going.
|
Well done on reaching your 10 pounds Antari!!!I always find it hard to eat out with slimming world sometimes i just opt for Nandos or any place with grilled chicken...:carrot: :carrot: :carrot:
Hiya Jennibellie your welcome!!!Well done on your massive 2 stone loss!!!! I was wondering if you ladies plan for snacks and treats or just go with the flow? |
I don't plan my snacks and treats, but I guess I always make sure I have something syn free on the go to nibble. Usually somethin quorn related, like sausages in the fridge, or grapes, strawberries and diced up melon. Today I have plenty of grapes, they are so sweet.
I usually have a treat size cadbury Dairy milk choc bar in the evening, I think 4 syns. I like to stick at between 5 and 7 syns a day, so most of my snacks are syn free. |
Hi Jenniebellie, well done on your 2st award...I'm still waiting on my 1st award! :D
Antari, well done on your 10lbs too...I love losing round numbers, or getting to round numbers, lol! Most of my main meals are pretty much syn free, although sometimes for lunch if I'm out and about I'll have a slim-a-soup with a bag of ryvita minis. My snacks are mostly syn free too, usually fruit. If I've had no syns for the day I may treat myself to a WW dessert, or if I'm away from home, I always take with me some Options hot chocolate sachets and either some ww cookies, or some of those Cadbury's highlight honeycomb and chocolate things (can't remember what they're called!) for a sweet fix at the end of the day :) I don't tend to plan them when I'm at home though, I just go with the flow, and make sure I have loads of fruit in! |
Hello, I'm new on here. I've started Slimming world a few times, but this time I have been going since January. I've had a few bad weeks so when I found this site it seemed like a good idea :)
|
Hi Elaine  We all have bad weeks now and then, the important thing is that they don't turn into a bad year or two ;) Welcome to 3fc!
|
i've been having such a hard couple of days i'm totally off my plan!I've actually lost my apetite altogether...least i aint been obessing about food. On a good note i have been excercising like crazy...just to get the fustration out..
|
You should come to work with me and take it out on the playdough! It works a treat ;) You'll get it back when you're ready, I'm really only following the plan at weekends with being away so much. It's an absolute nightmare, but as long as my mind is in slimming mode I'll be ok :)
|
I only lost half a lb last week, so was a bit disappointed. I was on plan, so not sure why, but I'm having a good week so far this week. I'm going away this weekend and staying in a Travel Lodge with some girls and am really stressing about what I am going to eat. I really need to take plenty of stuff with me, to keep me going and hopefully manage to have baked potatoes or pasta in a tomato sauce for my meals, I think I'll stash away some Hifi bars and maybe a cool bag with some babybels in.
|
One more pound down :carrot: Although I am losing steadily I wish I could just lose more than a pound or half at a time. Going to do some exercise this week and try and up it to two pounds next week!
|
Hello chicks!!!
I've just read the last few pages - You guys are amazing - I'm enthuised just reading them!!! Fantastic!!! Long time I've been hiding away... moved house and become a glorious domestic goddess and loving every second of it... Have been following slimming world but since I moved I am really missing my old class!!! Finding it hard without the backup of a group.... Question for the moment. I know Quorn Sausages and Quorn Pieces are free... what about Quorn Ham?? I suspect there are syns involved but I cant get on to lifeline to check it out... can anyone help?? Big love Cxx |
Nope, the Quorn 'ham' is free too! :)
|

Couple of Questions
Hi all,
I hope I can ask a couple of questions. I just found about Slimming World from a news article at medicalnewstoday dot com. So I started to read about it on the Internet. It sounds interesting. I live in the US so one of my questions is the food lists- I assume the lists only list UK brand name foods. I mainly eat non processed foods but for my syns I'd like to have some potato chips (Doritos or Lays brands)/candy/cookies etc I'm not sure how many US name brand snack foods would be listed in the syn lists. Is it worth it to join Postal to get the books? I found the general book at amazon then I thought I could join online for the calculators and menu planners. This way of eating sound interesting to me. I've lost about 90 pounds eating low fat but it's hard as it is hard to eat out when doing low fat. I belong to a weight loss support group called TOPS so I have the weekly weigh ins and group support. I exercise regularly and am looking for a way to eat for the rest of my life. I tried different ways of eating over the past year but going back to 2000 cals/day with 1/3 fat 1/3 protien and rest carbs has helped me to get back to losing weight. I have about 30 more pounds to lose. Thanks. Christy |
Hi Christy
If you go have a look at bodyoptimise.com that is the Slimming World online site, which I am a member of. On there, (once you've joined) they have the free food, healthy extra, and syn lists available for download. But they do have US versions of them all for download as well, so you'll be able to see which branded cereals etc that you can count in your Healthy Extras. There is a bit for 'syns online' where you can go look up food by brand name, although I'm not sure if they include American foods. However there is a syns calculator too, where you simply put in the nutritional information and it tells you how many syns are in your snacks! They have other things, like motivational features and ideas, you can put your weight in weekly and see a chart which maps your progress so far, and after a few weeks, estimates when you'll get to goal etc. I think the only difference between the online and postal membership is that you have to look on the pc for it all, but it's easy and of course you can print out the basics too! I'm not sure if the postal one covers US food brands but I've never tried that one so I'm not entirely sure :) Good luck, and VERY well done on your weight loss so far! |
Wow,
So many new people hi all and welcome :welcome2: !! My exercise routine has been going so great:carrot: :carrot: I been at the gym almost 3 times a week:lifter: and also been swimming the other 3 days it's so wierd cos once i get going i can sometimes do two activities in one day!!:swim: I never thought i'd say this but i do really love excercise!! Anyway on my way to the pool now hope everyone is staying on track and doing their thing to their very best;) . |
I love swimming, it's a 'nice' exercise! :) Problem is that I don't wasnt to even think about getting into a swimming costume at my size, plus being away so much I wouldn't get much chance for it. Well done SWC, exercise is soooo much easier when you're enjoying it, I love the buzz it gives you!

Joined online
Hi all,
Thanks for all your replies. I did a lot more reading about the plan and decided to join so at least I could read more. I joined the BodyOptimize website and downloaded the pdfs for USA foods. I'm going through the site and reading everything. I started to follow the plan on Thursday and so far so good. Following SW is relaxing as I know that I can go eat real foods - not just salad stuff - depending on what day I choose to eat - and not blow my eating plan. If the website had a forum then I might decided to stay after the first three months that I've paid for. $40/month is a lot of month is a lot of month for the very little online support (chats, forums, a way to ask questions) it gives. I can't find a way to ask questions on the bodyoptimise website. If there is a way, maybe someone could PM that url to me. otherwise I'll be asking my questions here or on the other forum I found. I love to exercise too - now that I've found an exercise that I love to do. I joined a gym that trains kickboxing and mixed martial art (MMA) fighters. I take classes on Tues, Thurs and Saturday, then lift weights Monday and Friday. I love doing this as it is a very muscular sport. I always wanted to learn how to box and now I am. Christy |
No, I don't think there is a way to ask them questions. I agree, a forum on there would make a lot of sense, they're just worried about people being given the wrong messages from people who think they're doing good. You can ask all you want on here though! :)
|
Well, weigh in today and have been good all over Easter so I hope it's a good one. I was very disappointed last week when I only lost 1/2 lb and I had been 100% and I had joined the gym and been twice!! :(
Hope everyone out there had a good Easter. :D |
One pound off! Nearly at my first stone.....hopefully next week :carrot:
|
Hi Antari, that's a good loss! I love getting to those big milestones, my favourite is moving down a stone, so now I'm waiting to get under 16 stone, still a bit to go for me yet mind! ;) But only 2 more pounds and I'll get my stone award too- hooray!
|
I meant to say, does anyone know what's happened to cherrycupcake? Hope she's ok!

Hi FF
Good weight loss! I did Lighterlife a couple of years ago and gained 3 and a half stone when I came off it (not straight away of course ;) ) I joined Slimming World 8 weeks ago and nearly to my 1 stone loss, it's slow for me but I can eat all my favourite foods and I intend to keep it off this time and not go back to my bad habits. |
Hi FF
It sounds as if your body is definitely working with you on the weight loss, they're great losses! Best of luck for your Tuesday weight in :) |
Welcome to the forum fighting flab.
|
Cheers Antari, bits & veggi
I was afraid of exactly what you described, Antari. You've done great to lose nearly a stone - hope we can all be "losers" together :D :dust: ...and I love that I can eat all my favourite foods too :carrot: p.s. can you tell I love the smilies :broc: |
Yay! Just got my tracker set up :D Still a long...loooooonnnng way to go tho':( but hey - we all need to focus on how far we've come...right? love ff x
|
That's the way I look at it too! 8 more pounds and you'll be half way there already! :)
|
Another pound gone :carrot:
Only half a pound to go my first stone. |
Well done Antari - you must be well-chuffed :D
Me too - I lost 2.5 lbs this week :carrot: :cb:  :woohoo: :broc: Only thing is...I can't figure out how to change my ticker without having to type all the info in again...can someone help me please? ff x |
Doh! Just figured it out...and done it! I think the weight loss this week must have come directly from my brain :dizzy:
It's exciting to see my ticker getting close to the half way mark - soon have less to lose than I've already lost :D ff x |
Well done fighting flab on the weight loss (and changing the ticker ;) )!
