Hi everyone, hope you don't mind if I join in. I just joined last week, but have been working on my weight since February. I'm a full time working stiff with a 1/2 hour each way commute and a busy 2 & 1/2 year old I manage to get in 45 minutes a day excersise by doing 15-20 minutes on the treadmill in the morning and walking at lunch time....Joetta, sorry about your dad, I hope everything turns out ok..... just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.

Default Hello Hello!!

Welcome Julie!! It sounds like you are doing great on your plan. We're always glad to have another working stiff. I'm a Medical Librarian and commute 30-45 min (depending on traffic) each way. I try try try to workout at least 4 times a week for 30-40 minutes. I HATE to exercise, but I'm really trying. I lost my first 15 just counting calories. Now I've been lingering in the mid 140s for ages it seems. We need all the support we can get - I hope you stick around

Kim - You are doing great!!! Thanks for the encouragement. I really need it right now. I'm going to need to do a lot of this: to get where I want to be. So you all need to ride my @ss - For REAL girls!!

Thumbs up Wednesday Evening

Hi everybody, I hope your Wednesday was great. It's downhill slide into weekend. Welcom Julie, it sounds like you'll be a great addition to our little group. Kerry, more than likely you've gained muscle if you're stuck at 145 - but you're thinner and toned. Way to go. That's just awesome.

I had a good day. I stayed on plan and didn't go over my calories. As I type, I;m highlighting my hair. I colored it back to my natural color (dark blonde) and am adding highlights. I figure the sun and pool will lighten it a bit this summer. But I like the color it turned out. I always color my hair red in November and let it go back natural in the spring. Apparently I can never be satisfied.

I also exercised today and that was day four for a week. That's progress for me. I don't tend to like to exercise but I'm forcing myself to do it. I even upped the resistance on the exercycle this past week. It's a good workout but I found that I get really sweaty now. I suppose that's good.

Have a great night and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Good Morning Chickies!!!
I'm still here, I've been cleaning house like a dog this week! I hope to have the whole house back in shape by the weekend so I can help DH clear more brush!

Kerry, I know exactly what your saying about your goal weight! I'm not sure what I'm supposed to weigh anymore, I just want my old clothes to fit! I'm tonning very nicely, but I still have alot of flab around my spare tire area that needs to go. The number is not as important, I have to watch it or I'll lose control, but measuring myself has helped keep me from going scale crazy!

Kim, I'm so proud of you!!!! And I don't blame you for not wanting to do phase one again! You'll get your carbs back this week, and can up your work outs again.

Julie, welcome! We are all really busy, so you'll find short and long posts here! I'm sure you'll fit right in!

Marie, sounds like your doing great, even with DH still home! Way to go on upping your work out days! I added an extra day of cardio a couple of weeks ago and it has helped!

Judy, just glad to here from you! We all know about being busy!!! Just keep popping in and letting us know how it is going!!

I see Paige isn't getting as many turns on the computer, bad DH! I miss Robin getting lunch time on the computer (hope your still doing good) And I hope Joetta gets us an update soon, I hope all is ok!!!

I have to get ready for work, and more cleaning tonight! So I'll check back tomorrow!!!

I did a bunch of research yesterday on ideal weight and for my height (5'7") and build (medium) everything says no lower than 135. I'm really frustrated because the scale and I don't agree. I know I should stay off it, but I can't

I guess I just need to keep eating healthy and not too much and keep exercising. I am happy with the way my body is shaping up and that is what matters - right?

If I don't see any real results by mid summer I'll re-evaluate what I am doing and maybe try something different like WW or SB. There is a group organizing at the hospital where I work for WW, but I'm not totally sold on the group meeting thing just yet. I like you girls for my support on my own time schedule.

Well I have today off because I have to work on Sunday. I'm going to take Bella to the lake, wash the car, do a little housework and shopping. It's supposed to be 87 degrees here today. WOW! That's hot!

Have a great one and I'll check in later!

Default Thank You!

Thanks for the warm welcome! This seems like a good place. Think I'll stick around for a while

Don't hate me, but I am loving the excersise I am a walker from way back....always loved it since I was a kid...but unfortunately it is the only thing I like to do...better than nothing I suppose....looking into possibly adding some light weights to my routine.

I was on hiatus on and off....mostly off since I had my son 2 &1/2 years ago...lots of other changes, so walking took a back seat, and before I knew it I gained 15+ lbs on my already overweight body, I was never very good about watching what I ate, I did ok, never ate alot of fast food, but was not good about portion control (I at least maintained while I was walking) but got out of control this past year....no excersise...stress eating...I am definately a stress eater....learning to stop that

It's nice to meet you all of you!

Hi Everyone! I am brand spankin' new to this site and thread. And after reading may other threads, this one looks like the one I would love to be part of!

Just like most of you, I am outta my house by 6:45am and don't get home until 6:30 - 7:00pm. It stinks.....because most days I am stuck in rush hour for an hour in the morning and at least another hour in th afternoon. I am fortunate not to have a child that would be subjected to my schedule, but am concerned what I am going to when I do decide to have children. 32 and my clock is tickin'.

Then the most difficult time comes along.....dinner time. What do I make, what do I feel like making.....and I always end up making two meals because I have a fiance who has the metabolism of someone with a hyper thyroid (very jealous of him). It's difficult to motivate myself to even cook dinner nonetheless exercise, which never happens because I am so very tired. How do you stay motivated????

I am getting married in the begining of October and am concerned that I will not meet my goal weight and am feeling especially large today. In the beginning, I was losing about 2 pounds a week and now I am losing like 1/2 lb. every two weeks. And I of course am sitting here thinking about what I can eat, and I just finished eating lunch...that's bad bad bad bad....

Well, I'm glad to have found this site and want to wish everyone success in this arduous task we all have decided to take on!

Talking 149!!!!!!!

I know that I said I was staying off the scales until Sunday, but I couldn't resist. I weighed 149 this morning!!!!! The 140's!!!!!! I'm so happy. I hope I never see the 150's again. I'm loving SB. I've never been on any diet where I've lost so much weight so quickly. I didn't even lose this much on Atkins and I was really miserable on it. I think I lost 8 pounds the first 2 weeks on Atkins and this makes 11 pounds in 12 days! Phase 2 is coming in 2.5 days, and it seems it gets easier every day. My cravings have practically stopped and you girls know from my posts that I'm a carb binger. Can you tell I'm happy? I'm planning on a step aerobics class at 6:45 tonight and some weights.

Julie-Welcome! I think that would be great if you incorporate some weights in your workout. It helps so much. Building that muscle will speed up your metabolism and you'll burn more calories each day. I'm a stress eater also. Usually the only time I feel a lot of stress is when I'm at work, so that's my biggest challenge. It is a pleasure to meet you!

Kerry-Thanks for putting a smile on my face. Enjoy your day off!

Marie-Great job staying on plan and upping your workouts. You'd be surprised how many extra calories you burn by upping resistance. The way I look at it is if I'm going to be working out, I might as well be getting the maximum benefit and burn as many calories as possible. I go lighter on my hair in the spring and darker in the fall also. I think it's fun changing haircolor.

Lori-It sounds like you're getting a great workout with all of the housecleaning. I probably need to try that one.

Melexies-Welcome! Congrats on the upcomming wedding! Wow-33 pounds lost....how'd you do it girl, if you don't mind my asking? That's awesome!

Welcome melexies,

Congratulations on your up coming wedding!

Are you doing your own plan? Or are you on something like WW?

Seems like I am starting a situation such as yours as my weightloss seems like it could be slowing. I too was losing about 2lbs a week until this past week when I lost only 1/2 lb. From what I hear that is perfectly normal and the recommendation I got was to maybe increase excersise time or add a little weight, so I am going to try that. I have already increased my walking time in the past two days from 45 mintues to almost 1 hour. We'll see if that helps. The folks on this board are very helpful!

Try to be patient with the loss, even if you continue to lose 1/4 per week that is still very good, not to mention healthy! You will be down another 5lbs by your wedding! Much better than gaining!

Looks like you are doing wonderfully so far! 33lbs is a great accomplishment! What did you do to get to this point? If you have not been excersising at all then I would think once you start that would be a great boost! Do you have time to work out at lunch? Is there an area you can walk around? Is there a club/gym near work that you could join? I try to fit as much excersise as I can at lunch so I don't have to after work since I am so busy when I get home. I do manage 15-20 minutes most mornings before work, but I get most of my walking in at lunch.

Also wondering how tall you are...133 does not sound like a bad weight to be especially if you are taller.

Kim - Thanks for the welcome and the good wishes : How'd I do it.....Well, I started keeping a journal of EVERYTHING I ate EVERY day. I limited myself to anywhere between 1000-1200 calories a day. Yes, that little because I am barely 5 feet tall with a small frame. I found things that taste awesome that I had forgotten taste so awesome lots and lots of fruit, veggies, boca burgers, turkey taco salad, fish/shellfish almost every night for dinner, no complex carbs after 5:00pm, white cheddar corn cakes, pickles, salads with Fat Free Ranch dressing with bacon bits. I cut out all artificial sweeteners (except for Sweet n Low) especially sucralose (Splenda), because it was making my digestive system ill, literally. Bad stuff! And last but not least, I am drinking innerlight supergreens, which is an additive to the 3/4 - 1 gallon of water I drink every day.

I really just need to start exercising. I feel so lazy and lethargic!

Hi Julie! And thanks for the congrats! As you can see from the post above, I am doing my own thing and I am a little person, so that is why I am not happy in the 130's. The lunchtime is great idea, but I work in downtown Miami, FL and just isn't beautiful nor is the humidity. I would be kind sweaty upon my return to the office. I am going to go back to the Yoga studio on Tuesday's and see how I fair. I practiced Yoga 3 times a week about 8 months ago and then had to travel for work and had the poor excuse of getting out of the habit of exercising. This tuesday, I AM going back. I felt so good when I was practicing. Very enlightning.

I guess I really shouldn't complain since I have lost all the weight since January 3 of this year and also quit smoking in the process. Sometimes it is hard to appreciate all you have done for yourself when you are not as sucessful as you had wished/hoped for.

I am so very happy I found this thread!! And please keep me posted on if the additional exercise/walking helps. That is awesome that you get and hour of walking in every day.

Hi again melexies,
Can you tell I am having a slow day at work Anyhow...I can totally relate to being short. I am 5ft 2 which is why I am going for 125 I can also relate to the sweaty thing, fortunately I have my own office and can close the door ! Anyway today was only 55 degrees when I went for a walk, didn't break much of a sweat, but yesterday was 83 degrees Ahh the joys of leaving in the northeast! Good luck with the yoga class!

Welcome Melexies!! We love to get new working stiffs on boards with our madness!! It sounds like you and I have done a lot of the same things to lose weight without exercise. I journaled every morsel that passed my lips for months, then stopped and recently went back to it. I lost the first 15 pounds with little to no exercise. Then everyone here started lecturing me so I started exercising. I lost more and then I've gained some. Not sure why, but I think it might be from weight lifting and because I stopped counting everything. So it's back to counting, but I actually feel good about myself for exercising. I'm in the South too and it's too hot and humid here now to workout outside. I joined a gym and even though I don't feel like I completely fit in, it's good for me to go and get in that frame of mind and exercise. CONGRATS on the upcoming wedding and all the weight lost.

Well all you petite ladies have made me feel a bit better about my recent goal change. I'm like half a foot taller and definitely a medium build. So TEN more pounds it is. I bought size 8 skirts today! I was shocked and happy. I really think my waist has slimmed since exercising and working those abs to death!

WAY TO GO KIM!!! Welcome to the 140s. I hope you don't linger in them as long as I have. I'm glad SB is working so well for you. If things don't change for me, I'm going to have to do something drastic as well.

I had a great day off. I didn't fit in a nap like some people, but I did get up to the lake with Bella and she wen't swimming. I cleaned the car and worked on my tan Then went shopping for some clothes that fit. Now I gotta go make dinner. I'm making my LF baked chicken parm. Yum!

It's almost FRIDAY!!!
