Morning Biker Chicks....
Thanks for noticing the new avatar and new attitude......I know what I have to do to reach my goal....
This a.m. 30 minutes recumbent x-bike, ab tape, bun&thigh roller tape.....
Plan on doing 30 more on x-bike tonight.
First day on plan went really well, I guess it's just like riding a bike..
Tomorrow when I go to the foot doctor I'm gonna ask him if I can restart Jazzercise. Ofcourse I would modify what I do, but I think he will say yes becuz he is an exercise nut and a sports doctor......
This board is really busy with all the New Years resolution people, I got frozen two or three times yesterday......
later chicks....
Hugs
Funny you should mention the new year resolution folks. I went to JC last night and it was a zoo in there. I guess everyone wants to lose weight. I hear most won't follow through for more than a month or so. I am on the 50 lbs lost bulletion at JC and my consultant told me she can't believe how many people have commented on my weight loss. I had someone I don't hardly know come in to my office yesterday and congratulate me on my loss. It sorta of feels strange as I am the same person as always but people notice the new thinner me. I can hardlly wait to see when I get the rest of this off. Anyhow chicks work work work those fat cells off. Have a great one all!
Happy New Year Harley Mom -- Since I have lost 30 pounds about three times, I can tell you what will happen. Men that never talked to you before will all of a sudden start talking to you, they will even be nice. You will get attention that you always deserved but somehow never got...it will feel really funny/strange. You will go clothes shopping and still take size 20's into the dressing room even though you are about a 8/10 (the sales girl will want to kill you, BUT even SHE will be nicer to you) And yes, you will be the same person you were - just being treated WAY better.
Atleast that's what happened to me.....
Let me know....Hugs - you rock.....
I think you need a ticker......
The pity party is over and I'm working on my attitude! I've altered my signature to show my new challenge to myself. This year I'm going to do each of the things listed and keep a talley of them and I'll update them whenever I log on. I'm also not going to count calories points or anything like that. My new way of life is to eat one reasonable portion of the foods I normally eat (low fat, higher protien, good "clean" food) and then stop. That's it. STOP. If, after 30 minutes, I'm still hungry then I can have more food. After a week of this, I haven't had to eat again because I was hungry-imagine that! I can do this!
Looks like just about everyone is back . Not that I was jealous of your extended vacation or anything. Did anyone have a chance to get out the bikes and do any riding? I sure hope so, I hate that my bike is all snug away in it's shed.
How was the exercising Star? I bet it feels pretty good, doesn't it! Gina and HarleyMom you guys are doing great! 2Frustrated, hang in there, plateaus do go away...eventually! Hi Rebel!
I'm glad all of you had good holidays, now it's back to work and lose lose lose!!!
I am going to update my stuff, too. I'm not sure how to track exercise or make myself accountable for it. Any suggestions? I am going to make 2 tickers. One for a 10% goal and then eventually a long term goal ticker, I think. I'm still playing around with it and what will be more motivating for me. I'm not sure what my "ultimate" goal will be since I have so much to lose. For now, I would just be thrilled to be under 200 pounds. I do know one thing...to get to 200 pounds I have to lose 80 pounds or 10 pounds 10x, which for some reason just sounds easier. I even took a short walk today with my husband. We have an appointment with the dietician in February, so I hope that helps. I worry about him. I worry that b/c of my weight problem that I'm not enough help to him. I just know one thing for sure...we have to get off our butts and get busy with this!
I am indeed biking - it's cold today, it's forecast snow for today & tomorrow. Grrrr!
I'm still trying to bust my a$$ with the running and the weights and the eating well. If I did any more I'd be a puddle on the floor! WARNING, mini pity party IT'S NOT FAIR! Can I have the smallest violin please?
I am being SO good it's ridiculous! Anyway apart from that I had a CAGER moment this morning as I was filtering. I was just astounded that this guy pulled out and turned right in front of me, even though I beeped at him to tell him I was overtaking!
Okay, maybe I need to calm down... Maybe chocolate would solve it.. maybe I need more chocolate in my diet, maybe that's why I'm plateauing!
Star, Yes I have already noticed a difference in sales people. Before I couldn’t find one when I needed them now I can’t keep them from bugging me when I am trying to cloths shop. Very interesting. I have noticed men seem to treat me a little nicer too. Open doors and just seem to be a little more tentative. DH can’t keep his hands off me which does annoy me at times. It surprises me how much prejudice there is about being overweight. I never realized it. I am still over weight I can’t believe how much difference just loosing 50 lbs has made.
Did any of you watch the biggest loser last night? It made me crazy to see the winning family lost so much weight in 5 months. The mom lost 78 lbs and the dad over 100 something, daughter was 48 lbs. I couldn’t believe it. You could tell the minute they walked out that they had lost the most weight out of the two families. They are having another special next week with engaged couples. Who ever wins gets a 50,000 dollar wedding.
Kathy, you go girl. Keep up the positive attitude!
Rebel, a nutritionist will be helpful. My husband goes to see one periodically and the information they give is invaluable to us. I think what we all need to remember is there is no ONE right way to lose weight. Everybody is different and everybody needs to find what works for them best. Get educated and figure out what works for you and your hubby. Don’t let anyone tell you there way of weight loss is the only one.
2 Frus not riding here too cold! I have to say the older I get the more I become a fair weather rider. Sorry chicks this girls not hard core and don’t want to get cold. It is hard enough in the spring here. If you get into the high country you could get in 30 degree weather in May. I do have access to my scoot any time as it lives in the garage and my car lives outside. After all my scoot is worth more than my car.
Ok Chicks I have gone on and on and on………..ENOUGH. Have a great day all.
Morning Chicks...Biker Babes
I agree 100% with Harleymom about riding in the cold - yuck! But I'll say it again - I'm the Queen Sissy Rider of Michigan.....LOL Our bikes are in storage at our up north place - all warm and cozy in a headed garage.....Dh rides in much colder weather than me but even he won't ride here when he face starts to freeze.....
Rebel - Love the new avatar and the new attitude. It is much easier to look at the short term goals, 10pounds is perfect, I'm also doing that right now. Otherwise the goal just seems too far away and almost unattainable. Glad DH is going for professional help, it should help both of yous!
Kathy - love you new look also! Sounds like you have rethought your attack also and it sounds really good! You go girl!
2Fu - you are always giving 100% - so what can I say? Just stay out of the way of all the crazy cagers out there, live long enuf to enjoy that perfect body!!
I won't post my daily exercise here, becuz I post that on a thread called "Exercise Yard" over at the LAWL site...BUT I am exercising morning and night again and it feels awesome!!!
2 fru - filtering...whazzat? Is it lane splitting - where when traffic is really slow or stopped you ride between the cars? BTW - chocolate is always the answer... I still don't really know what broke the plateau - I kind of backed off the exercising a little because I was having dizzy spells...not the amount ot exercise but the high heart rate stuff...
Star - no new plan for me - I'm not much for New Years Resolutions...not that it's a bad idea - just that what I'm doing now finally seems to be working. No sense in jinxing it...
I'm a wuss about riding in the cold, too...and my idea of cold is probably a lovely spring day for all of you...
Harleymom - I watched BL last night - amazing what a gym instead of a couch and the promise of $50K will do for motivation. Those people all kicked (!) though. As for people's reactions to you - in addition to you looking great, they could also be reacting to your new confidence...
Kathy - I like your exercise ticker idea....it's all good motivation! and your eating plan sounds like something that you should be able to maintain long term...IMO that's the most important thing.
HarleyMom- You are so right about finding what works for you. I just know that common sense calorie control works well for me. Plus exercise...which is not my favorite thing to do... Speaking of which, I did see the Biggest Loser last night. Ok, if we had cool scenic hilly trails like that here where I live I would LOVE to hike.
Speaking of the Biggest Loser...pretty shocking how much weight that family lost. We all know that they work their butts off, but what do they eat to lose that much in such a short time? Diet jello? I REALLY wish they would show us a "day in the life" of the Losers. How much exercise, intensity, amount, and food.
Star- I am so glad that you are able to workout again...since I know how much you love it. When do you see your foot doctor? I was just curious if he gave the A-ok on Jazzercise. Speaking of which I saw a commercial for it on tv...looks fun. If we had one closer by, I would consider joining.
2fru- What's the temperature like there? You are doing so excellent with the food and exercise!
Gina- I hear ya about riding in the colder weather. I usually never get on the bike until late March or April. Although, my husband has been on it a few times for a spin around town. Plus, I feel way too fat to be on it right now. That really bothers me. So, if I hang in there by March or April I should feel like a new woman!
Kathy- Hey there girl!
I saw on here a link under the Cool Runners forum something about going from couch potato to running a 5k in so many weeks. I might look into that. When I used to jog, I had a blast. Although, I was under 200 pounds. So, for now I just need to get some off and maybe start a running program.
I cant wait until tomorrow. This is only my 2nd day of work this week and I'm sick and tired of it already. Having so much time off is really hard on me, because its hard to come back to the Terrors (aka children).
Andrea - 2006 is the year we will all make our goals......becuz we are just that tough!
I go to the foot doctor in 15 minutes and I'm gonna ask about Jazzercise..My foot looks fantastic and it doesn't hurt anymore....I'll get back on here when I return and let you no if he gives me the go-ahead.....Jazzercise is a hoot - all ages and sizes there too. You just have to work it at your own pace and can make it really hard or really easy......
I saw the Biggest Loser too. Those two families did awesome. I would guess that they are on like 1200 calorie diets and the key is what they eat, along with alot of exercise......Plus the carrot at the end, being $50,000......
Be back soon.....
Hugs.....
Just got back from foot doctor - he gave me the go ahead for all exercise, including Jazzercise. Matter of fact, he told me to use the heck out of the foot, wants to get me use to all the flexability I have now.....oh-rah.....
So tonight I plan on going by Jazzercise and signing up again...it's on Mon, Wed and Thrus nights for an hour........I really liked it alot.....
Trina, that's great that you can get back to Jazzercise! Yeah! I'm sure that make you feel so much to be back into everything...and I agree...we are all gonna meet our goals this year. I think that it would be kinda fun to have a secret Valentine contest between us for our Biggest Loser...or something...

I have always wondered this...if you ate 1200 calories of starchy low fat foods would you lose as much as if you ate more protein? Someone told me that a calorie is a calorie and it doesn't matter (in terms of weight loss) if it comes from an apple or piece of candy...as long as it's all calorie controlled you can eat healthy foods or junk. I'm not sure about that. So, it makes me wonder how important fat grams really are. I mean if people can lose a ton on Atkins and eat massive amounts of fat daily, but yet some people lose bunches eating low fat even if it is more carbs. I guess you have to choose plan and stick to it!
