Mornin' Chickies~~
Rain again...that seems to be what happens when we go w/o any for a long time...BUT i did get out and walk yesterday regardless of getting rained on. My hubbys nephew came over to bird hunt and got me motivated to get out there too. I put on rain gear and at good brimmed hat and off we went. We had a nice time together, me reminiscing on my old hunting partner--my bird dog (practically my kid!)who has been gone 2 1/2 yrs now! Can't believe it's been that long. Anyway we came back w/o any game in our packs,(we chased some around!)--got a bit wet--since my boots leaked! - but glad i went out and got some exercise in. Was so good to see the nephew. He is married one year now and their little son is starting to crawl. Good to catch up with him.

My DH got me the new Michelle Branch cd for my birthday. The sweetie. Well, i hint pretty good I have been playing it alot. The whole cd sounds great. I picked it for the one song"are you happy now?" and turns out they are all great. She also has a duet on there w/Sheryl Crow. Sometimes a cd can be that way and then i practically wear it out.

~~CAT~~Glad the place was packed for storytelling night. And that you had fun. Sorry to hear your son has this stone...in his salivary duct? Never heard of that...what do they do for it??
The stories at church---what did you mean that they are finally letting you do them?

~~LITTLE CHICK~~~ you sound so very busy w/the gymnastics. Did you always enjoy that sport? YGG~ And best of luck w/weigh in...i am still reading all i can on SBD and i see how on Phase I so much is usually lost. Hope it happens for you too. I think it slows down alot when you go to Phase II, but if a person could lose inches it would be even better! Let us know how you do on Tuesday for sure!

~~NITA~~ Hope you had a nice time w/your company...and how long do these pinnocle games take to finish? I guess i really don't know how to play it. I had a pouch of those no pudge brownies one time--they seem pretty decadent for fat free don't they?
Thanks for the recipe ideas again! Looking forward to hear from Pat--a new member here would be great!

Well, got to go get ready to go to my mom's. B.D. cake awaits! I guess i will have some since it's for me. But i am planning to just have a BLT for this evenings meal. I have one big tomato from the garden that is just perfect now.

Have a great Sunday all~~ i will look back in this eve.

Hello my chickie friends, pretty quiet around here this week-end. I guess I had been bragging a little too much about the beautiful weather, because we are going to get today and it is windy although the wind is nice and warm. I have had a great week-end with my eating, even with the stress my DH put my under, he decided to fall off the ladder when I wasn't here, my neighbour had to call me at my girlfriends to tell me I had to rush him into the emergency room. He fell about 6 feet and landed on his tailbone and then fell backwards giving himself whiplashand a concussion. What a day.

Thin- I am trying to hang on weighing myself till Tuesday morning as that is the day that I start phase 2. It really has not been that bad. I have lost all the sugar cravings and I am feeling quite good. You can always try it and see how you do. Have a great day at your moms and enjoy your

Nita- hope you enjoyed your night with you freinds. How is your new bodybyjake? Have a great day.

Cat- so sorry to hear about your son. Sending him an

Have a great OP day.

To the rest of you fab chickies hope you are having a wonderful day. Keep on

Default good evening

A note before bed--

LC--sorry to hear about your DH. Hope he is fine.

Thin-- apparently you treat a stone in the salivary gland by drinking lots of water, sucking lemon drops (to encourage saliva) and, if that doesn't work, they go in with a probe (ugh).

About the stories at church, I just mean that they haven't done much to find a place for me to tell. But I'll be telling Jacob and Esau (not one of my favorites) in a few weeks.

Know I am behind on everyone, but I will make a new start tomorrow.

Best to all--

Good Mornin Chickies
Monday Momday - the beginning of another week! I want this to be a good eating week ............ just for once to see if it makes any difference to the scales. I am a little out of control ........ not too much but enough to hold on to the fat! I have to cut down on my treats - I have too many of them and apart from other unhealthy reasons it is keeping me fat! So I will try and cut them by half - instead of having a whole biscuit and a large cup of coffee I will have a half biscuit and a small cup of coffee. I will make sure and drink plenty of water so that I don't get too hungry. That doesn't sound too difficult does it?
Some of you asked what a Deputy Head Girl is. Orla is in her final year at school before she goes on to university. At the start of every year the pupils vote for their classmates in the final year. A Headboy and Headgirl are chosen and then a Deputy Headboy and girl. Their duties are really to help the teachers during the year such as on Prize Day the Headboy and girl have to make a speech thanking guests and presenting various gifts. Although the pupils vote for who they want it is the teachers who get the final say in who gets picked.
Woops gotta go now .................

Even better
If you could experience, in a single moment, all of the things of which you are capable, it would truly and literally overwhelm you. If you could see, in one look, the abundance of possibilities open to you, it would be too much to take in at one time.
Yet there is no need to take it in all at once. There is every reason and every opportunity to savor the goodness of life as it comes, moment by moment and day by day.

What you see in front of you right now is magnificent, and more than enough to fill this moment. And yet it is only a tiny glimpse of al the richness that life has to offer. There is plenty that can be accomplished in this moment. Make the most of it now, and the next moment will arrive with even more possibility, even greater opportunities.

As you move through life, you can continually fill it with richness. For every goodness you experience will stay with you, while opportunities for even more just keep coming. Live fully the richness of this day, and give it the best that you have. Nurture your best possibilities, and they grow even better.

Hello Ladies,
Had a great weekend. Our fundraiser was a success. Not sure how much we raised, but the goal was 1million. I think their was close to 3000 people out there. I did not give in to that big burger I was craving on friday, instead I had some turkey breast, green beans & some sweet potatoe cassrole. At the walk site on saturday there was lots of goodies, but I ate breakfast on the way to the site, & once I got their I was so busy, didn't have time to eat. On sunday I noticed a 1 lb loss, but it was back this morning. I'm on phase 2 & it's seems harder, you can incorporate a fruit, or a bread, or oatmeal, but if you notice a gain, then you are suppose to cut back. The book says sometimes it takes a while to figure out what makes you gain the weight & what does not. I'm still not craving the sweets & that is a big suprise to me.
My computer is still in the shop. Hoping to hear from them this week.

Hello Chicks~~
Kept pretty busy today...maybe it was partly cause a person had to to stay warm. We got down to 28 degrees last night and it sounds like thru Friday we will be this cold! Wow, fall is just about skipping us. The colors on the trees aren't real pretty, but at this rate they will be falling off quickly. Rain/snow mix predicted for the rest of the week too, so not only cold but nasty! Makes you see why the population never booms around here

The sun did shine for 1/2 the day today and we went to the lake and took a ride on the pontoon boat. There is a couple at their place for the week(from Chicago area) and they don't have a boat right now, so we took them for a nice ride to see the fall colors and had a nice talk. With no one else out on the water at all, it seemed like it was a private lake or something. Very nice in that regards. Then my DH being the sweetie he is, he moored at their place and left them the pontoon to use for a few days. They are getting some company Tues and will now be able to take them for a "color tour" on the lake. We are nearly ready to call the marine place to have them come and take out the boat and bring it back here to our yard for the winter. Esp. if this weather won't leave-- it will be time.

Tomorrow we will be packing some food to stay at the lake for a few days, so i might not be able to post till about Thurs or so. Stay strong all!

~~1DAY~~ wow, congrats on all the work to raise that money. And it's nice to be too busy to think of snacking on things. YGG~
I would imagine it is hard to be on Phase II and see any kind of gain. Maybe a person should journal at that time to try to weed out just what seems to be the worst food for you. Glad you still don't have sugar cravings. That is hard to believe how good that part works! Proud of you.
Hope they get your computer back to you soon!

~~CAT~~ 's for your DH and DS. Hope they are both starting to feel better.

~~MOOZ~~ Good idea to keep cutting the treats in half. I had 1 slice of spice birthday cake at my mom's and took some home, but i am making it last. A little bit was had again tonite, but i won't have the ice cream! Trying to only have one little snack --not all of them at once!

Well, going to go and watch some tv w/DH. Nite all.

Good Evening Everyone,

Well, it is still very hot in Phoenix--and people are really getting grumpy. I did manage to do 25 min. on the treadmill this morning and I am hoping to do another 30 this evening while watching Dr. Phil. I had a chance to review one of his bars at WalMart and they are high in sugar as well as 220 cal. and if I remember correctly 5 or 7 fats. Also his vitamins are packaged for the different shapes of people--apple, pear, etc. I think someone mentioned that he is not making anything off these items but is giving it to charity. I sure hope that is a "correct" statement.

I am still about 1-1/2 lbs. away from where I should be to weigh in this week, but I am going to try and do my very best!

Even though my Body by Jake is ready to go it has just been too hot in the garage to get with the program. I do see many good possibilities with it though and I am anxious to get started.

Well I had better go and check out the rest of my e-mails. Keep up the good work and may you all have a wonderful week!

Hi chickies just a quick hello before I go off to bed. It has been a very busy day. DH's Dr put him off work for the week. He is still not feeling that great. I have got 2 new families this week. So I have been very busy with the kids. I had to hire my girlfriend to come and work with me full time. She was part time but I am busier now. Well the diet is still going well. I have managed to stay off the scales but my clothes feel looser. Well I must go talk to ya all later.

Hi chicks--

It seems like I only get to post about once a week nowadays.

I had a very, very nice visit with my DM. She's not doing very well - in fact we signed her up for hospice while I was out there. They come out two or three times a week now, but that will probably increase as she becomes less able to care for herself. She's having more difficulty breathing, so they brought an oxygen machine, which is helping.

It was great to see her, but very difficult to leave. I am very grateful that I got the chance to see her and spend time with her though. That was very special.

This weekend, I'm going to Northern California to visit my father for 4 days. I'm really looking forward to seeing him!! My sister is coming up from Southern California to visit our dad on Saturday just for the weekend.

Guess what else? My DH got a job! It's a contract job through the end of January. He'll be installing new servers and upgrading all of the computers in all of the offices of various insurance agencies throughout southeastern wisconsin. There's a bit of driving involved, but mostly the offices are right around where we live. Occasionally he may have to drive as much as 30 to 45 minutes away, but that's no problem at all. He's in Illinois all this week for training, so I'm taking care of the house, the puppies and kitties this week -- and missing him -- I don't see him again until I get back from CA on Tuesday night. But we're so happy he's got a job, we aren't going to let this short time apart get us down. No way!

Anyway, I'd better get back to work.

Thin -- Happy belated birthday!

Hugs and angels to all of you!

Michelle--
Great news about DH. Maybe he will also make some useful contacts on this job. Sure should help with Christmas. Meanwhile good you could visit with DM while she is still able to talk. Have a good trip to see DD.

LC--sounds like you are doing well.

Dr. told DH he can go back to work on Monday. I'm not sure he's ready, but he was delighted. Incidentally, he[s stopped using the cane. Ray!!

On Fr., I was feeling discouraged about my job. I had a bunch of complicated calls, and then I forgot some basic stuff. But today I did pretty well, I thought, so maybe I'm getting the hang if it,

Hello Ladies,

My computer is fixed... I picked it up today. Apparently it was the power supply, but since it's a HP, they had to order the part. No charge to me, cause I had that extended warrenty.

Mitchellez - I'm so glad you were able to visit your mother. I'm sorry to hear that things are not going well. That is good that you were able to get Hospice in so fast. Is your GM still living with her? I'm glad your going to be able to see your Dad soon. And great news about your hubby! I'm sure it's a load off both your shoulders that he has found work. Maybe this will lead to something more permanent. I'm sure with him going out of town this week, your keeping pretty busy with the house & pets & work. Keeping you in my prayers...

Cat - Good news that your hubby is getting to go back to work! I"m sure having a new job gets a little stressed... I've been at mine for almost 3 years & sometimes I feel like it's the first day... I had been at my previous one for 15 years & I knew everything about it.

As for me, still on the SBD & it's going well. I really don't have alot of cravings. This week I have not noticed any weight loss. I have got to get back on track with the exercise. Last week my excuse was my fundraiser, getting ready for it... and this week I have no excuse. Tomorrow is the first day of October so my goal for this month is 5 lbs... I know I can do it...

Thin, LittleChick, Mooz, Chacha, Hal, Nita - Hope you all are doing ok...

Mornin' chickies - sorry I have not got to post in the last few days but I just seem to have very little spare time. Th end of the month is always busy at work. You may remember a while back I mentioned my niece who was pregnant and had a Tumour in her Pituitary gland ......... last night she had a baby boy. Her sister phoned me at 11pm and said that they were both well. That was all she knew about it but that is tha most important thing.
Gotta rush off now

Changes come

You cannot know precisely what tomorrow will bring. Yet there is one thing about tomorrow of which you can be certain. You can be sure that tomorrow will be, in many ways, different than today. Things will continue to change, as they always do.
Life itself is a process of change. Night follows day, spring follows winter. Some things grow, while others fade. Styles change, markets change, opinions change, and through it all, life moves forward, changing from day to day.

When the changes don't go your way, take heart. For even the changes are subject to change, and if you're down, the next change can bring you back up.

Learn to weather the changes, to roll with the punches and to run when the wind is at your back. And as the changes continue to come, you'll move surely and steadily ahead.

Good morning everyone --

I got up early today to get packed for my trip. As silly as it may sound, I have to pack while my dogs are sleeping because they get a little depressed when either my DH or I go away, and they have been a little blue since my DH has been gone. So I've been taking them to the dog park and for long walks, etc. to keep them happy. (okay, yes, they are spoiled.) Luckily even though I leave tomorrow morning, my DH gets home in the afternoon so they it won't be any different than if I/we were going to work, except that I won't be returning tomorrow evening. But they'll be okay, and they'll just be happy to see me when I get home on Tuesday evening.

Catlover -- That's great that the doc has cleared your DH to go back to work. I hope he's takes good care of himself and does use the cane when he feels he needs to. As for feeling frustrated on the job, we all have bad days or days that don't go right, but I'm sure you're getting the hang of your job and doing just fine. No need to feel inadequate. Dealing with my parents' terminal illnesses have sure helped me put things in perspective...I really do try and not get upset or beat myself up over small things anymore (it's hard because that's been such a way of life for me). I just keep telling myself, "In the grand scheme of things..." and kind of put it in perspective like will it really matter or make a difference in my life or in the world in a year or two or three. For example, I wanted to get some housecleaning done and the Halloween decorations up before I left to visit my dad, but there just hasn't been time. And my first reaction was to beat myself up and feel inadequate for not getting it done. But then I thought...Well, John can do it when he gets home, or I can do it when I get home. No big deal. I've got other, more important things to tend to. Like things to get ready for my trip.

Patty -- I'm so happy you got your computer fixed! Yay! And at no charge, too! Even better! You asked about my GM...yes, she's still living with my DM, but I don't know for how much longer. There may come a point where my DM won't be able to care for her any longer, and then my aunt and cousin who live in New Jersey will come out and get my GM and take her to live with them since they my aunt is home all day and my GM needs that.

It is a huge relief that DH found a job. I don't know if this job will lead to something permanent as once all the computers are upgraded there will likely be no open positions for him. But it will look good on his resume, and may lead to something with another company or maybe this recruiter/placement agency will be able to find him something else. We're not even thinking about that now...we're just glad he's got something for the next few months. Phew!

Sounds like you and a couple of the other chicks are doing great on SBD! That's awesome! Good for you!! I'm really proud of you, and I just know you'll have a very successful October because you sound so determined!

Mooz -- I'm so glad to hear your niece delivered her son and they're both doing well. Are you still walking daily and taking dancing classes and painting? I feel so out of touch...I apologize. I just loved the Marston quote you posted. Thank you for sharing it.

Thin, LittleChick, Chacha, Hal, Nita - Hope you all are doing ok... I've missed you all a lot.

It feels really good to be back. Of course, now I'm going to California for several days starting tomorrow and may not be able to post until next week.

Hi Chickies, life is well here in New Brunswick. It is getting a little colder, but I guess it is Oct. SBD is still going well. I lost a total of 9 pounds in the first phase. I have added apples as my fruit to phase 2 mostly because it is apple season. Well I wish I had time to talk to each of you but I am busier than ever during the day. This is just a quickie this morning. Mooz I am so happy to hear about your niece. What wonderful news. Michelle I am so glad that you are getting to spend time with your parents. I miss you to. Have a wonderful trip. Hope the rest of you have a great day to.
