As I suspected, I am up in weight but not down in spirit. It is only 2 and a bit pounds. It isn't the end of the world. I am back on track, stocked up on supplements and motivation. My centre was encouraging to me. The big picture for me is that I am off work, flat on my back, and still losing weight. That is impressive. Once I am able to get active again WATCH OUT!

Meme: Great work on the better-than-expected weigh in... I always love it when that happens! How long til you think you think you'll be up and moving more? I'm sure it will help a lot and the remaining weight will come off steadily!

Witchie: Great job on the loss, hope the inches are coming off well too! It's amazing how much a good weigh in helps reassure you that the struggle and making proper choices is worth it! I also avoid eating out like the plague. It's just way easier not too.

I am doing my best to heal but unfortunately it is mostly a waiting game. I have the tendency to push myself too hard too fast and with back injuries you just can't do that. It is a waiting game filled with appointments with specialists and lots of physio. I hope I will be better in a month... but I have been saying that for over 2 months now. I really am chomping at the bit to get moving. I just read up on a fun fitness craze called NIA. I so wish I could try it!!!
I am satisfied with my results but do wish I could do this quicker! Don't we all....
Michele and Witchie: Do you both have the eating out guide in case of emergencies?

Meme: Hopefully this month your wish comes true! I have the eating out guide (and have satisfied my McDonald's craving a few times) The amount and type of food you get just doesn't seem satisfying enough for me though! haha.

Picked up a few things from the frozen food guide to have on hand if need be as well. I think it's usually a sauce that I'm craving and figured I might as well try out some frozen meals that have them included in the calculations. Also had a chicken burger for a great treat on Sunday night! Yummy... even got the mayo in! Just missed out on the ketchup for dipping!

Default OH my I finally am able to post!!!!

Hello there!!!! I have been reading all your posts for the last week and I finally am able to come on and introduce myself!!!

I am on the HM program.... this is my second week.. I am down 5 pounds. I am having my measurements taken tomorrow and I am excited.. but not to get on the scale.. I am always nervous getting on the scale.

About me... I am 38 years old, I live in Ontario Canada. I am married and have 2 wonderful active in sports children. I work full time 12 hour nights so this whole eating thing is a BIG challenge especially since the only thing open on our breaks is a Tim Hortons!!

You will soon realize I like to talk alot and tend to be longwinded so bear with me.

I have tried HM a few years back but I paid my money and quit after a month because I don't think I was in the right frame of mind. And this time around knowing that I have the dining out guide and other options...makes it a little more doable. Especially when we are on a tournament weekend for sports and the majority of time you are eating out. I have tried all of the plans I have been in and out of WW so many times and I have been online 4 times only to not succeed. I need to be accountable to someone and I think this time I will succeed.

I just finished watching the biggest loser and everytime I have tears in my eyes because I understand the feeling they are going through.. I want the success that they have!!!

My next question is.... exercise... should you do it or not??? Has anyone asked their centre exactly how many calories we are eating???

Here are my statistics:

5'5"

228/223/140

I think I can I think I can.....

Welcome Lee2Lee. You can do this! Congrats on your 5 lb loss.

Exercise is important to your health and well-being. You don't have to go crazy but they say that getting moving enhances weightloss. Plus, in the long run you are developing a new lifestyle that will only lead to feeling good, more energy, and pride in self. Not to mention a toned body.

About calories, it depends on the program you are on:
Any of us can approximate... but it depends on the food choices you are making.
For example... if you look at my food for yesterday... it was probably approximately a 1000 calorie day. I am on QLPI.
2 starch, 2 protein, 3 veggies, 2 fruit, 1 dairy, 2 fat, 1 Free exchange (no free exchange for me right now) I measure everything and that seems to make all the difference plus I try and choose lower glycemic index foods more often than not.
For example: Egg whites vs. Ground Beef, Broccolli vs. carrots, Berries vs. Bananas - I find that the lower calorie choices are just as filling and satisfying... and at the end of the day my body feels light and energetic.

Today's menu:
2 eggs fried with 1 tsp margarine - 1 Protein, 1 fat
1/2 c pineapple - 1 fruit

2 cup coffee + 1/4 c milk - 1/4 dairy

Lunch:
1 cup whole wheat pasta - 1 starch
2 med tomatoes chopped and cooked with garlic, 1/2 tsp olive oil, spices

Snack: 1 cup Berries - 1 Fruit
1/4 cup non fat yogurt - 1/2 dairy

Supper:
4 oz steak
1/2 tsp olive oil
1 cup salad (sprayed with salad spritzer)

Hello Lee! Welcome to the forum an congrats on the loss so far!

In regards to exercise, I'm just getting into it now. For the first month on the program I found that I had very limited energy and absolutely no desire to go. Now that my energy level has increased and I am seeing the difference on the scale have decided to try and make it 4 times a week. I will not beat myself up if it doesn't fit into my schedule, but I will try my best!

I should be more like Meme and pay attention to the choices I am making, but fortunately I am happy with the way things are progressing. I just make sure that I pick things off the plan and weigh or measure them out. I don't really pay attention to the types of choices I am making, but may do so if I hit a plateau somewhere along the way.

I'm assuming they started you on QLPII?? I was on it when I first started but got switched to QLP I when I got out of the 200s. Really missing my extra fruit!

Todays menu

honey nut cheerios (1S)

clementine (1/2 F)

Pork chop (1 P)
peas (1 V)
yogurt (1/2 D)
clementine (1/2 F)
rice cake (1 S)

Smothie (1/2D, 1 F)

Supper??? - Some kind of meat with sweet potato and peas (fish maybe... haven't doen that in a while and hubby, who doesn't like it, isn't home!)

Free Exchange - Depends what I'm craving after the gym!

Hope everyone had an awesome day!

thought y'all might like this. I took 2 pages and linked over and this neat little site made these. the words that are bigger are because it sees they are used more. It really shows how life reflects in our goals and weightloss..how there are so many complex issues that make it harder to lose.
I linked it to my blog site and was surprised to see how much i reflect on certian things. Anyways..here are the 2 I did here... and here is the website.http://www.wordle.net/

Default Not bad!!!!

I went in yesterday Wednesday and I was down again for a total of 6 point something loss. I am down 5 1/2 inches total body. I am working nights tonight and again tonight so the last time I worked my weekend of nights I was up 1.8 pounds, so I will see today when I go in before my bedtime to see what I weigh.

Does anyone have any suggestions for meal planning for the family. I think if I have a weeks worth of dinner plans I can do better... and then we won't be tempted into junk. I bought both of the cookbooks, but I need to know which recipes people have tried and liked, there are only a few I think my family would really like.

Is there anyone on maintenance on this forum... or does anyone know anyone on maintenance...just wondered whats in store for us once our journey is over.

What do you think the summer will be like for us... barbeques, parties, ice cream store visits... I am already worried about that. My friends are already talking about drinks out on each others decks, going out for mothers day brunch... partying for birthdays... HELP I don't want to miss out on the fun..... I guess we will cross that bridge when we get to it right??

Hope your day is a good one... and those that weigh in I hope it is a happy dance day.

And I like the idea of forum for recipes...just watch out for people lurking around from HM you never know!!!! LOL

Hi Lee, and welcome. I too am pretty new here. One thing I cannot stress more is plan, plan, plan for work. It is absolutely critical for me to plan & pack all my meals ahead for work or else I find myself struggling and stressing out at work because the choices are NOT good. So, the night/day before I pack everything I'm going to need, or else I will find myself eating chips & pop for dinner. I exercise about 3 times a week mostly cardio.

Herbal Magic Recipe Thread....

I have created a Herbal Magic Recipe Thread. Unfortunately I am not allowed to post the link until I have 25 posts. : (
So I guess the best way to find it is to use the search option, but if someone who has more than 25 posts could post it for us that would be much appreciated!

Good job on the loss Lee! I too am having a hard time with the time of year... 3 wedding socials in May, plus all the barbeques. Like witchie said, the best thing you can do is plan, and that goes for the barbeques as well (I'm always the loser that shows up with her own spices - ) If I do end up falling off the wagon I just get up as quick as possible and maybe get a little more exercise in than usual.

I'll try posting a link, but not usually successful with anything related to computers!
