I'm feeling tempted to vent, but I think I'll save you all the melodrama of reading about housemate sagas. In the context of my weight loss journey I will say this – getting into situations that diminish your own lifestyle choices are NOT conducive to losing weight.

I'm in a really bad mood - to the point where I'm not even answering my phone, because I don't want to inflict it on other people.

Suffice to say I will be very surprised if I haven't given my housemate her marching orders by the end of the weekend.

Been eating so much this week that I wouldn't be surprised if I gain two kilos - and this has to stop NOW!

Blurk!

I got my hair all chopped off yesterday. I reckon I've lost about 3 kilos. LMAO. It feels so much more betterer and lighter than air......(fluff..fluff).

ANI Vent away. You know we don't mind. Gosh we have vented at you for HOW long?

Going to Brisbane tomorrow. I am so excited. Haven't been shopping in soooo long up there. I am on a mission for 3 things.
A decent handbag.
A ceramic straightener. (never owned one in my life, but with this new haircut...)
ANd a new laptop.
Oh, sorry... Pancake Manor is on the list for a mission to. I know! I know what yr all gonna say, but I DON'T CARE heehee. I only eat little amounts.

VONNI xxx

PS.... I'm scared about the straightener thing. I don't use hair product or even own a blow dryer so its a whole new world for me.

Vonni, just get the Remington Slimline Ceramic Digital one. It's only about $34.95 on special at Priceline at the moment, but I find it just as good (or better) than the dearer ones.

vonni - hair straightener best tool ever, i got a cheapy then got a complex about having the cheapy then traded it in for the stefan one, worth every penny, i hardly use any product in my hair and find straightening it keeps it shiny and happy.... not everyday but at least once a week.... when jemima will let me

ani - you may find this weird but i want to hear the flatmate stories.... i had a flatmate ONCE and that is it and it was only for about 3 months if that i think then at end of lease i RAN AWAY our problems started coz we were dating brothers so we were too "close" as in we would have to keep in mind we may one day be sister in laws and it was just too weird as we were so different but "close" enough connected we HAD to be nice to eachother and involved in eachothers life
so apart from that and 'single white female' i would love to hear the real deal about having a flatmate....

Julia - how are you going??? you are so motivated at the moment... i need to hear about it to make me realise how slack i am being...

me - been on my old computer and found photos of me 79kg..... that is 10kgs away..... and hot did a li dang did I look heaps better than now.... went to a wedding on the weekend and saw photos of myself, i look like a sausage ho hum slow and steady wins the race
motivation in the way of being embarrssed about how i look is here at the moment..... but i ate a lot of cheese today..... but now none left so wont be an issue

Hi ladies!

Sounds like everyone's been busy with life ...... great to see you all checking in regularly still

Well my week away was very nice and restful. I went walking in the forest for at least an hour of each day that I was away but the food was harder to stick to. Lost the plot completely one day when a friend came to visit - I drank a whole bottle of wine and was way over my points that day.

I've realised that having the structure of my work day is really helpful in adhering to the eating pattern which is best for me.

Went to the gym this morning and got the biggest surprise when I got on the scales ...

89.8kg!

It's years since I was in the 80's! It sure makes all this hard work worthwhile.

Keep on keeping on ladies

Bugger - up 0.5kg today!

But I'm back in control, and have set myself the goal of getting to 85.5kg by next Monday.

Julia - that is AWESOME. Congratulations on getting below 90kg

Kel, I gave my housemate two weeks notice yesterday. I don't believe in prolonging something that is clearly not going to work. She's a nice woman, but has "issues", and there's just no way I can live with her.

I'm difficult to live with: I live and work at home, and like lots of people am pretty set in my ways. If my housemate was working (which she told me she was when she came for her interview) it might have been different - but she's here all the time.

It's just too hard to do, and I thought I would cut my losses with her and just move on.

So my focus now is to get control of my weight loss again, and to get back on track. This week I am going to:

• Eat no more than 1700 calories a day;
• Drink 2 litres water/day;
• Walk for an hour/day; and
• Do an hour of gardening or domestics every day.

I'm not going to undo the good work I've done for the last year. Slip ups and bad weeks are OK - but giving up is NOT an option.

Ani

Oh Ani, I hope you feel better for having made that decision. It's not easy but it sounds like it was the only option for you. Keep up that determination too - YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Righto, I'm off to eat a lamington. Don't worry, it's a weight watchers one and is only 1 point

I feel really relieved, I must say.

My housemate is currently eating a big bowl of hot chips and garlic sauce for breakfast. She's a vegetarian and as thin as a twig

So your WW lamington sounds divine to me! But I just ate a very healthy breakfast, so I'm not even tempted to be naughty… yet!

So as usual I come to confess my sins! Eating too much, drinking waaaaay too much red wine (but sooooo yummy). 3 21st birthdays in 3 weeks.

Anyway, my pennance is to eat celery and drink lots of V8 juice.

Assignments are calling, I'll be back to post properly later.

Ani glad you're reclaiming your house.. what now to pay the rent? Another person?

I am starting this thing again this week. I have gained back about 4 of my kgs the past couple of months, and I'm not cheating anyone but myself.

So far, I stuck to my 1550 cals Monday, and went to the gym, and drank my water. Now I just need to put together 6 or 7 of those days!!

Well not doing weights for the past 2 weeks has really made a difference. I'm so sore today!

Couldn't bring myself to get out of bed early to hit the gym this morning so I'll be going after work. Goal for today is to do 60 minutes cardio. It's cold and I'm sore though so that'll be a challenge.

Gah, I've got so much work to catch up on and one particular issue is turning into a complete nightmare - a different department didn't cancel something and now that I've only just found out a week later it's going to be very messy to try and fix. Grrrr.

I'm currently trying to tame the elliptical trainer/free runner thing - it's so HARD! I struggle to get my HR up on the treadmill now unless I run, so I have switched to the elliptical and my HR sits at 170bpm the whole time, it's great. I'm burning 10-11 cal/min on that thing! The bad news is that I can only last 20 mins... just! But that's up from 10 mins just last week, so I'm improving!

Gen I probably will need to get another person in to help with the rent. I'll sit down and work it out this week and see if I can manufacture a different option .

I've come to the stunning realisation, over the past month's upheavals, that I still think like a fat person - and still fall back into a fat person's habits when things are out of routine for me. And I know that if I am to keep losing weight, and make these changes last, I am going to have to shift my thinking.

So I have set myself a challenge of changing some fundamentals about my lifestyle. I just want to change a few things about the structure of my day so that I can remove myself from some of my "triggers".

It really frustrates me that, since fracturing a vertebrae, my exercise options have shrunk. It also frustrates me that the bloody economy has pushed rental prices up to the point where my own lifestyle choices have had to change.

But that doesn't mean I have to keep punishing myself.

So Gen - I'm with you: a new start!
