The site apprears to be down. I'm not sure why. I'm getting the same error. I'll try to give ya a holler when it comes back up.
Ange...we are right at 100. Typical Texas weather. I LOVE that first cold front. Almost always the first really really cold front falls right at Thanksgiving. That's when we get our tree. I hope September is cooler than last year...Bow season opens. Your goal weight is tiny. My daugher is 5'2 something and is around 107 and 112...a bone. Have you been tiny most of your life?
I went out to my garden, and found that something weird is going on with my cucumbers! They are all getting yellow, and rotting before they get big enough to pick! The few that were not yellow, were shaped more like ovals then cucumbers. I am not happy! I love cucumbers! I was SO looking forward to having a ton of them to snack on. sniff.
I said I was going to jump on the metal monster this morning for a WITH, and I did. No change. I was hoping it would be good news, but I guess no news is better than bad news. I am plugging along, behaving myself, but today has been hard. Seems I am starving all the time! I ate breakfast at about 9, lunch at 11:30, a second bit of lunch at 1:30, and a snack of a bowl of veggies and a bit of dip just now at 4:15! Another sign that my insulin levels are not good. Insulin triggers hunger pains when your blood sugar drops...even if it just drops a bit, and not to the point of being TOO low. I figure a few days of this, and it will eventually calm down.
My daughter and SIL are coming for dinner tonight. They want to discuss starting a catering business with me. Not sure if I want this, but I will go into it with an open mind. My SIL is good, very good. He will be successful I feel sure. I kind of feel like I am too old for this though!
GATOR: I found a couple more caterpillars on my dill plant! In fact, the little buggers have just about stripped it clean! I hope it survives! One is on the basil too. I hope they can avoid the blue tailed skinks, and wasps! I wish I had a butterfly cage to move them to!
ANGE: Its hard not to stress out when there is something wrong with your kid....even when they grow up! I worry about my 25 year old more now than I did when he was two, and I was controlling his environment! I agree...it is SO worth it! I really wanted six kids, but the doctor told me it is a miracle I had three! I so enjoy them! Even when they are driving me crazy! (which is often, and easy! haha!)
COUNTRY: Boy does reading about your ten year old and school work bring back memories! My son was a real hard case when it came to getting his school work done when I was homeschooling him. He unfortunately learned to manipulate mom very easily! He knew just what to say or do to distract me. Hope you can do better than I did on keeping yours on track! Thanks for the prayers...I am praying I can break through her wall of crabbiness, and be able to develop a relationship with her. That is why I am working this job...to be salt and light...
JACK: I SO agree! I worry about my three...and my SIL to boot! They will always be my babies...
TONI: I think I may use some duct tape to avoid munching on crumbs. I feel a good amount of determination, so I am hopeful of behaving myself. Besides, how can I get on here and say I failed? It would be TOO humiliating!
JECRITES: I am so sorry you had to deal with that worm. That is scarey that you got it inspite of a firewall and virus protection! I hope we don't get it. There is no telling with my teen going all over the internet doing who knows what! She loves downloading music, and chatting on AIM. I think my hubby, who is a computer programmer, has the firewall set up to be pretty strong. I hope it is effective!
Ok, gotta go! Tom just got home, and I am hoping we have to run out to pick up his truck! (the alternative-no car tomorrow- is just too painful a thought to entertain!)
1 handful of almonds
1 oz sweet potato chips
1 c. cottage cheese w/ a few green olives (yum)
1 low gi no bake choc cookie (yum - yum - yum - yum) recipe on board!!!
2 motz string cheese
iced chi (I use caff free chi tea w/ milk & divinci butter rum sf syrup - oh my-------HEAVEN) TASTES LIKE THE HOLIDAYS!!!!!
THATS ALL I CAN THINK OF RIGHT NOW.....
COUNTRY - WE LIVE IN THE CITY RIGHT NOW.... BUT HOUSE GOES ON THE MARKET ( just realized I was using all caps....sorry..) Monday... we are moving to our ranch in far North Tex - on Tx/Ok border - we are building a house!!! Reason for the long story... So excited..... because it is be cooler there.... We spent Christmas there last year... and actually had SNOW.................. Can't wait... ARE YOU A BOW HUNTER???? My DH is a huge bow hunter.... I am not strong enough.... I love to hunt though!!! Um, let's just say that I was small in HIGH SCHOOL... That was 15 yrs. ago... then progressivly got bigger and bigger......!
Monet--You don't really HAVE to have a butterfly cage. I used to use a big plastic bowl with a cover that I kept just a little ajar. I used 35 mm. film canisters, those plastic things the film comes in, and poked a hole in the top for the plant. All you have to do is put some of the dill in there and the cats will munch away. Then when they get pretty good sized, add a twiggy branch. They will crawl up it and pupate.
Maybe all the water is rotting your cukes. We've had a ton of rain down here. It is affecting everything. Even the flowers aren't blooming as much because of all the H2O. They are just coming up for air between rain storms.
Okay, shame on me! I went off my plan yesterday at lunch with pizza and choc chip cookies and today I'm depressed. I missed supper last night, too. I got busy when I got home and literally forgot about eating. That was a first for me. Anyway, I feel like I'm letting my new friends down as well as myself.
Deb, I love your tag line that when we cheat, we only cheat outselves. That's so true, because I'm feeling awful. One week was all I did without a slip up. I could blame it on some personal issues I'm having right now, but that would be a cop out. Issues will always be a part of life. I'm back on it now, but I sure hate it that I messed up.
GATOR: Thanks for the tip! I may try and get the biggest caterpillar and put him in a large container with some dill. (not that there is much left!) It would be wonderfully exciting to have it pupate for me to watch! Once it goes into the crysalis, how long does it take to come out a butterfly? I think my cukes have some sort of blight. Some of the vines are shriveling up. I am sure there are blights that effect cukes, just never had this problem before!
Just breezing thru....can't address everyone today......
BUT
Jackie.....if we are ever on a SB outing and have to spend the night, we'll have to share a room.....Our sleeping in the buff would probably scare the **** out of everyone there!!!!!
Have a wonderful evening everyone.....Can't wait for the finale of THE AMAZING RACE!!!!!
Ok - I'm officially back on....I haven't cheated in 4 days so now I can quit the counting - it's smooth sailing from now on! Still crazy with work - hope it ends soon!
Hello all-- We are home again. Had a wonderful time. It was just dh and I for the first day, then a couple of friends joined us. The weather was wonderful, and the fishing was great!! We are going back next Wednesday or Thursday. I am turning brown from all the sun. Walked the shoreline Tuesday, it is very hard in the sand to make good time, but it was worth it. And I felt good getting in some exercise.
I know that I told you all about my Mother's brother coming to visit her. That is why she didn't go to the lake with us. THEY STAYED LESS THAN 24 HOURS. I told her that I sure wouldn't change my plans next time. They got in Tuesday night, and left before we got back Wednesday night. I didn't even get to see them!!
Our garden is doing fantastic with all this heat we are having. We are enjoying Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Summer Squash, Cabbage, Onions, Carrots, Beets (I only ate a few the first dig and haven't eaten any since.) and dh has even dug up a hill of potatoes for him and Bill. Tonight is Summer Squash.
But the heat has not been good for anything else. The wild fires are getting out of hand. There was a small one just down the road from us while we were gone. Lightening started it. We have had Thunder and Lightening but no rain to speak of since June. Bill stayed here with the pups. Said he had just spent 8 months on a boat and didn't want to go this time.
Will try to get caught up on the posts, but won't promise anything.
Deb-- I did want to give condolences on the death of you DGM. My heart goes out to your DGF. 68 years is a lifetime. I hope that he will find the strength to go on with his life.
Your DGM sounds so much like mine, (My Mother actually called me crying on Mother's Day because her Mother had just said I love you to her for the first time EVER!! And she is 64 years old!!)
I'm winning some of my e-bay auctions. Yippeeee! I also went by a consignment store, spur of the moment today, and found 7 pairs of pants for my 5 year old (3 pair jeans, and 4 stretch pants). I paid about $17 for all of them. I'm in that bargain mode; ready to hit some garage sales now.
My daughter met her teacher today and she seems to be a nice lady who will not be too hard or too soft (just right). It seems as if a lot of the parents knew eachother from pre-school and were a little clickish. Oh well, we will see how it goes when the school year gets underway.
I was so starved when we got home, I ate almost an entire bag of a snack sized bag of popcorn. Oh well, it filled me up.
Gas is still a mess, so we will stay home tomorrow.
Jack: Gheeez, I hope both of your daughters feel better soon.
Toni48: I think I'll check for some Christmas ideas on E-bay; it's better than fighting the crowds. Do they sell toys on there too?
Country: We'll count you in for Weigh-in-Monday. I should have TOM by then, but will still weigh in with everyone else.
angehaley: When my 13-month old had whole milk, she would cry a lot and wake up at night screaming. Her stomach was hard as a rock, and she was having runny, mucousy foul smelling bowel movements (sorry for the detail). Once we took her off it, she was fine. It's strange because she can eat cheese, yogurt, etc...just not the whole milk. It is my 5-year old that see a GI specialist. She has something called Eosonophil Esophagitis. Her esophagus gets inflamed due to allergies of foods, pollens, etc. She has to use a Flovent inhaler, and swallow it -vs- inhaling it. I get a mocha mudslide coffeee mix from a company called lowcarb.com. They have a vanilla flavor as well. I like it because I don't use much; maybe one oz, with a little DaVinci syrup and 6-8 oz of milk and ice. I like it because it is flavored with Splenda. Aspartame is a personal choice. Some people feel it stalls their weight loss, but I don't think it's very safe to drink. I will have a diet soda from time to time, but don't like to consume it regularly.
Monet: Maybe the company that you bought your cucumbers from gave you the wrong seeds mixed in. My mom grows a round yellow cucumber that is pretty tasty.
Libra: Yesterday is gone; today is another day. Put it behind you and move on. You did it, now forget it! You only disappoint yourself; we're here for support, remember?
Fruit: Sail on!!!! You are on your way now! You're in for Weigh-in-Monday, right?
Teensy: Welcome back!! Your garden sounds divine. I wish I could be there to taste it all.
Well, looks like a light dinner night. Hubby is going to be late, and I don't feel like cooking. I'll probably have cereal or something. I'm such a bad mommy; feeding my children cereal for dinner, oh well....I'll get over it, and they'll love me for it (ha).
I had finally caught up with everyone's posts (there are some many now I think I have to take notes so I can actually respond to the right person about the right thing. I'm not complaining though, more people means more support as far as I'm concerned) and then had to go eat dinner (hubby was calling, he's such a great guy he even ccoks SB legal just for me ). So now I'm back to post, finally.
Today was another crazy day . I was in 3 of 5 bouroughs. I'm so sick of driving around like a mad woman. It looks like I'll have to do it one more day next week and then I'll have a repreive until internship starts on the 2nd. Then my driving all the time really starts. Now I think it just bothers me b/c they are so disorganized. I passed my physical, which basically means I don't have TB, all my antibodies are active, and I don't do drugs. Nice physical right. For all they know I'm a heart attack waiting to happen (God forbid). Anyway, I have to go back Monday to give them a money order ($75 ) so they can finger print me and do a baclground check. They said they didn't tell me about this before (so I could get it done today instead of having to go back) b/c "not everyone passes the drug test" and they don't want people to waste the money. Well all I can say is I would have liked the choice since I knew I would pass the drug test. GOSH!
Enough complaining. I should be grateful (as we were reminded last week) of the good things in our lives. After all I could be one of the poor souls who doesn't have an internship this year and has to go through the process of applying again (It was such a nightmare last year). So I'm going to (try) to focus on that from now on!!!!!!
On to Replies:
Jecrites: Sorry to hear you got the worm. Or one of them. My comp been a little slower the last week but I haven't gotten any weird e-mails, but a friend of mine did. I really don't get how these things work. I'm crossing my fingers for you (and the rest of us). Your point about my boys being sibs is a very good one. I'm an only child, so the idea that sibs fight is always a last thought for me. I always wanted a brother or sister. I guess when I have kids (hopefully more than one) I'll get used to all the fighting. I think they bte each other b/c like your one, they don't have front claws. They both paw at their water bowl before drinking. So much so that we got an electric one that flows with a wide base b/c they kept drinking out of the sink and knocking their bowl over. Their crazy ! But we love them .
Jack-K I hope that your DD's are feeling better soon. I think it's great though that you didn't eat offplan. I'm not a mom (yet, other than to my cats) but I know my mom can get really upset when things happen to me. So I think it's a real accomplishment that you made good food choices despite the chaos and worry.
Monet How do you do it? I'm dreading the holidays b/c everyone will expect me to bake (I usually have a chocolate chip cookie backing Marathon during NOV & DEC) and I don't think I can do it without eating them.
Debbie You were right you missed my insanity about my wedding pics (although with all the horrors I've heard about problems people have had, mine was nothing in comparison), but hopefully now things will be better. I hope that today was not too stressful for you. Funerals are hard enough but they can be even worse when everyone "seems" to be feeling things your not. Hopefully you were able to balance everything okay. I too wish I had been on the board before you can to NYC so we could have met. Maybe I could have helped make the experience more fun for you. Maybe the next time I'm in FL visiting my inlaws we could meet up, they like in Plantation just outside of Ft. Lauderdale. Although I have to admit, as much as you didn't like NYC is how I feel about the leat in FL. So we doen't go down there much. My inlaws usually come here, all the rest of their family is still in NY.
So, can someone tell me how to get/make SB pancakes? I keep hearing people refer to them, and I think I would like to try them.
ALso someone mentioned eating WW tortillas (sorry can't remember who), what brand are they? all the ones I find are made with enriched flour.
Finally, Popcorn? We can eat popcorn? I thought no corn products at all? Am I wrong?
Tomorrow, I have to work and then my best friend from college is coming to hangout for the night. We usually pig-out together, I hope I can keep myself under control. I'll just keep reminding myself that I really want this weight gone.
Sorry I have not had a chance to read the board tonight. Off tomorrow, so I will hopefully get to do that in the morning.
Some replies: Please forgive me if I missed anyone!
woodfrogs, WTG on losing 4.5 lbs!!
QUILTER/Kim, WTG on the 2 lbs. You’ll see that low before you know it!
daisey_73, Hey, 1 lb is 1 lb. Better than a gain. WTG!
Debelli, Your lunch at Out Back sounded so good it made me salivate! LOL I own a Rainbow & absolutely it! You’re right about the water looking gross, but that just shows me how well it works! Don’t know what I’d do without my Rainbow! Hey, did you cook! I’ve been hungry for some eggplant lasagne. I think I’ll pull out my recipe & do one this week end. One of the reasons that I’m not losing is that I have not been cooking much. I need to get back into the kitchen! You broke your toe??? OMG!! I must have missed that post. OUCH! Poor you.
Toni48, WTG on the weight loss! You can do it! So it sounds like you are not too far from Eureka Springs. I that area. We spent a whole week on Holiday Island a few years ago & did a lot of walking around in the unique downtown area. They have so many hidden nooks & crannies there that it’s a lot of fun to explore. And of course the Passion Play grounds are wonderful. I think it’s time to go back! LOL Thanks for posting that Riceless Spanish Rice recipe. Sounds good. I think I will give it a try. What size gab of slaw did you use??
tysgrammy WTG on the 8 lb loss. You’re doing great! What a GREAT START.
Country, At least you are maintaining in the same general range, but I know how disappointing it is to keep trying & not loose!
Libra925, 5 lbs WTG!!
Bashful Take the 1.5 lbs girl, you’ve earned them So glad to hear that some of the pics came out. I know that must be a big relief.
angehaley WTG. Keep up the great work. A cool 101 huh? Our heat index has been around 110 here. It’s hot & muggy. Thank God I work inside, although I do complain about being too cold at my work place, it doesn’t take but a minute or 2 outside to thaw out. LOL
BeachFan, A slow steady loss is better than none & this week that’s exactly what I have lost. None.
fruitloupe, 3.5 lbs is a great start! Keep it going!
Hello....for those of you who remember me I am the bus driver Mother of 3 who divorced my hubby of 24 yrs last June. That is about the time I fell out of sight. Well I am back. I have a new hubby who is wondeful to me and who is SBing with me. It is so much more fun to have someone to share with. We have been on track for almost two weeks now. He has lost 6 pounds. I have lost 5 pounds. I put on some capris today that a few weeks ago lacked about 1 1/2 inches meeting. Well they fit now. I am so happy. They were actually comfortable all day. Well I am off to bed I will try to write more next time. Just wanted to say Hello.
