Waiting to see what journeysend posts for the salad. I have few also. I hunted and had a hard time finding one that worked for us and was low in fat too. Nearly all of the recipes used a lot of mayo! Just a tip, you can substitute the cauliflower with chopped, boiled turnip or rutabaga once in awhile too!

This is one that uses a little less mayo and works in the hard boiled eggs too.

Cauliflower "Potato" Salad
1 medium head cauliflower (about 4 cups/1 quart florets)
2 hard-boiled eggs
1 medium stalk celery, minced (including leaves)
½ cup chopped green pepper (cooked to meet Ideal Protein standards)
2 green onions, chopped (green and white parts)
1/3 cup mayonnaise (Smart Balance Omega 3 mayo)
1 tablespoon prepared mustard (brown or yellow)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon onion powder
1-2 teaspoons worth sugar substitute
2 tablespoons sugar-free pickle relish (look for mount olives pickles or relish they are splenda sweetened )
Salt and pepper

1. Break or chop the cauliflower into smallish florets. If they are too big, they're difficult to cook so that they have the right "bite" and flavor - the outside tends to overcook.
2. Steam on the stove or microwave florets in a covered container with a small amount of water.
3. Drain and put into a medium bowl. Chop the egg and add. Toss with salt and pepper. Salt and pepper to taste.
4. Mix the ingredients for the dressing (mayo, lemon juice, spices, etc.). Taste for the balance of flavors you like. Mix the chopped vegetables and the dressing into the cauliflower and egg mixture. Add chopped fresh herbs if you wish - chives, dill, or parsley work well, but I've even used mint for something different. Garnish with the herb, or sprinkle with paprika. Chill.
Makes 8 servings.

FOUND AT :http://www.low-carbchef.com/Salads_Level_One.html

An alternate that I like but is much higher in fat is by Dana Carpender, in her book 500 low carb recipes.

DANA'S UNPOTATO SALAD
Small-medium fresh cauliflower, about 3 cups cut up
1 cup celery, chopped, about 4 stalks
1 cup red onion, chopped, about 4 ounces or one small-medium onion
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon granular Splenda, or to taste *
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 hard boiled eggs

Cut the cauliflower into bite-size pieces and place in a large casserole. Add 1 tablespoon water; cover and microwave on HIGH about 6-7 minutes, stirring after half the time. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes then drain and return the cauliflower to the casserole. I recommend chilling the cauliflower until it's at least lukewarm before adding the remaining ingredients. Stir in the celery and onions.
Unless the core is very woody, you can cube it and use it along with the rest of the florets

In a small bowl, mix all of the remaining ingredients except the eggs; pour over cauliflower and mix well. Peel and cut the eggs into large chunks. Gently stir into the salad so you don't break up the yolks too much. Chill well before serving.

Makes 8 servings

* I use liquid Splenda equal to about 5 teaspoons granular.

I finally made the turnip chips in the oven and they were really good! I peeled the turnips, and sliced them into thing rounds. Put them in a bag with garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper and onion salt and shook them up. Put them on a sprayed cookie sheet and baked in a convection oven for 15 mins turning them once.

One of the things I really like about IP is that I have tried and liked so many new vegtables. I love kale chips too. Who would have thought!

Deinekatze- Your necklace is beautiful. Just remember to have fun and don't let the stress and drama take that away from you. There will always be things that don't go well at a wedding. It is how you react that will make or break the wonderful day for you. You will be beautiful and have such good memories.

Kelly- I so know what you mean about crossing your legs! Also just bringing your knee up to paint your toes without that big tummy in the way! Oh, the simple things in life are wonderful.

Novak- You really look great! What motivation.

My last WI I lost .8# and I don't think I lost much this week. I go tonight and hope I am wrong. I really want to get into onderland by mid July when I see my family at a wedding.

Nettie Jeanne! You could be my sister! I started March 19th, I was 221.75, I too am 5'4" (almost anyway)! You'll love this diet. If you're true to IP, IP will be true to you! Hang in there. Come here anytime you feel weak or confused. This forum is a life saver!

Well, poop, jordanna! And I was having such a good time too! Actually, I just got the sheet from my regional rep saying all veggies were OK now. They must not have the info yet. Oh, well, at least now I'll watch myself. Thanks for the update.

Hi, TX. I get my vitamins from OurHealthCoop.com (1-800-667-0781). Multi-vites (no iron!), 60 tablets for $3.99. Calcium with Magnesium, boron, and D3 (liquid calcium), 300 mg., 100 softgels for $6.47. Fish oil (Omega-3) large bottle, 1000 mg, 180 softgels for $7.95. They also sell the IP brand of potassium (nothing else is comparable) for a few dollars more than you can buy it from IP, can't remember the exact price. Shipping and handling charges were just under $10 for 7 bottles of supplements. My coach was selling these vitamins instead of IP's vitamins, but charging IP's prices, so I just started buying them on my own.

I cook mine in the microwave. I buy the fresh stuff. Cut off the white roots and ends. No need to peel. Wash it. Cut it up into 1-inch pieces. Put it in a microwave-safe container with a lid. Cook 3-5 minutes or until soft without adding water. Stir midway through. Add a bit of vanilla, cinnamon, and splenda or stevia, and stir it up. Mmmm. Tastes like cherry pie filling.

I agree about the breakfasts on Phase 3: so much food, but so good. I actually overshot my target by 2 pounds, put on a pound an a half after two days on Phase 3, then lost it again. I really don't know where I'm going to end up, but anywhere in the neighborhood is okay. I have not started adding back other veggies... I didn't see that in the materials I printed out. What are you using for guidance?
Actually, I would try to put some pics on, but I am seriously computer challenged. Someone would have to help me big time.

My coach gave me the sheets for Phase 3 and Phase 4. At the very bottom of the pages, they said all veggies can be used now. But Jordanna said the new sheets said still no potatoes, corn, or peas. Maybe my area is still using the old way.

In phase 1, the best I can tell, we get about.... 48grams of fat on our highest fat days. That would be on the high side using 1 tbsp of omega or olive oil (14g per), and 3 of the ready made vanilla or chocolate drinks which are the highest fat items IP makes for phase 1 at 4g each. And adding 22g fat for salmon (we are only allowed after week3 and only 3x a week according to my coach. In general beef is 11g per 5oz, chicken is very roughly 9g per 5 oz, other nonfatty fish is 15 g per 7 oz, and shellfish/shrimp is 6 grams for 7oz).

Maybe someone can teach me how to quote, but in the mean while, Thanks Showgirlaz again.
This is my second day. I am hungrier than yesterday but excited the same. I am using my regular Costco bought vitamins and such until I go home and research the ones you mentioned. I want to add that I have not taken the oils not have I been able to drink all the water. Unflavored water just doesn't go down smoothly for me but I am trying. If I add SF sweeteners or use crystal light, I think I will be over the limit of what I am supposed to use as Stevia and such (what is the maximum number of packets allowed?)
Can we sometimes eat tuna in can? How about squeeze out the oil and still call it 1 tsp oil any way?

Wish I could go with the flow but +2 lbs this WI...
Only 1 week left of phase 1 then moving on to 1 week of phase 2, 2 weeks of phase 3 and then maintenance. My coach wanted me to move to phase 2 today as she believes my gain is stress related but I asked her to go with this final week to turn the page on the old me for once and for all. Sure hope to lose the 10 lbs left but guess I'll have to go with it...

Keep the good work everyone..

Hey everybody! I am back after a long hiatus from the boards!! Still on Ideal Protein, but life just has a way of getting in the way of me getting on here in one way or another!
Just curious if anyone has heard of the Bariatrix Nutrition Inc. They offer a similar product that is equivelant to IP. A local chiro is offering this in his clinic. Is cheaper, has less sugar count, less carbs, more protein etc etc.
Any thoughts or idea's?
*posting this on the alternate boards too!

you can definitely use tuna in a can, i would recommend packed in water though, the oil based tunas are not as healthy. add some boiled egg white, mustard, relish and low cal mayo(just a Tbsp or so) and you've got tuna salad! i make this pretty often and put it on top of mixed greens then sprinkle on some oil and vinegar dressing. YUM-O

Today I tried the 'ProtiDiet' Honey Nut Cereal found on Diet Direct ($10 for a box of 7). So much yummier than IP cereal! 100 calories/5 carbs/2 sugars/15g protein!

Love finding a new food to eat!

Also got the 'pretzel bows' - 120 cal/11 carbs/1 sugar/12g protein..saving those for a really rough day! Hope they're tasty!

Someone asked about Tilapia..r u cooking it in the broiler? It only takes a few minutes, because it's such a light fish. I spray some 'fake' butter on it, then add Magic Seasoning Blends-Seafood.

You all should be concerned for my sanity. I don't think I've ever dreamed of eating food before!
I fell asleep last week watching Iron Chef and it was on cheddar cheese. I ate that entire block of cheese in my sleep! lol

This is true. I can't tell you how many cigarettes I have smoked in my sleep. Funny thing is though I always get upset with myself in my sleep that I gave in. Then I wake up and it was all just a dream.

Anyone tried adding Starbucks Via added to cappucino? Wow - really good! My coach had BSkinny coffee - but I like the Via much better!

Default 10 days and dumber!

I've lost 8 lbs. in my first 10 days- however today I had to have a few more carbs. I was unable to really think at work - anyone had this happen? I felt terrible, even after a lunch with a big salad. It is good to be too perfect? If you can't function, what to do?

I use this sauce with veggies a lot:

¼ cup rice vinegar
1 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Wisk together and pour over steamed veggies.

It is very good- even my friends who are not dieting ask for the recipe when I make it for them
It is also good on fish.

Great Idea! I was trying to figure out a way to make stuff before I got to work so it will still be good by the afternoon. That will be perfect! I can stick it in the freezer at work and have it when I start to have my midday chocolate craving! Thanks!!!
