That blood work you had done.... was it a fasting glucose or had you eaten fairly close to when the blood was drawn?? Had you had any hard exercise about 3 hours before the blood was drawn?? Where were you in the process of starting this diet when that blood was drawn??
I STILL BELIEVE YOU NEED TO TALK TO YOUR DR! BUT, The answers to those questions are important.
When we eat we get a spike in blood glucose so, if you ate at the right interval before the test it could affect the result. Thus, the reason for a fast glucose for accuracy.
When we have intense exercise, their is a drop in glucose followed by a correlate increase in glucose that can account for a higher but allowable number.
Depending on where you were in the diet start process, if your body had just dumped all of it's glucose, and was kicking off the glycogen stores to glucose process you may have had more glucose than expected.
If it were me, I would talk to the DR and see if he/she was agreeable to re doing my glucose test and checking my blood ph again. It couldn't hurt, Much!
YES, I WAS FASTING FROM 11 PM TO WHEN THE BLOOD WAS DRAWN WHICH WAS AROUND 8:30 AM. NO EXCERCISE NO FOOD PRIOR. I WAS IN THE 4TH WEEK OF THE DIET. I have to point out again that the number was something around 94 or so. He has been my GP for over 10 years now and the appointment is for tomorrow at 2:30 so we'll see.

Sorry!
Actually, 94 is well within the normal range for fasting ( you can go up to 110) and I doubt a problem.
Just concerned... I will try not to be so much so, or so intense.

oh no, thanks for being concerned. I am too, I know that it is higher than normal for me though. I was reading somewhere that it could be because I am burning muscle and not fat? or that basically insulin isn't there so glucose that I do have is NOT getting transported and used, body is using ketones. Very fascinating.
what is interesting is that in his letter he seemed to be concerned about my level of potasium, so maybe I should take of them potasium pills every other day...I don't know
I can't wait for him to see me though, he'll be shocked as I have lost weight.

just went into the "goody closet" at work and picked out my packets for the week....and i realized how bored i am of every one of the packets(except blueberry pom drink and chocolate drink). everything else just bores me and i was wondering if y'all get like this too. maybe it's because i don't "like" food as much anymore so it's just not appealing right now but i do worry that boredom leads to failure.
SO, i think tonight we should discuss the different way YOU doctor up your packets to make them more interesting.
I need tips, thanks all!
P.S. pita, you better let me know how the appt goes tomorrow, i'm sure everything will be fine, but i AM a worrier
jordanna i'm the same way, terrified to see "the look" on a doctor's face when on the scale. only reason i've been in the last 5 years were for OB appts, other than that, I will NOT go to a doctor until i'm sure they'll be pleased with the number on the scale. first impression's everything right? and they ALWAYS weigh first :P
WI #5, down 3.2 lbs and 7 inches! Maybe I can lose 2 more by this weekend to make my mini-goal?.....we shall see
160's here I come for ya!
That is awesome!!! Keep up the great work! You still have a few days before the weekend so ya never know Be sure to fill us in if you do hit it.
I had my second weigh in today and I was down two lbs. My scale said I was down four. I did drink 24oz. of water a few hours before so I wonder if that had something to do with it. I think this was brought up in the last thread but I couldn't find it.......How much water do you drink before weighing in? Also when I first went in a few weeks ago the scale would not measure my body fat You had to be under 60%. I was 59% today so wooohooo I also started walking 2.5 miles and I feel great. I am so excited for my next weigh in. I can't believe I have had NO fast food, candy, or pop in two weeks. :
Has anyone tried using a waffle iron for the IP pancakes or crepes?
yes i use it all the time you just have to make sure you watch the temp they cook faster then normal waffles........and i have used a little less water then it states but it is great.....big, filling and with the syrup and waldens peanut butter it is a great breakfast

for some reason I am not bored yet cause I keep switching it up. Like last week I had a lot of ready made drinks and this week I got the yogurt thingy. The shaking motion has become redundant though, sometimes I wish music would play as I shake my drink in my shaker
yeab, sure thing re doc tomorrow.
we are getting upgraded to vista tonight....eeek... so heading home and praying to lovely universe that goes well.
hi guys! hope everyone is doing great. I'm keeping up on the reading, but not really much to report. Slow week, followed by long weekend... looking forward to that of course. My sweet boy graduates Friday night, so family is coming in, getting ready for that. Hang in there everyone.
Hey Jordanna, where abouts in Alberta are you? I'm in Red Deer!

Hi fellow Albertans! I am really close to you DiscoSuzy! I just live in Sylvan Lake
I have tried the Miracle noodles and just can't get over the texture. I tried to saute the extra water out of them. I guess I am too picky and would love to have regular old rice noodles!
So how do we count carbs, like is it net carbs (reg carbs less fiber)? I really need to get a handle on that to ensure I stay below 40 carbs.
How Do I Cook Tilapia & Chicken Breast (without Being So Dry)?
I Have The Slightest Idea. It Always Taste Weird And My Bf Leaves The Room Whenever I Make It. Please Help!!!!!
I cook my tilapia in a foil pouch just make sure you use the non stick foil. I brush the fish with a little olive oil and season it with salt and pepper and any other spice you like fold up the foil on all ends to make a little pouch and bake it. I bake mine at 400 for 10 to 12 minutes. It cooks in it's own jucies. Sometimes I even make a pouch big enough and I put cut up veggies like zucchini in with the fish and you have your entire meal done. You can do the same with the chicken breast only I would cook the chicken breast longer depending on its thickness 15 to 18 minutes. Hope this helps.
You may remember I had been diagnosed with PCOS(which I def have ) but they also had diagnosed me as severely insulin resistant and were sure I had type 2 diabetes. :Last week they sent me for blood work and glucose testing and today i got fabulous news. My glucose and insulin levels are right on point and no sign of diabetes..YAY. I am still slightly insulin resistant but my specialist was blown away by the results vs 11 weeks ago. I still have to see a PCOS dietician to learn how to eat after IP but Im so happy, relieved and proud of my results! She also couldnt believe that my blood pressure which I take every day has dropped from 154/85 to a constant 110/77.
They are still saying that because of my PCOS my FH and I will probably need fertility drug to conceive but she said as long as I lose the weight, stay as active as I am and as healthy as I am she said that when we try to conceive in Sept (after our wedding) I may have a good shot at suceeding (it helps that after 17 years of having little to no periods (i could 9 months without one) that I have had a regular one for 4 months straight which is great news (TMI I KNOW)
I just had to share...off to run my last 5km before my first ever race on Saturday...soooooo nervous! Have a great evening everyone
The place where I purchased IP uses the term "coach" quite loosely. In other words, I received no formal training- After they sealed the deal with the sale, I was given a bag of food, some pamphlets, and sent on my way. Not even measurements were taken. Also, they mentioned they were out of the vitamins but I would be fine. After reading many posts I see that the vitamins are essential and the lack of them could be causing the headaches and light-headed feeling I have been experiencing since starting on Monday. I currently take a multi in the AM and PM. I also had some Cal-Mag at home so I started that yesterday. What is the dosage of Potassium, and does anyone have an alternative supplement they use for the IP potassium? What about the optional supplements, any input on those?
Any info will be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!!!
Well I just got back from my WI #4 and I am down another 2.5 lbs and 4 inches!!! A full month now on IP and I've lost a total of 18.5 lbs and 15 inches, I'm amazed at the results I have gotten, but the last couple weeks haven't seen a big weight lost, so I'm alittle down even though I lost inches in all the right places I think going to try writing down everything I touch this week and see if that helps.
I have a few questions, I've been having some cramps in my legs, i asked my coach tonight about it, and she said it's possible I'm not getting enough salt, which might explain the slight headache I've had the past few days. I've also been taking extra CalMag as I've been a little constipated the past week or so. Anyone have any suggestions in regards to this???
Last week I told her about what I have been mixing with my shakes to change it up a bit and she was impressed, so she asked me if I did anything different this week, I told her I am hooked on Vanilla Pudding made as a shake with some almond extract & cinnamon - i was shocked when she told me that extract has ALCOHOL??? in it - I said I read the label and there is nothing in - so now I'm wondering i that has something to do w/ my headaches and not a larger weight loss??
I really appreciate any suggestions!!! I read the forum every day but don't get a chance to really post that often with my schedule these days...
Hello everyone and showgirlaz,
I am at the end of my third day of IP. So far, so good. I was less hungry today than yesterday. Stil, have a hard time pushing down the vegies but I am going shopping for some new kinds hoping to like them. Does anyone know what areas of body the coaches measure? If I am doing this on my own, how do I do it? When you say 3 inches down, do you add what you lost from bust, ... other area?
