Sophie how have you found drinking all the water? When I was semi following it I found all the water kinda overwhelming.. you don't actually need that much water and with the green tea it really clocks up to be a massive amount.. add the fact that there's loads of veggies so the food is high water content and it's beginning to look like a recipe for water intoxication (yup there is such as a thing as too much water).. I need to dig out my book again and check but do you know if in the later cycles it recommends cutting down the water content? Cos that much water for life I have to say I actually don't think is healthy.

Oh and fascinated to see how the mock french toast turns out!

Wink I have the book n did the diet :)

Hello here's a bit of info on the diet well @ least the first "cycle"
You start your morning with 8 oz of lemon water.( squeeze a lemon into 8oz of hot water)
You can have what they call clean veggies (let me know if you want the list of them) unlimited
Lean protein (unlimited) you know chicken breast no skin ,tuna in water salmon ect. No beef
You can have 2 servings of low sugar fruits a day ( before 2:00 pm since its a carb) ie. berries , grapefruit, apple, red grapes
And you are to have 2 probiotics a day - 6oz of low fat yogurt is a serving - yokult ect.
Limit your eggs to 2 a day
And exercise for 17 mins a day
Drink lots of water

PaintedButterfly - I actually don't drink ALL the 2L of water a day. I have a 650ml water bottle that I bring with me everywhere and I try to drink 3 bottles a day (which comes to 1950ml). I normally only drink 2 which I think is still better than before (none!). I also don't drink 3 teas a day. I try to do at least 2 but sometimes I don't even have 2/day. I'm not doing EXACT as in the book but I follow it as close as I can. I think that slowly is key. Start with what you can and add some if you can but don't FORCE yourself to drink all the water. Like you said, too much water isn't good either. Just keep a water bottle with you and drink when you want to. I also found that adding Mio (New water enhancer! LOVE IT) to my water really helps.

Mock French Toast was not good to my taste! LOL! I ate 3 bites and BLEH! left it there. Boyfriend added syrup to it and ate half but didn't finish. He said it was good but I think he was lying or he would've finished it.

Weighed in this morning for the fun of it and weighed 174.8. That's pretty good I guess. I keep comparing to the first time I did this. I was losing almost a pound a day. I have to just keep going! If I want to lose weight faster, I NEED to get off my butt and workout. Anything is better than nothing! (I have to keep telling myself that!)

Breakfast
Orange
Sm. DD

Snack
Green Apple

Lunch
Chicken Salad

Snack
Greek Yogurt

Dinner
Unsure?

Snack
Yogurt (need to get more!)

Ugh! I cheated last night. Boyfriend wanted ice cream so we went to the dairy and instead of having a small frozen yogurt, I had a small cookie dough flurry (O-M-G! It was delicious!). I felt bad afterwards though. Won't let that stop me though. Just have to keep going forward.

Breakfast
2 eggs (scramble)
1 orange
1 green tea

Snack
Small coffee (DD)
Apple
Yogurt

Lunch
Chicken Salad

Snack
Yogurt

Dinner
Chicken Breast with Veggies

Snack
Yogurt

I weighed in this morning and I stayed exactly the same as last Tuesday. I'm VERY happy since I thought I would've gained. I was expected to see 176 on the scale and to my surprise, it was 175.4! I have to stop cheating and do good so I can see a lost next week. I'm starting phase 2 on Friday. I'm going to be reading Burn The Fat Feed the Muscle so I'm hoping to start a workout program very soon.

Is there still someone following the 17DD? I been going on and off this diet for a while. It's the only diet where I don't feel like I'm dieting so I was planning on gettin gback on this. The only problem with me is I need someone to keep pushing me. Is there someone who'd like a job? Haha! We can push each other to keep going. Message me if interested

Default 17 day diet

Hi,

I just started the 17 day diet today. I have been on ideal protein in the past but found it too restrictive and expensive.
I need to lose at least 20 pounds so I should be on it for several rounds. Anyone else out there doing this?
I would love to find a support network to get me through!

Hey there eatingfromacan!
I don't think you'll have to do several rounds, I think you could achieve 20 lbs in one actually! You lose VERY quickly during the first phase.
I'll be starting cycle 1 day 1 tomorrow. I'm going to the grocery store to get what I need for the week. I'll be keeping a blog. I'll post a link tomorrow.

Cycle 1 Day 1

Starting Weight: 179.6 (Ouch!)
Goal Weight: 135

This morning went as planned. I had two eggs (scrambled) with an orange. I also had a cup of green tea. I'll be having a green apple with a cup of vanilla yogurt and I'm planning on having a chicken salad for lunch. Still not sure what I'm doing for dinner. I was thinking of doing a taco salad. Haven't had one in a while. Yummy!
I'll be weighing in every 17 days and every Sunday since I'm part of the Halloween challenge on here and that's the day we weigh in.

Reviving this thread a bit...
I've been thinking a lot about dieting and working out and came to the conclusion (I know I should've known this a long time ago) that dieting doesn't work for the long haul. I've tried MANY diets out there but only the 17DD I didn't feel deprived. I felt really good and it was REALLY easy for me. The thing that stopped me was the holidays. In my head, cheating on my diet was total sabatoge. I quit the diet and just gained a LOT of weight back. I'm currently feeling very down and depressed with low self-esteem. I'm ready for a new change. I'm going to be starting the 17DD again on Monday along with walking (either on treadmill or outside). The only thing I'm going to change this time is I'm going to allow myself a few cheats here and there. My goal is to follow the diet 80-90% and allow a few cheats here and there so that I can substain it for the long haul. I currently joined the group on Facebook so I'll be posting on both places. Anyone out there following this diet? I'm going to pull out my book and read it again this weekend.
