Morning all!

Did a new exercise this morning for the lower back that I liked alot and wanted to pass on. You lie on the floor, stomach down, as if you are going to do supermans. Fold your arms under your head as if you are going to rest on your arms. Then you lift from the waist up, raising the folded arms as well, so that you are working your lower back. Lower, then raise and lift again, this time tilting one elbow up so that there is a slight twist in the lower back. Tilt back to center. Lower again, then lift and tilt the other elbow up so that there is slight twist to the other side. It reallly works that lower back area, and a bit of the obliques. Quite effective. Hope I described it well enough.

Had a good chest/shoulders/biceps workout. Now it's time to get my act in gear. My weight still refuses to budge, but I am trying to ignore it and keep on plugging away.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Good morning ladies! Another quick hi before I have to get going! Yesterday was a great day! My family had alot of fun! We hit the bike trail and found this really cool cave that the kids loved. Then we came home showered went for lunch and hit the zoo. It was a blast and the weather was great! I did not do as bad as I though I would and I am hoping with the bike ride and three hours of walking at the zoo I did okay! It was so fun last night we played musical chairs at my daughters request and it was a blast! I have not had such a fun day in a long time! Today we are headed for the beach for some fun in the sun. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good Morning Ladies -

I'm down another pound to 142. 7 more to go!

Susan - I'm in awe of the way you exercise so much each day. I really need to get my rear and gear and start working out.

I tackled a big project ast night. I've had a storage building for several years with some junk in it from my last move. I got over half of it cleared out and sorted and today's trip should take care of what's left. I did a lot of carrying and toting last night and I could really feel it in my back. The nightbors muct have thought I was some kind of idiot, because I unloaded all the boxes right into my driveway and sorted everything out while sitting in a folding camping chair. I was out there for about 3-4 hours doing that and just kept bagging stuff up and carrying it out to the end of the drive for the trash man. I wound up with one large box and a couple of small ones actually filled with keepers that I put in the garage. I was hot, tired and incredibly dirty when I was done. It's a good time to do this since hubby is on a weird shift and wasn't there to keep pulling things back out of the trash. LOL.

Well girls I have awesome news to report...I am finally no longer to broke to have a gym membership. I officially unfroze my membership yesterday and I already hit the gym last night. I missed it so much. I get bored easy...I need options. So I did an awesome strength session last night and a little spinning. Eating came in under calories had about a 403 cal deficit. Should be sitting pretty for weigh in on Monday.

Not much going on today just gotta work. May be going out of town for dinner though I hope not. I always do so much better at home.

susan - thank you so much for that lower back exercise. Standing on the sidelines photographing football I tend to tense my whole body to keep still and by the half my lower back is always killing me. It is tough to find strength training moves for just that area. I need to work on getting stronger there.

tina - Glad you had so much fun, and so much ACTIVE fun which is even better.

Morgaine - YAY 7 lbs! That is exactly how much I have left as well. We can do it! Doesn't it feel good to declutter something that has been nagging at you for a while. Now that you are done with yours wanna come tackle mine?

Nothing much to report, other than had a great week eating and exercising-wise, and feel a sense of accomplishment. No weight loss, but I'm not going to let it sway me....as long as I'm feeling good about what I'm doing.

Got a lot of plates for my barbells last night through Freecycle...do you people have that where you live? it is the best way of recycling what you don't want, and picking up items you need. Just go to Freecycle.com and see if there's a location near you. it's country wide. Anyhow, got plates, a plate holder, and there's even a weight bench in fairly decent shape, which I am going to have to go back and pick up next week, since I couldn't fit it in my car.

Stephie, another good back exercise for the lower back is what I call the pointer...go down on your hands and knees, raise your right arm and left leg, extended them out straight and hold for the count of ten, then reverse leg and arm. Do for ten reps, twice a day, and you should notice relief from back pains within a short period of time. Be careful not to overextend your back...keep it level. It works the muscles in the small of the back.

Margaine, you are doing so well! Did you find the dress yet?

Tina, how did the birthday party for your DH go? Or was that a few days ago? I've lost track.

Angel, how are you doing?

Good Morning Ladies!

Susan - we have Freecycle here - I LOVE it!! We moved about a year ago, from a 5 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom house. I was able to get rid of a lot of stuff that was too big for me to cart down to Goodwill (bookcases, desks, etc). It's really cool - you just advertise what you have, wait for the responses and then pick out who you want to have it. I just set the stuff out in the driveway and gave directions to the person I was giving it to and when I came home from work, it was gone. Cool deal!

Yes, I got the dress last night after work. I'm so excited! It fit me beautifully and was a size smaller than I thought I could wear - woohoo!

I'm down another pound today - 141. Only 6 more pounds to goal!!

Good morning ladies! The beach was beautiful yesterday! The water was clear and not to wavy for the kids and it was not to cold! I am so tired today though! I think I need a day of catching up! Everyday this week we have gone and done something! We were supposed to go to the Rennaisance Faire tommorow but the weather is calling for rain all day! I think we are going to try and go on Sunday though! We have been looking forward to this for like a month! Not to sure what we are going to do here today as it is calling for rain here today also! I think I see a nap in my future! Well not much else to report! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Susan don't worry about that scale the way you feel and the way your cloths are fitting are the real deal. With all the exercising you do I bet your body looks great!

Steph I would love a gym mebership also! I just love being around people though and I think it would push me a little longer on the machines when I saw others doing them!

Morgaine great job on the weight loss this week! You are really close to your goal!

Angel hope you are doing good!

Have a wonderful day girls!

Tina, great picture! So nice to know what people look like! You should post up in the before and after sections. Hope the weather clears up for the Renaissance Fair.

Today was the day from **** at work...can't wait for it to be over. Just waiting for some presentations to print out. Didn't even have much time to eat. That's the one saving grace.

Morgaine, so glad you got the dress...I was wondering if you would be able to find it. Isn't the internet great!

Have a great weekend all!

Hi girls.....I've been lurking since coming off of holidays. I sure have been struggling, one big major carb fest after another. I really have to get my head straight and think about my goals and where I want to be with my weight and health. I went for a mammogram just before I went on holidays and received a message (via my machine) when we got back saying they found something and I had to have more intensive tests. Thankfully I had these done a few days ago and everything is fine but it really did a head number on me and my stress was off the charts!!! I really REALLY need to get focused!!!!

Hello ladies! I have to be out of the house tommorow morning with all the kids so I am checking in tonight as I am sure the morning is going to be nuts! My husband goes back to work tommorow and my son starts school back up Tuesday! I can't believe the summer is already coming to a end! I love the fall though so I am looking forward to it! I love all the different colors and the cool fresh air! I am sick of having my house closed up with the air on! We were able to go to the Rennaisance Faire on Saturday and we had a blast! The weather was perfect! I am beat though from this week and all the things we have been doing. Food and exercise were not good at all this weekend! I don't know what happened but I just wanted stuff that was not good. I am stocked with healthy things though and am already looking forward to my walk and weights tommorow. I went shopping on Friday and bought two size 8 pair of jeans. I never in my life thought I would fit into a size 8. I have to get my head on straight again though and be good this week. I am going to try and post a picture from the Rennaisance Faire. If you all have never been to one I would put it on your to do list. It is just so cool to see different eras. My mom watched my two youngest ones so it was nice to spend the day with my oldest and give him some attention. Wish me luck tommorow my daughter is seeing the dentist for the first time and I am praying she won't freak out. I hope you all had a great weekend.

Morning all! Thanks Tina, for sharing the pictures. As I said, it would really be inspirational for others if you shared your before and after pictures...you look wonderful. it looks like the fair was in a beautiful place.

Angel, that must have been a hellish few days! I just had my mammogram, and went through the same thing, tho' shorter duration, since they read the results while you are waiting. I had to have an ultrasound and another set of mammograms before they were satisfied that it was nothing. Since I had breast cancer 8 years ago, every year I go through the agony of hoping that its ok. I'm usually a basket case for the week leading up to the mammogram.

Went to the Arthritis Foundation exercise training workshop, and really enjoyed it. Made some good contacts too, who talked about the fun of teaching on cruise ships. Now that would be a pleasureable retirement!
I was excited, and set up some clients after the workshop by calling people I know who suffer from arthritis, as I need to teach 6 hours before I can be certified. I think it will be a good direction for me to go with my personal training, since all the baby boomers are reaching that point where they are starting to have aches and pains (like me!).

Well, looks like I have lost weight after all! I was fabulous this weekend, did my weights, cardio, ate perfectly, and yet my scale didn't budge. So when I went to work out this morning at the gym, I weighed myself on the big scale there, and I've lost two pounds, down from 160 to 158, and that's with clothes on. Yahoo! No more home scale checking, too discouraging.

How was everyone's weekend?

Good Morning Ladies.

Fairly uneventful weekend for me. I stayed on plan and went up a pound. Hmmm.

I also did some measurements and compared them to last time. I've lost quite a bit of inches - that's great. But some of the inches are the "girls" and I think I'm in a different bra size now. Harrumph!
