i got some motivation today.
its childish, but it will work for me for at least 6 months.
my doc made me go for a stress test last month, which went well. the guy who prepared me actually said "oh, you wont exercise that long."
OMG! why, because im old and fat? well, i was mad and managed to surpass the number they wanted me to strive for during the time on the treadmill.
i saw a cardiologist today and he has ordered another stress test in 6 months. it will be with the same guy who had low expectations of me!
im going to show HIM!
lol!
ive got 6 months to prepare.
Ah, thanks Troo and Fressca. You just made my day!
And I agree, the elliptical is a . If I'm not on that thing every week, it really kicks my butt to get back on it. I suppose any cardio equipment is like that, but maybe I notice it more with the elliptical because it's my least favorite so there are long periods where I don't use it.
I exercised today because I LOVE it. I love pushing myself to not only get in shape and lose weight, but do better than I did before. I love progressing, I love FEELING better. I exercise because I've had high blood pressure since I was 16 (which is pretty much normalized now) and asthma, and now I can walk upstairs without even breathing hard. I exercise so I can lift stuff at work and stay on my feet all day without feeling sore all night. And overall, I just love feeling this healthy, because I never have before.
You guys rock! I'm finding such great inspiration, and learning a lot on this thread. This week I tried to make myself double my exercise time from 30 to 60 minutes. Epic FAIL! Completely rebelled and did nothing, so I guess I'm not ready for that yet. I read little snippets from Thin for Life frequently, and it was talking about how almost everybody who loses and maintains exercises regularly, but a lot of them just do 30 minutes a day.
So today I'm exercising because I want to LOSE, and MAINTAIN my loss. And because 30 minutes is definitely better than nothing!

But then one day you are out walking with your friends and you suddenly realize they can't keep you with you anymore. Or you are at the gym and you realize you are doing something easily that killed you when you first started. Or you finally go for your annual check-up and all your tests come back way better than last time.
Thanks, that's a great encouragement, I will keep it up!

frankly, i am in secret competition with one of my friends. she told me she has joined a gym. my secret goal was to be one size, 5 lbs,...anything smaller than her. so now i have to kick up my working out to keep up the secret competition.
sound healthy?
katiecron - Competition is a healthy motivation, sure! I think keeping it secret is nice, since it's with a friend - more considerate.
Today I'm going to exercise because I really like the results I'm getting from my new program. It's only been 2 weeks since switching things up - but the results are already visible. Makes me look forward to it, get excited about it.
I exercised today - one hour spin class. My hair is soaking and I feel GREAT! I had to; I ate too many cabbage rolls at MIL's last night (and drank too many glasses of wine)!
