Pipsicle That is what my weight did too was... it stabilized for quite some time before it finally started coming down again. I am at that spot again waiting for it to adjust and start moving downward again.

Well I did the 8 hr window again today but I don't think it is going to work for me. I think I did better with the 2MAD even though I was drinking carbs in my coffee so I think I better go back to it. I eat way too many calories because I want to eat more and too much when I do an 8 hr window. So I will definitely going back to the original plan ASAP. The only good thing about todays eating is that I did stay within the 8 hrs.

Carol Sue I love having the new freezer and having it in the house. Baby sister still hasn't picked up the old freezer as she still doesn't have a house, but it isn't in the way so no problem. I do hope they are able to find a house soon because I know they want to get settled in their own place even if it is a rental for now.

Early morning for me again. I think my lack of fasting is causing this. Trish, I have heard others say eat some carb at night to help you sleep but I have always been the opposite. A big carb meal DOES make me drowsy but I then wake up early and can't fall back to sleep. During sleep your body should rest and repair. It can't do that if its busy digesting food. Going to bed on an empty stomach has always worked best for me. One size does not fit all.. I am also up 2 lbs to 191. I am not even upset because I know I deserve it and am surprised it isn't more. I am upset that I'm not getting enough protein. This house is carb heaven right now. I need to change that. We are not eating out enough because that's when we can each eat what we want.

I also overeat if I do more than 2MAD. I need a 4 hour or less eating window or I end up picking at food all day. That has been my recent problem. I'm not getting what my body needs so I keep eating trying to satisfy my body and its not working. So 4 hours, and the food of my choice. I cannot live on the crap my DH eats. I don't know how he and his brother do that. I feel terrible. I'm going to Wal-Mart this morning and I'm going to buy some cottage cheese and yogurt. I will add whey protein to the yogurt. These are the things my friend eats because she does not cook. She's not much of a meat eater but this is how she gets protein. I'd prefer meat but that has to be frozen, then defrosted to cook it. I prefer hot or warm food but I need to have protein on hand besides eggs.

Pipsicle, I'm glad to hear things are leveling out for you. It seems you have figured out what was going on. Good for you!

Carol Sue I don't like eating a heavy carby meal before bed either. I sleep better on an empty stomach besides I think that that the body is doing a lot of healthy healing when it doesn't have to be busy digesting food when I am sleeping. I need to find a more balanced carb place for me.

I remember BS said she had to do an egg fast to break her plateau but I don't want to do that because I love eggs, but if I had to do eggs around the clock I would hate them and I don't want to do that. So I have decided that I will do a liquid fast using the Premiere protein shakes twice a day and eat only OMAD for a while doing it like some CAD people do. I've seen CAD people on FB say that isn't CAD but there were those of us who did it because it worked for us. To be honest OP IF, I will 0 liquid fast for 16 hrs and use one shake to start the 8 eating window and one to end the eating window with one meal in the middle about 4 hrs into it.

I really don't plan to worry about the balance of macros but will take them if and when I can. I just want to get a eating routine that works for me that I can live with long term. 16 l fast will give the fasting benefits I want without having to think about food all the time. I figure with summertime coming up soon that this is a good time to do this since I don't want to be cooking all day.

Scale was back down to 183 today. FBG was back down too but not below 100. It was 115 yesterday and weight was 184 then too. Evidently the protein shake I had last night was helpful. Thank God.

Trish, I've done egg fasts in the past. I had no problem because I love eggs so much. I lost a lot of weight. I could do it now but can't because of DH. I did it right before my mother passed away and everyone thought I lost all the weight because of her passing but it was before.

I wanted to clean today but DH wanted me to go with him to get a new weed wacker. I told him the one he wanted wasn't sold in stores but he didn't believe me, so after we went to 4 stores we came home and ordered it online. While we were out I looked at washing machines. There were 2 that I liked. DH told me to get the one I like and not worry that it was $70 more. It ended up everyone was out of both of them until months from now. When I came home I looked online and found a store that says they will deliver it Sunday. I was lucky. It has a bigger tub and I'm hoping I can wash my bedspread in it. I always have to take it to the laundromat. So I guess it was a good day but we spent some more of Mr Biden's money!


I tracked my food today and I only had 57 GM of protein. That's not enough. I would have to eat more food to get any more and I'm not hungry so I won't force it. I had 2 eggs and 1 chicken breast.

Carol Sue Glad you found the washing machine that you want.

I have not done very well for a few days with my eating so I'm going to have to do something different. I honestly believe that I need to forget about trying to balance macros etc. This just isn't working for me because it is just making me want to eat all the time. So it is time for me to stop. I think I will just go back to eating mindfully and if I am hungry eat and if I am not hungry I don't eat. At this time, I think that is the only thing I can do and try to do just 2MAD period. The one thing that I can say that I am doing right is the 16 hr fasts which I am on even right now. My goal is to do a 20 hr fast and only eat 1 meal tomorrow.

Yesterday I felt fat and the scale said 191. I got up this AM feeling light as a feather and am back to 189. So its fluctuations and nothing more. I was around 1200 calories yesterday but I don't really track them anymore. I just did it to see my protein. I don't care how many calories I eat as long as I don't feel stuffed. We ate at Bob Evans yesterday and I couldn't finish my meal. That's a first. I left mashed potatoes! Another first! I brought home a piece of chicken and carrots to eat today. I usually force myself to clean my plate then am sorry later. My window was 8 hours also because I've been eating breakfast. I have to continue eating it to get the protein, but I will work toward eating them later, closer to noon. I have to decide whether to continue with the 45 calorie bread or go back to the Keto Zero Carb. I don't think its making a difference either way.

I understand how the macros are messing you up. The only way I could hit my macros is to eat the same thing every day. To me, the important numbers are the one on the scale, the one on my meter and the one on my blood pressure cuff. A normal eater doesn't even know what a macro is. I only want to increase my protein because I've lost muscle mass. Some days my only protein is the eggs. I don't want to overeat protein but I want enough. If I lived alone I know I would eat more protein.

We got the basement back to normal but I have to go through some boxes. If I haven't looked in these boxes for a few years the contents can't be anything important. DH says its clothes, but if it is, they are going to Goodwill. They must be from the 70s. LOL. I think some are curtains I will never use. Out they go!

Hi all, still just under 160. Fasted yesterday because I did not do it on Sunday. Apparently, going for a Sunday drive in beautiful weather is a trigger, and I insisted on stopping for ice cream. I can't blame DH for that at all, it was all me. I did enjoy the little treat. We did walk a bit too. Yesterday I had pretty normal energy and a good sleep.
I will walk the dog in a bit. First time I feel like I can do the morning walk since the vaccine. DH is regaining his energy too since his surgery. He is eating better as well.
I am planning to grill something to go with a nice greek salad tonight. yum

Mad So glad you are feeling good enough to walk Buddy and the vaccine after effects are wearing off. Glad you DH is feeling better. We do have to learn those triggers. I’ve got some I need to ditch myself.

Carol Sue Glad you got your laundry room back to normal. We have so many boxes we need to go through too. I wish DH would get rid of some things.

I agree with you about normal people and macros. I never payed attention to them until now and I actually did not have as many problems with my plan when I didn’t. I am going to forget about them.

Thank God my weight is only up 1.6 lb with the overeating I’ve been doing. I think the 8 hr fasts are what saved my tail.

I’ve been thinking about the orginal CAD and the OMAD way of eating. I remember when the Hellers’ came out with the original plan and Rachel’s story about how she stumbled into weight loss and she ate only OMAD. I was so excited to read that because back then I could go all day and eat only once a day and we had been told we had to eat 3 meals plus snacks by most diets. But here was a doctor who had not done that and her DH had medical proof it was not dangerous. Somewhere through the years I have fallen back into that old way of thinking again.

But reading these books on fasting, I am reading all the benefits of fasting. Therefore, I have decided to go back to the OMAD at least most days and remembering what Dr. Fung says about not doing OMAD all the time, then I will do 2MAD on days I don’t do OMAD. I am not going to gain the weight back that I have lost. I have always prayed that I could lose this weight and do it healthy and there is no better way to do it than with the fasting. I have the way so I just need to get myself busy and do it.

Today is OMAD with cod fish and veggies.

Trish, you are definately doing this in a healthy way. I am trying, but not doing as well as you are, but I will keep at it. You might not really be up 1.6. It could be fluctuation like my 2 lbs were.

Today I'm cleaning. I have so much to do. DH did a load of laundry for me. It's jeans, and I trust him to do them. LOL Yesterday we stopped at the Gyro truck and it was closed. I looked online and saw no reason why he was closed unless it's closed on Mondays. I'd like to get one today but DH is lying down and I don't want to bother him. We have Arby's coupons. I could eat that. I'll just see what he thinks when he gets up. I'm not cooking, I know that!

I ended with a 6 hr eating window today but I ate 2 meals and a snack and lots of calories. I am actually so very bored with cooking right now. I absolutely have got to get my act together again.

I am down .6 to 188.8. I sure don't know how that happened! Well, I do know. I woke up remembering I dreamed I was exercising. LOL. DH said he dreamed he was washing clothes. That's because I had him wash jeans yesterday.

I didn't feel well after dinner and slept from 6 to 9. Then I went back to bed and slept from 11pm to 6 am. So I feel rested and that probably helped weight go down. When I was eating yesterday I got full but that gyro meat tasted so good I forced it. I think eating too much made me not feel well. The scourge of a compulsive over eater.

I was reading about sarcopenia, the loss of muscle mass in the elderly. I don't know if my muscle loss is that bad yet but it said to eat 30gm of protein at each meal and not to eat it all at one meal because your body will not be able to use it all at once and any extra will be stored as fat. I never knew that. That is why my visiting nurses told me to eat some protein at every meal. I don't know if I will go back to 3 meals but they would have to be very small meals. The fasting keeps me from snacking but I have to find a way to up my protein. Maybe I will just have a protein snack. I do know I have to eat less at dinner because I have felt bad several times after eating dinner. When I did the egg fast I ate eggs 3 times a day and lost well. Egg fast wasn't heard of back then but I liked eggs and I could afford then because they are so cheap. Back then I sometimes fasted Sat and Sun. The games we play to keep the scale happy.

I am not into cooking either, Trish. I've run out of ideas because DH doesn't like anything. He would rather go to the casino and eat a hot dog than have me cook a meal. I can't plan a nice meal because he doesn't want to wait for food to cook. He doesn't want to eat meat that's been in the freezer. I'm not going to the store every day for meat.

Carol Sue I understand how you feel about not wanting to go back to eating 3 meals a day. I don’t want to go back to that either but at the same time I don’t want to lose any more muscle than necessary for my age.

The only way I think I could get the protein is with the Protein shakes but I didn’t do very well with that the other day. I think today I will try doing like I learned to do on WW and add one protein shake to my coffee throughout the day and then have my protein at brunch and dinner. I am having 2 eggs with a slice of bacon and 1 sl SLMG toast. I like that and I think I need to have it rather than deprive myself of it at least for now. Not sure what we are eating today. I would love to have tacos from Taco Bell and by rights it is my turn to choose but who knows. DH told me at 1 am this morning that we needed to go to Sam’s and get tomatoes and his fruit and I was too tired to ask where we are getting takeout from. I really don’t want KFC but you know how that is. We will get whatever he wants.

My weight stayed at 184.6 which is a blessing that it didn’t go up but maybe that just confirms that I am in a stall period and my body is adjusting to what I’ve lost and hopefully that is a good thing. Makes me think of my niece who comes to visit with the little boys. She stays OP for few weeks and goes off plan for a couple of weeks and then goes back OP for a few weeks. I think baby sister said she has lost 100 lbs doing that. Of course, she is in her 30s and I had no problem losing when I was in my 30s. My problem was keeping it off because DH#2 would eat almost anything and he would try anything at least once. DH#1 was the same way. Quite different from DH I have now who is sooooo picky. LOL

I am really thinking WW Simply Filling plan again because of the fruit and veggies but don’t know how to get around the FF cheeses etc. The problem I have with keto is that I can’t stand eating all that cheese and fat because I think the cheese makes my allergies act up. So right now the best thing I need to do is work on having the protein to feed my muscles and enough fat to feed the brain and do this with IF. IF seems to be saving me from gaining during this stall. So will keep that going regardless.

Trish, you can do low carb without doing high fat. That is Dr Naiman's plan in the PE diet. If you do Simply Filling you do not have to use FF cheese. High fat has never worked for you or for me for that matter. I eat whatever fat comes with my food. It is not high fat or low fat. You have to learn to be more flexible. You do not have to follow a plan exactly. Maybe I shouldn't say that. Maybe not following exactly is why I'm not losing, but I AM losing, just very very slowly. There is no weight loss plan that I can follow exactly. I just want to be a normal eater. I want to eat what I want but only when I'm hungry and not stuff myself. I want the food that I eat to be nutritious. Knowing when to stop is my problem.

I want to start making my whey protein shakes again. I don't know if its still any good. I keep remembering when my SIL told step daughter that protein shakes a are for gaining weight, but he is thinking of bodybuilders who use them to build muscle and burn fat, which is what I want to do, too. I am not a bodybuilder but I do want to increase muscle. Muscle helps burn fat. Dr Naiman says "everyone is a bodybuilder but what kind of body are you building?""

Carol Sue You are right. I do know I want to eat enough protein and lower my carbs. Those are the 2 goals that I care most about. I didn't leave MFP. I decided to go over there and set my carbs at 75 g and my protein grams around 100. Of course, you can't be exact on MFP so I just set it at the one it allowed me at 113. The rest is fat which I don't add most of the time either.

I am going to use the Premiere shakes to make the amount of protein I want. I have my plan set for tacos today as I will remind DH that we had his KFC 2 weeks ago and his McDs the last time we went out so it is my turn for tacos. I usually get 3 tacos but am going to only buy 2 this time. If I don't buy it I can't eat more than I need.

Now that you can delete items on food list on MFP, I cleaned out the foods I don't eat or shouldn't eat. I'm not following any particular plan except my own. I think to order Dr. Naiman's book. I don't like the way it is on kindle and I could use an actual book so I can look things easier. I notice someone on his thread on the low carb site complained about the same thing about his ebook and ordered the actual book. He is the one who also allows 100 net grams, but I think I would do better at 75 grams so that the net would be between 50 & 60. Today if I can talk DH into the tacos, my net carbs will be 60 g.

Carol Sue We both know what works best for us so we just have to do it and I'm sure we will. We have come a long way. I looked at the reports I keep daily from January last year and I was just fighting to keep from going above 210 trying to get below 200. Now I am stuck at 183 and 184. I read recently that instead at looking at what we haven't done, we should look at what you have done. They said that is the difference in whether we succeed or give up. I don't want to ever give up.

Edited: Forget buying that book. It is now $80. Not paying $80 for any diet book.
