Carol Sue DH will share meals with me sometime. When we get fried chicken tenders or Long John Silver's fish, we always get one meal and half it. It is funny how 2 chicken tenders is enough and half a small order of cole slaw goes a long way when we do that. I like the LJS fried shrimp so we usually get 3 pcs fish and 3 shrimp and I eat 1 pc fish and 2 or 3 shrimp. I don't like any of the sides they have because they always look like they have been there for days.

fatmad What good fat bar do you get? I have heard there are some but I'm never sure which one to trust. I never thought about sugar being in the pepperoni. I never used to like it but I do like placing a cheese cube or pinch of grated cheese on top of each one and microwaving to satisfy the desire for a chip. I guess I will just stick with the microwaved cheese instead. It is good and I like those with my salad as a cracker substitute.

I don't think I will be making very much low carb dishes with the nut flour. We never like the texture however, I did find a pizza dough that is made with mostly cream cheese and only a few Tablespoons of almond flour. It might be okay. Not sure I will ever try it. I know grains are not keto but I can use some grain on LCHF so I might use some of it since I don't use it often. I think I just need to find something other than nut flour. We are actually getting used to eating a lot of things cooked pan fried or grilled on my stove top grill pan.

I came got my Inulin so I can make my yogurt when the probiotic tabs come in. I had planned to make the yogurt Sunday but DS reminded me this morning that we are going to the air show out where BIL works unless we get rained out. BIL got the tickets at work and they are having the air show Sat and Sun but we are supposed to have thunderstorms all day tomorrow. Sunday was supposed to be a beautiful day but I just saw on the weather report that we are to have thunderstorms both Sat and Sun. So not sure how that will turn out.

I was hungry for pork chops. I've started buying meat with no hormones or antibiotics. I don't know what that means because it does not say grass fed, but it is healthier. I couldn't find a lot of organic veggies today. I wanted to get organic cabbage. I haven't had cabbage in a long time and wanted to try boiling some because DH will eat it. I am hoping I might be able to eat a small amount of it at a time.

Drinking my 1st MCT coffee tonight hoping that will keep me from eating anything tonight. I can only use 1 tsp today and tomorrow and then I will go to 2 tsp and by Tuesday I will work up to 1 Tbls each day. I couldn't find 2 lit bottles of seltzer water. I am not sure any one even carries it here as I can only find the 1.5 lit so I guess I will try making half the amount of Milk of Magnesium to make our magnesium water. I don't plan to drink as much of it as Dr. Davis says any way. That is one that I will definitely start of slow.

fatmad I hope you are able to rest now and getting over the jet lag. I know you don't want to be eating carby foods for too long.

Carol Sue I'm glad your pain has been less and hope it goes away. I don't seem to have a desire for much meat any more either. I'm not sure what that is. In fact, I really don't want much of any food so maybe the way I'm eating is working after all.

Y'all have a good evening and I'll catch y'all tomorrow.

Thanks Trish, I slept better last night, and I am off call for the night, will head to bed soon. I was able to stay up to a normal time at least. I have taken a 1/2 benedryl to help me sleep so hope that will do the trick. I had wings for supper before going to my concert. DH didn't feel quite well enough to come, so a neighbour came and she and I had a nice girls night out. The music was great and she is hooked on the live folk music thing. She is a mum to young ones so a night out was great for her too. We never get much time out for that kind of fun when the kids are little and I'm glad to give her the treat.

The bars I buy are actually called "good fat" and I buy them in the natural food section of the store, or at "goodness me" or "whole foods" etc. By themselves they are expensive (about $3 each here) but costco had them at $20 for 12, so I bought that box. It had two kinds I know I like, I didn't like the one with coconut. But buying singly you can figure out which you like. They are nice to have in a purse just in case. Not very sweet like a granola bar at all. And quite satisfying.

Carol: funny how DH doesn't want to split a meal, I wonder if it is hard to realize that we eat less as we get older. I am also really eating less with this WOE, even on non-fasting days, I just can't and don't want to eat as much as I used to eat normally. With the higher fat, I get lots of calories, and am satisfied, but I think overall I have fewer calories anyhow, and certainly less food.

Well, getting sleepy here. Have a good sleep friends.

I wasn't going to write again but I drank the BPC with the teaspoon of MCI oil and I'm excited that it worked great tonight. I'm not sure your supposed to use the coconut oil with the MCT oil but since I'm using 1/3 serving of it right now, I decided to just add it to the coconut BPC until I get up to the full serving. I got an email from the company that said do 1 tsp for 2 days and work up to see how it affects stomach. So I figure by Wednesday that I should be up to the full Tablespoon. I think I will use it 2x a day so I might be able to eat only OMAD.

Thanks fatmad, I will look for fat bar the next time I go to the store.

DH never finishes a meal but he thinks splitting a meal makes us look cheap. He would rather order 2 full meals and leave what we don't eat. He will not eat it if we bring it home. He is strange. He used to make fun of our neighbors because they would split a sandwich and each get a cup of soup. Restaurants like people like DH.

By the way. The arch pain is gone but now it hurts on the outside edge of the same foot. Geez!

Carol Sue It is funny how men think about things sometimes. I guess they think it is logical, but sometimes it is confusing to me. LOL

My FBG was 138 and weight back down to 213.4. So the problems caused from the almond pizza dough and pepperoni cheese chips seem to be over. Weight still up .4 from before but it is close enough that I will accept it.

I have a set of measuring spoons that has a 1/2 Tbls among them so I decided to have 1/2 Tbls of MCT oil in my breakfast BPC and it worked like a charm. While I still used some coconut oil, I only used enough for the flavor which I like. Although I felt my bg going down around 3 pm, I was not really hungry. So I'm well pleased with that.

I cooked the salmon fillets that I recently bought at the local store. I was not impressed with the taste. I think it was a little old and wanted to throw it away but didn't. I grilled them and we ate most of it. I'm thinking that the problem is that it probably was farm raised. I found a package of frozen salmon that is wild caught so I will only use those from now on. My plan is to have another BPC with MCT oil around 7ish so I will have a OMAD today. Although some call the BPC drink still fasting, I read where some doctors say it is okay to use it in place of a meal so I am not calling this a really long fast. As far as I am concerned my fast is more of a 16 to 18 hr fast depending on when I have my first BPC. My first one was about 11ish this morning so my eating window will be One meal and 2 MPC within 8 hrs. As long as it works that is all I care about.

We had rain most of the day and according to the weather channel, we are supposed to have rain again tomorrow so I'm not sure if they will have the air show or not. So tomorrow is iffy.

I hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

We ended up at the casino and lost again. When we were leaving DH once again said we won't go for a while and he's tired of the long drive . But then the next week he forgets about that and wants to go again. I told him he is a liar but he said he isn't because he means it when he says it but then changes his minds. Lol. Soundsike a liar to me!

weight back to 150 this am, it was up yesterday, ate some chocolate (ok a lot of chocolate) on Friday night.
I am on the day shift, but work is busy this weekend. I am going out to do some visits soon. Friends will come for afternoon tea.
I find baking these keto cookies/muffins with almond flour is pretty good. I will send the recipe to you Trish if you like to use up the almond flour.
DH bought fish yesterday at the market, so that is supper tonight. will wait for our friends before I eat today tho.
Carol: did you have the buffet or not bother this time at the casino? I don't know what else there is for you if you don't have that, but you were disappointed the last couple of times.
It got warmer here yesterday, but I was too tired from another short sleep to go out an enjoy it much. Maybe today.

Mad I had the buffet and it was great. We have been going on Thursday. The buffet is cheaper but the selection not as good. Also not as busy so the turnover is not as fast and the food sits and is not as fresh. Some things they had that I like are ribs, peel and eat shrimp, grilled button mushrooms, baked fish and prime rib at the carving station. These selections are not there during the week. On Saturday it is crowded and they are constantly bringing out fresh pans of food. I definitely over ate. Even the food court was crowded. I sometimes sit over there and read. No empty tables. But the machines were not paying out. At least not the ones I played.

In have a turkey stuffed and in the oven. Its an extra I bought when they were on sale over Thanksgiving. It brings to memory DH's fall on the ice that was a couple days later. Not a good memory.

fatmad Yes, I would love to have the recipes especially the cookie ones. I know DH misses his sweets and the cheesecake muffin I made wasn't all that good.

Carol Sue Sorry for the loss at the casino, but the food sounds good so even though you over ate, you were able to stay OP. The turkey sounds good.

Pipsicle Looking forward to hearing from you. Sometimes we write at the same time so I'm going to throw out a at you.

FBG was 137 and weight was back down to 211.4. I am hoping to get under 210 sometime this next week. We will have breakfast of eggs and bacon for lunch today. I had the BPC with MCT oil today and will have another one this evening. However, the suppressed appetite only lasted for 4 hours and then I was starving last night and ate a slice of cheese and some ham slices because I stay up so late. So I broke my long fast last night. I might have ended up with only a 12 or 13 hr fast. Maybe when I get up to the whole serving of MCT oil that will get better. I'm only up to the 1 Tbls right now I won't raise it until Tuesday because I want to be able to stay home all day when I raise it to 2 Tbls because we will go see Daddy and go to Sam's club tomorrow. I don't have to go any where this next 2 weeks except go see Daddy on Mondays so I want to take this next 2 weeks to work on getting my plan more strictly.

We aren't going to be able to go to the airshow. They are having the exhibits but there won't be any flying plans since the weather is calling for 100% rain and it is foggy out.

I will try my hand at making Dr. Davis' anti-aging yogurt this afternoon. I'm going to see if I can find a YouTube example of making yogurt. He says after you make the 1st batch to save a little back to make the next, etc. I'm not sure exactly how to do that, but I will figure it out. He says the first batch could look like cottage cheese, but all the batches made from that batch will be smoother. It is making it in the oven that is making me nervous and make me wonder if I should buy a yogurt maker. I'll try making it in the oven according to the instructions and if I don't like the way it works, I will look and see what I can find at Walmart before I make the next batch. I am making my credit card off limits until next month.

This is one time I'm so glad DH doesn't throw things away. I was wondering what I was going to make the yogurt in since it has to be made in a glass type pan. I found a couple of those brown glass sauce pans that was so popular years ago that will be great for making this in.

This is Sunday so we will have breakfast for lunch today. It makes my Sunday a little easier.

Y'all have a great day.

Trish: you can also make the yogurt higher fat by using half and half for some of it, instead of just milk.
I will post recipes later. Do you have silicone cupcake liners instead of paper? for some things, the paper doesn't work very well.

Carol: I'm glad the buffet felt worth it at least. You have had enough protein to last a while now.
have a good day friends, DH and I are going for a walk in the warmer weather, there is even a little sun.

The doctor's instructions are confusing so I went on line to YouTube and learned how to make the yogurt in my crockpot. A lot of people use commercial yogurt for their starter. I did find someone using a probiotic powder so I'm kind of using both ideas using my crockpot. Right now I'm waiting to get my organic whole fat 1/2 & 1/2 to 180 degrees. I didn't understand that when I started or I would have done it different. Some people heat it on the stove or in microwave to get it to that point before placing in the crockpot and some people put the milk in the crockpot and turn it to high until milk gets to 180 degrees. I had it on low but upped it to high as it is just going too long. Then I have to turn off/unplug the crockpot and wait for the milk to come back down to at least 110 degrees and mix the probiotic mixture and then add it to the rest of the milk. Then you put the lid back on and wrap the crockpot with a towel to keep it at 100 degrees for 8 hrs or overnight depending on the thickness you want. Supposedly it will be yogurt within 8 hrs. At the rate of time it is taking me to get the milk to 180 degrees, it will take all night for it to make into yogurt. Once I get it to 180 then I have to work at getting it back down to 110. I don't think it will be this big a job next time because I will know what I'm doing by then.

fatmad Yes I did make it with whole organic 1/2 & 1/2 however, I just might use whole organic millk next time. No I don't have the silicone pans. I think I bought them at one time and I may have let DH daughter have them when they moved because I haven't seen them since I moved here. I have been looking for them here but haven't seen them. I will have to look on Amazon and order them next month.

Trish, I have made yogurt in the crockpot. I just used a little bit of commercial yogurt as my starter and it worked fine. It turned out too thin for me so I never made it again. Then I bought a yogurt maker and I didn't like the way it turned out in that. I also bought a cheese strainer to strain it and get it thicker. Finally I figured it was too much work for just me and now I buy commercial whole milk plain greek yogurt. It is really thick and that's the way I like it.

Good for you on getting back down to 211. You are on your way to Onederland, lady.

My turkey turned out OK. DH thought the white meat was stringy and he thinks it was frozen too long. I have no way of knowing how old it was before I bought it and put it in my freezer. I wrapped up the leftover and my step-daughter is coming to get it tomorrow along with the stuffing. They will eat it. I also have a jar of turkey gravy I will give her. It opened up a lot of room in my freezer. I kept a small amount of the dark meat for myself.

Mad, I agree when I go to the casino I eat a lot of protein! They have a salad bar but I'm not really big on salad. I prefer hot vegetables. Their selections are usually corn, carrots or collard greens. Some days they have a broccoli/cauliflower mix. They also have a pasta station, which I have never had, and several pasta dishes, like stuffed shells, or lasagna and usually a cold pasta salad. I never get those items. They also have fried chicken which is not a favorite for me, steak and grilled chicken. They marinate their steak in something I don't like, and the grilled chicken is white meat and I prefer dark. They also have a bountiful dessert bar. I never go there because the only thing I would want is cheesecake and they stopped having that. DH comes back with his hands full! LOL

Hi Pipsicle! Missed hearing from you this week.

Hi Donna! And any other lurkers.

Oooh, thanks for the reminder Carol, I had missed that Trish got back down to 211! Hurray, yes Trish, you are doing great.
A friend messaged me yesterday, after criticizing me fasting etc, she has been diagnosed with fatty liver, agreed that what she had been doing isn't working, and has already lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks of IF with lower carb higher fat eating. Maybe we will go for a dexascan together, LOL but I am glad for her. She has always been a very round lady, it will be different to see her as she gets thinner.
I am 151 this am, chocolate being my downfall again. Will fast again today, and work to get off my sugar kick.
Also, the airlines have not found my reading glasses, time to order new ones, the cheap cheaters are just not cutting it. I miss my lovely readers.
That is my Monday job, along with getting a nap. I was up until 330 am working, but now am "timed" onto my usual wake up time.
Dang, finally get reset to Ontario time after the jet lag, and I end up awake and working half the night!
Happy Monday friends

Weighed this morning after my shower and I am down to 209.4. I don't know how long it will stay because it bounced around before settling but at least it is in the realm of possibility. FBG was 134 which shows me that my new plan and vitamin regimen is working.

My yogurt didn't set last night. I actually wondered how it would. So many different ideas of how to make it. I am trying to keep it at 100 degrees in the convection oven and see if it sets. If not I will throw it out and look for a yogurt machine to make it right. The problem with the smaller oven is that there are no numbers for under 150 degrees so I'm guessing about the temp. If I get it over 115 the cultures will be dead and the yogurt won't be effective. I actually thought about just getting some whole milk and a good cultured yogurt from the store and adding the probiotic to the bought yogurt and make it that way. I would get the benefit of good store bought live cultures along with the lactobacillus reuteri. Surely it couldn't hurt. Inulin is a fiber and I don't think I would really need it if I made my new yogurt using a good commercial brand with good probiotics in it. I just might try that. I still think I need something better to make it in than a glass dish and my oven to get a good batch. I told DH that I thought I would get myself a yogurt machine for Mother's day. LOL

Today is our day to go see Daddy. I was going to take him a personal pan pizza, but don't guess I will since I can't call him. His phone is off. I talked to him yesterday and he didn't want to talk. He wanted to read his newspaper instead. I know he goes to eat in the dining area now and I think he has a lady friend so he isn't interested in us too much. He didn't even want to talk to DS very long when she called him yesterday. Actually I'm glad he is getting better satisfied. At least he is easier to deal with and I do want him to be as happy as he can be since he has to be there. I told DS that I am actually wondering if the Lord is being merciful to she and I by us not being in communication with him as much as we were that He is preparing us for when Daddy is gone. He will be 96 in June.

Well I have an easy 2 weeks coming up. Our beautician is leaving in the morning on a cruise with some friends and we won't see her to do our hair until the 21st when she comes back. We will get new perms that Saturday before Easter. So this 2 weeks are going to be my getting busy cleaning out the office that has never been an office. DH set up the shredder so I can get all that junk cleaned out and arranged nicely before his SIL and her Hubby come in May. Then it will be easier to get the guest bedroom straightened up because I can move my ironing board into that room and a few other things that we don't use. I hope to have room to put my recumbent bike in there too. I would like for my living room to look more like a living room. I hope this will help me get more organized so that I won't be embarrassed to have company over.

We didn't hear from Pipsicle yesterday. I hope you are doing okay Pipsicle and just busy.

Donna did you get moved into your new home? I am wondering how it is going living in the city after being in the country.

Carol Sue I hope you are pain free.

fatmad I hope you have a great day though a busy one. Glad you seem to be passed the Jet lag thing.

Everybody have a great day.

Had a few hours sleep but can't sleep longer, maybe later, or I will go to bed really early tonight.
Going to fast today, just stick to water and soda water for the rest of the day. I am no longer taking metformin the days I am fasting, as it just upsets my stomach now. I do take it when eating still. I don't "have" to have it, but there are protective effects beyond simple blood sugar maintenance. So I will stay on it, just on my terms.
I hope I can do more fasting this week, I would like to get into the 140s and really be there. I had hoped to do that before going to Berlin, but I will pursue it more now.

I maybe should go on my fasting website a bit more but I love the support of this site the best.
Trish: hope your visit with your father goes well. He seems to be settling in quite well over time.
Carol: You are doing so well and finding your way through the ups and downs of your life in such a good way, keep it up!

Have a good Monday friends,
