Mad the buffet was a regular Thursday buffet but I loved it. We must have arrived at just the right time because all the food was fresh. DH won a bit of money. We will use it for a new microwave.
I'm afraid to be too optimistic but my foot didn't hurt all day even walking around the casino. Maybe from the epsom salts soaks.
just did OMAD yesterday evening, (1 hr window) Its really a pain to eat and clean up with the braces. You want to eat all at once, which is great from the IF point of view, then floss and brush and put the braces back on. I had tea after supper. so brushed again before bed. I am having tea this morning, and will want to treat my morning breath anyhow before going out. I know its not good to do OMAD all the time, but doing the cleaning again mid day is not appealing. If I don't have lunch, I should just fast today. Will decide later. DH has not been inspired by food much since his dental surgery.
He bought pork chops yesterday, nice thick juice ones, but didn't eat one himself, so he could have that tonight and any leftovers and leave me out of it.
Weight is below (just ) 150 today. Had a rough evening after a disagreement with a colleague. I didn't talk to DH about it, we are friends with her and her husband, I love her kids, so I didn't want to be whining to him about it. I have been struggling on how to respond, I think I will still wait. The key is not to say anything that may make things worse, and I don't think I can do that yet. my Buddhist self will have to meditate on it.
Carol, so glad you enjoyed the buffet and didn't get sore walking about. Its nice to have the space to walk about inside even when the weather is not great. Casino walking, another alternative to mall walking! LOL
It may be a busy day, so I am going to start work now and head to the hospital to check on my peeps.

I had 2 scary dreams. The first one I heard DH in the basement hollering HELP. I jerked awake and felt beside me and he was there. He says I really hit him. The second one it was getting late and I couldn't come home because I couldn't find my car. I was at work and my cardiologist was my boss. I haven't had dreams like that in ages.
Today I am making horseradish and beets for Easter. Probably shopping for my ham. Tomorrow I will make Easter cheese which isn't really cheese but looks like it. The rest of my stuff will be made on Easter morning. Baked ham potato salad corn souffle and brownies. Then off to step sons to celebrate.
Carol Sue I haven't found anything that tells me how you would know that the Leptin is fixed. I also can't tell for sure how all this works with thyroid. I think I will just have to trust my LCHF diet to take care of everything because I'm not sure my doctor will ever accept the fact that if the Leptin isn't working right and they check thyroid the way they do right now the tests will always show that thyroid is normal. My only hope is that the DS doctor starts making them start checking it correctly. The other key seems to be them knowing how to read the test results.
Sounds like you had a good day at the casino and also got some good exercise walking around. We don't do anything special for Easter. We are going out to eat tomorrow for a combination celebrating my niece and her hubby moving away. He will graduate next month and already has a new job and they got approved yesterday as they are buying their first home together in a place about 4 hrs from us but 2 hrs from his mother. We will miss having her around. She has been as much my baby as her Mama's because I kept her for years when she was little. So we have nothing else planned. However, a ham sounds so good.
DH has been having keto itching and we watched a few YouTube videos on that last night. Although they still aren't 100% sure why it happens etc, some seems to think that the rashes I've had before probably meant that I probably was in ketosis and my body was detoxing my liver. They also think it could be brought on by getting into ketosis too fast by going too low with carbs. However they seem to think the mistake many people make is that they add some carbs back in to get rid of the rash/itching. However, I saw one girl say that the only way she got the itching to stop was by eating a little more carbs. She also recommended taking a turmeric curcumin and milk thistle. So DH had me order those and he wants both of us to take them. We actually decided that just maybe we have made big changes too fast. After all we are eating yogurt with really a great amount of prebiotics/probiotics to create healthy gut flora. DH has always eat much more sugar than I ever did although I had digestive problems even as a baby. Another thing I learned about the keto rash is also caused from fasting too long. The young lady who shared what happened to her, she said that she can fast 16 hrs, but if she goes longer that rash returns. I seem to do well with up to 19 hrs. So I think this will help me too.
That being said, I am sticking with LCHF/IF plan. I don't want to mess up what I've already started. My weight was up this morning, but then I'm not sure what I weigh because I think the scales have gone bad as I replaced the batteries yesterday. It just fluctuates all over the place. My FBG was 133 so it is staying about the same. I started today with the BPC with MCT oil and made that my breakfast. I will have lunch and then drink a MCT oil coffee and eat yogurt with pecans for a snack 5 hrs later so I will have a 19 hr fast. I don't seem to have any problems with that. For now I will give up the fruit in the yogurt.
fatmad I guess the braces are going to help you get your weight lower and definitely help with IF. IF makes things so much easier because I don't have to think about what to cook. Today I am having a problem because I'm not hungry and have no idea what to fix for lunch. I guess we will have eggs. Sorry about the problem with you colleague. Things have a way of working out and I pray this does as well.
I've got a new batch of yogurt going now and made this with one jar of my premade yogurt, but made this batch with whole milk. I will see how we like this one. I really like the one made with Organic half and half but that is expensive. So we will see which one we like the best. I made this one with 1/2 c Stevia and vanilla flavoring added too as I would like to eat it without fruit.
Thanks all. Carol, those were interesting dreams. I rarely have dreams I remember, and those I do are not so interesting.
I managed to fast all day while putting in a 14 hour workday. Home now, sipping decaf tea, going to get into the hot tub before bed to let these tired muscles relax.
Not planning anything more interesting than that for the rest of the night.
Trish: you are on the right track. Hope the yogurt goes well. Can you make the yogurt with regular cream and not organic? or are you going mostly organic?
I know dairy products in the US are not regulated against hormones and drugs the way they are here. I don't feel the need to go organic with that. I do tend to have organic veggies though. When I ate grains I stuck to organic when possible.
fatmad The yogurt I made before was with organic half and half. I made this batch with regular whole milk. I'm thinking that I might try going with the organic next time. Although everyone I see making it on line on YouTube use regular milk. Some use whole milk and some use low fat. I am wondering if I will get the same benefits as I am supposed to get with the organic.
It appears we both had a good OP day. Eating went very well today. We had hot dogs with sauerkraut and a salad. Then I had the last of the previous batch of yogurt with strawberries.
DH watched a doctor explaining how to on do keto for beginners. He told of 5 keto fruits we can eat both when in or out of ketosis as he also says he goes in and out of keto. He never went into why he didn't think you should do keto all the time. I saw another doctor who said it was best to not do keto all the time. The 5 fruits are berries, avocado, pomegranate, grapefruit and coconut oil.
One thing he said told that I didn't know is that there are good and bad LDL. He said the good LDL is larger fluffier and they help you lose weight. Coconut oil helps us have more HDL and the bigger fluffier LDL. I am going to alternate the blueberries and strawberries. He said the strawberries helps us burn fat and increases leptin. Just more good info to add to a healthy eating plan. Poor DH, he learned that he has to give up some more of his fruit. We had already give up bananas and now he has to give up his apple a day as it was stressed concerning the higher fructose in most of the fruits other than the 5 the man called keto fruits. I'm glad he finds these YouTube videos because he would never accept some of these things if I told him this stuff, but he will listen to it from these doctors.
Goodnight.
Trish, perhaps not giving up an apple every day but until this are more balanced. I mostly stick to berries for my fruits, but occasionally have apple slices. Not a big fan or pears, unless they are in something, (like a salad) in which case I will eat them too. I think once you are "on plan" you can have occasional changes, and maybe split the apple so you still enjoy the flavour, but not a big serving.
Im in favour of at least whole milk, or half and half, or even a mix of both for your yogurt. I buy my yoghurt, but go for stuff that is 9-13% fat, so that would be at the level of half and half. I do add my raspberries or blueberries to that, chia seeds and hemp hearts, and toasted nuts and seeds, like adding granola. Gives it a nice crunchy texture, and healthy fats to add with that. Its all yummy to me.
Weight 149 today. Will be out to work soon, and expect a busy day.
Have a good weekend and happy Easter friends. A blessed Passover as well.

Good morning. Lots of things to do today so I might not peek in here again until tonight. We have to leave around noon or so tomorrow so have to do most today. I will have everything ready for the potato salad tonight but mix it together in the morning. DH likes it mixed fresh. And he wants me to bake the Han today. It is going to be chilly here tomorrow high of 60. With some rain. Then it gets warmer the rest of the week but still rainy. April showers.
Good for you Trish and Mad. Both doing very well. Me not so much.Blood sugar is good but weight not so much. Keep on keeping on.
Carol Sue I'm not doing as well as fatmad when it comes to weight. My weight is back up and stuck at 217.2 ish these days. But then yesterday's meal wasn't terrific. I think I will eventually switch the yogurt to mornings instead of having it as an evening snack. I might be able to get my fasting to 20 hrs that way and do the 4 hr eating window that Dr. Berg recommends. I might try that most of next week.
fatmad I actually tasted the yogurt I made from whole milk and it is really good. Needs a little more Stevia and vanilla for me, but it is pretty good. The cooking the milk at 188 is supposed to get rid of some impurities so I may just go with it. I'm not big on apples and I think DH could have them but not every day since he isn't trying to lose weight. I am blessed that I like all the keto fruits although I've never eaten pomegranates. I actually love grapefruit and used to eat it because it has good stuff for joints. However, I stopped eating it when I took Metformin plus I don't think I'm supposed to have it with my Lisinopril bp med. I'll have to check that out. I prefer the blueberries and strawberries. I forget that I can put chia seeds into the mix. Thanks for reminding me of it.
Congratulations for hitting the 149. I knew that would happen when you got back into your EF and your braces will help that a whole lot.
I have beauty appointment this morning. She moved it to 11 am so DS and I will pushing things. I will come home and get DH and we will meet DS, BIL, niece and her hubby at Cracker Barrell. I usually have their catfish but it is farmed raised so not sure if I will have that or not. I'm thinking about having a nice big salad. I'll decide when I get there. I'm only eating the one meal and the yogurt later so will just plan to stay OP. DH and I will go to Walmart after. I've decided not to go grain free so I want to get some more grain crackers to eat with my salads and we need some more salad stuff and berries.
Got to run.
Y'all have a nice day and Happy Easter to all as well as Passover.

Trish, one of these days I want to talk DH into going to Cracker Barrel again. We only went once. I went a couple time when I worked up that way. It's a longer drive than we usually make but we can do it once. It's maybe 45 minutes and we would probably have to go on the PA Turnpike. He is picky, but he should probably be able to find something on their menu. Maybe I will bring it up online and go over it with him.
I have a list of things I need to do and am crossing each one off as I do it. I baked my ham, made beets/horseradish and Easter Cheese. I will cook the potatoes and eggs for potato salad and chop the veggies but not put it together until tomorrow. I will bake brownies and corn souffle tomorrow and out the door at noon. It's a good thing I went over my corn souffle recipe because I bought 1 can of corn and 1 of cream corn and I need 2 of each. I would have been disappointed tomorrow when I had to cut the recipe in half. So back to the store for more corn, plus I need yogurt.
Step daughter is stopping over to get half a ham, some beet/horseradish and Easter Cheese. She is not coming to her brother's tomorrow. Drama, drama, drama.
I am surprised that keto people make their yogurt with low fat milk.

My store had 10 different Greek yogurts and all were low fat except the one I buy.. It is Cabot. It says it is 33% fat. I didn't think that was possible. Aldi's has a high fat one too but I don't like it as well.
Carol: the Greek Gods yoghurt is about 12 or 13 % fat, and I have a Liberte (a Canadian brand I think) that is 10 % fat.
Low fat dairy foods are not recommended for Keto, so i am not sure about that. But lots of Keto followers eat high protein, and not enough fat, then wonder why they don't lose weight and don't get into ketosis.
Trish, you were more successful when you were following IF more carefully and during the time you did the lower carb and higher fat. Just because some books suggest you do certain things, if they don't work for you, they just don't.
I have not managed to really get down into the 140s yet. I know I will have to be a bit stricter with the IF and the LCHF, lay off any sweeteners for a while. I doubt that will happen this week though, or while I am away. I could make that a goal for May.
I have gotten to 149 a few times, but don't stay down there for long. SO I don't expect it this week, and certainly not while away in BC.
I hope every one has a lovely Easter and family time.
Carol Sue I don't think keto people make yogurt with low fat milk. When I was watching people make it on YouTube to learn how to make it they said you could use low fat milk to make it if you wanted to. I just ate my first yogurt made with whole milk and decided that I won't be making it with milk any more. I prefer the half and half. I bought a half gallon of regular half and half to use the next time I make it. I hope I will like it, but I may find that I prefer it made with the organic half and half. I noticed the yogurt made from milk became watery when I got ready to eat it.
One of the reasons I decided to try to make my own yogurt is that I wasn't able to find a full fat yogurt especially one that I liked. Then when I heard about one special probiotic that I wanted I decided that I wanted to know for sure that I get it in my yogurt and this was the only way for me to be sure. I was blessed to find the yogurt starter on Amazon that has excellent probiotics and prebiotics including the special one that I want. Unless I can find a better yogurt maker I will have to make yogurt every 4th day but it is really worth it.
Fatmad I did remember to put chia seeds in it. Thanks for the reminder.
Carol Sue It is a shame that your step daughter and her brother are having problems as that puts such a damper on things for everyone especially their Dad. I don't know why people can't just get a long especially family. But it happens. You are doing a lot of work for the dinner, how are you feeling? Are you pain free? We got our Turmeric Curcumin and took one tonight. The bottle says 2 a day, but I told DH we might should start taking them one a day to start with but I forgot and put both of them in our pills for next week.
I bought some decaf green tea today because DH is going to start drinking it with me. I am amazed at this man. However, we went to Cracker Barrell and he did get his side dish of chicken and dumplings. I always eat a few bites of them since I love them, but I forgot to. We got home and was getting settled when I told DH that I didn't get a bite of it. I did have a corn muffin as they have great tasting cornbread muffins. I did get the fried farm raised catfish. I decided we don't eat there often and it would be no big deal. They have a new side salad made of a combo of brussel sprouts, kale and pecans. I'm not sure what the dressing was perhaps a basalmic and also had cranberries in it. I wasn't sure if I would have ordered it if I had known how sweet it tasted. I checked my bs about 2 hrs later and it was 171 so I don't think it was too bad for what I had. I just had the one meal and then I finished off my day with a serving of the yogurt and blueberries tonight. So I really had a good eating day considering.
Y'all may all be headed out before I get on line tomorrow so y'all have a blessed and happy Easter tomorrow.
fatmad We were typing at the same time. Yes I agree with you. I'm thinking that doing keto is much like learning what you can and can't eat as a diabetic. I learned over the years that just because one diabetic could eat a certain food didn't mean that I could. That is where using my glucose meter became my best friend as I learned what I could and couldn't eat. That is what I am doing now with LCHF (I don't consider myself keto) and why I like checking my bs within an hr or 2 after a higher carb meal or food. It helps me decide what higher carbs I am willing of want to keep in my food plan. I am finding that my 19 hr fast is getting easier. I hope to make this way of eating my normal way of eating.
When do you go to BC? I guess I missed that or forgot it.

Trish, I don't know that step daughter's problem is with her brother, but with her aunt and uncle who are going to be there. And I'm not 100% sure of that either. She just says her husband doesn't want to go there today. It's just me who thinks there is more to it than that. To be honest, DH doesn't want to go either, but he's going. He will probably not want to stay very long.
I think I have seen Greek God's yogurt in Walmart. I came across the Cabot by accident in a local grocery store and now our Walmart has started to carry it. Since I like to so much I have no interest in going back to making my own. I could never make it as thick as this one. I think it has some ingredients that some would find undesirable for keto/low carb, but I am not as strict with my eating as others, and I am happy with it.
I feel OK. My hands hurt, but my feet feel a lot better. The hands make it hard for me to do some things, but when my feet hurt it's impossible to get around, so that is more important. I got too tired to soak them last night and I hope to do it today before we leave. I have one more dish to make then all I have to do it pack it all up. I did everything else before DH got up and that makes it a lot easier.
I hope everyone has a nice Easter. Ours is cold and rainy.
