LOL Mad, I posted that yesterday from the casino on my phone, which is a little tricky compared to on the PC. I learned something new. Apparently, as a Mod, I can post in a closed/locked thread. I deleted it. I wondered why that post wasn't here this morning. It was actually DH who won the money but what's his is mine!!

DH and I just went round and round about dinner. He wanted breakfast from McDonald's so we did. Then he opened a bag of pork rinds and we ate some of them. i am not hungry now. I told him before that if I eat a big breakfast that I'm not going to also want a big dinner especially after the casino buffet last night. That is how I used to eat...back when I was gaining the 80 lbs. So now he says he's not going to get fish just for himself so I told him to go ahead and go hungry.. He will probably just go up to the local fire hall and get their fish fry even though it's not as good as what he could get somewhere else. I think in the future when he suggests going for breakfast I should tell him right then and there that it's either breakfast or dinner but not both.

Carol Sue So sorry you are having this issue with DH, but it is your health we are talking about here. I hope things get better. Congratulations on the money y'all have won over the past few weeks. It is great to be so blessed to help with your unexpected medical bills y'all recently had.

My FBG first thing this morning was 140. I wondered why until I realized that I had a diet ice cream yesterday when I wanted something sweet. I didn't eat that many carbs that I know of, but I obviously had more than I realized. In fact, after reading the info on DietDoctor.com, I've decided to use MFP again to be sure I keep my carbs lower. I want to keep them under 70 grams. I put my food for today on MFP and my total calories to day was 1154, net carbs are 60 grams, fat grams 75 and protein is kind of low at 50 grams so I need to figure out how to bring that up. I might need to eat eggs or some kind of quick protein in the evening as I'm trying to have 1 meal and a snack for now.

My weight is back down to the lowest that I reached just before Daddy got sick last year. My weight is back down to 214.2 this morning. I am so very happy with these results. I was able to continue my fast until 3:30 today so lowest FBG before main meal today was 110 so I'm still good. I am very happy with the way things are going with my LC/IF plan is going. So the longer fast does work better.

I too wondered about your post on the old thread. I forgot about you posting from the casino. I'm also getting ads again. I'm not sure why I'm getting them and can't remember what I did to stop them the last time I got them.

fatmad You are actually doing very well so I'm sure you will get down in the 140s soon. I can't remember when you go to Germany to meet with your DD. Is it at the end of this month?

I usually take Daddy something to eat after my beauty appoint. I had asked him yesterday morning what he wanted. Daddy called me last evening and said he wanted a Cheeseburger from Whataburger. So I took him one today and visited with him a bit. I also stopped at the store on the way to get him some liverwurst. I told him if he really likes it that I will keep bringing it to him because it a great source of B12. Mind still isn't real clear but it is a little better. I don't know how long it takes for the higher dose of thyroid meds to start working.

I'm getting sleepy so I'm going to take a quick nap before DH decides to watch a movie.

Yeah, so I blew it tonight. I bought some tortilla chips and had them with some cheese and salsa. So broke my fast and had a high carb meal to boot. Also had some "regular" food of guacamole, and veggies and some nuts.
I am thinking I will fast again tomorrow. Hope that will get me back on track.

Perhaps Shrove Tuesday is more Anglican (aka Episcopalian or Church of England) which is an odd hybrid of protestantism and catholicism. (Not being insulting, just historically accurate) I am not sure I have seen it outside of that, but that is the church I mainly went to growing up, and I don't think I noticed if it wasn't being observed otherwise. We now have St. Patrick's Day coming up, which again is actually a religious holiday. We also had the tradition of "jig's supper" of corned beef and cabbage on that day. Anyone else do that? That's the day my mother died, and I often think of having that meal, so I still have it to celebrate her. Again, she wasn't big on cooked cabbage, so we only got that supper once a year. Funny how that is.

Well, I am off to work, likely to be up most of the night. Have a good sleep the rest of you!

Mad I also have a story regarding St Patrick's Day. My MIL always bought religious greeting cards from the church for her 5 children. It usually said a mass will be said in your name. One year we got a card in the mail in early February. When I got it out of the mailbox I said to DH "Your mother sent us a Valentine!" She never did that before. When I opened it up it was a St Patrick's Day card. Jerry called his brother who lived with Mom and told him she was sending out St Patrick's Day cards and it wasn't even Valentine's Day. She laughed about it and said that they cards were out for sale at the church and she didn't know when St Patrick's Day really was. As it turned out, she passed away in March and her funeral was on St Patrick's Day. I told them she sent the cards early because she knew she wasn't going to be able to send them on the day. Also, when she turned 85 the year before, we all took her out to dinner. Afterwards, she mentioned another restaurant she would have liked to go to and I told her we would take her there for her birthday next year and she replied that she wasn't going to be here next year....and she wasn't. No one ever took her out to eat because she would look and look at the menu and not be able to find anything that interested her, and then when she finally did order something she would take a bite or two and say she wasn't hungry. She was just so used to her Slovak home cooking that American food just wasn't for her.

I've never had corned beef and cabbage. I love cabbage, and I love corned beef hash, but I don't know if I would like corned beef and I would be shocked to death if DH ate it.

The issue with DH about dinner was really over in a matter of minutes. When he left to go pick up his fish dinner from the fire hall he said "I'm getting a fish dinner and I'm going to eat the whole thing, so there won't be any left." He was trying to get me to tell him to bring something for me but I truly wasn't hungry. He brought his food home and commented that they only gave him 1 piece of fish. The other restaurants we go to give us 2 or 3 pieces of fish on a sandwich. But still, he didn't eat the whole thing. The firsh was a very long piece of fish on a long bun. He ate about 3/4th of it and gave me the piece he didn't eat. I did eat that small piece of fish, and I was nauseated the rest of the night. I just wasn't hungry and he couldn't understand that. I plan on continuing this to be sure I'm not eating when I'm not hungry and hopefully he will get used to it. What I have to do is be sure that I eat a very small breakfast of just scrambled eggs, then by 3-4PM I will be hungry again and able to have dinner with him. I am training myself to eat smaller dinners....that I don't have to eat everything on my plate just because it's there, and that's helping with both weight and blood sugar.

My mother used to speak of Shrove Tuesday, but to her it was just the day before Ash Wednesday. There were no pancakes involved, and no fasting or giving up anything for Lent. DH is Roman Catholic. There have very strict rules about Lent, but many are no longer observing them. They put ashes on their forehead on Ash Wednesday, but people rarely do it anymore. We used to see a lot of people with the ashes on their forehead but not anymore. This year I saw on the news that they were having "drive thru" ashes at churches all over the country. The priest stood outside and people could stop in their cars and received their ashes. It seemed a little strange to me, but I guess if it's going to get people to observe the tradition then it's all well and good.

Trish, what brand of liverwurst do you buy? We used to buy Lugar and that was the only one DH liked. Then Hatfield bought them out and it was no longer sold in our area. If we go to the deli for it it is some off brand and not as good. Then two stores here started selling it in the prepackaged deli case and it was made by Sugardale. It was delicious. I would buy a package of it every few weeks because we both liked it. Now it is no longer sold in our area. I saw Hatfield prepackaged last week and bought it but it is not as good, so I guess if they don't bring back the Sugardale we will never have it again. I think it was more of an old people's food and the younger people don't buy it.

Trish, I asked about the ads and was told that the forum has brought back the ads to help pay for the forum. There is an extra charge to have a forum ad-free. They should only show up at the bottom of the last post in the thread, or on the side but not covering up the posts. I am used to them now and just ignore them.

I have slept well the past 2 nights. I've been able to fall back to sleep after I get up to go to the bathroom. It makes me feel better to get that much sleep.

I have been reading a lot about the new med they put me on for the stent. I wanted to switch to the old med but my doctor said no, and told me to talk to the cardiologist about it. I feel that for whatever reason it did not work for me, and the other med always worked well for me. I have been reading about the new drug on line and it has a lot of side effects. Many people stop it because of bleeding, mostly nose bleeds during the night. That would be scary. I am not having any bleeding and very little bruising, but I am having irregular heart beat. I was really worried when I got that, but now I read that it is a side effect of the meds. Online it said that they try very hard to get people to continue the drug in spite of the side effects but some people flat out refuse. I feel that way, but my cardiologist is very persuasive. If my stent had not blocked up in such a short time I probably would care about the side effects, but why take a drug that didn't work, is giving irregular heart beat and is also so expensive my insurance won't cover it. There doesn't seem to be any benefit for me. I told DH that someday we will see an ad on TV saying "If you took xxxxx drug and you suffered a blocked stent, call our law firm at 800-555-5155." I know they test these new drugs, but I feel that you are still being a guinea pig by taking them when they first come out. So many of them end up being taken off the market.

Yesterday was more carby for me too with the homemade pizza although I do eat a lot of veggies with it. I ended up eating a slice of Provolone and drank some ACV drink along with it hoping it would buffer the carbs some. I think using MFP will help although I'm not sure you can trust their #s 100%. It brought my calories up to 1224, but my net carbs was still 60 which from what I've read online it makes it easier to lose weight if you can keep the carbs around 70 grams. My goal is to keep them between 40 and 70ish most of the time. Net carbs will be under 40 today.

I am going back to breakfast around 11ish and eat am main meal around 3:30 or 4 and allow a snack later if needed. I am going to go for eating within 16:8 IF ratio for now. I may be able to cut that snack out completely and go straight to the 19:5 IF ratio, but the slice of Provolone cheese I eat has 0 carbs and 5 g fat and 5 g protein so it is a good thing to end my fast with each day.

FBS was 138 still better than what I used to get and the fact that I had carbs in the pizza dough which was whole wheat thin crust. Also the cheese has a lot of sodium although it didn't show up on MFP as being too high and I never know about their counts since I have to estimate. One good thing about the pizza is that I wasn't able to eat as much as I usually would have. Going by the IE rule that one of the doctors I watch I think Dr. Berry said was eat until you feel full and stop. That is exactly what I did. That is the only meal that DH serves me and he didn't hear me say I couldn't eat it. When he went to get his third piece, he brought me a 3rd piece and I turned it away telling him I couldn't eat it. YAY!!! Progress. My weight was up .8 lbs because of the sodium in the pizza.

Carol Sue DH played a youtube thing about Tumeric/Cumin and said that if you take antacids or blood thinners not to take it. So I looked it up and found there are side effects when taking them. I take Nexium for my stomach and trying to come off it since the ACV is supposed to be good digestive problems. I had to take it out of my supplement regimen. Today is my first day off of it so we will see how I do without it. Strange thing for me is that when I eat cucumber, my joints don't hurt. I get tired of them but if it works.

The only holidays my family ever celebrated was Thanksgiving and Christmas. Maybe because when I was growing up, Daddy and Mama were members of a church they were baptized in and joined before Daddy went to war. Their family were Christians but didn't go to church much. I always walked to Baptist church by my school on Sundays. I think I was the only one who went I don't remember anyone going with me. Our grocery lady would get me some Sundays and take me to her Methodist church when she went, but I mostly walked to the Baptist church. I went to Sunday School class and came home and then I always went to Vacation Bible School so all the other things they did in the churches I didn't know much about. My parents got saved and started going regularly to church after I left home. One night at our Bible Study, I shared something my Daddy used to say to me before he was saved and how critical he was of me and DS . BS said, "I didn't know those parents, because by the time I came along, they were saved and were completely different people". Most of what I learned spiritually was kind of guided by my Mama's Mama and what I searched for and learned on my own. However, I think this is good because I am more confident in what I believe because it is mine. I own it so to speak. I continue to learn because I believe we get in to trouble when we think we know it all and don't need to learn any more. JMHO

I have a few relaxed weeks ahead and plan to get myself more grounded in my eating plan. I want to get so used to this woe that it become my lifestyle again. O how I wish I had known all that I know now when I was 19 yrs old because this is the way I ate back then and I would have never allowed any one to talk me into eating any other way. I would have NEVER have had a weight problem.

Carol Sue I am glad you are finding a way to work things out with DH and your eating. I know eating breakfast and then eating with DH and then not eating anything else until breakfast the next day is the best way for me to successfully lose weight and get my FBS back down to normal. At least after reading so much of Dr. Fung's info and some of these doctors who do IF/Keto/LC, I now know that when I choose to over do the carbs that I am going to have a few days to get back to burning body fat. The higher FBG means that I am dumping access glucose from liver and that is a good thing and given a few days back OP, it will all go back to burning body fat. I've always been a person even as a child who wanted to know why. It really helps me a lot to know why certain things happen because of what I do.

fatmad You will bounce back quickly. It has helped me to know that Dr. Fung who does IF says that he takes vacation from IF from time to time and enjoys eating on his trips and cruises, but he gets right back on his IF plan when he gets back home. I think it is good for us to remember this so that we know we can have a day off of our plan sometimes and then get right back on. You got this girl.

Beautiful day today and then rain for 3 days here.

Y'all have a great day.

Cant help but feel its a bit of self-sabotage. Oh well. Wt was 151 today. Slept a bit and hoping for more. DH always has a solid nap when he gets the opportunity. I had about 3.5-4 hrs of sleep. Need more, but its elusive. I don't sleep during the day as well as I used to. Here' s hoping.
Have a good day. friends

We went to a PA casino today. We came home broke. We couldn't even stop for a loaf of bread we needed. Lol. Can't win all the time. I'm exhausted and am going to bed.

My new routine went very well. I made it today with a 6 hr eating window. Not a 5 hr window like I wanted but I'll take it. That will give me an 18 hr fast so I consider that good. Stayed busy with laundry tonight which helped keep me from thinking about food.

I didn't get enough sleep last night so I hope I get a good nights sleep tonight. Goodnight.

Trish: so pleased that this is working for you and the weight is coming off. Start (if you haven't yet) doing some waist measurements, even if you don't post. I find that the waist sometimes gets smaller even if the weight plateaus for a bit, and it keeps the encouragement going.

Carol: too bad about the casino. Thats several trips in a short time, is DH trying to make up for lost time because of the surgery?

I am at 151 again today, I did OMAD yesterday, as DH had a hankering for ribs, and I knew I could not resist that, so why try. I make us a big lemon free caesar salad. With that I wound up only eating 3 ribs. Right 3 ribs, not even 1/2 rack, LOL. When this WOE works, you just can't keep eating. Huh.

Today will be OMAD or a total fast again I think.

Mad DH would go to the casino 3 times a week if I agreed to it and he doesn't even care if we lose it all. I have to keep him reigned in within reason. He keeps reminding me that I got 3 months off without going.

Today he was perturbed that I didn't want to go out for breakfast. He went to McDonald's to get a breakfast sandwich and I see there is another one sitting out there on the counter. Lol. He is not going to give up and I am going to stand my ground. He wants his eating buddy back.

Yesterday at the casino I had an antipasto salad that was to die for. I didn't plan on eating When we got home but I was hungry and had a Japanese noodle bowl similar to ramen noodles. Not a good choice but Blood Sugar was only 115 when I got up this morning. I don't understand but I won't complain and I won't get in the habit of doing that. Those noodles are something I like but I only buy them occasionally. I find that if I eat things like that once in a while I don't get strong cravings and don't go off the rails. No food is off limits for me but some are limited. Knowing that I can have it if I want it takes away the temptation. I occasionally buy a candy bar at the check out but not every time and it has to be something I really want like a Midnight Milky Way. I lose slower but it seems to work for me.

I don't cook ribs because DH won't eat them .He won't eat any meat with a bone. I get ribs sometimes I if we eat out but have to be careful of the sauce. I'm starting to realize that my life is all about DH. Lol

A while later DH picked up the breakfast sandwich and said "are you going to eat this?" I said I don't know, what do you want to do with it? He said " feed it to the dog." Lol .The dog will not eat that. He does not like sausage and will eat the white of a hard boiled egg but not other eggs. This is becoming fun. We decided to go out for stuffed pork chop dinner so I told not eating all day allows me to do that. Eventually he will see the benefit.

Carol: I would think he would also see the benefit, you have lost quite a bit of weight. Maybe do a facial friday this week and compare pics of you from heavier days and you now. Until you see them side by side, its harder to see. But very encouraging when you do.
Yesterday I tried on another dress I have never worn, but didn't want to give up. Its a "Lucy" style of dress, or MadMen if you like, with the big full skirt and shirt still on top and looked lovely on me. It "just" fit though, I will wear it this spring if I can keep to these measurements or less.
I have not been walking enough and need to get back into shape. This week should be better, we are getting major melting today so I hope for clear sidewalks this week.
DD is coming in tonight, we have decided to have "pasta" for supper. Regular for DH, and Konjac noodles for DD and me. She is also avoiding gluten.
We will all have salad and the same sauce. Looking forward to it!

Carol- Great job on standing your ground.
Mad- I hope your headache is better.
Patty- Sounds like you are on a good path.

I had a lot of little tick marks in my favor this week. However, the indicators I can measure are being very stubborn and have not shown a positive change. Still in it though and hoping this week is my week. Happy Sunday.

Weight today stuck at 215 with a bounce back down to 214.8 but settled at 215. My scale only does .2 so I wonder if the weight is probably more of a 214.9 but scale doesn't read that way. But staying in one weight so firmly is good. FBG was 120 so the 30 minutes exercise helped a lot with that. No real exercise today unless I decide to do 15 minutes later. Just normal everyday movements today.

I made the 1 minute Keto muffin this morning and then toasted it in new oven … wasn't sure about putting it in a toaster. I guess I should have turned it over and toasted on both sides. I wasn't all that impressed, but I will say that the egg in it brought my protein count up for the meal. It made me feel too full so not sure I will eat it very often. I honestly think my Sara Lee 45 calorie bread would be better, because of the fiber. Will have to see how it goes.

Lazy day which is good because with the time change I need it. I went to bed at my usual 1am, but of course that means I went to bed at 2am with the time change. I slept until 9:30 to get my 7 hrs sleep but it just didn't help. I really love it when the daylight is longer so I hope I will adjust quickly.

I talked to Daddy and he still isn't back to par with thinking. Yesterday he didn't remember that DH and I bought a house here and where we live. I reminded him that he and DS saw my house before I did and that they used to drive out here all the time to check on how it was progressing. He said he remembered but not sure he did. Then today he saw an ad on tv for Burger King and kept telling me he sure wished he had a good hamburger. I asked him if he remembered that I took him one Friday. He said he did but then again before I hung up he mentioned how he would love to have a good hamburger. So either the upped thyroid meds hasn't made a bit difference or it hasn't taken hold yet. At least he is calmer than he was before.

We are having fish today. I wonder if you can pan fry fish without any batter. This is tilapia and I don't like it baked and it is too thin any way. I will try frying it with almond flour in a little bit of butter. I'm trying to stay away from corn meal because of they say you can't get GMO free. Oh well. I'll see how it goes.

Carol Sue I think it is interesting how your DH is being about the way you want to eat. I think making it kind of gun thing for you is the best way to go. We have to do what we have to do.

Dr. DiVantonio, I bet I spelled that wrong, and someone got into kind of an argument about why he doesn't eat his eggs scrambled very often because it changes the oxidation of the yolk which has something to do with making it high in Omega 6. I thought the doctor handled it very nicely. He just said this was his preference but didn't ever say "you have to eat them runny". I didn't read all of it because I got bored feeling like some people wanted to correct him and change his mind. He talked like eating them cooked boiled even hard boiled and poached etc was okay. It seems it only changes when they are scrambled. I'll still eat them scrambled because I don't eat them that way often, but I don't eat a lot of foods with Omega 6 any more either.

Pipsicle Congratulations to sticking to your plan. Believe me I know it is not easy to keep doing what you know is right when it doesn't look like it is working. It will finally work.

fatmad How often do you measure? I was going to measure once a month. Should I do it more often? I love ribs, but don't get them often. I haven't tried it here, but there was a place DH and I used to go to in Charlotte that would allow me to order them with the sauce on the side. I always got the sauce because I knew I wouldn't eat all the ribs and would take most of them home to DGS and he would want the sauce. They thought I was nuts the first time I asked for it that way. We also had a restaurant in that area that would serve you barbecue meat without the sauce and had about 4 or 5 different kinds of sauces on the table and you could use whichever flavor you wanted. I was doing Atkins and I loved being able to have that type of meal and no sweet sauces. Enjoy being with your DD.

Well, I'm getting a surge of energy so guess I better go cook our lunch as DH will be getting hungry.

Y'all have a nice Sunday.
