Morning, ladies!
Leaving soon to meet up with some friends to run dogs. We're scootering at the waterfront today.
My weight is still bouncing up, but is still lower than last week's numbers. I do think it's time I got serious about counting up my cals and keeping track, though, just to make sure I'm not overdoing it there.
I went to the Super Supplements store last night, found out the Kre Alkalyn is a name brand, not sold by them. I bought another creatine product, but when I got home realized it has some type of vein wall softening ingredient, which I'm not sure I want. I already have some varicose type veins in my legs, so I don't think something that makes the vein walls softer would be good for me. Also, this morning, I realized I should probably hold off on the creatine, until I'm in more of a heavy lifting phase. I don't think I'd get all the bang for my buck out of it while taking this crossfit class, since we're still working with light weights (other than the pull-ups, lol). I'm realizing, too, that while I find the crossfit workouts fun, I'm not sure I want to do this all the time. I really miss lifting heavy and more bodybuilder style stuff.
I went to the Y last night and tried to max out the assisted pull-up machine. Only made it up to 100 lbs assist on regular grip (palms away), but got it to 60 lbs assist on the close grip (palms facing each other)...unfortunately, it's not possible to try chin-ups on that machine. I did deadlifts, but once again 155 lbs was heavy and I started losing my form, so I didn't try to go heavier. Practiced the push jerks a little, but it was pretty crowded, so I didn't do too many, for fear of hitting somebody, plus a lot of people were staring, like I'd grown a third eye.
Hello everyone! Sorry for not checking in earlier. I've been crazy busy.
I have been having some problems with my eating, namely eating too little (about 500 calories a day). I know this is very bad so I'm working with my PCP and a dietitian to break the cycle, and so far it's working. I've been adding 100 calories a day to the 500 so I can gradually get back up to a normal range. I know if I jump back to 1200 and then gain 2 pounds, I freak out and go back to my 500 calories. Anyway, I think my body is pleased to get the extra calories and I've been very apprehensive about weight gain so when I stepped on the scale today and had lost 1 1/2 pounds, I was shocked. It's keeping me motivated to get my calories back to the healthy range though.
So, I'm at 149.5 now and only 4.5 pounds away from my goal. But I think I'm going to forfeit that goal for a new one. Getting back to a normal and healthy caloric intake before Easter. I think it'll serve me better than just losing some pounds.
You guys are all doing great and are further inspiration to me to lose weight in a healthy way. Thank you all so much and keep up the great work.
Gettin super close!!!! Now at 193! Reached my St Patty's Day goal so yeah me!
Yesterday I kicked some serious butt. I did 30DS while DD was napping. Then when she got up from nap we went to the gym. Then at the gym I tanned and did strengh (cuz I knew I wouldn't have time today) and then did 30 min on the elliptical. Can I tell you that I was about ready to fall out?! LOl but surprisingly I felt great!
Checking in, bad grammar and typing to ensue - broken finger + drying polish (chipped the mani at the gym, poo).
Kool Nickster - yr firmly planted in the 1's, no heading back now. Good work.
Cammie - it sounds like yr head is on right about this. Good goals, ideas and plan. Sounds like yr getting it under control.... sweet!
Jamma - I can send you Kre Alkalyn if u wanty. Serious. SciFit makes one, yeah. I knowit's patented, but dif co's sell it??? Huh.
BB'ing kicks a$$. I think so anyway. When I try other stuff, strength stuff, I miss my good ol' BB'ing. Nothing like a pump.
I get the 3rd eye stare often. 'Specially when I do pullovers, guys think it's odd to see a chick do it I guess. I think the serratus is beautiful myself.
Grits - Moving stuff qualifies as intense labor in my book!
Retired -on track and that's all that matters. Most of my challenges that I met were Hail Mary losses, last minute. Surprise yourself!
Barb - What kinda ring? Will catch up soon when I regain control of my hands.

Cam, I'm glad to hear that you're working those cals up. I'd dropped mine down below 1300, not on purpose, just not paying attention. Adding the cals back in really helped my body to start letting go of some pounds again. Sounds like it's working for you, too. I think your new goal will get you where you want to be faster than super low cals, anyway. Fat is an easy way to work those cals up, too, if you have trouble eating a lot. Peanut butter, avacados, olive oil, even salad dressings, those can all be a source of cals to keep the numbers up.
Nicki, I think you're rocking this challenge and are going to hit that number before Easter!
I just got back from the waterfront. There were 4 of us that ran dogs together today. The first mile was a gauntlet of aggressive little pet dogs on flexi-leads, but it opened up after that, and we had a good run...5 miles in all as a group. We retired to Starbuck's after, and the Gracie dog insisted that I buy a slice of blueberry coffee cake for us to share...that dog has NO willpower! I had 2 bites, and she took care of the rest. Dogs are good helpers when you just want a bite or two of something you don't normally eat. After all our friend's left, we headed back for the truck, but Gracie wanted to run some more (passed right on by the truck, lol), so we went another 3 miles at a leisurely pace, with a long break for a dog to swim at the beach. It was sunny and spring temps, and we didn't want to go home. We're back home now, though, and Miss Gracie is having a well-deserved nap.

Back from skating. Got in a solid 2 hrs of dance practice...good workout! Some roller derby girls were there, so my friend and I had some actual grownups to race against. It was fun! They tried to sell me on the virtues of roller derby after the race. I'm still skerred of that sport! Must go die now. Have to be up early (for a Saturday) to hit the crossfit torture class. Maybe I will make some progress on the pull-ups tomorrow.
Jam....it has literally taken me up until RIGHT NOW to finally determine if you meant ice skating or roller skating when you mentioned going to "skating" all these times! haha I probably should have asked, but never did! haha
I'm doing ok with this challenge. The scale is going down, so that's always a good thing! I kind of took a week long haitus from working out when my nephew and sister were home visiting during that time because they live so far away and I wanted to be able to spend as much time as possible with them. But I've been back this week and hopefully back on track to stay!
I am leaving in a couple minutes to meet a friend for some shopping and a Stars on Ice skating show. I'm so excited Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Chele, yes, roller skating. It's a good workout. I found this video online that is pretty close to what my friends and I do at the rink, since we're too old to look cool breakdancing on skates. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6P-Io320yyE
Well, I was doing great yesterday until evening. My sister's dh bowed out on going to her friend's retirement party, so she invited me to go along with her. Bunch of crazy (fun) postal workers that just get more entertaining, the older they get. It was a ton of fun, but then there was an evil, evil cake, chocolate and raspberry with killer frosting, and there was chocolate ice cream to go with the cake. So, I had to have a piece. I was good other than that, had some of the fabulous seafood stew and drank water the whole time, lots of water. Still, by the time I got home, I could already feel the carb headache coming on. My sister recommended taking some tylenol before bed, and that worked to lessen the carb hangover this morning. Well, it was a fun party.
Had planned to go to my sister's house to do some yard work today, but woke up this morning to SNOW again. This is the weirdest winter and spring we've had in a long, long time. I wish spring would arrive already!
So, I guess I'll stay home, catch up on some house cleaning. Had planned a rest day for today from the exercise, but I'll see what I feel like doing later.
Yesterday was AWFUL, food wise! I literally ate a bowl of Rice Krispies for breakfast, a Reeses peanut butter egg for lunch, and then a chocolate cherry blossom donut, chocolate danish, and ice capp from a random Tim Horton's that is on the Mass/RI border for dinner. SO BAD!!! I felt so sick all last night. But I made sure to get back on track today and even did an hour on the elliptical to make up for yesterday's chocolate and carb fest. Bleh!
Hey guys. Did good this weekend. Friday stayed OP all day. Saturday stayed on plan until drinks after work and pizza after drinks. But Saturday morning I did strength, elliptical, 30DS and abs so i rocked the gym!!! Today I was WAY under cals because I slept most of the day away. LOL. No lower on the scale but it's cool. I'm down for the week.
Also a good weekend here!! Saturday me and my SO went to the gym together. We did a little working out together. I did some walk/jog intervals on the treadmil again and when I got home it was so nice I decided to do a little more intervals outside. Sunday was kind of a lazy day, I got a new tattoo from my friend and we went grocery shopping.
I am down 3lbs this week though so I think all in all I had a productive week!! I also bought myself a new MP3 player as a reward for an awesome week!!
Nick - Congrates on the weightloss. You are getting REALLY close to the 80s!
Jansk8r - I can definitely relate to the carb hangover, as I have one right now. I went way over on them last night - to the point I actually felt sick. Woke up with the headache today.
I didn't do any workouts last week due to not feeling well, and my eating was way off, but I am down 3lbs!!!! I am refocused today and going to do my 2 miles this morning and start the week off right. I want to get down atleast 5 lbs, as I am leaving for Chicago on Thursday to see my daughter who graduates Navy Boot Camp!!! I am soooo excited!!!
Just flying by for a quickie. Busy weekend and I'm on my own this week - DH is out of town. IF the big kiddo goes to sleep on time I'll attempt to catch up!

Hey peeps.
Sunday, I ended up doing some practice for Crossfit class: overhead squats, pull-ups (or attempted pull-ups) and push-ups. I'm trying to get better at the real all the way to the floor Crossfit style push-ups, since doing knee push-ups all the time is getting to be a bit embarrassing. I feel like I should be able to do them if I just keep practicing!
I was able to cut down the sugar in my tea again, by another half teaspoon. Not much progress, but it adds up. Also, today, I had 2 cups of tea this morning, then put my cup away, and am just drinking the water. Will see if I can make it through the day with 3 or 4 cups, instead of 5. Every little bit helps, IMO. Slow and steady progress, that's my method!
The dietary/food bits are going well. I'm doing the Zone thing, Paleo-ish, but still having my 1 yogurt a day and the milk in my tea. The scale is inching down again, after going up for a few days after the first bomb-like drop. TOM is coming, so I'm not sure if it's calorie related or just tweaking in pre-TOM mode. In the meantime, I'm sticking with the same meal plan each day, to give it a thorough test drive before seeing if I need to adjust the cals.
Today will have to be my rest day from exercise. It's gross outside again, so I'll probably hole up in the house, catch up on some paperwork, do housework, and probably blow some time on the computer in between.
