Grits, thanks for clarifying, I thought it was called boot camp, but then wasn't sure if that was just my memory not being what it should be! Glad I could help on the fat thing. I am not all that, just read that in a book by Covert Bailey, he's a great author for putting things in plain language anybody can understand. You should check out any of his books on diet/exercise some time, to read it for yourself, but that was the gist of my understanding on the fat burn/re-storage process.
Lori, that's a lot of walking! You're da bomb! It sure is working for you. I miss my long slow jogging, but with the new crossfit workouts having a lot of sprinting in the warm-ups, I just haven't been able to do the long runs. I'm loving the crossfit experience, but it sure doesn't leave much gas in the tank for other workouts!
Hey Angel , hope you'll be feeling better soon!
I'm just putzing today. Taking a rest day from the exercise, since the last 4 days just wiped me out, and my everything hurts, but especially my legs and my knees are letting me know they need a break. I hate rest days, but they seem to help. TOM is almost over, so hopefully I'll be able to tell better how the new way of eating is working out. I'm thinking maybe my cals are too high, but can't be sure due to pre-TOM and TOM weeks, then some killer workouts this week have had me holding water weight, so need to give it another week or so, see if things are moving up, down, or not at all. I'm okay with the scale numbers, but would like to get the diet dialed in so I'm leaning out, and not just maintaining, since I still have a ways to go with the fat loss.
jamsk8r - It is good to get in a rest day. I also had a rest day today sort of. I did a light cardio workout this morning for 30 min but other than that I also had a rest day. I worked upper body pretty hard on Friday and am really feeling it today.
Lori - wow great job on all the walking. I wish I had that much time. Also congrats on the 7 lbs.
AngelMae - I hope you feel better.
mygritsconfessions - hope you had a great day today. Thank you for the support.
brooksrm - welcome to the team. I hope you reach your goal.
Today I made a few bad choices. I had two small pieces of pizza. Caved in to TOM cravings. Although a year ago I would have eaten at least half the pizza. It is nice to notice progress. Then my husband kept me on track the rest of the day. I ended up staying within my calorie range, ate 3 veggies and one fruit (prob 2 servings). I also went through my closet and bagged up my old clothes from quite a few sizes ago. They will go to charity as soon as I can drop them off. That felt great.
I hope everyone had a happy and healthy weekend! It was a good and busy one around here. Believe it or not (Jam) I took a rest day today! I had a meeting all afternoon for a local adoption group that I participate with. Between that and spending time with the kiddos I just decided a rest day was in order. I did manage a few minutes shopping on the way to the meeting and had too much fun trying on clothes in smaller sizes...THAT FIT! last night I was getting dressed for a dinner out and realized I only have 2-3 pair of pants that fit right now. The rest are all in a big donate pile on the floor of my closet.
Food wasn't stellar this weekend, but I was within my calories. I'm a little nervous to see what the scale says in the morning. A part of me just wants to stay off it until Friday. I used to weigh once a week on Fridays and somewhere along the way started doing it daily. Still not sure which I like better.
This Saturday my brother, SIL, 23yo nephew and 12yo niece are flying up from FL to visit us for a week. I can't wait! I haven't seen them since June...I weighed 100 pounds more last time they saw me! They are pretty much the only family I have and we all get along great! My brother and I plan on hitting the gym together pretty much everyday. Two of the days we are going to NYC and there will be plenty of walking. This week I'll be running around like crazy getting ready.
It's getting late so I'm going to stop babbling for now. Sorry, no personals tonight, but I hope you are all doing well!!!
I have been sick alot lately and am back up to 248 but I am determined to get back on track. My boyfriend has decided to start eating better with me.We have been doing pretty good for the last couple of days.He bought a bike the other day and we plan on riding after the rain stops,we have been walking almost everyday.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day, keep up the good work.

Chubs, no worries. It took me multiple tries to find a plan that worked for me, meaning I could stick to it every day. You'll know your path when you find it.
I'm trying to psych myself up to go for the gusto with the no sugar thing, and quit being such a da(nged) sissy. I'm sure it would give this fat the boot at a faster pace, but it's been hard to think of a good enough reason to speed things along. I'm thinking that this quest for a pull-up could be the key for me, though. I want the pull-up in a bad way, but the extra pounds and not enough upper body strength are holding me back, big time! I'm also stressing a little, because I know it's time for me to make good on my promise to quit smoking this year. My brilliant plan to taper off didn't work. I'm thinking I should just kick the sugar/tea and the smokes at once, since they're tied together in my mind and years of habit (tea and a smoke, that's been my combo for years, and I hate it having that much of a hold on me, KWIM?). Anyway, talk is cheap, so I won't go on about it, but that's just what's on my mind lately, trying to get my nerve up to just go for it.
Barb! Great to hear from you. Love the new pic, you're shrinking again, plus the boy is cute! Have fun with the family visit! I know what you're saying about clothes, or the lack there of. My current shortage is sweat pants. I only bought one pair, because normally I only needed them one day a week for deadlifts. With the crossfit class, though, I never know what we're doing, but often we're running outside, and I keep expecting deadlifts to come up again with more weight, so I just keep washing my one pair of sweats that fit and wearing those every class.
Oakey, I'm glad your dh is supporting you. Sounds like you're doing great!
jamsk8r - Thank you for the nice comment. My husband tries to help but there are many times he tries to derail me. He loves going out to eat and is always trying to talk me into it. Last night he wanted to go out to eat but I stood my ground and we compromised on Spaghetti. Not the best but I loaded the plate with veggies and only 3/4 cup of whole grain noodles. Good luck in quitting smoking and giving up sugar. I think it would be easier to do them together than to do it separately.
Chubs, I agree with jams to keep trying and you will eventually find what works for you. Don't be afraid to try new things and to push yourself.
Barb, have a great time with the family visit. I also have found myself weighing daily. Even though I weigh daily I don't usually let the daily fluxuations bother me and really only count the weekly numbers. I also totally understand the clothes thing. I had a variety of clothes in my closet ranging from size 24 - 30 and wore most of them until I hit size 18 then I finally got a few pairs of pants. I don't want to get more since the way things are going they will be way to big in a few months so I find myself doing laundry all the time. By the way right now I am size 16 and those are starting to get loose also but 14 is still a little too tight. It is so exciting to know you fit into a smaller size every single time it happens. Celebrate every little victory.
Yesterday was a good day for me. I stayed within my calorie range. I also made it to the gym last night and the treadmills were all full so I rode the bike before my class. My trainer ended up running late so I rode the bike for 35 min and was quite sore by the time we started class. He did make it up by extending my time longer so I still got a full hour in. We did a little bit of everything last night - upper & lower body, core & running. Plus he had me do a lot of new things like jump squats and jump lunges (which are really hard). We normally change things up all the time but he is really focusing on making changes so I get through this plateau. He also wants me to focus on distance jogging/running instead of incline walking. I think that will be really hard but I will push myself to do it. So far I have followed his advice and it has worked so I will continue to do so. By the way it is still TOM but this morning I was down to 191.2 . I know I can hit the 190 mark by Saturday to meet my goal of losing 100 lbs by my birthday. My mom is taking me out to dinner tonight so I will have to be careful today with what I eat.
I've been MIA. Weekends do that to me. LOL. Well I lost .5 last week, but it's okay cuz I had an overall good week. Made killer money. Caught up on bills. Got TWILIGHT and some cool TWILIGHT stuff. Had a fun weekend. Lost inches and a bit of weight. So I'm okay with my small loss. Plus I did cheat a lot this weekend so I'm happy with any loss! LOL
Popping in to say hi to my CC Friends! How's life treating everyone? All is good and busy here. Just trying to get tons of work done at work and home in prep for the family visit. Also still having bedtime issues with the 3yo. We are trying to get daycare to shorten his nap. Right now he's upstairs playing and I figure he'll eventually pass out. On top of that we are now in major potty training mode. Good times.
Jamma - You are not a sissy. You can do this. Smokes and sugar BE GONE!
Oak - Hope you had a good dinner tonight. Happy early Birthday!
Nicki - Any loss is a good loss. You are doing great! Keep it up!
Where's FB? Hmmmm....I hear she's resting. Must be eating the Easter Reeses that Jam sent her.
I just did ZUMBA tonight!!! So excited! I've been dying to take it. It was so much fun. Then I came home and after laid DD down I did 30DS Week 2 Day 2!!! Whew! But I was lazy the past few days so I needed some butt kicking!
I signed up to take the Praxis II to begin my journey on earning a teaching certificate. It was a big step for me cuz I'm so afraid of failure!
DD needs surgery Tonsils and adnoids (sp?) removed and tubes in her ears. I'm so scared about it. It's a month away.....
Nicki- Hope you DD's surgery goes well. Glad that you had fun at Zumba!! I think I am going to hit both classes tonight since I have been sick most of the week!!
Barb- Love the new pic, so cute!!
Well I just thought I would drop in for a qucik Hello! I have to go pick up my DS's mess!! Boys are soooo messy! Have a great day eveyone!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I just finished up my training session. I bailed on the extra cardio today. Bad girl. I was whooped and couldn't stop thinking about everything I need to do at work and home. Of course...here I am on 3FC.
Thank you for the compliments on the new pic. My hubby was taking my "100 pounds gone pics" and my 3yo was hamming it up.

Hey ladies!
Barb, I forgot to say I was shocked that you took an actual rest day on purpose! I've had 3 the past 3 days, one on purpose, two more because I tweaked something in my right shoulder last time I was at crossfit class, trying to do those stinking kipping pull-ups. I'm trying to rest it as much as possible before my next class. I know I can make the changes I need to (with diet and the smoking), but I'm feeling whiney and bratty about it. It's my LAST holdout to bad habits, if that makes sense, so it's like jumping off a cliff...then I'll just be all goody two shoes with no "cool" bad habits at all. I'll have to get a tattoo or go all biker chick with the wardrobe to compensate, lol. Hope the boy sleeps better tonight!
Nicki, so glad you killed it on the tips this past weekend! Servers totally work their tails off, so I'm glad you had a good couple of shifts. Kids are resilient...try not to stress too much while you're waiting. She'll be feeling good when the surgery is over!
Oakey, I understand about the eating out thing. I'm just now learning to find some foods in restaurants that fit with my plan.
Angel, glad you're feeling up to working out again. You must be on the mend!
As for me, not much going on today. I've been spending a lot of time on the computer, reading up on the evils of sugar, dairy, caffeine, etc as far as insulin spikes, so I can get myself jazzed up to get off all this crap. I'm not beating myself up about it, but looking at how "clean" my diet already is, I feel like these are the only things left that can possibly be holding me back on the weight loss. I know I could lose more just cutting the cals back a bit (they were too low, now are sitting about maintenance level), but I'm also thinking of health benefits here, and know it would be best, with a history of type 2 diabetes in the family, heart disease, and who knows what else, to just get off these insulin spiking foods and eat the best way I can. As soon as I get over being whiney about it, I'll be able to do it, I'm sure. I'm getting close, just stretching out the "goodbyes", KWIM?
