Rosey, sounds like you had a great time with Tyler. Enjoy the return of your hunters.
Freda, I have a Mac and don’t have anti-virus. I would never own a Windows machine without anti-virus protection. I work in technology and all my work computers have protection. Do not listen to the computer person… You should see how many viruses protection catches (I have access to the depts. administration of the antivirus protection).
Lyn, what a great way to spend the day. Swimming and reading a book. I think I’ll copy you today but I will use my pool instead of a lake. Lakes around here are still frigid from mountain snowpack melt off.
Zoë, LOL at the “I've never let some silly thing like feeling full stop me from eating every last one”. You’ve described me to a T! Also there has to be a different BP med that won’t make you exhausted. That side effect is detrimental to quality of life. OMG, I love the beach pictures!!! The last reminds me today I will paint my toenails. I will get bright pink toenails today. I will!
I’m making sourdough pizza today for dinner. (I’m obsessive about homemade everything since I’m deathly allergic to soy and peanuts). I fed the sourdough starter and have the marinara made (canned it last weekend) and the cheese thawing (I buy at Costco and seal-a-meal weighed portion sizes). Each piece of my pizza is ~200 calories. My indoor tomato plants have three ripe cherry tomatoes (1st of the year) and so I’ll have a yummy salad with the slice of pizza. Beyond that, another lazy day. I love lazy days. We hiked with the doggies already and will later swim. It is a “non exercise” day as I don’t do the “real” aerobic exercise that pushes my legs and lungs. As I said, I love lazy days!!!!! Marie
I am still not feeling very well today but I did my whole workout this morning. I will be on the phone to the Dr in the morning.
Yesterday I took gs to a softball game and then he swam in his kiddie pool while I read a book. It was a nice day. Today it is raining and dreary. Yuk! Tonight we are going to a favorite eatery with my parents and I fully intend to eat my favorite fried shrimp dinner. I will be better tomorrow - I promise!
Seriously, one of the posts on another thread, said, "life happens". I so agree with that. Everyone asks me what kind of "diet" I am on and I really don't consider it a diet. A diet is something that I can stop when I reach my goal. I fully intend to eat this way for the rest of my life, including fathers day dinners with my Dad at our favorite place.
Marie, your "lazy days" are amazing! Your lifestyle sounds wonderful. I loved the killer whale pictures.
Zoe, hopefully the doc changes your bp medication so you feel better. "tired" is not a good feeling. Enjoy the lake.
Rosey, your gs sounds terrific. Enjoy the return of the hunters and have a good father's day.
Lyn, nice to hear from you. I like the idea of tracking excercise. It motivates me, also. Talk to you soon.
Freda, I would never operate my computer without the antivirus. I have caught a couple, anyway, but it would be worse.
Karen3, Hang in there darlin. I hope you can feel the Golden Girls all pulling for you!
Hey meds make the screen jump and slid. Seasick and dizzy and 1st thing nurse askes is hows the apppetite....ballllahhhhhh...Did some one get the number of the truck who hit me.....k3
Hello everyone! I just got a message from Jess1-- She says, "I needs a new power source for my modem, so my copmuter is out of commision until I get a new one. 3FC should not worry that I'm AWOL! I'm using my neighbors computer for this, but I don't want to abuse their hospitality!"
Just thought that I would pass that one... getting ready to go to a cookout at my Aunts--my cousin came in from Colorado last night so we should have a good time!!
Oh, KarenFL, so sorry for what you have/are going through! Hope the meds ease the pain at least but know they can make you miserable too. I have heard after heart surgery described just as you have ...like a truck hit you..and feeling totally wiped out! I hope you will feel better soon.
Rie - Hope the doc will find out whats going on with you soon. I admire you for your continuing to exercise despite feeling poorly. I hope you can enjoy the shrimp dinner with your dad.
I didn't go to church this morning because my leg hurt all night and I knew the sitting would kill me. I'd probably have to get out and hang out in the family room (a large outer room outside the sanctuary where you can still watch and hear the service on monitors), so decided to just stay home. I can always stream the service from the website. But I eventually got out of bed and walked around and feel better as long as I don't sit too long. We plan to eat out when dh gets home. He always chooses this buffet which has a great salad bar and I am learning to control the other foods but it still is hard but I will try (again!). At least since it's a buffet I won't be sitting all the time.
Marie - your pizza and salad sound good! GFY, having indoor tomatoes! Never thought to do that. Wonder if they would grow up here in the NW?
Zoe - I'm the same with sweets. I THINK I'm beginning to get better but still don't really trust myself esp if it's something I really like.
Lyn - admire your swimming! I do think it helps to track everything too.
Freda - I always make sure I have a anti-virus program and it has caught viruses in the past a few times. You do have to keep the program up to date as new viruses come up all the time. Some very smart people waste a lot of their brains on causing trouble for other people, don't they?!!
Marie - the weight loss didn't last long but I am back on track with my eating for the most part and it is beginning to drop again.
well better go get ready for going out to eat. Dh should be home soon.
Hi everyone. well my hunters called and decided to stay an extra day. so will be here this aftnoon.its rainy today so im sure they will be cold and wet. Tyler and i finished our mexican train dominos tourney,im not he winner. he took pictures of this historic event which im sharing he staged it well dont u think Happy fathers day to all our partners. Karen3 hang in there sweetie it will get better(((hugs gentley)))hoping your day is awsome rosey
Just a quick note - love the photos of the beach, Z, and Rosie you look great. The big 100 is right around the corner! KarenFl - looking forward to having you back from the med ozone. I bet it's frustrating, but glad you're ok.
Well, we went out to eat...a buffet..ugh...and I think I did pretty well!! I'm pretty sure I went over on carbs but with only 3 carbs (15 g each) allowed a meal I'm likely to at a restaurant. They have a great salad bar and I made sure to add some broccoli for the fiber. And although it doesn't really matter with diabetes (can't carry over carbs) but I feel better knowing that I had a light breakfast. I won't even think about all the fat they put into everything ...even veggies of course!!
After we ate we went to Kohls and I bought some new earrings and some scatter rugs for the house and dh got some new jeans. He also got some sneakers yesterday and I surprised him with a "grandpa" T-shirt that I got personalized with the names of all his gks. So far two of the kids have wished him Happy Fathers Day and hopefully the other two will think of it before the day is over. All in all I think he had a pretty good day.
Rosey - I couldn't see the picture...I seem to be having trouble with all the pics posted lately for some reason. Glad you had a nice time with your gs.
Just want to drop in for a quick note. Had a nice time with my folks and I enjoyed dinner. My dad was telling me that he had 89 hours of OVERTIME on his last check (for two weeks work) he was complaining about how much they took out in taxes. A 75, that's pretty good! Gotta love those old farmers.
Karenfl. I am so glad to see you able to post. We miss you. Hopefully, you won't need the meds for too long. I know they make a person woozy. We will all hunt down that truck for you.
Rosey, I loved the pictures. Your gs is a little cutie and obviously a character. The best kind.
Mary, did I miss something? What's wrong with your leg? I remember that you were having muscle cramps. Sorry. Hope that you feel better. Actually, it sounds like you did well at the buffet. You might be surprised. BTW do you just test in the morning or after meals?
Karen31 thanks for letting us know about Donna. We all would get a little excited after what has happened recently. I hope that you enjoyed your visit.
Lynn, good luck with the computer. You have some kind of mechanical disruptive aura lately. Be careful! LOL
Lyn, have a good night.
I hope Gayle enjoyed the beach.
Everyone else, and anyone I missed. TTL, tomorrow.
Rie - I test whenever I think about it if the time is appropriate...try to do a different time each day and do it more than once only if it's high. I wish I could test before and after every meal, but Medicare only pays for one strip a day. About my leg...this is different from the cramps and is chronic thing...doctor thinks it is nerve pain and says I'll probably just have to live with it and he is not sure whether it is diabetes related. My A1C although creeping up is still pretty good. My highest was 7 but that was when I'd had a UTI. My leg hurts more when I sit too long so I try to keep moving. Despite all this I shouldn't complain as I am still in pretty good shape...for the shape I'm in, as they say.. Sounds like your dad is still going strong! Funny, your dad is only one year younger than my dh!
....Tuesday morning my sister and I leave for Asheville, NC. ....
Lynn, if you get a chance, stop in for a bite at Tupelo Honey, a restaurant downtown which is known for it's "farm to table" freshness. Also, the Cellar Door is great for dinner! Have fun!
Worked the weekend and now i'm ok untill Friday. Lots to do to "ketchup". But it's always there waiting and I'll get to it when I get to it. Can't take the mess so I'll straighten up and then clean up. Kids were here last night when I got home from work. They made dinner and then went to the park to play baseball. I'm glad it's staying light longer, we got to play for awhile. The kids made DH cards and they were so cute. DGD made a huge poster with drawings of all the things she and papa did together: riding bikes, playing ball, reading. It was so cute. And instead of cake, she made him a giant cookie and we decorated it.
Is this the season for computers to fall apart? 3 of us so far. Can I ask all of you what virus protection you use? I think I'll go for the safety and install one.
Karen, Sorry you're still feeling woosey from the medication. Hope you feel better soon. So glad to see you back.
Mary, Hope your leg feels better soon. I have that back nerve pain from time to time and I can't sit for very long at all. It keeps me from serving on a lot of commitees at work, where they sit and discuss for hours. And never do anything. Sounds like you did pretty good at the buffet. If there is a salad bar I'm always ok. BUT, I do take my own dressing. My DIL worked in a big restaurant chain for a long time and she said if they ran out of the light dressing they just put the regular in and labeled it light. And you can mess up a really good salad with the wrong dressing.
Rie, I hope you're feeling better, and if not, get into see a Dr. soon. I actually don't like most of them, but they are a necessary evil! I admire you for still exercising in spite of feeling bad. You are very determined!
Marie, Thanks for the information about the anti-virus protection. I'm going shopping today. Fresh tomatoes? My mouth is watering! I have several plants outside and they are looking good. Little tomatoes already but it will still be some time before i'm enjoying a tomato sandwitch.
Z, love your beach pictures. The twinnies are getting so big and are so cute. Double the fun! If your BP meds continue to make you tired you need to see the Dr. about changing then. One of the main reasons that people have problems is because they stop taking medications because of the side effects. Love the toe colors. I have a french maincure right now but am longing for some color. Maybe a bright coral?
Lynn, These computers! have a good time on your vacation.
Rosie, Aren't grands the best?
Karen31, Thanks for passing on the information about Donna. Seems a lot of us are having puter problems. Have you started back on your WII or just doing the pool exercises? Think I would save the WII for cold rainey days and get my exercise in the pool.
It was a nice time at the beach on Saturday. Weather was nice, water temperature was nice. Little kids and big kids all had a good time
Corbin took along fishing stuff (they walk right out into the water and fish) and caught some fish. Maddie built sand castles and found seashells.
Back to reality now. Sunday was kind of a bittersweet day. Sara and Maddie spent most of Saturday and Sunday here. Sara not wanting to go home and deal with her husband. They are struggling again ~ don't know if they will get through it this time or not. They had seperated before and got back together. I guess at the time it was meant to be ~ we wouldn't have Maddie now if they had not gotten back together.
I seem to remember one of you other ladies here (sorta of sticks in my mind it was Bobbi) who has a SIL you weren't thrilled with.
It makes my heart ache for my daughter to be going through this hard time. And for the kids ~ they over hear the yelling and fighting. Maddie probably doesn't understand exactly what is going on, but can feel the tension. Corbin is old enough to understand what he hears. Robert (SIL) can be nice, but there is often times this undercurrent of tension and you feel like you are walking on egg shells ~ never knowing when things are going to errupt.
Friday was another one of those awful days at work. Most of the day was ok until the last part of the day. We were short of help ~ the regular nurse hurt her back and went to the ER and never came back. That left an orientee (then without her preceptor) and two float nurses. One of the float nurses took the orientee under her wing, but that was hard because the nurse had her own group of patients as well as having to be responsible for the orientee's group as well. A couple discharges and of course they were chomping at the bit to fill the beds. The admission process on our floor is different than other floors because of Medicare. So, the float nurses didn't know exactly how to do that ~ and were asking me. I knew some what how to do things, but while I was trying to help them, my stack of charts to process kept getting taller and taller. Despite my little rule to not stay late on the last evening of my stretch of days (I have set that aside as my family time) I felt so bad for my coworkers that I went ahead and stayed. Left 3 hours after I was supposed to.
I am afraid that if I stick to my guns and not stay on that last night that I will get in trouble and lose my job. I have said I would stay if need be on most nights. But of course the way things seem to turn out, those situations that cause me to stay late don't seem to happen when I could stay. They happen when I want/need to leave.
Ok, enough of that. Gotta do some more getting ready for work. Hope you all have a great day.
Good Morning! Thought that I would pop in this morning for a quick hello! I have to get moving this morning and get some housework done and also need to clean up the pool. We had lots of wind the other night and I got lots lof leaves and "Stuff" in it. I got that cleaned up but there is something in the bottom that I think is a "black algae" (Tim doesn't) I vacuum it up but it is back the next day and in the same place. So I need to get something for that. I'm not exactly sure what but I want it gone! Haven't been able to be in the pool much yet this year. It has been getting down to about 78* overnight and then if the sun isn't out it doesn't warm up enough to get in. But we should start getting over this rainy type weather now and it will get HOT again!
Freda--I have McAfee on my computer but only because I get it free with my AT&T internet. If it wasn't for that I would use either AVG or AVAST --they have free versions for both and I have heard from several computer people that they are very good. Also I know several friends that have it on their computers and they swear by it! There is another one out there too-- I think it is "pandora" or something like that, my friend in Colorado uses it and the guy who fixed her computer says it is the best. I don't know of anyone else who has used that one and I hadn't heard of it until she told me.
Well, better get going here.. Hello to everyone and I enjoy reading the posts and I really will get back to everyone as soon as I can. Just know that each and everyone of you are important!
