Just a quick stop in here as I head out for the evening.

Nancy, actually, I was hoping I would see a post from KarenFl. I also hope that she is ok.

Couple quick personals to hit the hightlights:

Rosey, too much fun! For what it is worth, nuetregena dry sport spray is the best sunscreen and really easy to apply. I have lupus and I need to be really careful about the sun so I researched it. Keep having fun.

Marie, good job about resisting the coffee. More later.

Lynn, oh, scary with the lightbulb and water. Enjoy your evening.

Gale, glad you made it to the day off. Enjoy!

I miss french fries, too....

Debbie, girl time, how wonderful! Enjoy.

Sherry, Glad that you are getting some rest but be careful of the sun!

I want to share a NSV with all of you. The other day I bought a swimsuit for my vacation in July. (I've only bought two in the last 25 years and that was this year.) So, I didn't try it on but I thought it "looked" like it would fit me. I got it home and was dismayed to find that I bought a size 14. NO WAY! Today I decided to try it on and it ...... FITS! In fact, it will be too loose soon! Wow. I know that a 14 is not a happy size but last fall I was a 24. I am pretty tickled.

Well I am headed for one of the monthly pool tournaments that I run. My friends, pool, and a friendly little Texas Hold'Em game. Night all!

Good evening GG's,

It was a pretty nice day. Went to WW and weigh in ~ was up .8 pound. Oh well ~ I'll just keep plugging away at it.

Went on errands ~ Maddie was with us ~ she makes you just want to laugh right out loud sometimes. DH was trying on glasses, and Maddie was too and then wanting us to try them on also. She had me try one on and said ~ you look awesome (almost 4 years old). Then she tried on a pair ~ and said " I look so cool" (maybe that is 4 going on 14 ~ LOL). She was a pretty good girl for being dragged around like that. She had her moments, but she did pretty good.

DH got our swim passes for the neighborhood pools and we also went and got one for Maddie. So, after her nap, we went to the pool. I enjoyed that so much. Maddie ~ who is usually an excitement junkie (is happy when she goes up high and has her hair-a-flying) was kind of little apprehensive, but maybe that is a good thing around the water.

Rie ~ that is awesome ~ the size 14 bathing suit. Enjoy the time with your friends this evening.

Nancy ~ hope you can get caught up on your rest a little.

Sherry ~ glad you had a good time with your friends. Way to go getting right back on program.

DebbieOBX ~ enjoy your time with your friends.

Karen MO ~ hope you can find the house you want and get closer to your family.

Marie ~ enjoy your weekend.

Hedgehog ~ glad you had a nice visit with your son and DIL.

Lynn ~ glad you didn't get hurt when all that water came down on your head.

Rosey ~ looks like everyone has fun at your house ~ you're a fun grandma. How are your GS feet doing. Hope he's not in too much discomfort.

Karen FL ~ how are you doing? Hope all is well ~ let us hear from you.

Donna ~ how is the work on Granny/Mom's bathroom going? And the battle of the ants?

Mary ~ are you having a good time with your daughter and grandkids ~ hope you and your husband are feeling better.

Zoe ~ hope you are having a wonderful time at the beach.

Oh ~ that poor charge nurse last night ~ didn't leave until 11:15 pm ~ that's four hours after her shift should have ended. Grrrrrrrr at those employers.

Guess I'd better quit fooling around here. Still have a few things to do to get ready for work tomorrow. I'm sorry if I missed anyone. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Take care

Hi everyone! Our dd and the little ones have left for a while to visit some friends so thought I'd get online while i have the chance. The gc sleep in my office and my gs (4) now calls it his room, and whenever I come in to use the computer he asks me what I'm doing in his room! I am feeling better today but not quite right yet either. I have an appt with a urologist so hoping she can figure out what's going on. My dh is now on Prednisone and is doing better but still has hives...the doc said should gradually go away. I know he still is not feeling that well. But despite all this we are enjoying the kids.

Rie - congrats on the new size in swim suit! That's quite an accomplishment from 24 to 14! Esp in a swim suit...I hate buying them.

Laffalot - please sprinkle (pour!) some of that will power dust over me too! It's been really hard lately with the kids here. I haven't even been counting calories or carbs. Only took my bs once and it was high.

Hedge - Welcome!!

Glynne - I remember those times as a nurse. It's a hard job. I could never do i again.

Lynn - OMGosh...you sure have been having the "mechanical" problems recently! That must have been quite the surprise and not a good one!

Marie - My regular doc said that might be one of the possible treatments for me...a regular low-dose antibiotic, or a continuous prescription that can be taken at the first symptom, or possibly surgery. But he is leaving it up to the urologist. I really hope I don't have to have more surgery!

Good Morning, All...
Another quickie.... today is a birthday party for a former neighbor (95 years old), so I'm chauffeuring Granny/Mom. My eating has been a lost cause this week, what with daily visits with AZ brother, which include a Granny/Mom dinner... Whatever, I'll just start over tomorrow or tomorrow or tomorrow. I don't know how long my bro will be here. His little town of Greer is gone, so I don't know where he'll go.

Ah, Rosey, you do have fun with your family! I think yours is a very happy house! I love seeing the pictures!

Lynn, good grief! How much damage was done to your ceiling? I hope your neighbor's homeowner's insurance will take care of your repairs.

RieMontana, I think size 14 would be a VERY HAPPY SIZE! I haven't seen that size since about age 3 months!

KarenMO, did I miss something?????????? Are you thinking of moving?

Glynne, sorry about your work woes. The crisis mode mentality was one of the things that bothered me so much when I worked in the hospital. I need to be able to go from A to B to C in an orderly manner; chaos just confused me, and chaos was the operative word. Yes, it's good to have a job, though.

And the bathroom "assist bars" did get installed in Granny/Mom's bathroom. I haven't seen her since we finished the job, so I don't know if we messed it up or not. I'm sure I'll find out today!

The AntGod seems to have done his job well. I haven't seen any more, and I hope that the ant barrier will also help the neighbors' situations. I HATE ANTS.

Danielle, thanks for your kind words about my SamCat. He's almost 18, still pretty healthy, and he's the love/light of my life. Siamese boy cats are the BEST! Send pictures of your babies, too... There are lots of cat lovers on this site!

Jane, I always seem to ignore you, but it's not intentional. So, hello!

Everyone, hope all are well. Stay warm or cool or whatever fits... later, lovelies!

Good Morning! Yes, we are thinking of moving closer to the family over in Webb City or Joplin. Just thought that we might list the house and see if we can get our asking price and if so then we will look forward to moving into a more modern, newer home. Just kind of testing the waters for now. Got the sign put out yesterday afternoon and my neighbor called and said NO! You can't move!! I'd kind of like to have a plae with bigger bedrooms, ours our very small. But we'll just wait and see what happens next. BUT the house is really clean now!!

Need to get going and get a little bit done around here just in case.....

It seems to be the time for festivals. We have the Rose Festival going on in Portland and the parade is today. Our dd and her little ones just left to spend the day there with friends. We don't go most years any more...of course we did when we were raising the children, but while I enjoy the parade I get too tired waiting for it and it's a long parade too. While they are gone I'm going to clean house, esp the kitchen. My house is a real mess right now with kids stuff all over!

I've been looking at pictures on Facebook of people I went to high school with...it's amazing how different we all look! I wouldn't have known them if I passed them on the street as I'm sure they'd be with me too. Strange how that happens.....not only is there a festival in my home town but my class reunion is going on too. I went to the first one they had but never since as it's too far to go with no other reason but that. I've never been very interested anyway. It is fun though to see the pics on Facebook and to be in touch with some of them.

Karen31 - Our best and one of our oldest neighbors are getting ready to have a large garage sale as they are planning to move too and we really hate to see them go! It just won't be the same here without them, so I know how your neighbors must feel. I hope it works out well for you though as I do them.

My eating has not been great with the kids here but I am trying to get back on track today.

Good Morning gg's, or afternnon,

Just got back from DGD's first baseball game. First year for some of the girls and it will be fun to watch them during the season. They learn so much the first year. Soccer season has ended and Kenzie's football has finally ended, Dance recital is done. Not so much running around now, thank goodness. Not too much going on today. Shopping this afternnon. DH went to DS's house to help fix his garage door opener, so I actually have a few min. alone.

Gayle, I worked yesterday too. Day from He--. As usual. You're right, they all seem to run together anymore. It's so seldom that we have a good day. Our manager does try to call in people when we're short, but they can't always get someone. Would you come in if you knew you were going to come into a mad house? I know I get called almost every day. Don't know the answer, how to change things. Can't second guess people getting sick. It is hard to balance home and work life.

Lynn, Sorry about the problems with the leak. Be very careful. The water has probably gotten into your electrical system.

Rie, Wow girl, that is some accomplishment. I don't know anyone (well maybe a teen) who doesn't hate shopping for a bathing suit.

Nancy, I got a new pedicure and I'm enjoying my "flips" too. Helps to have a rocking color on your toes.

Sherry, Sunscreen girl!!

Debbi, enjoy your girl time. It's improtant to keep up with your friends.

Marie, You little dare devil, you!! I can just see you flying along with the dogs! Don't know if I would try it. yes I do, I would love to! I probably would break something too. It might be worth it.

hedgehog, Comgrats on getting the bathroom redone. Go ahead, show everyone!

Rosie, I can see the sunburn. Sunscreen! Looks like you're having lots of fun with the kids. How is the grandson?

Danielle, Don't worry about the spelling. I'm sure no one cares. and in case anyone does, I really can spell, I just can't type.

Z, I know you are going to be coming home soon, all tan and tested.

Donna, Yes, YUCK ants!!!

Karen, I thought you moved there to be close to your family?

Karenfl, Where are you? You didn't get hurt badly did you?

Everyone, have a good day

Freda

Hello Girls!

Back from the strawberry festival. It was nice and I had a couple of treats but I didn't get too out of control. I didn't have any strawberry shortcake. They built one that was an entire block long. I had a really lovely dark chocolate covered strawberry instead. I also enjoyed a tai satay of chicken and a little tai noodles. Guess I will be having a light supper. The good news is that we walked probably a couple of miles. I bought a really pretty ear cuff. It looks terrific.

The rest of the day will be spent with a book and a pedicure. I am watching gs tonight while son is at work and we are planning to watch Alvin and the Chipmonks. I am planning to lift weights later too.

Freda, Wow, you are one busy Mom, aren't you? I try to attend the events of my friends children whenever possible but I can't always keep up with everything. Most of my friends are much younger than me so they all have young kids.

Freda and Gayle, I think nursing is a really stressful job in so many ways. I am an administrator of a 24hour facility and the whole unpredicable census/staffing thing is so hard. I really try to do the right thing but I know sometimes busy times happen. However, it seems that hospitals are really cutting back on staff, to the bone, and it comes down on the nurses. Well, I am sure that the people who you care for are the better for your kindness.

Mary, sound like fun with those gk's! i agree with you about the parades and festivals. Sometimes it is a long event by the time that you get there and wait. I enjoy taking my mom with me. She tires easily but she sure enjoys being out among everything. She was forcefully retired from a retail job last year and she really misses the social interraction. Funny, between her and me, my son complains that we can't walk ten feet without stopping to talk to someone we know.

Karen Mo, I hope that your house sells quickly so you can get what you want. You are going to get another house with a pool, right? I can understand you neighbors dismay but I hope that you find what you want in a new house.

Donna, have fun at the birthday party. How wonderful that you enjoy spending time with granny/mom. As you can see from my note to Mary, I enjoy my Mom and I am really grateful that she is still in my life. My folks like to remind me (in a good way) of all the tangible things that they will leave to me when they are gone. I always tell them that I hope I wont find out for at least 20 more years. I had all my grandparents until they were in there mid-90's and I am hoping for the same from my folks. I guess that is a reason for me to be motivated in getting healthier and controlling my diabetes.

I am still concerned about KarenFl. I hope that she is simply off having fun and that everything is ok with her. Hoping also that Zoe comes back filled with tales of her lovely vacation.

Gayle, nice to spend the day shopping with the girls. Maddie sounds precious. I am hoping that you have a couple days of easy work to make up for the recent stress.

Diet find: I saw an ad for Wonderslim bars from dietdirect.com on this site and I checked it out. I bought a sampler. Last night I ate one of the bars - creamy peanut butter. 15 carbs and low calorie with a lot of protein. Oh my goodness. I will order more except I want to try the other products first. It really tasted like a rich, reeses peanut butter cup. i was really impressed. Looking forward to trying the other products. More on this later.

I will probably be back later. Have a good day.

Good Morning Gg's,

Just a quick good morning to you all. Got a graduation party to go to today. As you kow, I have problems with too much food to chose from. I usually do ok at restaurants and home, since I have control, but don't give me that much choice! I intend to do the best I can, fill up on salads and fruit. Wish me luck.

I'm concerned about karen too. Now is a good time to remind everyone that we gave phone numbers and addresses so that we could get in touch with people if they came up missing. Now would be a good time to add yours to the list. I can't remember how we did it, but I'm sure some of the other know, so we could keep it private but available in case something happened, so we could make sure everything was ok. We did this when we lost contact with Isabella. Still miss her and wonder what happened

Good Morning. It is kind of cool for here this morning only 69* and a little drizzly! We're getting ready to go to church and then will probably meet family for lunch.

Freda, we did move back here to be closer to the family but we are thinking that we would rather be over in the town they are in and maybe find a newer more modern house. We are pretty happy here but there is a lot of TLC that needs to be done on the house. So if we can sell and find something a little nicer than I think we will.

Rie--we are looking at all possiblilties right now. If we are able to find one with a pool already there that would be nice, but if not we can always get an above ground pool. I do like having a pool. We've even thought that it might be nice to get a hot tub---have it nice and warm in the winter and cool in the summer! Dual purpose! For now we are open to a lot of options. And my real estate agent is my brother and my sister is also an agent in the same office so hopefully we will have some good luck one way or the other. We just kind of threw it out there and now we'll wait and see what, if anything, happens. If it doesn't sell we will still be pretty happy here.

Hello to everyone else this morning. Need to get going and get ready for church. I'll get back and try to do personals this afternoon or evening. Have a GREAT SUNDAY!!!

Laffalot, I hope the sunburn is better. I’ve fallen asleep in the sun just because if feels so darn good to have that heat penetrate the body.

Rie, thanks for the sunscreen recommendation. I’ve used Neutrogena Dry lotion but I’d really like a spray so my hands don’t have to rub it in. I hate the feel of sunscreen on my palms. WTG on the swimsuit!!!! What progress in a year. Have fun wearing it. A strawberry festival sounds fun.

Gayle, once Maddie realizes the fun of flying into a pool, she’ll be unstoppable. My DGS last year (was 4 yo) was apprehensive for a few trips to our pool. By August he was literally flying off the diving board. It was awesome.

Mary, I don’t know if they still have macrodantin (sp?) but it is an antibiotic that is only targeted for the urinary tract system and that’s what I took for 6 months, low dose. I thank my stars I did that because it really made the UTIs disappear for good and it didn’t affect any other part of my body. And no yeast infection.

Freda, I love my flipflop Birks (I have many) and when I was wearing a pair the other day, I looked at my naked toenails and decided bright pink would look cute. So today I’m going to give myself a pedicure. And the dog scooting is fun but Sasha can be a bit scary because she’s easily distracted and I live where there are herds and herds of black tail deer. She sees them and veers off the road. Kai (my lead dog) fights to keep her on track but Sasha is strong. Kai and I are going alone today so we both have a safer trip.
This is a pic of me, Sasha (left) and Kai (right) on the road in front of my house.

Karen, I hope your house sells if you really want to move. You’d miss your pool though… But there’s always houses with pools or you can put another in. Eeks – I never want to do that again.

I’m having a wonderfully quiet weekend since DH has guard weekend. The doggies are in utopia as they can spend the day lounging with me. I took all four dogs for their walk yesterday and today by myself. DH and I usually do it together. Sasha tried making my arm a couple inches longer yesterday since she wouldn’t stop pulling but today she was angelic. She’s my rescue husky and has some interesting traits. Her desire to yank arms from their shoulder blades isn’t one but she’s the sweetest girl. Amazing since she’d been abused.

Marie

Good Morning, Everyone,

Today is my DD's marathon at Lake Placid - very high mountains. I should hear from her by 2 if she is able to finish within the allowed time - she's worried about the mountains. Keep your fingers crossed for her. She has been training for 12 weeks, but we don't have any mountains around us - just some hills.

Nothing planned for today - lots of housekeeping stuff for me to do.

Have a great Sunday,

Lynn

Good Morning!

I woke up early this morning, despite the fact that I didn't have too. What is up with the internal alarm clock??? Is that an age thing? I guess it is a good thing health wise because I am tired at a reasonable time at night and up at a reasonable time in the morning. However, I miss out on that wonderful "stay up half the night" and sleep in on the weekends thing that I used to enjoy in my younger days. Bah....

I did a 65 minute aerobic routine (plus stretch time) with no problem and I felt pretty good. When I first woke up, I was tempted to just head for the couch with my coffee. I got my workout clothes on and did the workout. I am glad that I did. I always feel so much stronger after I am done!

I had the wonderslim apples and cinnamon oatmeal this morning and it was really good. The portion was a little small but it was satisfying. Maybe because it has lots of protein.

BBL for personals.

Home!!!! Wow. What a great week we had! Sunshine every single day, but none of the excessive heat and humidity, because we were right at the beach, and had that ocean breeze blowing all the time. Oh, and yes, yours truly is well tanned up again after looking all winter long like the underside of a fish's belly. (grayish-green, for those who haven't seen a fish's belly up close) The house was extraordinary - huge and with every possible amenity. My kids are amazing. I feel very loved and pampered. My dd2 and her son - and dd3's husband stayed from Friday night through Sunday night, my son & his fiancee stayed through until Monday night, and my dd3 and the twinnies stayed through Wednesday with us. Then it was just dh & I through Saturday morning. We spent the better part of every day at the beach, and I'll try to post a few pictures...I was able to change my avatar last night, but then lost our internet connection. It's been on again-off again since all those storms here in MA on the 1st of the month. They've had techs from the cable company out here a bunch of times - dh even had to come home from the beach Monday & Tuesday to meet them - but it's still messed up. I'm typing this in WORD and will copy & paste to the GGs so long as the internet stays up. If not, you'll be seeing this a little later. Oh, we all had such a great time together, and the twinnies really loved it...learned a new word... BEACH ... and woke up every morning hollering for their bathing suits and getting half-way out the door until somebody grabbed them back and got a little breakfast into them and some sun block onto them.
I've been trying to get caught up with all the posts...where is Karen3????? (Lynn, do you have her contact info?)
Also see that we have some newbies....welcome Marie, DebbieOBX, Danielle and Hedgehog...!!!!
Good for you with the working out, Rie. We took our bikes to the beach with us and got in a few good rides. I'm feeling awfully fatigued lately, though...my doctor upped my BP meds the last time I saw him (on June 3rd, just before we left for the beach) and one of the side effects is fatigue and a dry cough. Oh, joy. I really don't need either one, now, do I?
Lynn, your daughter is amazing. I know how proud you are of her - and of course the truth of the matter is that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, now, does it?
Marie, what a great job you've done of losing that weight! Really impressive - and I'm LOVING the pic of you with your dogs!
Moving again, Karen31? Oh, Lordie. You know, I think we're probably going to move once more - when I retire - too, and I am NOT looking forward to it one little bit!
Freda, balancing home & work life has always been a juggling act for me, and I expected that once my kiddos were all grown, that would change. It didn't, of course, because now we have the grandkiddos to add to the equation, as well. I guess the older you get, the wider your circle becomes, and you just have to adjust yourself to having more, rather than fewer people to care about. It's kind of nice, isn't it?
PT, I'm with you on the difficulties in maintaining ourselves OP when there are so many family events and such going on. In fact, I have to confess that my diet deteriorated terribly down at the beach. All I can say is that I start back with a vengeance tomorrow!
Rosey, such fun pictures! Warms the cockles of me heart, it does!
Mary, I'm so sorry that you and your dh have been under the weather! And you're right, when you're not feeling well, it does make you feel old - and in my case, worn out. I hope you're both feeling better today.
Nancy, I think you are entitled to that one night out with your SO - and that he needs to take the initiative to see to it that you get it! After all, it's HIS offspring who's interfering! Just remind him that we DO drive down to my sis's once a year, and that I can easily stop in and kick his butt if necessary!
Gayle, I like your idea about carrying cards to remind yourself to make healthy choices. I may have to do something like that, myself, in order to get back on track. My cards might have to be awfully BIG, though...like maybe poster-sized???? (Maybe I could hang them up in my office?) I already have a picture of how I DON'T want to look on my refrigerator door with the word "CHOICES" beneath it. So far, it sometimes works, other times, not so much.
