Had a good time at the luncheon yesterday. Met with nephue and his girlfriend and her family. We met at a burger place and I did quite well. They brought a bread basket to the table and everyone was raving over the rolls. I was able to resist. Ordered my salad and light dressing on the side. They do make great salads so I didn't feel envious of everyone elses burgers at all. The storm took down a large limb from the tree on the side of our house. Didn't even notice it at first but it's hanging down into my lilac bush. It will have to be cut down this weekend. I'm just happy it wasn't one that was over the roof. More rain today.
Rie, thank goodness for meds! I hope they are keeping you pain free. If you have to have the MRI ask for a valum before. Unless you have no problems with close places. I do! I would have been climbing out of that machine without one. Feel better.
Mary, good luck with selling the rig. And if it doesn't sell, maybe it's a sign that you really aren't ready to quit yet.
Marie, I LOVE the Stephanie Plumb books too. We even took a survey here to see who we thought should play whom in the movie. I have heard that one will be coming out this summer. None of our picks were chosen, but they would have been perfect. Not so sure about their choices, but I can't wait for the movie to come out. I don't go to the movies often but that is one I'll be the first in line for.
Donna, Glad to see you back. Aren't computer problems the worst? Yeah, I got my fixed pretty quickly. Found a guy just a block from my house that was quite reasonable. thanks for the advice on programs. The 2 are free and you just download them? I know you must be so relieved to hear that your brothers house was ok. I hope granny/mom is doing ok.
Rosie, are you out picking out those diamond earrings?
Gayle, I hope you enjoy your days off. things will settle down at work. That is what I keep telling myself anyway. I am working today, or actually this afternoon for 4 hours, for a friend that needed the day off. I hope I don't live to regreat it. They called me yesterday to come in, but of course I wasn't home. I would guess a lot of admissions so maybe today will be ok. Hang in. I hope your son is ok. Try to make him take care of his arm. I know how hard it is to tell kids to do anything. We hurt when the kids hurt.

My 2 work clients cancelled for today so I am free. I made myself go to the gym (haven't been in over a week) and i feel really good now.
Rainy here for the next few days, but my vegie garden looks nice and healthy. Snap peas by next week I think.
No time for personals - but I do love reading all of your posts. Loved the photo of the back dive, marie. i used to be able to do those in a former life...(like teenaged years!). Rosie - can't wiat to see those diamond ear rings when you get to 100. Hope you feel better soon, Rie. Hi to everyone else!!
Hola, my gg lovelies! Marie, I've read (voraciously) the Stephanie Plum books and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Trust me, they are fiction!!! Yes, there's a movie coming out in July, and I'm afraid it's going to be awful. Debbie Reynolds is cast as Granny and Katherine Heigl is Stephanie. I can't fathom either one! And the men don't do it for me, either. Sherry Sheperd (spelling?) is Lulu, and she should be terrific. However, I'll be there, $20 bill in hand, at a matinee, waiting to see what they've done! There are several Plum-ers in this group!
Lynn, I read Tana French's book that you recommended and very much enjoyed it. Thanks!
Baked some chicken, made some pico de gallo, read a little, piddled and pooped around a little... It's NICE!
Hope you're all having a good one! KarenFL, doing okay?
KarenMO, did you sell your house? Hope your son's hand is okay!!!
Hi everyone..sunny today and dh is getting ready to spray the deck. this is the 3rd day that we went shopping in town, thats arecord for me and i loved it. we went looking for plants for my planters..sheeesh they were so expensive im forgoing the flowers this yr and will enjoy the wild ones instead. cindy,i make a sugr free fat free mocha bean frost or similar with frozen fruit in my blizzard(small blender). i use crushed ice.water,1T sf vanilla coffeemate,1 pkg of diet hot choc,1T instant coffee.blend well and add a squirt of lite whipping cream. ive also used the same minus the choc and coffee. and added 1 pk of splenda and 1/2 cup frozen fruit. i made a dark cherry one for lunch and loved it. maybe that would take the place of ice cream.hope you all have agreat day rosey
Rie, I hope the stone passes on its own. I'm in the mood to whack the fill-in doctor you went to last week. I'm sorry you're going through this.I did have the frap and it was yummy, yummy. I pretty much blew yesterday's calories but only by the 170 calories. I goof of that isn't enough for me to get worried about. I'm right on target today. And the frap was worth every calorie.
Gayle I hope your family frustrations/concerns melt away today.
Freda, who do you think should play Morelli and Ranger? I've never thought about it. I have an image of both in my mind and I don't know if an actor could fit my fantasies about Ranger. I was listening on my way to work and I was laughing so hard, I was having trouble breathing and tears were rolling down my face. When you get to the part (or already have read) where Lulu is driving the bus, that's where I lost it.
So Donna, who are the men cast in it. Now way does Heigl work for Stephanie. I couldn't stand her on Grey's Anatomy. But alas, I'll probably drag DH to it. But I'm a book person and I detest when movies destroy them. I agree Sherry Shepard is a good equal of my Lulu image.
Cindy, I have ice cream every night. Lost all my extra fat having ice cream every night. My tip is Dreyers/Edy's Double Churned flavors and get a good kitchen scale. I weighed what a 1/2 cup is on a good electronic food scale and got the exact amount in grams. From there I eyeball it most nights. Mostly I find my eyeball portion is smaller than the serving size when I check. I did show DH what his serving size is when he dishes my ice cream and I am no longer having 1 cup servings when he serves the ice cream. BTW, I got my food scale form Amazon for about $25 and it is awesome (except if you're chatting on the cell phone using a bluetooth earpiece - then the readings go wacky).
I must get back to work since I'm getting a little swamped. Today is pretty and I'll go swimming after work. DH found my freesyle (Crawl) mask and snorkel. The repetition of turning the head to one side hurts my neck and I wasn't doing laps again until we found it. Of course he knew just where it was. I should have asked sooner and then my neck wouldn't be sore...
Marie
Marie, did you ever watch "Rescue Me"? The guy that played Franco is cast as Ranger. I can't remember who they got for Morelli, someone less than memorable, apparently! I hope they don't screw it up too badly. My copy of the latest arrived today!
Hello everyone! Went to the gym this am for my yoga stretch class but we don't workout on the machines on Thurs. DH needs a day off in between with the aerobics as he works hard here at home most days, and I've been following the same routine. We both took naps after we got home. I don't sleep the whole time but do sleep a little. I was dreaming today that I was explaining how tired I was to a friend (haven't seen this friend in ages and in the dream she changed to being much younger)....and she was about as sympathetic as my dh. LOL Which means not very.
I'm still trying to get back on track with my housework, doing a little everyday but not accomplishing a whole lot. Realized this morning I'd left a load of laundry in the washer yesterday...the machine had stopped and it was just sitting there full of water. It's funny because last night I went out to check because I thought I'd left a load in the dryer, but there wasn't any. Never thought to check in the washer! But now have that load in the dryer and have another load in the washer. Should be about ready to reboot. Other than that I finished cleaning our bedroom, even under the bed and straightened the closet floor...I have way too many shoes, most of which I don't even wear but still don't want to get rid of them. then spent some time helping dh learn how to use his phone to post on Facebook. He really loves FB because he can communicate with with family not only in the states but also in PI, but he can't remember how to do it sometimes. He brought in lots of cauliflower, a little broccoli and lots of lettuce. The lettuce is not the kind we like (and showed on the seed packet) but we will eat it. There was also 5 radishes but these weren't as good as the others..ok inside but kinda tough on outside. Don't know why.
The guy who inquired about our RV says now he can't buy any RV. The ads run a few more days but am doubtful it will sell. We would bring the price down a bit if necessary but so far no one is interested. You're right Freda, perhaps we are just not ready to sell it. But I honestly do not want to go away for three months at time anymore. I think it's more that we love the RV itself so much and can't help but feel it's worth more. Funny how we get so attached to our possessions!
Marie - I use a food scale too...until I get crazy sometimes and don't care. But I like the idea of being able to eat whatever I want as long as I control the portions and count calories (and in my case carbs)! I do quite well at it too except for when I get into my crazy mode...this crazy mode usually starts about 7-9 pm for some reason! But I am determined to keep trying and one day I WILL overcome this craziness!
Rosey - We do like our mochas don't we?!! I have one every day...I haven't tried your recipe yet and I really should but I always forget and buy the mix at Costco out of habit. I usually cut way back on the amt of mix though and incr the milk a bit so I get more nutrition, and less carbs/calories and count it in my journal. One of these days I will try your recipe though.
Well, I've been sitting too long so better get moving again. Have a good evening!
Rie, I'm so sorry that you aren't feeling so great! Sure hope the stone passes on its own and you get back to feeing good again. Prayers headed your way.
Donna, glad to see that you are back with us. We haven't sold our house yet but have shown it alot in the past couple weeks. In fact, there are some people coming to look at it at 8:45 this morning! Sure made me get up and run around this morning to get things done! Our son was over last night and his hand is healing pretty good. He did pull a stitch yesterday while he was at work so that isn't real good. I just hope he keeps it covered good and wears gloves when he is over there working with all that rubble. So many bad germs over there. I'm glad that he is working and he is learning just what it is to have NOTHING but he has to take care of his own health too. Men are so stubborn.
Well, I know this is short but I need to get the kitchen cleaned up a bit now that Tim has finished his breakfast. Hello to everyone that I have missed and surely I will have time to get caught up with everyone in the next day or two... Maybe not---my brother is having an open house here on Sunday! Well, I am thinking of everyone and will get back to you as soon as I can.
Just popping in quick to say hi ~ will be back later.
Headed out to the Weight Watchers meeting. Then a few errands.
Son is headed to the dr for a recheck of his arm ~ it is still looking swollen and red at the elbow and sore ~ maybe a little less so. Hope he gets good news.
Daughter's husband demanded they talk last night ~ he is pulling out the pitty card and really working on her. She partly weakens (she is fed up with him and thinking about divorce) then gets aggravated because they have been this road before. He will act better for a short time until things settle down, then it is back to the same old same old.
Good Morning, All... KarenMO, good luck with the showing! Have you and Tim been looking at houses? Have you found anything you like? It's exciting that it's YOU who gets to pack and move!!
Rie, hope you feel better soon!!
Mary, what a bummer, after you've spent all that time spiffing up your RV, that he doesn't want it now. I hope you find another buyer soon or else that you and DH can take another trip soon!
Gayle, reading about your daughter's trials and tribulations with her whiney DH reinforces that I'm so glad to be without man and with cat! It brought back all sorts of not-good memories!
"MAXINE
A woman needs a man like a fish needs another fish to hang around the bowl watchin' sports and drinkin' beer all weekend."
Rosey, I heard about a large earthquake in Alaska, last night. Are you affected? The areas they mentioned meant nothing to me, so I couldn't tell if it was in your area. I hope you're okay!!!
Nancy, wither are thou?
Bobbi, Lynn, PT/Zoe, KarenFL, anyone and everyone I've missed.... hope you're well and having a lovely day! Later, my chickies.
Hey GGs,
Just wanted to stop by for a minute & check on everyone, & say Hello! (I’m still around Donna, just haven‘t felt like turning the computer on??) Still trying to get caught up on “stuff”. I need to get right back to my project of the day - cleaning out under my bed. Sort of afraid of what I might find under there! (I’m not like you Mary, I only do this when I absolutely have to.) I’ve always wanted a platform bed, & last week, at one of the thrift stores, I found one. At least I think that’s what it is, but if not, my SO will be able to make it into one. And it was only $20! So, I HAVE to get everything out from under the bed, so we can get it set-up. Guess I better get to work. Sorry I can’t stay & chat! Do have to mention - I saw Janet Evanovich on the Today Show, & I think she said the Stephanie Plum movie was coming out in January! Hope I heard her wrong. NCNancy
