Just finished a mini-workout on the Wii. I do most of the exercised on it. I love the yoga and I usually start with that. I do the running, walking, and strengthening exercises too. I have the Wii Dance program too but I have to say I'm really bad at it and I tend to not do that as much as I thought I would but it is a great aerobic workout.
I am enjoying this group a lot and I am feeling more motivated each day!
Rosey, you have a very sweet hubby. Your flowers are gorgeous. Vacuum-shmackuum - flowers trump forgetting that.
Freda, my mochas are all decaffeinated. I was addicted to the stuff and started having weird heart and arm problems a few years back. So I am decaf and sometimes that is a pain. Finding sugar free decaf drinks that aren't water is difficult.
NancyNC, I'd have to say you have a strong argument against going to a doctor. Very strong. I am sorry about your lose and I doubt it will ever lessen when it was so wrong. I tend to google Mayo Clinic's website for info before I'll succomb to going. Maybe that would give you some clues. I was also wondering if you swapped your computer chair for a different chair to see if that would help. And a fan blowing on you. I love fans. Hat AC.
Lynn, welcome back. I think its so cool you and your sister went on a trip and had fun!
Donna, do you think the St. Joseph statue would work on selling one of my Jeeps? I'm thinking it might be worth it even though I'm neither Catholic or superstitious. And I do appreciate the glossary. Very cool to have a psychic twin except when I'm having bad, evil, carnal, or devilish thoughts.
Rie, don't overdo on getting back to where you were on the exercise. How was returning to work yesterday? I love mean ole granny. My maternal grandmother was Granny and she was mild and sweet. I can't picture the title on her.
Cindy, you're doing great using your Wii often.
I had my day made today. I mean I'm doing the virtual dance of joy as I type. I have Wed and Thur off this week and learned this morning that Friday is a non-contract day for year round employees. Today is my Friday. Then I have next Mon, Tues, and Wed off as well. So if I stop playing here and work like a banshee, I'm going to take next Thur and Fri off as well. A 12 day break from the depressing environment I call my work (so many pink slips with all the cuts to education) so I will take no more breaks today and work, work, work.
Marie
Good morning GGs! It's cloudy and maybe raining little out there today. I haven't been out yet. Really enjoyed yesterday even though I didn't get much done in the house. The glass guy came to give us an estimate on the two windows we are now replacing. See, we are doing the windows a little at a time. This time it is the dining room window and the living room window and besides the patio door (which we did last fall) these are the larges windows in the house. The company that installed our new patio door has apparently gone out of business...too bad there prices were good and we liked their work. But hopefully this will work out well too even though a little more money. Someone is coming to do an exact measurement in a few days and then it will be 4-5 weeks before the actual installation is done. Slow going doing the windows like this but when you are paying cash you tend to move a little (a lot!) slower! While I was out there listening to his sales pitch, I managed to work on my roses and do some weeding then after he left I weeded for about 40 min. in the front yard. There are still a lot I didn't get ...think all the more diligent fertilizing we have done the past year is helping the weeds to grow more too! I will spray weed killer on the rest of them. Then I need to get to the back yard. I really enjoy being outside. My dh cooked dinner last night and it was a healthy meal of tilapia and veggies. I ate about 1/3 cup of rice. My weight was down today so think I did ok even though I didn't track it. For me it is almost as important to watch the timing of my eating so I don't snack too much.
Rosey - how nice that you dh brought you flowers!
Jess - thanks for the explaination! As long as I've been on here I never knew what the PT meant!
Lynn - Glad to have you back!
Nancy - I can understand how you would feel about doctors after that experience! Things have changed a lot though through the years. I find that they are much more patient and understanding ...people-friendly I guess you could call it. I feel that most of them show more respect to the patients...for instance ..my doctors know I am very independent and make my own decisions after listening to their advice. I respect their knowledge and skills but I also respect my own common sense and my own knowledge, so I pick their brains and then make my own decisions and they don't seem to have a problem with that. If they did, I'd find another doctor. I hope it is just the heat though and you can find a way to combat it by staying cool. How warm is it there now? You are in one of the Carolinas, aren't you? I know it gets very warm there! My sons were stationed in NC and we made a few trips out to visit them.
Marie - No, my dh's speech is not really affected much...he's just kinda breathy..you know kinda short of breath when he comes in or even sometimes when he moves through the house.
Well, dh is getting things done around here and making me feel lazy so I'd better get busy too. Take care, GGs and have a good day!
Hello Ladies!! I finally got around to taking some pictures of "My Woman Cave"!! The clothes that you see hanging there belong to my son....someday he will come and get them! But they aren't really in the way so guess I will just put up with it for now. It is so nice and cool down there--- LOVE IT!!
We have been thinking that maybe we shouldn't sell our house right now. It is paid for and looking around at others available I just don't know if we would be smart doing it.. Plus I'm kind of getting things done around here like we like. Like you Mary, it is a slow gradual process. One of the things that I would like to do is replace the carpet....I just hate it! But that is something else that can be lived with until we can do it.
I need to get going and get some stuff done this afternoon. I've been playing most of the morning!! I synced my Iphone and did an update and I downloaded the song "Joplin" that Doug Gabriel did Sunday night on the telethon to benefit Joplin. Gosh it was such a neat song so I splurged and paid the $0.99 to itunes to get it!! Of course, they say that 100% of the sales of this song are going to Joplin so I guess I did OK.
Rosey, loved the flowers!! You got a pretty good guy there---wouldn't trade him in just yet!!! LOL!!
Anyway, Hello to everyone else and I will get back to you later.... Have a great day!!!
Marie, how much coffee (espresso) do you use in your mocha recipe? I have some raspberry SF syrup ..think that would be ok? I don't have an espresso machine so would be using instant coffee or maybe some coffee from a K-cup.
Today I plan on getting the ingredients for both yours and Rosey's recipes. That's what kept me from it before...didn't have the ingredients.
Rosey there is a Nestle's Mocha that comes in packets like the cocoa. I tried it once and didn't care for it. But I'm going to try making yours in case it is different.
Karen31 - love your woman cave! I don't have such hot weather to deal with plus we have AC so my office is my cave I guess. I spend enough time in here! :-) For my dh it's the family room (TV) and the garage (workbench).
Well I have now got a roast in the crockpot and am heading out to the grocery store.
Mary, I use what's equal to four shots of espresso - I think 4 oz. If anyone is looking for an awesome white or chocolate mocha mix, I've been using these for months. DIL worked at a coffeeshop and she made the best hot mochas. This is the mix they used for SF mochas. I used to buy directly from the company but my sister found it cheaper at the site I linked. My recipe is for iced (Equal tastes yucky hot) and so for my hot mochas I use this stuff. BTW, these mixes tastes great iced but my recipe is $cheaper$ although the cals are about the same. And my hot ones with the mix is made with skim milk not the Almond Breeze.
Karen, I love your woman cave. Looks cozy and a place to expend energy.
Marie
Thanks Marie. I will try it. I only drink cold so I got the almond breeze. Don't think I've tried it before. I also got the cream and I got vanilla coffee creamer for Rosey's. My dh can always use it too. So I'm all set to make me some mocha! If I don't like them I can always go back to the mix I get at Costco...I figured out that it is cheaper than amazon even with a subscription! But if I use 1 oz of the mix and skim milk (it can be made without milk but not as good) it is about 2 carb servings and 150 calories. I'd like to get it down. Mostly I cut back on the mix to 1/2 oz and use 1/2 skim milk. It's ok esp if I put in a little cocoa and Splenda. If I skip the cocoa it's only about 95 calories and one carb serv, with cocoa it is still less than 150.
Ok, Rosey I made yours first. I got a little confused, sorry, so be patient with me. Here's what I did...I used SF cocoa mix, wasn't sure if I was to add a cup of water or not so I added 1/2 c water and abt 1 cup ice, then I added 1 T french vanilla creamer (I could only find french) but forgot to get SF so that's why I only used 1 T. I put in 1 T instant coffee (was it supposed to be prepared with water? I didn't) and I blended it all up and it was pretty tasty just a little coffee strong. I figure I got 90 calories and one carb serving (15 g) so not bad. If I'd used SF creamer it would have been less. I definitely have to cut back on the coffee though I do like a slightly coffee taste as that's what makes it a mocha. Will have to figure out the costs to compare with what I've been using. Can you explain exactly how you do it again, please...I want to make it the best I can.
Hi everyone.. i quiet day here.dh is wheedling me for a new 4 wheeler he has to sell his 6 wheeler first and then finance the rest. sigh big boys and their toys!! since i pay the bills he thinks im the money police im not for or against it. Karen3 - Hi there! Glad you are popping in now and then. Hope you are beginning to feel better. I'm sure it takes a while. Take care of yourself and we will look forward to hearing from you more as you feel better.
Rosey - Thanks for measuring and the details. I am going to try it again using more water and less coffee.
Taking a break and visiting you all. Have some of the getting ready to go to work stuff to do yet.

Hello to anyone I missed ~ like some of the others my memory sometimes lets me down ~ sorry.
I am tired tonight so I am just going to drop by here and then move on.
I want to share something with you: When I was diagnosed with diabetes last fall, I was such a blubbering wreck. I cried for two days and then got off my butt and figured out what to do. That was the start of my journey.....
4 months ago, My Dil called me, crying, to say that she has been diagnosed pre-diabetic. She has the disease on both sides of her family. She wasn't happy with the information that she got from her classes. She asked me for my eating plan and I sent it.
Well, every month she lets me know her progress. Tonight she sent me a joyful message that she is down 30 pounds. I am so proud of her! I guess everything happens for a reason.
On a more humorus note: OK, now you guys have done it! LOL I must now pursue the mocha situation! One of my old, nasty habits was to add choc syrup and cream to coffee. I have solved that but, seriously, the majic bullet is gonna have to come out of the cabinet for some serious mocha fraps now! Marie, ordered the chocolate before I posted It is a long summer and if I can come up with something that will work, I will enjoy.
BTW, Marie, if you can stand the calories, from a carb standpoint, you are better off with small amounts of heavy cream than skim milk. Sorry if that is wrong for your plan. I have also ordered the PB2 because I love peanut butter chocolate stuff.
I am jonesing for sweets today, I am not sure why.... I have tried to engage myself in activities but I still want something to eat. Hoping that it passes.
Feeling so tired and sleepy tonight ~ don't know why ~ but hating to give in. Two hours until my usual bedtime. I may not make it.
I am also craving stuff I shouldn't have. Chips, sweets. Good thing there aren't any here. Maybe I should go to bed early then I wouldn't think about it.
Had a pretty nice day off. Got to spend time with my son and grandson.
This morning, I spent time rescuing some pictures for Sara. Her old computer had crashed and she lost all the pictures that were on there. They weren't able to get them off. She had put some on Myspace back when it was more in use than Facebook. So, I went to her Facebook page and saved the pictures to my computer for her. I had read the other day that because people were using Facebook more and not using Myspace hardly at all anymore that they were possibly going to shut it down. So, I wanted to get those pictures off there for her in case she didn't have a chance should that really happen.
Back to work tomorrow. Three days then off the weekend.
There are all kinds of rumors flying around that our hospital is being sold, to be bought out by another hospital or something. Very unsettling. Wish they would hurry up and get it over with so we could all stop worrying and wondering.
