Pros and Cons of the 3 Day Diet

The 3 day diet dates back to the mid 1980’s and since, has not waned in popularity. There is no mention of exercise to achieve desired results, only a three day eating guide that promises to help you lose up to 10 pounds in that three day period. Once the meal plan has been completed, you are supposed to resume regular eating habits, with the option of using the three day plan again four to five days after the last time it was used. This can be done indefinitely and was designed to keep your metabolism guessing, so it’s constantly changing and burning fat at the same time.

Pros

When following the 3 day diet, you can supposedly lose up to 10 pounds, which is great for a party or a special event. This is done by using the 3 day diet menu. And since the entire three days worth of food is already laid out for you, all you have to do is grab what you need from the store and follow the plan. The also includes some treats, such as vanilla ice cream and cheddar cheese, so cravings shouldn’t be much of an issue when following the meal plan. The diet only lasts for three days, so there is no need for worrying about plateaus.

Cons

Naturally, the weight loss is going to be temporary unless you put together a similar, but more sturdy long term meal plan for yourself. In addition, the plan includes the consumption of coffee or tea so if you aren’t a fan, you might find yourself having a hard time getting through the plan. There are no specifics as to how the foods in this plan are supposed to rev up your metabolism and get your body to burn more fat, and there are no additional supporting diet plans for the 3 day diet, making this option something that might not be right for those who are seeking long term solutions.

Overall, the plan is a short term solution to weight loss that isn’t very sustainable for those looking to lead life at a healthy weight. If you are looking to change your eating habits, you should look for a more long term solution such as creating your own low fat, high protein and fiber meal plans. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your diet and you will be well on your way to a healthy lifestyle that is sustainable for good.

On the other hand, you can find plenty of viable options when it comes to weight loss plans. Consider joining a weight loss support group in your local area so you can get the support you need in person. If you prefer an online option, there are many choices that offer meal plans, online community support, food diaries, meal logs, exercise logs and more.
