That’s how much school we have left. I think I can…I think I can…. Things always look a lot better on Friday.
I got the RV cleaned and restocked yesterday evening. Little brother and his family should be arriving early this afternoon and DH and DS are going to drive the RV down to my sister’s so they can stay in it this weekend. I cleaned everything…rugs, towels, sheets, scrubbed the entire bathroom, cleaned out the closets and all the drawers, stove, refrigerator, etc…wouldn’t it be nice if we could do a deep cleaning on the house in just four hours?
After cleaning Manny, it was getting late but I managed to make a couple dozen summer rolls for today’s pot luck at school. I mentioned to some teachers that I was making them for Easter dinner and they said they sounded delicious so I decided to roll up a few for today.
After this weekend, which is going to be really busy, I need to do some serious soul searching. I feel like crap and I haven’t been eating right or exercising. Why can’t I get back into the routine? Most days, I work late, come home and deal with homework, housework, dinner, or schoolwork, flop down on the couch and watch TV for a couple of hours and then hit the bed. Speaking of TV, did anyone see that horrendous performance by Kelly Pickler on American Idol this week?
6:00 - It’s so quiet. I don’t have the house to myself very often. Actually, I don’t have it to myself right now, either, but the boys are upstairs taking a nap and DS and DH took Manny to my sister’s house a couple of hours ago. They should be gone for at least another hour. I got to put on my PJs, hook up the speakers to my laptop and watch the last two episodes of Hell’s Kitchen that I missed. There must be something wrong with the TiVo. It’s deleting shows that I tape within just a couple of days. It used to keep them for about a week. Must be some setting that’s gotten changed.
I listened, Joy and Brandi. I heard you and I’ll keep your suggestions in mind as I do my soul searching this weekend. I get to relax tomorrow and then we have to go to my sister’s for Easter. I’ve got to do something to make myself feel better and find more time.
Good thing I had to pee or I’d probably still be lying in bed. It felt soooo good snuggled under the covers this morning (except for that nagging bladder). Just chilly enough to make the prospect of getting out of bed seem very unappealing. Temps are supposed to hang around the fifties and sixties for the next five days. What’s it gonna take to get some heat around here?
Procrastinator that I am, I didn’t get the RV cleaned yesterday. I had good intentions but I didn’t get home until 6:30 and Andrew hit me up to help him with homework the minute I walked in. By the time we finished, it was after 7:00 and I didn’t feel like getting into it. That means I have to do it today because DH is taking it to my sister’s house tomorrow.
Used all my blog time hitting the snooze alarm so I’d better get moving.
DH unloaded the necessities from Manny after we got home but I need to get out there today and give him a good scrubbing. My brother, SIL and nephew are arriving Friday and want to stay in the RV for the weekend. They have a handicapped son and don’t like to stay in hotels with him and it’s difficult for them to stay with anyone so they’re delighted to use the RV. We’re going to drive it down to my sister’s Friday and they should be arriving Friday evening. Unfortunately, I need to do some housecleaning since the twins were staying in it all last week. I have a lot going on this afternoon. A long work day and then a quick dinner with Sistah Pam at Panera or Applebees. I’m hoping to get home early enough to go out there and gather all the towels and sheets and start cleaning.
Guess I should start the cleaning with myself. Off to the shower…
I was going to start out this morning by admitting that I didn’t have a perfect day yesterday by any means. Then I got to thinking about it…I ate yogurt for breakfast, refused to break down and eat crap for lunch so I went without and then came home and had a couple of lemon cookies, some strawberries, and a frozen turkey and dressing entree for dinner. I’m going to take credit for doing a halfway decent job. I didn’t exercise but I made it through the day and avoided several fattening episodes that could have snagged me.
I’ll try to do better today. I’m hosting a Professional Development session after school today and promised refreshments but I’m going to do my best to keep it light. Maybe Subway, dill pickles, chips (which I can avoid) and strawberries. To be honest, when I finally get home at 6:00 (another eleven hour day), I don’t think I’m going to have the energy to exercise. It’s so cold here, I’ll probably burn some calories trying to stay warm today!
Breakfast - Light yogurt (80)
This past week has been a disaster from the very beginning. DH and I kept laughing so we wouldn’t cry. One fiasco after another. I should be heading to work refreshed and ready to deal with everything but I’m sitting here at the kitchen table trying to wake up and dreading going to work today.
Vacation, in a nutshell, was:
a late start on Friday with only about three hours driving in a downpour before pulling over for the night
downpours and thunderstorms all day Saturday so that we pulled over in Macon to spend another night
Sunday -arriving in Florida, setting up the cabin and RV in the rain
Monday _ beautiful day - went to town to get groceries and stuff to do the floor- moved everything out of the downstairs in the cabin and onto the porch
Monday night- thunderstorms and downpours that kept up running to keep the cabin stuff covered with tarps
Tuesday- raining like crazy -worked like a dog to level the cement floor in the cabin and started spreading mortar and laying tile
Wednesday_ STILL pouring rain, continued to work on the floor (OWWW, my back and knees!)
Thursday- STILL pouring rain - continued to work on the floor (things are getting pretty muddy and gross)
Friday - Finished the floor in the morning, the sun came out and it was a glorious day!
Saturday - Closed the cabin and headed home - got about 25 miles down the road and found it closed because water was over the bridge (had to take the car off the dolly, remove the dolly, and turn the RV around inch by inch on a narrow two lane road, reattach the dolly and reload the car) Headed in another direction to find another bridge washed out and repeated the entire process. Got detoured WAY out of our way to finally hook up with interstate in Adel, Georgia. Drove until almost midnight and pulled into Wally World exhausted.
Sunday-Drove all day, a wreck in Nashville had the interstate closed and we were rerouted into an unfamiliar area. Got about six miles down the road and saw a sign that said: “Low clearance ahead! High profile vehicles do not proceed! Eleven foot clearance” That’s really bad news when your vehicle is twelve feet high. We were forced to turn around and DH managed to scrape the guardrail in the process, leaving Manny with a big old wound. Finally got home about 6:00 and the skies opened up and poured on us as we tried to unload the necessities from Manny.
So, here I am…wondering what the Hell happened and why I feel like I need a vacation…I’m going to hit the shower and count my blessings so I don’t dwell on the past week. hmmm…Blessing number one- We’re all home safe and sound….Blessing number two-the floor got done and it looks great…Blessing number three-I have a job to go to……..
7:00 - I’m going for a perfect day. Should be soul cleansing..
Out the right side of the RV we have a pretty field of wildflowers, and a lake full of geese. On the left side, we have a huge Walmart Superstore. We had a rough day yesterday and DH and I are tired this morning and have another five hours to get home. Blogging on this Blackberry just ain’t natural. More this evening.
