New Workout Records!

Posted by: delitaagain In: Fitness

I just hafta share here, I’ve been concerned that continuing to do my (heavy) CrossFit workouts with the addition of a couple hours a day of dog walking at a fast pace seemed just too much for this body.

Yet today - I set new records on a benchmark weightlifting workout. For those of you who follow such things, here are my personal records:

  1. Back squat, 145 lbs. (twice now)
  2. Shoulder press, 75 lbs. (new today! WOOHOO!)
  3. Deadlift, 205 lbs. (twice now)

CrossFit adds these three up for a total. The first time I did them over a year ago, my total was something like 180. A month ago, it was 385. Today, it was 425!!

This is a real bench mark that I can use to say I must not be doing too much, or, I would have worn out halfway through and not set a new record total.

Can’t tell you how happy I am to think that I may be able to keep up the CrossFit AND add in the dog walking (or, hiking!) that I want to be doing this summer.

Who else around here is lifting weights or setting new records at your exercise?

Awesome job, Delita!
I recently did a workout that gave me 12 ww activity points..approx 120 minutes of cardio and weight lifting..I was pretty proud of myself! :) It’s such a great thing to keep track of your workouts - so rewarding when you set a new record!
Big Congrats :)

You were so wise to keep track of your baseline data so now you can see how far you have progressed! I’m very impressed.

It’s funny that you ask a question about making progress b/c I plan to pull out an old workout today that used to be very hard for me to see if it’s any easier. I’ll let you know how it turns out after I do it.

Just checking back in, I did the SI6 and totally rocked it. I still had to stop a few times over the hour but I could tell that it was MUCH easier than the last time I did it. I had forgotten that the 1st 10 minutes (no joke) are squats and lunges but when it was over I could have honestly done 10 minutes more. We’ll see if I can walk tomorrow, HA!

It’s so good to hear that your ‘weights are gaining’ as opposed to you ‘gaining weight’. That’s such great progress! :)

primaballerina, a belated congrats to you on your great workout! I am finding that logging my weightloss and my workouts (and my food and exercise over at w8challenge.com) is hugely helpful to me. Accountability helps so much and the comments and *friends* here make this so much more pleasant and worthwhile. You go, girl! You are doing this! Delita

brseay, yes, I’m very grateful that I started doing my workout log online so that I can now look back, no matter what state (or house) I’m in. It is HUGELY helpful to be able to see where I have come from and how fast I’m making progress. Thanks! I trust you blew that WO away! You always make me feel good. Delita

  • bigprof: WOW! 27 years in AA. Congratulations! & congrats on the RV too, the perfect digs for an Odyssey. My university has the only chick-fil-a in Mich
  • Sandi DeFalco: You're Back! Wow, an RV, very cool. I'm happy things are going your way. You are so right about 'priorities' change, you sometimes have to put things
  • tiny2b: OK, I'm going to be keeping an eye on how this RV living adventure works out for you, because it's kind of on the fantasy list for DH and I when we ha
