I've to see the neurosurgeon next week. Feeling much better no pain just twinges in my arm. Sleeping better. I'm gaining the weight back that I lost when I was on the meds.

I've had a horrible day, I kept on bursting into tears. A bit of TOM weepiness and a bit of stress about my grandma, not a good combination - particularly during my appraisal when I'm sure the bloke who was appraising me thought I was about to have a breakdown even though he was saying nice things. It wasn't work related, but I just couldn't turn it off. Not good.

Anyway, I'm very proud of myself. I was SO tempted at the end of the day to come home and dive into a bottle of red wine and a box of chocolate. Even though my car was at the leisure centre complete with running stuff, I got there and I really wanted to get in it and drive home. But I made myself run (7.2 miles), and it really helped get my mind off it and made me feel sane again.

Hopefully tomorrow will feel better.

Feel better Helen....you make me feel guilty, I am taking a day off today. Had a couple of pints last night watching the Patriots game and now I'm all lazy.

I hope all is well with your Grandma and that tomorrow is a better day.

Lou - I don't know what's wrong with her, which is part of the problem. She refuses to see a doctor (she has basically refused to see a doctor for the past 10+ years, but she's never been as ill as she is now so it didn't matter as much then). At least if we knew what was wrong with her we'd have some idea of what to do for her, how serious it is, what the outlook is etc. To be honest I can't see her getting any better this time unless she actually gets treatment, which she won't do, but what I don't know is how much worse it's going to get or how long she'll be like this. I do feel a bit better today though, although that could just be because nothing has set me off yet.

Poor Helly. For your grandma too. Old people are stubborn sometimes! Just be there for her, after all, you can't force her into treatment and it is her decision.

Lou - re: kittycats. It's a good thing he's being territorial and he needs to establish that the garden is his with other straying cats. He'll sort it out. I wouldn't try to intervene again, as you might get the brunt of his anger again. He'll be ok!

As for me - had little terrors last night at kickboxing, I think they must've eaten plenty of food colourings and additives for lunch! OMG!!!!! I think part of the problem is that there are 4 siblings and I get to put up with them squeeling and running round and tripping each other up. Anyways, we did some grading stuff and they seemed to be actually working. The little guy who is a big tyke sometimes was actually working well on his own

I woke up with a bit of a sniffle this morning - I'm dosing up on vit C and tea!

Off to the gym at lunch for squats... squat squat squaaaaaaat! Then more grading stuff at kickboxing tonight! I might actually get better!

A lot of old people do not like going to the doctor and as for hospital ....My mum is terrified of going to the hospital. She has to go to have a cyst on her tonsil removed and thought it was day surgery but has been asked to bring a nightie and a toothbrush. I said they sometimes like to keep you a few hours just in case. Now she is fretting about my dad having to stay around all the time when she is there. I said give him a book and he will be as happy as Larry.

She has only been in hospital a few times - twice to have kids (3rd was a home jobbie) and then to have her coil removed but it was so embedded, the guy said to keep it there!

MIche - glad to hear your Dad is ok and hope you are in fine voice for the singa long!

Lou - your Marmite sounds a right character! Our first cat (Footso- tortie and white) would come back from a fight and start on us. Her tail would stay fluffed up for ages. Sometimes she would then jump up on the telly with her back to us and her now fluffy tail in the way of the screen. Even my telly addict Dad had not the heart to move her. We used to strain over to the side to see what was on, then she was obviously thinking of her fight and would swish her tail around and we would be moving from side to side to try to see the screen. She had her moments. She would sometimes attack for no reason and yet other times put up with rough handling from us kids. I even put her in a dolls nightie once and put her in the pram!

OUr second cat - Topsy the black one - she had a skinny tail but boy could it fluff up. SHe was particularly terrortorial. I could hear her upstairs if she was growling out the window at another cat! I used to think it was an engine or something, or mum's sewing machine (in the middle of the night??!) but then realised it was Miss Topsy having a hissy growly fit.

Moo - that is rotten - I guess it is cheaper in Hungary. Why do they think you would want to ease the path for your replacement? Why do they think that??! Madness. I hope you look and find a decent job soon.

Some people, especailly those who are very ambitious like to go from job to job but me, as long as the salary is ok and the working conditions are fine, I am happy to stay put. So any rumours or changes and I am not a happy bunny! All quiet at the moment though.

Oooh climbing!!! That sounds fun, where is that? I could join you for climbing!!! I never got round to cleats on bike peddles, I just thought that people laugh enough at cyclists without falling across the bonnet of their cars and having them laugh even harder! Apparently they're great once you get used to them though!

That's pretty much down the road from me too (North Finchley) it looks fun! I've emailed DH with it - he'll probably say no straight away, but never mind! I think those taster sessions are probably the best to start out with don't you? I could probably do a weekend one when DH is out doing his policing thing - not sure when the next time is but I will keep in touch!

Lou do you use the cleets for spinning too???? My instructor tells me its better for your back but I'm afraid I will have no idea what I'm doing.

I like to be able to just remove my foot when I want to thank you

You are brave to use them for your bike, my brother is a serious cyclist and swears by them but I would definitely fall off multiple times I'm sure.
