Hi all....would love to join in on this. I have more than a few things I'd like to turn into good habits. I'm going to start with one or two for now...

1. drink 8-8oz glasses of water per day(level 2 for me)..day one today.
2. walk or workout everyday except Sunday (level 3)..day one.

Fingers crossed lol.

Food tantrum? Too many syllables! How about a fantrum? Or a food fit? Or just the smilie ?

Red, when the boys at the bar "don't get" the whole diet thing, it's not because they think beer and a diet don't go together. You can search the world, and not find two young men who realize there are calories in beer. As another old boyfriend (they were legion) once said, "There's (sic) no calories in alcohol. Rubbies are always skinny." Of course he hadn't thought about the fact that rubbies don't eat much if at all, they exist on booze and live rough. Anyway, they (the boys, not the rubbies) probably think you look fine, if they think about you in that way at all. Or should I say if they do in fact think at all.

Ees, I'm with you on commenting only when the spirit moves (free translation of what you wrote ). As for your jogging, I'm so jealous! I get my new orthotics on Tuesday and am so hoping I'll be able to run again one of these days.

Major breakthrough on the unfriendly cat front today: little Lily actually didn't squirm and leave when I picked her up - for the first time she relaxed and purred while I scratched her head, and now she's sitting on the footstool next to my legs. She likes me, she really likes me!! (Okay, I'm pathetic. But if you knew her you'd understand. Okay, make that very pathetic.) And with that the little minx has picked herself up and moved to another chair. Just toying with my affections, I guess. I do have a life, I swear I do.

Happy news on the scale: moving back down to a more acceptable weight. I won't do anything to my ticker until Monday, but things are looking good.

As for challenges, still doing some stealth work. No announcements yet.

Bye

Hey all. Well, good and bad day. I did finish my no caffeinated soda challenge. I will start a no soda challenge when I restart the menu challenge. I did not make it to the gym today, due to work issues, but did stop myself from going to the store when I knew I would get more food porn. The water is tasting better and better, by the way. I also joined the Self mag challenge for this year. The more motivation the better, eh?

By the way, what is a "Rubbie"???

And congrats on all the losses and completed challenges. And to all who are hanging on to the wagon by a rope off the back with me - keep hanging on !

Yes, carla, what is a rubbie? I am curious! Sounds like I may like them! I had to laugh about the thinking about me that way, if thinking at all part!! You are so mean!! And it's a tantrum not a fit! I am going to throw one if you don't allow me this! You can leave out the food part. A fit is something rabid dogs throw, or epileptic ones. We used to have one, poor thing.
Well, I...gloating madly...just ran 7K this morning at a slow, then fast pace, that took me an hour! It felt great! I am starting to like my rear end again! Speaking of tushes, Dragon Tush, Welcome!! jolly, you're rockin' on staying away from the smut!! tia, hang in there, love your new pic! What a beautiful smile!!

Is a rubbie a rich urban biker? That's what google comes up with. If so, are those motorcycle bikers or cyclists?

Yea, what is a rubbie? Carla, we're on for the pound a week. So it's not a challenge, but a side bet. Or a 21 WEEK challenge? I guess if I stuck to it I'd meet my goal. Hmmmm...Right on time for summer...You weigh on Mondays, right? Oh, Mondays can be rude, but it's best to get yourself at your worst.
I was thinking about summer today, it was warmish and I thought how I was so not ready to start exposing my scary arms, nevermind the legs...
Day 11 for exercise, by the way. I haven't been jogging as much as walking though. I'd like to increase the jogging part, but it will be slow and steady, so my knee will be OK. Carla, whats up with the orthotics? I have read that they may help correct my knee (actually it's IT-band syndrome) I'm doubtful that my insurance would pay for sports therapy or any paraphanelia associated with it.
Hey Tia and Jolly..Keep at it!!
Fish, I hope you feel better soon!
Chai, I love your hairball story. That's happened to me many times!
Where is physdom? And where is Freaky! Hello out there!!
Sushi....guess what I'm having for dinner?!!!

Oh dear, where are all the Canadians when I use a word like rubbie? It's a not-so-nice term for the skid row guys, the ones who live under the bridge or in the parks. I think the word comes from them drinking rubbing alcohol when there's no real booze. And I feel kind of bad about using the expression, especially since so many street people are only out there because the state in its wisdom emptied so many mentally ill people out of the institutions and left them to fend for themselves.

Apple, I have problems with plantar fasciitis in my feet, aggravated by my weight. Add to that the fact I have very large, sensitive feet, and there's trouble. I have a heck of a time finding shoes. "Oh, don't worry. We have your size. They're unisex (ie men's) sneakers/bike shoes/ski boots. What? You don't wear a triple E width? Being difficult, are we?" And that's when I go postal. Anyway, if you've been advised to try orthotics, you should start with a commercial type like Superfeet insoles. Sometimes they're all you need. Available in running and other sports stores. I bought some for my mother and she raves about them. There are also some good stretches for the IT band. Just don't overdo it - better to rest for a few days now than for months down the road.

Red, no need to be angry with me, I wasn't meaning to be insulting. (At least not insulting to you.) Just don't tell the young fellas I suspect them of being gormless twits who see you as one of the guys and have no capacity for deep thought. And I still prefer food fit, but you're the .

Default hey girls...

Well... HI all!!!! I have been AWOL for a few days... but well.... it's all good!

I am going to just post a few fast things and then get on with my challenges...

Red: Thanks!!! I know that it can't all happen at once... but that's why I am here right?! To take the steps in the right direction. BTW... i think you totally rock... you are so good at encouragement and support... and from what i hear a few needed butt-kickin's too! Keep up your awesome attitude! I admire you. And as for the hair cutting thing... you are just a brat!!!!! I would have DIED if she cut my hair!!!! I have been trying to grow it out for over 2 years! I did take this one alot better then when her sister did it... then again... her sister did it twice (threetimes if you count the trim she gave the DOG!) and was FIVE at the time!!!!! Cassidy is three and I know that is just normal. Anyway... she is saved from Momma's wrath even further by the pleasent miracle of being able to put her hair up into ponytails... albeit lopsided (one long and full... the other short and whimpy) ones!

Ok... sooo.... challenges.... well they are still on...

Is it really stupid to take a pause day on day 3??? ROFL... I just didn't get in to the groove today... I was craving food porn all day and just wasn't motivated. However my 6yo said the sweetest thing to my ex and his GF today... "I jsut like to do yoga and exercise with my mom" I know ... a silly thing to gloat about... but dang it! I am thrilled that she wants to do this with me! I want to be her example and am going to start including her in my workouts... it will be better for her to see me work hard than to just do it while they are sleeping. I know it is harder to do when there are three kids awake... but if I wait til night I slack off... so i am taking a pause day.

sooo... that means my challenges are as follows.....
Study: day 8
H2O: day 3
Workout: day 2 *pause* (2 left)

Well... keep up the awesome work all!!!! Congrats to the finishers and welcome to the newcomers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
