Good morning all. Yesterday I technically met my challenges, but still wasn't a stellar day. See if I can continue working towards my reward soon as I head to the gym to weigh in. YIKES.

Have a great day everyone.

Default Somewhat less than bushy-tailed...

Good Morning All!

Day 1 of my Up Before 7AM challenge is complete - I have decided to relax my rules a bit...I still have to be awake and out of bed by 7am, but if I doze off while watching the morning news while my clothes are (as they are this morning) in the washing machine, that doesn't scrap the whole day for me. The important thing is to get in the habit of getting out of bed that early.

The scale was up 1.5lbs this morning. I am hoping it's just water retention b/c I had a *really* salty day yesterday. I'm going to wait and see if the scale is still high tomorrow before I move my ticker back.

I may be restarting a water challenge sometime in the near future - I find that I'm not drinking nearly as much as I was before, at least not on the weekend (I say this as I chug diet Dr. Pepper for breakfast... )

My knees are almost back to 100% - maybe by midweek I'll be workout-worthy again. I hope so as I hate not being able to move and having to take the elevator everywhere. Till later!

Keep on Truckin!

hello all

I'd like to challenge myself to a 21 day goal. I will take a 20 min walk everyday with my son in his stroller.

Heres to 21 days!

Well, I think the party's over at last. It's been more than a week of sloth and food porn and wine, and if I don't stop this right now I'll be bursting out of all my clothes. Today's a good starting point: I have spin class tonight, so the exercise will happen, and changing my ticker was just the sobering experience I needed. No challenge identified yet - I'll start something on the first.

During my absence, a lot seems to have happened around here! New members, lots of weight loss, new avatars... I don't think I'll be commenting on all I've missed. Sorry .

But I must congratulate our hard-working buddy Shad!

on finishing the challenge! But I am sorry to hear you're feeling disgruntled about the lack of weight loss. You had me concerned with that talk of fasting until I realized you didn't mean TOTAL fasting. Maybe you could try a week or two on the Fat Flush plan? Lots of cranberry juice and eggs, if I remember correctly. Of course it's really just a matter of calorie limitation, but it's so complicated it keeps you too busy to overeat.

Red, I hear your pain! And I think a set menu would work wonders for you. When you journal and count calories, do you track the beer calories as well? Do they sell light beer in the pubs, or is that only for wusses? What kind of junk do you buy in the convenience store anyway? (Maybe you should answer that one by PM - I don't want to be charged with soliciting food porn.)

My pledge for now: to post daily, and to find a challenge by Feb 1st.

Greetings to all, and to all a good day. Sorry for the uninspired and uninspiring post. Don't know where my muse is these days - probably off cavorting with my equally awol mojo.

carla, carla, carla..... don't be so hard on yourself...... you put on the brakes and have regained your motivation

Ahem, I need to re-start my exercise challenge, possibly tomorrow.....I'm very excited that clothes are beginning to fit properly, but I'm afraid of both the tapemeasure and the scale, so I'm in "scale-denial" everyone else seems to be taking the high road and I don't want to get left in the dust.....

Default Day Nine Done!

Wow! I am finished with day 9 already on my exercise challenge
Friday and Saturday I did 40 minutes each day on the elliptical. Sunday I did 40 minutes on the elliptical plus a 36 minute yoga dvd.

I finally gave in and moved my tracker back up . I know it's only a one pound gain, but it is still a gain. I definitely have to start limiting my calories in addition to counting them. I mean, I can count to a million! But I won't lose weight that way.

Red and Carla - it seems we are all suffering from the EAT MODE! Now what are we going to do about it? I'm concerned because I am going back up to NY again this afternoon - for two nights this time; i will be home late Wednesday night. The corporate apartments are supposed to be fully set up and furnished. I will have to see tonight when I get there if that means pots/pans/spices/etc. There is also a "D'Agostinos" within the community - I checked out the website, it looks sort of like a Whole Foods or Balducci's, so I should be able to get something healthy but pre-made.

CBETA - are you feeling better? I hope you just had a temporary bad day and are not getting sick.

Curlylocks - oh my gosh! 30 pounds since September? That. Is. Awesome!!! Your doctor is right about slow and steady being the best way. I, of course, am much too impatient!

Tayja - about the 24in24 dairy thing. I think it is partially a marketing tool. I mean, dairy has good things in it, like calcium and everyone should have some dairy in their diet. That being said, put me in the "milk is gross" camp. If I have cereal or oatmeal on the weekend, I will use 1/2 cup of fat-free milk in it. Otherwise I try to have a serving of plain, fat-free yogurt (Total Fage is excellent - it is very thick) or a serving or two of cheese (1 oz. each). But to just drink a glass of milk? Not going to happen!

Tia - your baby is SO cute!

Oh DAgostino's, that brings back memories....

Wow I can't believe how long it took just to catch up....
I had a nice week-end with my family, we were pretty active, bird watching and playing on the beach. BUT (Red....) I blew the no beer challenge.
Oh well. So today it's back to day one. I believe I am on day 8 of the exercise challenge.

Tia, your baby is so cute! My womb is aching.....

It is inspiring to hear about everyone's losses!

Cool

Apple, don't you have pause days? Maybe, no more...or was it a two or three-day thing?

carla, so good to see you back. I have missed you!!

Sushi, yes, Shad is right, your food diary entails food porn!! Can we put ugly faces in there to substitute for those foods (we all know them!) that can act as triggers for us? or can you just journal off line for us? Please?!?!?! For those of us trying to cut way down (including ME) reading about such things can set me off on a convenience store run.

Well, gotta go. Will catch up later. Ciao tutti.

I'm very sorry... very sorry... VERY SORRY...
totally unintended... I'll try to use the smileys from now on. Only I don't want it to seem like I eat sweets each day, hence the disclaimers...

Anyhow, I think yesterday was porn food free, but now I'm scared to post it... just had my usual breakfast, fruit for snack, sushi for lunch, sushi for dinner and some mango with ice... is that food porn?

Nope that's fine.

It's things like and and and that cause the trouble. Wont write the words. These are trigger factors for some.

Thanks for understanding Sushi.

Hey all. I have to change my signature to. The scale today showed a 1 pound gain Not cool.

The no caffeinated soda challenge is almost finished. Tomorrow is my last day. Then I will change to a "NO SODA" challenge. I think I need to restart the "Following Menu" challenge as well. I knew I should have started at the beginning of a menu cycle. This set of menus just had dinner - that leaves a lot of room to mess around. So, when I do my planning for the next two weeks, I will have all meals planned. The rule is that I can "switch" any meals listed on the menu, and will even list snacks ok to have. I will give myself 3 pause days. This way, I have to be accountable for more than just the evening meal.

Have a good day all.
