Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday! I'm at work and wanted to post a quick update while my LC is cooling down (it doesn't look all that good--I'm glad I brought an extra apple and some veggies for later!)

Day 5 of my challenges:

for no caffeine
for sit ups (30) each morning!
for nekkid food (no sugar)

I was tempted to put some syrup on my pancakes the other day, but I put applesauce on them instead--tasty!

W00T! w00t! Is kind of like a WOOHOO and a horn Tooting at the same time....it's a good thing...I promise . This would be the closest smiley to a w00t smiley-- Tay can correct me if I'm wrong....she was my w00t inspiration

Chimming in as a Bronco fan, ya'll can have Jakie Snakie--I'll take Jon Lynch

DH has decided that he wants to lose weight--10 to 15 pounds, so I have him addicted to Fitday as well. For him, I think it is more a matter of healthier eating--we have switched to organic foods and I'm switching him to brown rice instead of white rice and whole grain bread instead of white. He's 6'3 and about 210...we weigh the same now, so as long as I beat him to 200 I'll let him lose weight

I'll be back later to post some more---it's time for this funny looking lean cuisine

day six is done its been done since this morning. Autumn (my 2 year old cousin i watch) and i did salsa dancing this morning to the chrunch dvd i broke down and bought a year ago. Man she can really shake it. She added so much energy and fun to the work out I think she just may be my new work out buddy.

Hey all. YOu are all crazy busy post-ers. I can't keep up

OK Day 13 - no caffeinated soda - Hurray
Day 1 - sticking to my menu I can't believe it. I almost sabotaged myself on this one on the first day. I told myself that it was probably the type of taco seasoning I had bought which made me sick, and I should probably grab something else easier on the stomach. Now, this may be the case, as I think I got sick the last time I got this brand. BUT, I also knew that I was looking for an excuse to get some junk food - mainly chocolate. So, I bypassed the store and came straight home. HURRAH!

Also, not a challenge, but . . . I did do weights this morning.

Congrats to everyone who had a successful day! Weight to go.

Cool moving right along....

Good morning, all. Not sure what day on my challenge it is, but challenges all notched another day, though the journaling I'm just allowing to squeak by. Well, I'm glad to see so much posting going on around here, but it does take a lot of time to catch up. I have a meeting this morning to discuss some ideas for this racing newsletter I do some work for and I haven't even thought of any...not good...well, let's get a move on things here...

Also, my computer monitor died yesterday and I spent most of the day finding a new one that could be used with my old computer. I did and finally got it working, I am happy to say. So, that's a weight off my mind. When this computer goes I can get a new hard drive and still use the new monitor so that's cool.

Okay, I just figured it out. This is Day 8 on caffeine, Day 7 on the crunches and journaling....I think.

freaky -- I'm glad to see you're still going strong on your challenge and glad to see you have such an enthusiastic workout buddy! Having fun is the best way to go! Yeah, really, doesn't that just go for everything? Should be words to live by!

Karla -- Congrats on Day 5 of your challenges and for keeping that syrup off the pancakes! Way to go! Thanks for the w00t explanation. Now, I'll have to go look up Jon Lynch. Don't know any of these guys until people mention 'em and I do a search. You know, I just read a story in the Pittsburgh paper about some kid who was wearing a Bronco shirt and his teacher gave him **** and humiliated him. It wasn't right in Pittsburgh, but outside of it a bit. The freak teacher. I hope he gets fired. He obviously is one sicko and we don't need fans like this. Somebody at work was saying he'd heard that some city in the States had some pretty violent fans, the kind that made English soccer hooligans look tame. Anyone heard of where this might be? I think it was probably just a freak incident, like this psycho teacher, but I was wondering if any city had a bad reputation for getting seriously out of hand. OK, just looked up Lynch...no, not my type either...I think I'm into darker men, never liked blondes or big, lumbermen types....

Sushi -- You are very quiet these days, or do you just seem quiet in contrast to the deluge of posts we have been getting with our new chatty members?! Well, as for posting what you eat every day...only if you DON'T include any food porn, ok?

Apple - I'm with you on the New York thing. Seeing as both my parents were born and bred New Yorkers from Queens and Brooklyn, and they never said anything bout the island. The grandfather lived out there and my father was always fishing up Montauk. Sure, the address is officially Long Island City, but if you go into Manhattan you're never going to say, "heh, I just came in from the Island today." No way. My great-grandmother had a big farm out on Staten Island. I can remember going out there and walking through the woods and picking berries. Course, that's all gone now...just reminiscing here... No, you definitely are right on this one! You are doing so well with your no-beer challenge. Wish I could say the same. And jogging too!! Wow! Impressive. The office drinking is a mixed blessing really. I mean, I do like meeting up with people and going out, but I prefer going out one-on-one really. Monday night they were already saying, okay, we'll get together Friday night, and I don't really want to be drinking for more than, say, once every two weeks. These guys drink every night, some of them. They take it personally if you don't hang out with them so it can be a problem. And the thing is, I DO want to hang out with them, just wish it wasn't always over drinks and in groups...oh well. Apple, you shouldn't be jealous of my social life. It's really nothing at all. It seems I'm forever hanging out with married guys and guys with girlfriends and it's really extremely boring as far as romance goes. Really, sometimes I see it all as a huge waste of time and money.

carla -- Stay away from all that junk!! I know how traveling really messes with any convictions though. For me, at least, it usually is treated as a time for free-for-all, unbridled revelry. And, oh, wow, I missed the completed challenge! Sorry about that! So, congratulations!! Glad to see you bringing yet another round to completion!!

Phys -- Good on liftoff! Though you vacuumed up your food yesterday, at least it didn't include tons of junk and sugar. Good luck in the cafeteria!

curly -- I feel your pain as well, but at least you are smaller and you are no doubt tighter. I don't know what kind of intensity your workouts are done at, or how heavy you weight train, but perhaps you should up that. You have to shake up your workouts. I see so many people who are more or less wasting their time at the gym, but probably think they are doing tons of exercise. Not saying you are, but I would look into changing something. I mean, you've got to change something if you are going to lose weight. I find that when I really up the intensity of workouts I can lose weight, but I mean I am really going hard. And the fitter you are the harder you're going to have to work out in order to make a dent.

Shad -- Good for you on Day 18. You're almost done! I had to look up "strewth." Found it. It's interesting learning Aussie slang. I learned "freeboarding" the other night, Aussie equivalent of "going commando."

CBETA -- Stop focusing on the scale! If you are sore you'll be heavier. It's always the case. Focus on your efforts and keep them consistent. The results will follow if you're keeping the food intake down, which may get harder as you burn more. And as for the dinosaur on the street??? really don't expect to meet one....is this a trick question? What's this about flying around the mountains with a millionaire? Something you didn't tell us about yourself... I am glad to hear your parents are both well. Just don't dwell on things. I cry a lot and then just move on, never dwell on it....the crying is a natural thing. And of course an athlete could be into you. In fact, it's more likely that your having once been fat would impress an athlete because they would know how much work is needed to get in shape. Just don't get involved with someone who thinks it's his mission to change you, that's a bummer. I had a paratrooper boyfriend, was attracted to him for his body, but it got old, all the gung-ho stuff. I mean, he can do it and I can do it for myself but I don't need him telling me to do it, you know? I mean it's like, "Don't you have a marathon to run or something?"

Tia -- Well, carla gave you all the dope. I hope you join us and come in and post regularly. I am not "fearless" but I try to put up a good front. And as for being an ailurophile (carla, NO ONE is going to know what that means!!) you don't have to love cats to come in here. A fondness for the Steelers is a good thing though. The lunacy and lush part may come with time and too much exposure to us... But most importantly, just be supportive and determined to make some positive changes in your life and to NEVER GIVE UP!!

stage -- Waiting for those new challenges! When did you finish the old ones and did I miss something and did I congratulate you!?!? Now, now, let's not get too critical of the players. I'm sure he showers, at least after games....

jolly -- Yeah, the posting is crazy here these days! But, that's a good thing. Bravo on the no caffeine. And excellent going on that save!! and weights!! Good for you and keep this up!

Tay -- You're rockin! Thanks for all your friendly support of others.

Days 18, 19, and 20 are complete and I’m 44 oz. from day 21! I will be chugging water though my shows tonight and will probably float to the bathroom four times during the night but I will get it done, darn it!!

HI LADIES! I have returned from FOOD PORN anniversary weekend – I gained 2.5 lbs in 2 days! 2 lbs of that were gone as of this morning, though – must have just been water weight from the extra salt…we’ll see if they stay off or come roaring back, though… BF and I had a wonderful time, even though my knees were killing me by the end of day 1 - our room had a Jacuzzi tub, though and so I had a nice long soak with the water jets, which helped. We took it easy with the walking on day 2 and my knees ended up being somewhat better on Monday than they had been on Friday. I wasn’t able to play in our playoff hockey game, though . I played it safe and just cheered from the sidelines. I can take stairs now but I’m not doing any exercise until they’re better – I just don’t want to chance it. I’ll watch my calories and start back on moderate LOW impact exercise once the pain is gone.

Red: To answer your question, PCOS stands for PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome – it’s an endocrine disorder that contributes to, among other things, mood disorders, irregular periods, type II diabetes, obesity and infertility, as well as random unpleasant things like eczema, adult acne, and being super hairy in unfeminine places. I’m fortunate in that mine (right now, at least) is relatively mild, but it’s pretty miserable for a lot of women. It makes weight loss quite difficult as the crazy hormones just screw up your body’s equilibrium. As for the knees, I’m being really careful and taking the elevator at school and resting them with icepacks whenever I can – I don’t want to do any permanent damage! This knee thing, though, has definitely caused me to be that much more determined to lose the weight – I never had joint problems before I was overweight and now I feel I have the body of a 90 year old!

Marble: way to go on the workouts!

Apple Blossom: how old is that daughter of yours? If I said that to my mom past the age of about 5 the wrath of God would have descended upon me…

CBETA: those “thin, dry thingies” sound a little like the Pepperidge farm ultra thin sliced bread, which I really like: 110 calories for THREE slices and no weird soy in it, either – it’s 100% whole wheat – the only thing is they’re really quite small slices.

Freakybella: that keifer Sutherland bit was a mental image I could have gone my entire life without having… :P Johnny Depp on the other hand…. He is quite possibly the single sexiest man alive (….well….after Viggo Mortensen..), although I thought his Willy Wonka was a bit on the creepy side... admittedly, though, I love Gene Wilder’s performance. I tend to think that when you let him and Tim Burton work together they need a chaperone to tone down the batsh*t craziness that they come up with.

Jolly: good job on recognizing the self sabotage and resisting! Wooohoo!

Keep on Truckin!

Another question? Is this the only time during the year you do this challenge. This sounds so neat!

Ermmm...that would be Denver's biggest Rivals--the Oakland Raiders they have a nasty reputation. I will go to any other stadium except Oakland. That's not just coming from a Bronco fan, that's coming as a sports fan. The only other incident I can recall is Detroit basketball fans caused a brawl last year, but no has a worse rep than Oakland.

You're in Tokyo? My nephew (16) is going to Japan for about 3 weeks this summer. He's been wanting to go for years (he taught himself Japanese and Chinese when he was in 4th grade).
