Taebo
Hi guys -
To answer your question Nori - I have the Billy Blanks' Taebo workouts, but this one I'm doing now is the Cardio Circuit workout. I love the other Taebo workouts, especially the basic. Now he has these Bootcamp Workouts, I haven't made it to that level just yet. I'm going to wait until I drop some more weight first. ;) Lisa |
not well!
HI everybody, I am glad to here everyone is doing well! To answer your question Nori, Suger **** sucks! Plain and simple! I have had afew bad days lately and being there at work with the stress there too, does not help. I had been doing so good and I let things get to me and I have backed off. I feel like I have let everyone including myself down. I guess this is just my moment and bad day! I know everyone gets them. When I get them, they are really bad. I am sitting here frying as I write this. There is just so much going on. I here about all of the great things you all get to do with your husbands and families. Though my husband is supportive as are my kids, I do not get to spend the time with my husband that I need or want because of my FIL. Then I feel bad when I get angry or upset about caring for him. I know, I am just rambling and that I can get past this but I am tired. I guess I kind of feel like Jason did yesterday. Well. I need to go for now. GUess what I am the Cookie mom for my daughter's troop and I have to go take care of that. Food all around me, surrounded by stress and not being to do everything for myself that I want too. Again, Nori like I said it is ****! Thanks everyone for listening!

I meant crying! LOL till later!

Catherine - - sorry you are having a rough day. We all have them - you are not unusual at all. (You should have seen me a few months ago in the middle of post-partum depression... ) It sounds like you lead a very busy life, taking care of a parent + your immediate family, working a stressful job...give yourself some credit for all that you do do! Vent anytime!!
Lately I've been seeing how much I listen to NEGATIVE SELF TALK! Life is about more than what we eat, or how much we eat, or how much we weigh, or how much we move ... I have to remind myself from time to time that it's not black & white ...it's not that either I'm perfect or that I'm a total failure! I have to stop and listen to my thoughts - especially this one: "I'm a pound heavier today. My day is ruined!" I'm starting to think more rationally and understand that it is normal for weight to fluctuate a couple pounds due to fluid retention. I KNOW I HAVE not gained a pound of FAT! |
boy everyone on here is so talkative...I can't keep up with who's who yeah...sounds like everyone is doing great though...as of yesterday I'm at 402 minutes of exercise for the month...just got home from work and haven't got in todays yet...
recap of my plan is..I'm counting calories trying to stay between 1200-1400...no sugar or white flour....lots of water...eat at least 3 meals per day and 2 snacks.....I also try to up my fiber and protein intake and exercise as mush as possible....I've been on my plan since the end of Dec and I'm down about 15lbs... have a great night |
Its Friday !!!!!
Friday is finally here - thank goodness - I have to tell you all it has been a long week at work. Then yesterday at work was the true kicker, one of the guys picked a couple pressure points and I felt that I just needed to cry (which I never do at work). I work in a mostly male industry (there are only females are the assistants, a couple saleman, and a couple others that are in management roles)so even though I am not a emotional girl at the office some times I am sterotyped into that role.
Anyway it is Friday and I am ot of the office at meetings for most of the morning so today hopefully will fly by. Weigh in day - down 1 more (thought it would be a bit more since the clothes were fitting better still). By the way, I tried on the dress last week to see how it is fitting; well, I had to order a new one. See something is happening to my body, because it is very bunching in the middle and is a little too long (past my feet) - it appears there is more material than needed to cover my body. :smug: :D When I first tried it on it was a good fit and seemed to be a bit tight in the tummy. So I bought another dress from the same site which is knee length so it should not be as much of a deal. I will get the other altered when it is closer to the weddings, but since I have my work award dinner at the end of this month I did not want to get it altered a few times. Nori - yes I had a great time out with girls. Controled drinking and we ended up getting dinner - everyone was getting steak, hamburgers, sandwich with fries - but not I - I had spring egg rolls (only ate the insides not the fried layer) and a meditterean salad with about a tablespoon of dressing. DH rabbit food comments are fewer. I just defend myself everytime he says something. I think I may have been too defensive last time because he also asked how I was doing with it - I said how does it look like I have been doing?? Nighthawk - I have been telling a lot of people about losing weight especially since some have noticed - that way I need I can not treat myself because I have a bunch of people "watching me". The bad thing is there is always somebody who is like does it really matter - yesterday one of my co workers offered me a soda - let along a regular coke at that - come on!!! I was strong though went to the vending machine and got the flavor water only !!! I was pretty proud of myself Elizabeth - welcome back - thanks for being so sweet and supportive - hope everyone is feeling better in your household desertdreamer - how is you leg doing?? Remember only do what your body can do - there is a lot of awesome upperbody work outs marinemommy - it looks like you have great plans and you have been doing very well - keep going - we can do this!! hellokitty - do you have billy banks boot camp - one of the girls at work just got it - she said I could try it in a bit - just wondering what it might be like Hope everyone else is doing well and keeping up with their goals. Hubby is out of town again. So I know I will get some exercise in tonight - only did a five minute this morning - some push ups and crunchs. Plus it is suppose to snow tonight and tomorrow - it may be 6 - 12 inches so shoveling the sidewalks and driveway counts as exercise, plus taking my little guy out to play. Just hate the fact I have to go the grocery store tonight and it will be packed with everyone getting emergency supplies - I should have gone earlier this week, but wanted to wait a bit. Everyone take care - E |
Good morning ladies & J: It looks like everyone's posting and working hard!
Menu: cereal, Lean Cuisine, 2 clementines, grilled pork, turnips, green beans, skinny cow Pts= 22? Water: 32 oz. Vita: no Exer: 15 min BATP, 10 min DDR Lisa: I'm a secretary also, what does everyone else do? Sarah: My plan is WW on my own, 26 pts a day max, I'm working on the exercise and water :^: Danielle: the boss ended up losing $1,000 at the casino, got a $200+ speeding ticket on his way home (lucky he didn't get DUI!!!) and had a big fight with his wife to top it off. After I covered for him 3 times on the phone with his boss, he told him the truth yesterday as to where he went...I'm glad that drama is over! I hope your leg is feeling better. Elizabeth: thanks for the logos, I hope your cold is gone. Lori: Thanks for the song suggestions, I never heard of Barroom Blitz, I'll try to find a sample...I love Radar Love too. Nori: the pork was kind of dry from the grill :( I'm jealous of your weather, exercise and sleep! Catherine: I hope you feel better today, take some time for yourself and do something special. Momto2: your words are so true, I tend to think negatively and I have to stop doing that. Donna: 15 lbs is great! Congrats, sounds like you have a solid plan! Erin: We're expecting snow this weekend too, have fun playing with the little guy. I've got to hit the grocery store, maybe I'll sneak a long lunch if I can and try to do it then. I also promised DD we'd go get fish for a small tank we set up the other night. It will be our first fish experience. I'm told Petco sells fish and I could stop and get them on my way home but she wants to pick them out so that means a drive back about 15 miles towards where I work :dizzy: We might go to the Peabody Museum here in New Haven, she's been fascinated with mummies for the last several weeks and I think they have one there. Have a great weekend. My internet connection from home wasn't working last night ???? I may not talk to you again till Monday. Have a great weekend everyone. |
 Wow! So much to read and update! First of all, ladies & J, you are all doing amazing jobs. Look how long we've been sticking with this! This thread started at the time of New Year's Resolutions. And what happens to those? They last for a week or so. You've been here, trudging along, through fast weight loss, little gains, and plateaus and slow weight loss. HUG YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Squeeze really hard. (And wow - you just burned a few extra calories there, too.)
I can't respond to everyone, because I can't figure out how to type in this box and read all the posts at once! LOL :dizzy: Elizabeth - so great to see you back on! How are the home renovations going? You better believe we're excited about moving to SC! The only thing is, I want more of this weight off before we move. It's a lot easier to say no to yummy yummy yummy Southern Cooking :chef: when you know you have to get in your size 10 jeans. Right now, I'm still a size 16, and my goal is to be a size 12 before we leave. I'm trying to focus on how great it feels to be in Onederland, and not get caught up in the fact it's taking me so long to lose. You keep up the great work, you'll be leaving me in your dust!!!! :ebike: Nori - 14 pounds!!! Way to go!!!!! Tell me, what lean protein source are you using? Can you give me an example of your daily menu? I need to up my water intake. I'm going to focus on that today. :high: Catherine - I have to admit, when I read your first post and it said FRYING, I Was like, now there's a girl who knows how to do it!! LOL I love fried foods. They've been the hardest thing for me to drastically reduce. I'm so sorry you were crying. I hope today is going better, and I hope you have a fabulous weekend to help you recover. It's only natural to have mixed feelings about caring for your FIL. I don't know if you're a religious person, but you're doing exactly what Jesus would want. (I teach CCD on Sundays, and I'm teaching the 4-5 year olds about Jesus caring for his sheep, and how we care for people.) You keep up your amazing work! Lori - way to go on the new BMI!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!! Lisa & Nori - I bought Billy's Boot Camp. I think I need a little more coordination and speed, but I'm aiming to work up to it. :carrot: My friend bought TurboJam, and she came over last night after the kids went to bed (and my husband was on duty) and we did the LEarn & Burn and part of the AbJam. OWWWWWW! It's fun, but whoa!!!!!!! Have any of you tried it? :faint: Maureen - what's BATP? As far as what's normal for a haircut, in the town I live, haircuts for women range from $25 - $50. But if you go down the hill to Palm Springs, they can be more than $100. Can you imagine? Okay, more later! |
Look At My Ticker!
That's right, one more pound down! It's taken 2 weeks for that vicious little pound to go, but it's GONE GONE GONE!!!!!!
|
Erin - been there, done that with the crying at work. I used to work for a large law firm, and was the only woman besides secretaries who worked in construction law. Keep your chin up, I bet you handled everything great. And a great big WAHOO for your crunches and push ups this morning!!!
Again, I'm the dork that can't read the posts while replying, so I can't remember who asked what jobs we had here? Right now, I work as a secretary in Human Resources for a school district. When we get to SC, I'm taking some time off to focus on my kids. I'm really looking forward to that. |
Hi Sarah - Yes, this is a great group! If you click the cutton "Post Reply" instead of starting to type in the box, you should be able to see posts? I can. they are underneath the box where youstart typing. Anyways, CONGRATULATIONS on the scale moving girl!!! Had to make you feel good--eventhough you'd doing good without it moving too!
To answer your question - I really feel better when I eat small meals that include carbs, fat and protein. I aim right now for 40% carbs/30% protein/30% fat. Thinking about switching around the protein and carbs ratios though. Lean protein = chicken & fish! Well, mostly - at least in 2 of my small meals a day! Also tuna, turkey breast (even the deli style), egg whites (or Eggbeaters), protein shakes, Morningstar sausages (have only 80 calories and 10 g of protein), cottage cheese (this has fair amt of carbs also though). I also eat some salmon 3-4 times a week. The smoked salmon from Costco (YUMMY), or salmon I cook and eat leftovers. So for most meals I eat a serving 2-4 oz meat (depending on the calories in it), a salad or fruit and or veggie and about 3-4 almonds. Something to try to get balanced with all food groups. Breakfast is usually 1 cup cooked oatmeal, 1/4 cup blueberries in it, coffee, 3-4 almonds, and some source of protein. Or an omlet (usually 1 whole egg with some eggbeaters added to it) with LOTS of veggies - red pepers, spinach, onions, mushrooms - in it. Sometimes I put avocado in it for my fat if I only use egg whites. 1 meal is often a protein shake with strawberries, blueberries and sometimes banana in it. 1 meal is usually a BIG salad with meat in it and lots of veggies, with Newman's Own Lighten Up Balsamic Vinagerette dressing, and a fat free yogurt. 1 meal often include either pasta or brown rice...it's hard for me to cut all of it out. Most of my meals are around 300 calories. Some lower, some higher... and I eat 4-5 of those meals each day. Sometimes when I need somethign else I take 2 oz banana and put 1t-1/2T peanut butter on it and it gets me through a rough moment. For roughly 60 calories. I use a kitchen scale ALL THE TIME. Plus, best thing is that I know I can live like this forever. IT IS NOT A DIET! It makes me feel good. I know I may have to mix things up as I hit plateaus, but for now...sorry so long. Erin - sorry about the rough day yesterday. YES, snow shoveling counts as mega exercise!!! Gladyou had a nice girls night out Maureen - when you say BATP, so you mean WATP? Walk Away The Pounds? 50$ for a haircut is "more highend" here. I paid $35 last time. But we just moved here last year and it's Hickville compared to Seattle. In Seattle I normally paid $150+tip for cut and full foil at just your average salon - not highend. I never got just the haicut, but I think they were $50. Sorry your pork was dry. Those low fat meats get ruined so quickly on the grill. Oops, Melina is crying. Gotta go... |
Thanks, Nori!
OMG - it works! I hadn't ever noticed the post reply. I had been using the advanced option, and it always took me to a different screen! LOL
Nori - your eating plan sounds great. I was reading posts on another forum about Jillian Michaels new book, and she recommends different percentage ratios depending on what kind of oxidizer you are. Not sure what that's all about? Have you read her book or The Zone? |

Argh!! I had typed out this HUGE post to everyone and it poofed into cyberspace somewhere. Story of my life, I swear, thank goodness it's Friday. ;)
Alright, so now I don't have time to redo it all I'll keep it short and sweet for now. Major congrat's to all the *losers* this week! You're all doing a fabulous job working your plans. Keep up the great work gang, you rock! So many of us are shrinking even tho' the scale doesn't agree. Just goes to prove, scales really are for fish! The proof is in the pudding, so-to-speak, the clothes are getting big, you're melting girls. :woohoo: My leg is MUCH better today. I did weight workouts this a.m. and will do cardio for an hour this afternoon. Feels good to be moving. Weigh in's on Sunday, 2 more days to feel the burn! :spin: Have a safe, healthy, and fun weekend everyone! Keep up the super effort, it's working and looks awesome on all of you! :grouphug: |
BATP is Blast Away the Pounds, it's probably just like WATP but with Denise Austin. I'm trying to make a grocery list and I need new items to buy...any suggestions?
I used some free time to read all the old posts today, Nori and Elizabeth great photos, thanks for sharing!! I'll try to find a digital photo of my husband Mike this weekend. How do you post, cut and paste? Catherine our sons and daughters are identical ages! Hope you get some time for yourself this weekend. I can't believe you work in a bakery, one of my favorite things is a poppyseed horn with icing on top :ziplip: Sarah: I've always thought of trying pomegranate juice, hows the taste? Is it sweet or tart? Taco Bell came back out with the crunch wrap supremes...someone is really testing my willpower   I need a good book to read and get my mind off of food!! Anyone have any suggestions, I like memoirs or fiction mostly. Has anyone read Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs? It's really good. My friend just read Angela's Ashes recently, good book but a tear jerker. I hope I can get online this weekend, I might need your support  especially with DH working tomorrow and me in the house with the kids and refrigerator all by myself. |

Mo - ;) OK, BATP - I've heard from 1 other gal that it's real good. I have some Denise Austin. I know lots of people find her annoying. I just did her Shrink Your Female Fat Zones this morning. Good toning/strengthening dvd. I upload my pictures to Photobucket.com and then to here. I haven't read anything good for a while. The Divinci (sp?)Code was the last one. It was good!! |
Mo - I love love love Pom juice. But I don't drink it straight because of the calories. I add a splash of it to iced green tea and it makes it amazing.
Nori - 1100 calories? I bet I've never eaten that few calories in a day. LOL That is too low. I've read no one should go below 1200 calories or your metabolism slows down. My friend had to go to a dietician, because she was barely eating, and not losing weight. The dietician told her she had absolutely slowed down her metabolism over the years with all of her crash dieting. So she had to start eating different calorie amounts on different days, and add exercise to shock her system back into working. I hope it works for her. Desert - holy cow do I lose everything in cyberspace. I swear my hotmail eats messages rather than sending or delivering them sometimes. Glad your leg is feeling better today!!!!!!!!!! Have a great day, and a great weekend, Everyone! |
Uggg, Danielle - I hate when I lose posts on the web... So happy your leg is feeling better. Take it easy. Getting hurt is one of my biggest fears now. What would I do if I couldn't work out? OMg, I'd have to eat less! I'm making sure to get a 1,000 calorie deficit each day and I'm able to do that because of all the cardio. I eat 1,400-1,600 calories a day. Burn about 600-900.
LOVE pomegranats! Have never though of splashing juice in tea though. Good idea. THanks. Thanks, Mo. I got some new Valentine's Day pics of the girls that I'll put up when I get time. I can never get my pics small enough to attach here. So I do the [img] thing and they are huge... |
South Carolina
Marine- I'm from SC, I'm not sure how it is where you live as far as good tourist spots but SC is pretty good. From where I live you head east a few hours and your at the beach, head north 2 hours and your at paramonts carowinds, head north west a few hours and your in the mountains about another hour and your in Gatlinburg TN (not sure if I spelled that right), head west and your in Atlanta GA, Southeast and your in Charleston SC. All of which are good vacationing spots so there's plenty to do with a not so long of a drive. I personally have been trying to talk my husband into moving up north cause I love the mountains and I like to see it snow, but he just won't budge.
|
Ugh!!
I've been trying to resize and upload Mike's photo but it won't work. I was able to put him in my "public gallery". He's the one grabbing Shakira's breast at the wax museum in NYC! The closest he'll ever get ;)

depressing
It is so depressing. My first week back on WW and I lost 7 pounds woo hoo and then I had the incident witht he brownies that my husband made and the next few days I couldn't stop eating so now I'm having to relose that weight. Stuff like that causes me to lose motivation. But so far I've done fine this week but I just started this day a few hours ago so we'll see how it goes. I have managed to eat more vegetables this week. Not that I enjoyed that at all. I've also recently realized people that I thought were friends are not friends at all. It's kind of depressing when your the last one to hear news about a friend and the only reason you were told was someone happened to think about it and decided to tell you. Oh well, with friends like mine, who needs enemies. I had been doing well on my eliptical. I had worked my way up to 15 minutes but this past week I've felt so exhaused I couldn't even last 5 minutes. I've even had trouble keeping my eyes open during the day. I just feel extremely drained. Anyway, I'll get better. My boys have been sick which couldn't have something to do with it but it seems as though they've been sleeping better lately so you would think I would be feeling better.
I hope everyone is doing well, I haven't really had a chance to read most of the posts but knowing the women in this thread your all doing great. |
Serena - for right now we're in 29 Palms, CA, and our next station is Columbia, SC. We got to go there last summer and check things out. Right now we're house shopping, which is really hard from so far away! LOL
|
Serena - don't let your friends get you down. They probably thought they had told you, and didn't mean it as an intentional slight. And the best thing about friends? You can always make more. Plus, you can meet people with your same interests, which is always fun.
Keep up the great work on the vegetables!!!!!!! |
snow, snow, snow!!!
Hello everyone! So how much snow has everyone got here on the east coast???We are about at 7-8 inches. We may get more I am not sure! Well, I finally found the BL exercise video. I found it at the book store. Anyways I did it this afternoon. I really liked it! I had some problems with some of it but I know that I will work up to it! I spoke to my doctor last night about the personal trainer. He was fine with it! I knew he would be! He is very happy that I am finally after all these years with him, taking care of myself. He knows that I have always taken care of everyone else first. I was always last. I have asked my husband to go with me for the evaluation with the trainer! He said he would take the time off to go with me. He has been so supportive. I want him to know what I will be doing and to help me open up to the trainer some. The trainer I chose works with the special olympics. That shows me that he has the patience and the ability to see the true self in each person. I have also been told by a friend that they have seen him train and that he is good! I am signing up for twelve sessions to start with. I will go twice a week so that will give me six weeks. I am looking forward to this! Well, things here at home are not so great with my FIL. I will not even post what is going on with him. Nighthawk probably has some ideas since this is what she does for a living! He is going down hill fast! We are afraid we are going to have to put him in a home sooner than we thought! I got to go hang out with some friends last night! Which was really nice. I convinced them to play Scrabble! I just love the game! My competitiveness came out and I whipped their butts! HE-HE! I had fun either way. It was nice to get out! Well, I have posted for awhile. It is getting pretty long! Hope everyone is doing well! Will write more later! Everyone have a good weekend and for those on the east coast enjoy the snow! Catherine |
Hey Chickies,
Good news today, at my weigh in I was down 2.6 pounds:carrot: New BMI (33) and I get to add another little dancer to my signature:dancer: I'm at 191.4 so next weeks goal to get the **** out of the 190's:lol: I had a fantastic day today got together with a friend and went for a long walk(2 hours) by the lake the weather was unbelivable not a cloud in the sky. Nori: I am so with you on the negetive self talk I have the same problem which the more I become aware of it the easier it is to fight against it. Erin: Congrats on losing that pound any scale movement down is a great thing but even better to feel it in you clothes and body I hope you have to take in your dress many many times;) I noticed today that I was sitting in a position that would have been difficult 20 pounds ago. Way togo turning down that sugered pop I work in a long term care facility and families are always bringing us chocolate.:dizzy: I found that since giving up sugar completely I am not even tempted thankfully:) Serena: I was lauging when i read how you can get to so many states in just a couple of hours driving If I drive straight north for about 12 hours I can visit my sis and she lives in the same province If I drive west for 5 hours catch a ferry for 1 1/2 hours and drive for another hour I can visit my other sis yep same province if I drive to the east for 7 or so hours I can get to Alberta and if I drive south for 3 hours I can get to Washington State. There is plenty to do though, I live in a recreation mecca I want to lose weight so I can take better advantage of all there is to do here. Take care of yourself maybe you are so tired because your fighting off some nasty bug sometimes it is more important to sleep then to exercise bonus you can't eat if you're sleepoing;) Catherine: Your hubby sounds like a gem good luck with the personal trainer I think it would be awesome to do that and 6 weeks is a length of time that will really get you into it. I feel for you in regards to you FIL it can be really difficult and heart breaking to watch someone you love fall victim to dementia, just don't ever feel guilty if it becomes more then you can handle. On the positive side maybe your FIL is effected by the full moon and will rally a bit in a few days. I have a few that get really challenging during the full moon. OH and I LOVE scrabble too. I got so far behind in a couple of days I know I missed people but :grouphug: to you all. You are the rocks that I lean on and my inspiration. Lori |
snow and snow
Well it is still snowing here - so much snow we actually may use the snow blower (typically 3 inches and under it is just easier to shovel it then dealing with a 5 year+ snow blower - it was my grandfathers. I also got a little reward yesterday I am replacing a 20 year old sofa in our "rec room" - Pick out a new sofa and loveseat set and it gets delivered Thursday if it can still have it carried around to the back to the basement with the snow I am not sure if we get it on Thursday.
Anyway I got some exercise in yesterday while hubby and son were napping - anything I can get helps. Lori - awesome job and the weight lost - I know you can meet next weeks glow no issue. Catherine - it is great your dh is going with you to the trainers. I love my BL workout it really gets me going I alternate through all the workouts at this point depending on what my body is up for the day. Serena - keep going on the elliptical remember 5 minutes is better than nothing. I am sorry about the friend things...talk to them and see if it can be worked out if you want the friendship sometimes it is not as it seems (been there sometimes myself). If not there is always a better person to be found and you always have us. Nori - I really liked Winning by Losing (J MIchaels book) I actually am going back to some of the things I forgot, but used when I first started like varying my daily caloirie intake to help avoid stalls. I also have a new one from the library regarding body shapes I will let you know about it after I am done. Well with the snow I hope to avaoid the comfort food binge that I have had in the past. We made brownies last night (I had one) and chili (made from very lean beef, ground turkey and chicken) which was very good and had the right amount of spice. I think this morning with be omlets - mine egg white with olives and mushrooms and one piece of cheese - some pepper and hot sauce and it is yummy!!!! have a good sunday girls and take care - :) |

working out
Well, I had said before how exhausted I had been feeling lately so I haven't even felt like working out but I decided I'm not really gonna worry about it right now. I'll try to work out if I feel like it but hopefully once I've lost about 20 pounds my energy level will increase and then I can start working out on a regular basis. Well today has been actually really good. Usually by now I would have consumed atleast half of my daily points but I've only used about 1/5 of them and I'm not even hungry. My mom is making homemade soup. She makes great soup. That should be low points.
Keep up the good work everybody. |
Snowy Sunday!! :snowglo:
Hello everyone, we've got a ton of snow here too, it is beautiful and the kids are outside now playing in it. I came to the family room to exercise while they're out and flipped when I saw the floor was covered with toys and junk (they had friends over Fri & Sat). Not wanting to have to call them back in after getting their snowsuits on I cleaned it up myself. They will hear about it when they get back, especially DS.
Serena: hope you get your energy back, and enjoy the soup ejb180: that chili sounds great!! Send some my way! nighthawk: 2.6 lbs!!! WOW! You rock! :goodscale Catherine: best of luck with the trainer, good idea bringing DH, you'll have reinforcement and support. I think being home with DH today might be a challenge, I was in a real bad mood with the family room mess and took it out on him. He asked me to throw him down a pair of socks. I told him I wasn't his personal laundry maid! I think I may have set a bad tone for the day! :bomb: Maybe TOM is coming? I dont get it often but when I diet it seems to come more regularly. Saturday: cereal, 6" subway, chicken w/peppers, salad, angel food cake w/ strawberries and FF coolwhip. Woke at 2:30 a.m. and had granola bar :( Points: 28 Water: 32 oz? Exer: none I did bring DD and her friend to the museum and did a lot of walking. My house is such a pig sty, I think that's why I'm in a bad mood. Well, I'm home all day, I'll try to get done what I can. I hear DH with the vacuum now. I made the chicken and peppers (chicken scarpiello) and it was very good, I lightly floured chicken cutlets then fried them in a little canola oil and 1 tbs. butter for a few minutes on each side, then I added cherry pepper rings and a 1/2 can of FF chicken broth and simmered for 5 more minutes. The 20 oz. package made about 6 cutlets (I butterflied them) and it was 6 points per cutlet but they were worth the points. I made a nice salad to go with them. I can't wait to eat the leftovers tonight! I was glad to see that feta cheese isn't too bad in points. A little feta goes a long way, I love it on my salad. Well tomorrow is weigh in day :crossed: |
recipe to share
I just made this and it's absolutely delicous.
8 oz. orzo pasta 1 cup chicken broth about 3 cups of broccoli florets (cut kind of small) 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper....or more 3 minced cloves of garlic 3 oz. feta cheese cubed or crumbled 1 or 2 chopped tomatoes 1 tbs. balsamic vinager 6 tbs. pine nuts (pignoli) 2 tbs. olive oil 1 tbs. butter salt to taste cook pasta for about 8 minutes and drain. Heat olive oil and butter in big fry pan, add garlic and crushed pepper and pignoli nuts. Cook on medium heat for a couple of minutes till pine nuts are toasty brown. Then add all your broccoli and about a cup of FF chicken broth. Simmer on low till broccoli is cooked and almost all broth is dissolved. If you have to...add more broth till broccoli is cooked. Put orzos in a big pasta bowl, cover with the broccoli mix, stir. Then top with tomatoes and feta cheese, drizzle about 1 tbs. of balsamic vinegar and salt to taste and stir. The whole huge bowl is 44 points. I don't know how many servings, depends on if it's a meal of a side dish. I'd say you'd get at least 4 meals or 8 side dishes out of it at the very least....it is so yummy. I just tried it warm but I'm sure it's just as good cold. BTW, I did 2 miles on BATP today, I'm building up some stamina! I'll talk to you all tomorrow. |
That recipe sounds great. WTG! on the exercise.
Take care all - good luck on Monday - here is to another week. Erin |
:coolsnow: :coolsnow: All you East Coasters be safe! We are done with snow here. :coolsnow: :coolsnow: Mo - Had to laugh at your DH with Shakira! Both of your recipes sound delicious! I will be making the pasta one this week for sure. Love pine nuts, feta, balsamic vinegar... I love to cook with flavors! Tonight we are having simple BBQ chicken though. Homemade sauce. Congrats on the 2 mile workout!! I hate when I get in bad moods too. I always say things I don't mean and then feel like a total loser. Erin - New furniture!! Now that's some serious reward for weight loss!!;) Hopeyou can get it on Thursday. YES, let me know how you like the book! Lori - congrats on your loss! (Where else do you actually "say" that to someone??) Donna - sorry you had a busy, busy week last week. Here's to a calm, good one starting tomorrow!:D You'll meet you goals this month, no problem. Serena - Hope your energy level picks up soon. Were you so tired before you started losing weight? Maybe you should get checked out, you know? Like simple tests for anemia? Sick kiddos do drain you though because it's usually 24/7 care. Are they any better now? I cannot freaking believe that my girls have colds all over again!! I haven't been to the gym since Tuesday. They just got over colds less than 2 weeks ago. Anyways, I need to get 8 hours or so of sleep a night. It's all broken up since Melina still eats at night. Catherine - glad you liked BL workouts. They will kick your butt!! But that's what we all want! Don't feel bad if you need to get outside help to care for FIL. Is he in good health otherwise? It gets to a point where it's almost impossible to do it alone, they sadly don't know where they are to know a difference, and there are so many nice facilities that will offer comfort and security. BTW - I LOVE Scrabble!!! Haven't played it in awhile though. My Mom and Grandma and I can play for hours... Well, got to go turn the chicken and steam some green beans. I had a good weekend. We each put the girls in carriers (backpacks) and went for long walks both yesterday and today. Tomorrow is weigh in for me. |
Hi Chickies,
I went for a lovely walk in the sunshine today then watched all the snow storms on the news holy smokes! Winters done here (except in the mountains) Erin: Thank you for the encouraging words. I love chili I make up a pot and take it to work to eat at 3:30 in the morning. The last pot I made I bought chili powder at the bulk food dumped some into the pot and it wasn't chili powder at all it was cayenne....flame on I ate most of it but let me tell ya it was a lip burner:hot: Donna: You will make your 1000 minutes no prob we're all rooting for you :cheer: I hope this week goes better for you workwise. Sounds like you're doing awsome with your food plan. Serena:Something I read and it works for me is to exercise for 10 minutes and after 10 I still don't feel like it I stop because I really am to tired and not just not feeling like it. But don't stess about it it'll come in it's own time. Maureen: Walking's walking outside or in a museum:D You'll do fine on your weigh in:cheer: The recipe sounds good but I think I'll skip the pine nuts :p Nori: You are so right no where else do I want to be thought of as a real loser:lol: Have a Wonderful Monday I am in for a rough few days workwise (I have 2 jobs) so I'm not sure when I will get back but I'll try for tomorrow. Monday
Hi! Well, I weighed in this morning and it appears I lost 1.5 lbs. :carrot: My ticker says a total of 8 because it rounds up/down. I came to work early today so I can get the kids off the bus so I left them all sleeping. I'll post DH loss when he gets up later this morning, I turned off the alarms because the kids have a 2 hour school delay.
Menu: cereal w/ blueberries, granola bar, 1/2 graham cracker and a few bites of angel food cake, chicken w/ peppers and orzo/broccoli salad. Lori: I can't wait to be able to soak up some sun :flow2: I'm actually looking forward to doing my BATP tonight. I need to download some songs on my MP3 to listen to while doing it. I knew that Denise Austin could be annoying but the DVD said it had a option to have no voice, just music but I don't see it on the menu. I'll just listen to music while following her. Does anyone know of some good earplugs? The ones that came with my MP3 are too big for my ears....the one thing small on me has to be my ear canals! :D |
I weighed in today and I'm dow 1.2lbs... I'm losing an average of 1lb per week but I think I'm gaining muscle right now...My legs seem to be stronger and I've been using hand weights to work out my arms...Also I have lost in inches cause my clothes are loose and I even bought a new pair of pants a size smaller...I'm also sooo excited I try on my favorite pair of shorts yesterday and they fit perfect...I have not been able to wear them for two years...
MoNewEngland - congrats on the loss...keep up the good work.. wishing everyone the best at weigh-in this week.. |
DH lost a little over a pound so we rounded it to 1 lb this week.
|
Maintained through the weekend!!! Even with hubby cooking yesterday - little options for me to keep on track when he cooks. I give hime Sundays and that can be my "free" day as long as I was good the rest of the week.
Have a great week girls. |
Heya Ladies ... remember ME? :dizzy: Sorry I've been MIA the last few weeks ... things with work have been really busy - I promise to make time to be here and be more supportive!
:carrot: Congrats to all the 'Losers'! I'll have to get caught up before I do personals ... so I'll be back in a bit to do some. Happy Losing! |
Thanks all for the welcomes! It feels great to have people supporing you and knowing there is a group of people here all with the same goal.
For those who remember my story I posted last week, I was doing really well on a diet until my boyfriend and I broke-up and I was gutted. I ended up gaining back about 14 pounds. The lowest I got when dieting was 187 June 2005. Today I weighed myself and I was at 193.8 The intersting news... The ex is living in Texas now and I haven't seen him since we broke up in June. He's coming to visit me this coming June. Roughly 18 weeks from now. It might be for the wrong reasons but I am DETERMINED to lose 34 pounds when he comes. That would put me at 160. I know it's a bit aggressive but he broke my heart ladies. We're still very good friends but it's important to me that I look better than ever when I see him. I am more motivated than I've ever been. |
Back on track
WHEW! I'm back ladies! And I only managed to gain 1 pound! I ate a fairly good breakfast every morning (milk&cereal with a banana) and I was proud of most of my food choices. However, I did give in to tempatation a few times - I ate a milkshake and a few brownies  but nothing too serious. I'm confident I will be able to get back on plan today!
I woke up this morning and school was canceled because of SNOW :carrot: so I will have plenty of time to catch up on all the posts I missed! |
