The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!
Hi & :welcome: to The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!!
My name is Elizabeth, I am 30 yrs old and live in N. Alabama. I have been an avid patron of the 3FC's website for several years, and a VERY new patron and LOVER of the Forums !! A little about me - I am married to J, have 2 stepgirls ages 6 & 4, and a Son who is 9MO. I work FT out of the home, and both my husband & I are on a mission to lose weight ! My mission is on The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!! ;) I have created this thread for anyone and everyone regardless of age, location, how little or how much weight you have to lose ! Here's a little about WHY I am on The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!! :D Well one of my BIGGEST resolutions was to lose weight in 2006. Plus my husband gave me a kick butt incentive !! :hyper: He told me that if I would lose 75% of my goal weight by November ~ We would go on a 7 day cruise of my choice!! How could I not be willing even more for that WOOHOO !!! So here's some of what I am doing: 1. Giving up sugar (which I've already done, thank the lord for Splenda) 2. Giving up caffeine & only drinking one soda a day (if that) 3. Exercising at least 30 mins at day (work in progress) 4. Allowing myself only 1250-1300 calories a day ! (currently doing) WHY do I want to do this ? 1. So I can be around to see my son, my step-daughters and future children grow up and have families. 2. To be more healthy ! 3. To look and FEEL sexy :o And of course there are a billion more I could put !! So that's what I am doing. . . I am really TRYING hard and so far I've lost 11 lbs since January 1st!! :carrot: SO. . . that's why I am on The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!! I am here to challenge anyone to be a part of this thread !! I will be here to ~ :listen: ~ I will be here to ~ :cheer: YOU ON!! ~ I will be here to say:goodluck: ~ I will be here to give you a BIG BIG  !! Come be a part of The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!! Hope to see you :grouphug: ~ |
Well today has been a good day for working on my Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style!!!
I have really tried hard to limit my caloric intake and get some exercise !! I was hoping that I would pop online and find someone had decided to join :( Here's to tomorrow ~ :?: |
Hi Elizbeth,
I jsut restarted my weight loss journey this year. I think I am off to a good start. I really am trying to stay on track (for meit is hard when my husband is out of town, like his is now). I just remember how well I have done the last week and half and remind myself I can keep going. I am doing this for myself, to be there for my son and husband. Like you I have incentive, it's not a cruise, but we are thinking of taking y son to Disney. Plus I have at least 3 weddings to attend this year (and one will be with a lot of high school friends). Incentive is also looking better than I did in high school; though I was not this heavy I still was big (I think a 16 or 18 in high school, my weight was about 225). Good luck and take care, E |
Hi E!!!!!!!!!!!
:welcome3: Thanks for replying and I am so glad to hear you are on your journey of weightloss. I would Love to hear more about how exactly you're doing it, and just what keeps you going ! Let's buddy up and take the journey together :carrot: Have a blessed day ~ |
Can I join too?
Hi there,
My name is Lisa, I'm 32 years old and I have about 50-60 pound to lose. Can I join the group too? I really need the support and would love to make new friends. Lisa :) |
Quote:
I am so excited to have you join in and be part of the fun !! What exactly are you doing to lose weight ? Or what's worked for you ? I am not on anything like WW's, Sonoma, SouthBeach or anything. Just counting calories, carbs etc, and exercising and drinking a BOATload of water !! :dizzy: Looking forward to getting to know you & sharing in the Journey !! ~ Elizabeth ~ |
Hi
Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks for the warm welcome! ;) I'm trying to cut down on what I eat, exercise, drink alot of water, cut down on soda and portions of what I eat. I try to work out as much as I can during the week. I'm going to head to the gym now for lunch. Talk to you later. Lisa |
:dizzy: Hi again
Hope you had a good workout at the Gym. Do you have one where you work, or are you a member somewhere ?! I guess you could say part of my exercise is chasing after my 9 month old son, Sam. :) We're also renovating a house, and doing about 95% of the work ourselves so that's good exercise too !! Sounds like you and I are both doing somewhat similar things. :carrot: Hope to hear more from you and about you :dizzy: ~ Elizabeth ~ |
Hi Elizabeth and Lisa!
Lisa might be somewhat familiar with my stats since we are both in another forum, but I will post them here too. I am 26 years old and need to lose 40 lbs. or so. One of my "last straw" moments was when I put on a dress to wear to my father's wedding and it didn't fit. Neither did the jeans I put on later that night. :headache: The worst thing about my eating habits up until this point was the fact that I would wait too long in between meals, not pay attention to portion sizes, and eat until I was STUFFED. The BF and I started the South Beach diet this past July and I lost 11 pounds in the first 2 weeks, but then it came right back and then some during phase 2. Now I am doing things more like you ladies -- no sugar or white flour products, eating good carbs (whole grain/wheat, veggies, low GI fruits, etc.), watching portions, drinking lots of water, and exercising. Elizabeth - your energy and excitement are refreshing! Keep it up, we need that! :grouphug: |
Hey!
Hi diva and Elizabeth-
Diva - small world huh?? Welcome to this group too! For my workouts I belong to a gym directly across the street from my job, so it's pretty cool. And very convenient to boot! Next week I'm going to start Taebo tapes at home in the mornings, then the gym at lunch, I need to kickstart the weight loss process!!! I've done well this week, 11 miles on Monday, 7.2 miles Tuesday, Thursday I did a 45 minute spinning class and today 7.5 miles. Good week!!!! ;) The challenge for me comes on the weekends, I tend to eat more at home than I do at work which is pretty bad considering how much I eat at work!! I just can't stop eating once I start dinner when I get home. I need to work on portion control big time. Well ladies, have a good weekend!! I'll be online again Tuesday. Lisa :carrot: (love the carrot guy - always puts a smile on my face) |
One more thing
I have to agree with Diva, Elizabeth - your attitude is very motivating and very much needed. Weight loss is such a difficult process (especially when your in your 30's like me!!!)
Diva - I also have to say I've had plenty of those "last straw" minutes. For me it was seeing pictures of me at a Christmas party and comparing them to last year's pictures. I had lost about 60 pounds or so from Dec. 2003-beginning of 2005. This summer, fall and winter, I packed that weight back on which makes me so sad because it took FOREVER to get that weight off in the first place. I was actually in a size 10 and happy. I became comfortable again with myself, my boyfriend and life and got way too comfortable with food yet again. This year will be different. Most definitely. Lisa ;) |
Hello!!! I would love to join your group! My name is Sarah. I'm married to J, and have 2 great kids. I'm 29, and have been completely unable to lose the weight from having my baby because I'm LAZY. I started going to WW, and let me tell you, when you track your points and stick to it, it's amazing!!! It works!!! But I got tired of writing everything I was doing and slacked off. So I need motivation in the eating right/eating well department.
I'm pretty good about exercising. I ordered the Transfirmer, and I'm starting with that full steam ahead next week. I also go to the gym 2-4 times a week and do cardio. Have a great day! |
Hi I'd like to join in also. I am 43, a single Mom (boy15) living in BC Canada
I have put together a graduated plan 1. No sugar (since Dec 28) 2.1 hour perday cardio (since Jan 1) 3.Eat in a healthy low fat, high fibre manner(Jan 1) 4.Weight training (Feb 1) 5.Start learn to run program (Apl 1 I do live in Canada have to wait 'til spring) I am also trying to journal I know how much it is supposed to help for emotional eating but I am pretty spotty about it. so far so good I have lost 13 lbs since Jan 1 so I am pretty happy about that, 60 to go. Hope to get to know you all better on the Journey Lori |
Hi guys, I would also like to join the group. I am 36 (just had a b-day on Jan 6) and married. I have two children and I work a full time job outside the home. I have lost 59 pounds since Sept. 2004 and need to loose about that much more to reach my goal of 175. I have not been 175 since high school. I have been off the wagon for a few months through the holidays and decided the new year was a good time to get started again.
My weight lose so far has been watching what I eat and diet drinks or water. I have also been walking and trying to build up my stamina again. It's really hard and the older you get the harder. I wish there was a miracle cure for metabolism but until then I will stick to the food portions and vitamins.:dizzy: |
Het Gang!
Hi Everyone.
It seems like I missed a lot since this morning. I can not get on at work (too busy!!!). I actually got ot go out to lnch today and I did so good!!! Went out with a girlfriend and got some sushi. Lots of different wraps, but I could not even eat "my share." I got full when there were three pieces of my half left and I would not eat them. I was surprised I was full for the day (she kept telling me I was going to get hungry). I then took my son and grandmother out to dinner. I will say there was some temptation, but quickly made the decision of grilled chicken, green beans, and a baked potato with ONE tablespoon of sour cream. I was pretty proud of myself. This is the first time I ate out a lot while counting calories and I am still way below my 1500 max. Actually right in the middle of range of 1200 - 1500. Right now am hoping to get some exercise in this weekend. To get a bit further, but really at this point all I have done is count calories and stop eating when I am full. Hope everyone else is having a good night - take care - Erin |
 I'd like to join too please!
My name is Stacye (of course) I'm 37 yrs old, married to G and I have an 11 yr old DSS (darling stepson) ... G and I have been together since 1998 and we own a land surveying company which allows me to work from home most of the days. I started losing weight in August as sort of a pre-GBS weightloss plan ... I don't think I really wanted to go thru with surgery b/c I ended up challenging myself to a 50 lb weightloss by Jan. 1st ... if I made this challenge then I would no longer consider surgery! Well, I lost 55 lbs by Dec 31st ... so no surgery for me ... Yippie! Oh and my hubby was VERY happy about that too - altho he supported my decision, he was far from being a fan of having it done! Over the years I've tried just about everything to lose weight ... most resulting in short term success and all resulting in weight GAIN! This time is so different than every time before, it's just a gut feeling I have that I'm going to make it this time! I'm sure y'all know what I'm talking about! My loss to date has been done the old fashioned way ... eating less and moving more! Whodathunkit!! It actually DOES work! lol I'm also counting cals ... I've recently 'revamped' my intake to 1600-1800 - which seems to be working ... after a few weeks of being platued, I've lost 5 lbs this week! My exercise consists of 3 days of 1 hr cardio and 2 days of 30 min cardio which then gives me the weekends off. This is a new plan so I'm anxious to see how things are going to work! Gosh, sorry for the ramble ... if I don't stop now I'll still be posting tomorrow! I look forward to getting know each of you! Have a great night! |
Hi Stacye - I just want to say welcome. You have done great so far and trust that gut feeling. Together this time we can all make it. It is funny, but since I feel accountable to those I meet on this site I am keeping on track and doing this.
My husband is out of town a lot - this time he will be gone for a week and half. My thought is to lose five pounds more before he comes back. Good luck - E |
Hi everyone! I'm brand new to 3FC, but I love what I've seen so far & this really seems like a place I can settle into & call home. Here's my deal:
I'm Lori, 34, from Indiana. I'm married to B (34). We have 2 grrlz (15 & 4), and a Yorkie. I work full time managing the business office in a skilled nursing facility. My husband owns a technology company. So we're both out all day, and frantic about getting things done each night & weekend. We've made some incredibly poor health choices over the years, and we're committed to fixing that now. This week we've made the swap: instead of eating out 5x a week as we had been doing regularly before, we cooked dinner at home 5x this week! :carrot: It's baby steps for me, because that's the only way it's going to work long term. If I make all the changes RIGHT NOW, I'll get stressed & things will revert. Can't have that! |
Hey Ladies :grouphug:
:welcome3: Diva, Lisa, Lori, Sarah, Lori, Erin, Stacye & Katrina !! I am SO excited that you all have decided to join The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style!! I was so happy to log on this morning (right now as I type this) to find even more Ladies wanting to start this journey and share in it !! :carrot: :cheer: WOOHOO for the weightloss :cheer: :cheer: WOOHOO for the exercise !! :cheer: I don't know about all of you, but I find it hard to believe that we are already 14 days into January 2006. I haven't weighed myself yet this weekend, but have designated my personal weigh-in day as Sunday. :o What all are your plans ? DO you weigh-in once a week, or bi-weekly ? :chin: I would love to get everyone's stats like SW, CW, & GW and create something to keep up with it, and maybe once a week we all get-together and I can post what everyone's been doing ?! That's up to you all of course, just let me know your thoughts, ideas, etc. :write: As always I am here to ~ :listen: ~ I am here to :cheer: you on ! ~ I am here to say :goodluck: ~ & I am here to give ~ ~ !! Thanks for helping build such an awesome support group, I feel so blessed to be a part of this !! Keep on :strong: :ebike: :wl: & :hun: right !! |
Hello everyone! Hope your having a great day! So far so good for me. I am taking care of my daughter (11) who has the flu, fun stuff huh! I am glad I finally found a group to get some support from. I think this will give me the kick in the butt I need to get back to it. I always do better with support and someone to share the weight lose with. My husband is not dieting and has no desire to so he could really care less.
Here are my stats: SW 289 CW 230 Goal 175 I would really love to be 150 but I'm trying to be realistic for myself! I really want to get the rest of the weight off before July 6th of this year but I would be happy with 31 pounds. My brother is getting married in New York and it will be the first time I will meet most of his girlfriends family. My brother is one of those 6' 3" "skinny" guys and of course his girlfriend is skinny along with her entire family. I inherited the fat genes. Enough about me. Talk to you guys soon. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!! |
Hi Katrina ~
Congrats on your 59 lbs weight-loss that is just AWESOME !!! :carrot: Thanks for sharing your stats, I have already started putting together a roster with everyone's real name, and name on here. I hope that is okay !! I also will only share info like stats etc, if it's okay with all of you, but hey mine are posted in broad daylight !! :dizzy: Katrina, I am so sorry about your daughter. The flu is NEVER any fun. I hope she recovers quickly. You're a great Mom to take such good care of her !! I look forward to hearing more about what you're doing and where you're headed !! Have a great weekend !! ;) ~ Elizabeth ~ HT5'3/SW274/CW263/GW150 |
HI all
I'm joining this thread in hopes to have a more prosperous new year with my weight loss, being around others who need to lose weight I think will be a godsend for me because I am surrounded by those who are perpetually thin. I don't eat healthy at this time and haven't ever found a "diet" that works, but have been on an appetite surpressant for about 3 months and have lost 15 lbs from it. Gained some back over the holidays. My question for anyone who can answer is, have any of you been on Adipex (phentermine) and lost weight, did well on the drug only to feel like it's no longer working? I feel hungrier than I used to on it, so I wonder if the effects diminish over time w/ the drug. ANyone out there used it before or are on any other drugs to combat hunger?
|
I'm joining in the FUN!!! My name is REDEFINITION and I have 75 pounds to lose My current weight is 235 and my goal weight is 160. I would even go as far as 150, but I think with my large frame, 160 would suit me just fine.
THE PLAN: (Exercise) I plan to work out 5-6 days a week by walking for 30-45 minutes on the treadmill. I plan to build up to 60 minutes and eventually start running. I will also add a video in, alternating between Tae Bo and Yoga Booty Ballet. (Nutrition) No definite "diet" that I plan to follow. I will simply use portion control. I plan to drink more water, eliminate sodas, reduce my sugar intake (Splenda is my new best friend!), eliminate fried foods, reduce processed foods intake.... I will do my best to eat better. |
Hi ladies.
Can I join too? I've been looking for a smaller group to join. I post at the 100 lb club but a smaller group would be nice too! My name is Ingrid. I'm 39 and a single mom to a 3 1/2 y/o son. I work a full time job as manager of a legal services company. Between 1/12/04 and 11/10/04 I lost 96 lbs but in the following 13 months I gained back all but 17 lbs. I've been back on track since 1/2/06. My weekly weigh in days are on Monday so I'm hoping to see a good loss. I lost 4 lbs last week and my goal is to lose 2 lbs per week, like before. I'd like to lose 151 lbs from where I am now. I'll be 40 this summer and there is no time like the present right? lol. My weight loss plan is 30 grams of fat or less a day, going down to 20 on days I don't work out and 25 on days I do after I start exercising again, which I plan to do when I lose another 29 lbs. (Until then the strain on my joints is too much. I know this from my last weight loss efforts). I hope to get to know everyone and help support everyone to their goal. Have a great weekend everyone! |
Happy Saturday Ladies!
Erin :: Thanks for the warm welcome and your words of support - you're doing a GREAT job as well! And you're right ... THIS is THE time that we will not be defeated - we're ALL going to do this! Support means everything! Lori :: Welcome to 3FC and our little gang of weightloss divas! Making simple changes like not eating out as much is a huge step! Congrats to both of you for making that decision together! Congrats on your loss so far ... what plan are you using? Elizabeth :: Thanks so much for the welcome and for starting this thread! Hey, I just noticed that we're pretty close in weight - cool! Well, not 'cool' but you know what I mean! :) So what part of Alabama are ya in? Katrina :: Aww, here's some   and *feel better vibes* for your little girl! Sorry she's all yucky and hope she's feeling better soon! Keep us posted. Congrats on losing 59 lbs to date ... you're doing AWESOME! JoAnn :: :welcome: I think we're all going to really love this group! Congrats on your loss so far - that's great! As for taking Adipex, I've never taken it, actually I've never heard of it - is it something your doc rx'd? When I was 12 yrs old my mother was using Dexatrim, we had a talk about it and I started taking them too ... Yuk, I hated how they made me feel and b/c of that I've never taken another diet pill. Other than taking the Adipex, are you on any other type of plan (i.e. WW, Calorie Counting)? Around Here :: Ya know ... I never thought about putting my stats in my siggy - maybe somewhere in the back of my head I was just embarrassed to do so ... well, not anymore ... I'm proud of the progress I've made and they're now there for the world to see! :D I'll go ahead and post them here too tho ... SW ~ 330 CW ~ 269 GW ~ 240 <(~ This is my MINI GW - Once I make this I'll decide how much lower I'll go. Well, I have a hair appt in about 30 mins so I best get going for now! You girls have a splenterrific Saturday ... be back later to check in! |
Had to give a BIG :welcome: to Redefinition & Ingrid before I left ... I look forward to getting to know you both! oh and Ingrid ... I know exactly what you mean about a smaller group! :)
|
I'd really love to join this group! My name is Katie, my current weight is 175 but I'm not sure what my goal weight should be.. I'm aiming for 155 and then I can go from there. This seems like a great group so far!
|
Hi newbies, glad you all could join us!
On the question about Adipex, I have never really taken a weight loss drug but I have found that with my age (36) and the ups and downs of my weight, a B complex vitamin daily has really revved up my metabolism. I thought it was completely gone until a month after taking it I started loosing again. I think you have to change things every once in a while to get things going again. Hope this might help some of you! |
Hello to all you wonderful Diva Ladies !!

Sounds like you're on your way !! Joann, WELCOME WELCOME and I hope you continue doing what you're doing. As far as Adipex or anything like it - I have taken it several times through the years. And :thanks: for making me feel so blessed to have met each of you !!! to OUR FUTURE !!!! |
Hi All,
I am so excited to be part of this group! I think that we'll be a great source of inspiration and encouragement for one another. I am a little overwhelmed at trying to keep everyone straight in my head as I read all the posts but I am sure it will get easier as I get to know you all. Elizabeth: Thanks for the welcome I think the stats roster is an awsome idea. Mine are SW:213 CW:200 GW:140 HT:5'4" Redefinition: I am also planning on running my start date for that is Apl 1 when I will start a walk to run program maybe if that fits around your targeted start time we could work together on that. How is that Yoga booty Ballet? I saw it on a infomercial and thought it look interesting. Other Lori;) I so hear you on the babystep thing In the past I have always jumped into everthing all at once got overwhelmed and unable to make it past a few weeks so like you I am gradually adding permanant healthy changes to my life. I can't remember who asked about the weighting in but I weigh myself almost everyday. Sat is my official weighin day so fluxuations during the week don't worry me too much but I have a bit of an anal compulsive side to my nature so I can't stay off the scale for a whole week :o Have a great day everyone and I will try to keep up with all the action here:cb:  Lori |
Hey Gang,
Well I came from hanging out with my cousing today. Awesome time together. We went to my sister's for the football game. Redskins lost - that is a real bummer to me anyway. I did good with all the football party yummies that were around. I had one Miller light, 3 steamed shrimp and 1 tortilla chip. So I know this is something I can do. I have overcome some of the hardest things I faced in the past - eating out and going to parties. (OK, it is only once or twice, but knowing I can do it one time means I can do it going forward.) I found out the "almost official date" for my cousin's wedding. It is July 1st and will be in Florida (which means Disney will be pushed to this time period). So I am trying to think was a realistic goal for this wedding will be. I am 284 right now and I have about 5 months to go. I do not want to be overly zealous because I know we will have high and lows through this process. I am thinking 225 which would mean a bit about 12 pounds a month. This is actually about were I was when my sister got married and everyone thought I looked good since I had lose about 40 pounds for that wedding. I know I am doing this for me, but part of me really wants to use this to show myself off to my family. Any thoughts. MommaAshley - my stats - SW - 301; CW 284; GW: 150 (180 by the end of the year). weighing on Sundays and usually once during the week. Have a good night everyone and take care - Erin |
Good Morning everyone!!!
Thanks goodness it's a new day. My daughter is doing better. I found out yesterday she has a severe case of strep throat instead of the flu. The fever made it seem like the flu. We have the antibiotics going. I did really good yesterday, I ate right and walked on the treadmill but then for dinner I ruined it. I had too many slices of pizza with my no fat salad. I have craved pizza for the past month. The pizza is gone thankfully and my craving is over. It's time to get back too it. I hate it when I do that to myself. Do any of you sit and think "I don't need to be eating this" while you shovel it into your mouth? I just wish the mouth would listen to the brain. On a better note, I'll have to do double on the treadmill today. I really don't have a certain day I weigh in. Usually I get on it each morning before I get ready for work. I know this is not a good thing but it's keeps me on track. Hope everyone has a great day! |
Good morning everyone.
Ever feel like you're DYING to weigh yourself?? Tomorrow is my weigh in day and I'm so anxious! My goal is to lose 2 lbs per week and I'm 99% positive I did this week. I've been very good, haven't gone over my fat grams at all. I actually weighed myself on Friday night (BAD ME! lol) and I weighed the same as on my Monday morning weigh in so that's a good thing since I normally weigh 3-5 less in the morning than at night. I'm just hoping for my 2 lbs and anything else is fabulous! Hope everyone is having a good weekend, making good choices and feeling great! Talk to you all soon! |
Happy Sunday
Hey gang,
Thought I would check in before the games and heading over to my mother in law's for a birthday party. Katrina - I am glad that your daughter is feeling better now that she has the medicine. It sounds like at least it did not go on too long before you found out it was strep. There were plenty of times when I was eating and I was not hungry and I would think to myself I should not be eating, why?, or some similiar thought. Now, if I catch myself doing that I try think it through a bit longer and see if I am really hungry. I do give in to temptation, but I try to limit how much and when I give in. Hope everyone is doing well and take care - Erin |
Oh wow...I am soooo going to have to go back through here & make some notes & sort everyone out. LOL I'll get it, don't worry! In the meantime, I'll refer to "somene said" a whole lot. :)
Someone said something about drugs, and I wanted to throw my 2-cents into the ring because I have taken Meridia. I took it for 2 months, almost 2 years ago. The 1st month was fantastic, I conquered my constant hunger, and also lost 12 lbs. (which of course I've since gained back + more) The 2nd month was awful: I was engulfed in a cloud of depression unlike anything I'd ever known. Since then, I've struggled with depression issues. There very well be no correlation, but in my mind there is a very big connection (and after all, that's what matters, right?) |
Good afternoon everyone!
I watched the National Body Challenge yesterday. When a nutritionist came into one family's house and removed all the unhealthy food, I realized I have been eating too many unhealthy things and relying more on exercise to lose weight. I'm glad they showed some healthier replacements, like ground turkey instead of regular ground beef, etc. Looks like I have some shopping to do! |
Welcome to all of our new LOSERS! Did you ever think you'd like being called a loser? LOL Well, it's a nickname I'm striving to earn now. I don't think I ever posted my stats, and I don't have an accurate before weight, but right after the baby was born is the number I'll use.
Ht - 5'8" BW - 225 CW - 203 GW - 170 I'm using WW to count points, and I'm exercising. However, I must admit I can be very lazy about journaling my food. But when I journal and count my points, I lose! It makes such a big difference looking at everything you eat in a day written down on a sheet of paper. today, I got up early with my husband (he's a marine) and when he went to "PT" I did the first video of the Firm's "Transfirmer" series. WHOA - kicked my butt, I have to tell you. By the end of the video, my kids were awake, and my 4 year old did the bonus stretching session with me. LOL-that was a sight to see. As for weight loss drugs, I took Xenical once for about 3 months before my wedding. I only lost about 5 pounds, because I didn't make the lifestyle changes necessary to lose and keep off weight. After getting married, I really packed on weight. I have 2 dear friends who took Phentermine. One, she was a size 18 when she started. She got down to a size 10, and looked AMAZING! However, as soon as she quit taking it, she gained all the weight back, and is now a size 26. My other friend took it, and lost and kept off 10 pounds. Right now, I'm trying the natural ways of boosting my metabolism. I learned that the more muscle you put on, the more calories you burn all day. So I bought The Firm series since it combines strength training with cardio. I take a multivitamin, a b-complex vitamin, and I only drink water and green tea. (And to my green tea, I add a little shot of POM juice - it makes it sweet without artificial sweeteners, and adds a great boost of anti-oxidant vitamins.) I just got serious today about sticking to everything. My weigh in day will be Mondays. I will post again on Monday with a gain/loss report and let you gals know how my loss is coming along!! Here's hoping by next we'll all be losers together!!! Sarah |
I could've SWORN I posted in here today......
 .....but maybe I need to cut back on my threads so I can keep track!
I did so well Saturday, I didn't really sit down at all! After our 3 mile walk, we came home and I started cleaning up around the house a bit and felt really energized. I spent some quality time with the BF and then we went out and ran some errands. After that we went to a local hangout and waited out a rain/snow shower until around midnight. Even though I drank water in between drinks, I guess I had one drink too many and was sick when I got home. I also must confess that I smoke socially when I am out having a cocktail or two, so it could have been too many of those as well. At any rate, I was VERY lazy yesterday and spent most of the day on the couch! Stuck to good eating, though, although I DID have sushi and I know that is FULL of carbs. AS FOR WEIGHT-LOSS DRUGS - my two cents goes something like this: Just Say No. :smug: I have tried Xenadrine, Dexatrim natural, One-a-Day w/EGCG or whatever it is called - all of them made me TERRIBLY sick. Some caused heart palpitations and others gave me HORRIBLE stomach cramps that sent me to the ER. I have never tried the prescription kinds, though. FOR ALL OF THE NEWBIES SINCE I WAS HERE LAST - :welcome3: !!!! And to make it easier, I have written my stats and current weight-loss/getting in shape methods all in my public profile - I know, it's a lazy thing to do, but I figured for those of you who already know my stats and story, you don't have to keep seeing it! LOL  How is everyone doing today? |
Here for the party!
Greetings to everyone! I am here because of an invite . Thank you very much! I have only been on the site for a few days but I have found it to be amazing. Everyone is amazing also. This is going to be tremendous help. I have been in touch with some of you already, I plan to keep in touch. I will post all my info later. I worked a 2am shift today and I need to go to sleep. I am just pooped! Lots more later! Catherine :thanks: |
More motivation for me
Well as some of you know that I have a few weddings to go to this year and that is part of my motivation to stay on this weight track path. I know have been give another date (of course, earlier than another wedding I have to go to). June 3rd. This is a friend I have known my whole life (literally - he lived down the street from me and our parents are good friends). So there will be people from high school I have not seen since then (more motivation).
I have a long drive tomorrow to go to an office to help with some tech issues so I will not have much time for exercise, but I have learned to watch the calories on the road. I also I have my first exercise dvd coming from netflix on wed so I will have something new to get into. I figured this way once I get bored I will return it and make sure another exercise dvd is on the list waiting to come out. I was feeling a little tired and sick today, besides that all is well. I am down another 2 pounds to 284. Ok - as an update _ i just order my dress for all my events- the first thing is at the end of Feb, then we have the wedding in June & July - it is a size 20 (currently evening gowns I have bought were a 22 or 24) so I hope it will fit by the end of Feb. I figured I could always take it in as I lose for the other wedding. Plus I bought the matching shawl to help hide the bumps when I first can fit into it and help as it gets loose. |
