I'm moving through Day 16. So far, so good, and I don't expect to give in to any sudden urges...I even got to the gym and did a bit of weight training and jogged 3 K. It seems like a lot to me now but it is about half what I used to do. If just shows how little I had been doing recently...which shows how no doubt important it is to keep track of things. Even like with this challenge and me going...it's so slow, so slow!!...shows how we forget just how little or how much we do. Perception certainly gets skewed.
silly -- Okay, so you're getting the ball to do situps. Fair enough. You know you can also do good pushups on them but putting your feet up on the ball and doing the pushups off the ground. It's hard though and very tough if the ball is a big one. Great for the abs too.
carla -- Glad to hear from you!! Well, sounds bad, but how is the pain? No mention of that so I take it they have you on painkillers. Just think you'll no doubt be feeling better each day.. Hang in there. Congratulations for staying on your challenge through all this! Don't blow it now, and I'm not talking about your nose... You still have one pause day left, which is better than me. Get well soon!
Yes, 15 days with no chocolate. It's a good thing that I started when I did, because the cantor at the temple where I sing for Yom Kippur always gives us chocolate at the end. So my challenge will almost be done, and then I can indulge.
I also am proud to point out that I've changed my avatar because as of 530am today (I weigh in on Mondays), I have lost 70 pounds! Yay me!
Redballoon - I'm glad my ab success has inspired you. Keep it up! You will see results much sooner than you think, and you will blow your own mind!
I just checking in was on day 12 then got really sick and decide to stop until I am better .. bleh. I should be starting in a few days waiting on my asthma to stop. Wil post once I feel better and stop all over again.
Hi everyone! It sounds like everyone had a productive weekend. Carla, i hope your nose feels better soon!
Today was day 19 for my pushups! i only did 10 today though.
Back to day one for my calories. I did well for the first 4 days, and then completely blew it both saturday and sunday. If it was just saturday, i would have taken a pause day, but since it was both days, i am starting over. I HAVE GOT TO BE BETTER OVER THE WEEKENDS!!! I am so angry at myself. I do this every weekend. I thought that if i made this my challenge i could force some control into my life. I don't know why i eat so much on the weekends? Every monday i am sick and sad and angry with myself. I tried to get my sister to go hiking with me sunday to get out of the house and not eat, but she didn't want to go because everything was all muddy. (I am not blaming her, only myself) so i did 45 minutes of pilates, which burns hardly any calories, and then ate probably 2500 calories total.
I am going to try again this week. i just wish i could make it through one weekend and actually lose some weight. i thought it would be easy to lose five pounds each month. I don't know now.
Congrats on your PUSH-UP success!!!! I feel very ashamed that I have not yet begun my first challenge.... My excuses are many, but basically I'm just too overwhelmed from work at the moment
The only thing that is keeping me from sticking my head in the oven, is the fact that my skirt just zipped right up and is actually loose! This MUST mean I am smaller. (or that I have dehydrated myself)
Thanks Redballoon, the dog's bowel's are back to normal, he really tries to be good, I just leave old bathtowels down when I think he might be ill. I'v had him on a very bland diet.
welcome to melody and purple....
CARLA, yup, i forgot to mention the nose-blowing tabboo, you might knock out the stitches if you honk....I actually went shopping & to work with my nose taped up (the percocet tends to not make you care)...and btw, it is VERY important to have both nostrils working so you take in enough oxygen and burn more calories. A bit of emu cream might take away the bruises (that blue stuff was a god-send, I was completely black/blue on both knees and my entire left arm--it really helped lessen the pain when I applied it even to my face) In NJ you can get it at Wal-mart, I think it's called Blue-Emu about $15.00 for a 4 ounce jar.
So now I think I've got the challenge protocol down, all I have to do is get started.....
Day 1: My goals are to: 1. write down what I eat and 2. post here every day. I am at work, but will write down what I eat today when I get home. So far I have had a Kashi bar for breakfast, and a ham/cheese on wheat bread sandwhich and an apple for lunch.
I hope everyone is having a good day. I started out the day with a killer headache, but it is getting better now. It is so hard to work with children when you have a headache. Well, it won't be long until 3:30pm and then I will be on my way home.
I hope everyone else is doing good with their 21-day challenge. Anyone else on day 1 with me?
Good morning, all. Let's see. What day is it? Ah yes, Day 17. The start of Day 17 and I have to be in the office today. Well, didn't have to be but had an enforced press holiday yesterday for which I lose pay but was able to substitute for someone today so I decided to go in. It is already going on 6 a.m. here and I have to get out to go to the gym. I went yesterday as well, so may be pushing it, since I'm just getting back in the swing of things but I can adjust how much I do at the gym. So, wish me well, these last days are ****. I don't think I will blow it and go all the way back to Day 1 but they are a drag...
Melody -- Glad to see you here and good luck with your goals. Too bad about the headache. I wonder what you're getting them from? Hope you feel better! :
marble -- Hello! Glad to see you too. What's up?!! Why the head-in-the-oven talk? Well, I certainly can relate. Things are **** here too but I am just NOT going to focus on the sh@t!! You too, yes, focus on that skirt zipping up. That should at least be good for a few nice feelings, no matter what the reason why the skirt is zipping up!! Go for it!! Get them any way you can!! the good feelings that is.... I want to see you on a challenge! Come on, pick something super easy. Pick something that will get you feeling good and focusing on what is right in your life and there are many things, to be sure. marble, I am sending you waves of energy!!
Fish -- Congrats on your pushups! Look at how much stronger you are now! And heh, come on, stop with the punching bag routine. My take on things is that you are being WAY TOO restrictive during the week and your body is retaliating over the weekends. This is inevitable. It is trying to stop you from starving yourself. You were eating like 1,100 calories and that is way too little if you are at all active and at 148 pounds! You can only cut back by about 500 calories a day (more you can burn with exercise). If you cut back on your intake by more than this (and yes, it is hard to figure out just how much you were eating on the average) your body will go into survival mode and there is NO ONE strong enough to fight the body unless you become mentally ill and anexoric and we certainly don't want that. The mind is the ultimate controller and will win in the end. Don't try to fight it. Work with it. Anyone can lose weight by just not eating and all will look well for a while, but do you know how many people put it all back on plus more?!!? Most. I really think you should try eating about 1500 calories a day, NO LESS and make that good wholesome food, not processed things, even if it's not junk. When I do this, I do not go hog-wild and I do not sit there with visions of me jumping at peoples' plates and grabbing their food away from them as I do when I really restrict my calories (and I'm talking restrictions to 1,800 calories!) Well, good luck Fish, five pounds a month is NOT easy, not at your weight. Try to relax a bit. You are so much more ahead of the game than the vast majority of people.
Sweet -- What is this?! So many people feeling down and out, getting sick...wow.... Well, I hope you get better real soon. The changing seasons perhaps..oh, asthma, I get that too, when any dust kicks up in my room and there is tons! Hope to see you on a challenge real soon!!
friends -- Sure not seeing much of you these days, are we? But that's okay, you're sticking to your challenge nonetheless AND I love the new picture under your name. Tell me your son's name again. He's SUCH a cutie!!!
curly -- Excellent work!! You didn't make excuses. You put your head down and did the work!! Hurrah, Hurrah!!
Chaps -- A big hand to you for MORE than two weeks done AND for the weight loss! Ah, it must feel great!! You are SOOO close to your goal. Wow. I didn't do the ab work yesterday because I was really sore. I really did a lot the other day and I don't want to hurt anything and didn't feel like just doing a little. It's not my challenge so I will allow more recuperation....also, I was doing triceps and they work my abs too on the pushdowns. But, yes, thank you for the inspiration. I think I will make an ab challenge for my next round. I really need something to blow my mind!! The people at the temple are going to be astounded to see the new svelte you. They will probably be wondering if they should give you chocolate or not.
Thanks Redballoon.....I needed that good swift kick! MIA CULPA!!!!!
Right now I'm focusing on not to filet the skin off my arm (poison ivy) and hope the new steroid cream I'm picking up at the pharmacy will work.
If I can get my carpet clean enough to lay on tonight, I will feel better too.
OK, in Carla's absence I will pick up a new *easy challenge* that most 5 year olds can do (and this time i'll start too, talk is cheap!).....hmmmm? One set of 15 step-ups (each leg) every AM with my 8 lb. dumbbells. One set of bicep curls with my 10 lb. dumbbells and anything else is gravy.
I was just wondering if this group ever does bios so we can get to know each other? I can type up the questions and post them if you all want to do that.
Melody? what is bios? to me it is a chip in the computer!
DAY 2 FINISHED - SODA = ZERO!!!!
My addiction was not the soda, i have no cravings for any normal soda! (ie. lemon squash, creaming soda... etc). My addition was for the 400-500 mg of caffeine i was consuming!
I think i have passed the need for it (although yesterday I had a hot chocolate!)
I have started doing abs, but for now i am only do a workout on them from mon to friday. so I can have the weekend to recover!!!!
And that is what i do with most of my exercise. mon-wed-fri is cardio, ie treadmill or bike. tue, thur is weights. weekend is whatever!!
