  • busy, busy....
Good morning, all. I am sooo busy, but since my computer is working again, I want to keep up here. I think I am going to take one more day off just because I have so much to do and want to resolve any residual silly ideas I have about eating some things I may want to eat. I know I have the pause days but I want to try to not use them except in emergency situations this time (though I do plan to use them..) So, wait another day for the new thread. Old thread/new thread though, it really doesn't matter. Our challenges start any day! And...as some of you can testify...we can find ourselves starting again at any time....

Apple -- Where have you been? I was wondering about you. Actually, the action has been a bit sparse around here over the last few days. Like someone said, a lot of people are between challenges...Well, too bad you had to start over, but I'm glad to see you're back up and determined to crack the whip! Don't wait for anyone to start with. We all end up on different days anyhow. Like, I said, the threads simply change because they get long and I like to change them when I start a new challenge.. Good luck!

marble -- Congratulations on Day 7!! 11 mins. OK! Don't know where carla went...don't think it's the gazelle. But coach or no coach, or you can do this on your own...you have all of us!

Fish -- Ok, another restarter...it's hardly a failure though, is it? 35 calories is but a blip. But yes, those fries would pack on the calories. I don't see how you can stand to eat so little if you're eating such calorie dense food as fries! Your stomach must be growling all day. I know I'd be getting that crazed look!

mez -- Oh, yes, I registered your tantrums. It's been chilly here the past few days and I figured something was up. I didn't have the pasta. Maybe today. That's an idea. Kind of hard to get pasta though near where I work and I think I better drag myself to the office today for a substitute shift and some extra cash. So, did you make it through Day 2 yet?

  • Its me again. I'm going to cut down on coffee too. Down to one cup a day, if any. Should be an interesting week.....
  • Morning all,

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. Might be a good idea to start new challenges soon since the Christmas stupid season will be starting around the middle of November. I got an invite to the project Christmas party yesterday - it's on the 16th November. Ye gods.

Still more or less trying to stick to the challenges I set myself last time around. I know the exercise is now a habit. I wish the portions and water were, I wish the flab around my middle would suddenly vanish in the middle of the night, but no it is right there annoying the heck out of me every morning. Weigh and measure time before I go away as well. Doubt that much has changed this month, in spite of the days of being good and exercising etc.etc.

Only 8 days now to my holiday. I am really looking forward to it. I need this break. I've put your phone numbers in my travel book Red so I won't forget them. If I can get to Tokyo I will, but I must say it is not likely at this point.

I hope the gazelle ladies are all swinging away on their gliders. I use the elliptical at the gym. Sure does move those hips and legs.

Marble - sounds like a fun movie. I'll look out for it over here. Haven't heard anything about it yet but hey, I'm not a great movie fan anyway.

Hello and good luck to all others starting over or just plodding along. It was never going to be easy, but us strong women will prevail.

Gotta go and strike a blow for the taxation office.
  • Day 2 completed! I am going to make it to Day 21!!! I am eating apples before my meals and eating much less. I had an apple and a slimfast bar for breakfast, an apple and a chef salad for lunch, and a Grilled Chicken Sandwhich for supper...no time for anything else since I had graduate class tonight.

I hope everyone else had a good day.
  • Congratulations, Chaps, on getting through your challenge! WAY TO GO! You know, I noticed the same thing about chocolate after I did the challenge (although I confess that I went back to my chocoholic ways .. I truly am starting over from nothing again!) it really doesn't taste as good after you break the habit. Except dark chocolate M&Ms. Those are delicious no matter what! Thankfully, they're rich enough that just 2 or 3 will satisfy a craving.

Curlylocks, you're more than halfway there - keep it up!

red, I'm glad you were able to get your computer fixed. I don't understand the darn things, I'm so glad my hubby does. You better get started on a new challenge, missy. You're the fearless leader!

marbleflys - $60 for lights? Yikes. A good reminder to never go to the dealership - I remember after my old car had a blowout, the dealer claimed it was a complete loss, but I got it fixed at another mechanic. It was several thousand dollars, but it wasn't totalled the way the dealer claimed.

sillyfluff, the "post every day" part is actually a decent challenge. That can be a hard one to keep up with, I know, and it's so important to have the daily inspiration and accountability.

friendsforfitness, I'm interested to hear what you think of the gazelle. I'm a big fan of the elliptical trainer. Please post a review .

mez, shove that embarassment aside and jump right back in. If I can, you can. Your hubby drove 2 hours to get your vitamins? Wow, what a guy - that's seriously a sweet thing to do. What a supportive man! Not weighing yourself for 21 days, huh? You have willpower of steel.

Melody, glad you're through day 2. You will absolutely get to 21, one day at a time.

fishwoman, that's my challenge too and it is kind of hard! I was doing really well staying below 1600 but, um, stopped doing it and now I am hungry again the way I was when I first started dieting. I think it's hardest when you're SO close. You can do it though!

AppleBlossom, I'm sorry you had to start over again. The sit=ups would be a big challenge for me, I'm impressed.

Shad, I echo what you said about wishing the flab would just vanish. I hate my doughy tummy. Everywhere else really does look better than it did, but the tummy is gross. I wish it would just go away but, of course, it's not that easy.

Well, Day 3 is done. And I exercised today! I walked 45 minutes from my last class to my car - all the way across campus and then off campus to my parking lot (which honestly feels like it might as well be in egypt, for how "convenient" it is to the school with traffic and construction). But, complaints aside, I did it and it felt really good. If I can make that a habit every day, that will get me a lot closer to my 4-hours-per-week goal. So, I'm at 90 minutes so far for exercise this week.
  • Make it through - Day 2 barely DH came home from work sick and totally through my day off.
  • Just a quick drive-by hello. I'll try to post tomorrow - Coach Carla and I have been lazy/busy/uninspired/pigging out... But I'm fine. For some reason I keep hearing that old song "Neun und neunzig luft ballonen" (sp?) and think of our leader and wonder if the balloons in question are also red...
  • Day one.
My challenge is to exercise once a day. Start small and work my way up. I did the Gazelle today. I also found out it's not the Elite, they gave me a book to the Elite but it's actually the Freestyle.

Grey- My review is..."OWWWWW" . It's much harder than it looks. I did feel some discomfort in my right knee, so we will see later on how bad it gets. I'm not sure if I like it yet or not. I will feel really bad if I don't like it and have to take it back. I just want to be sure I actually use it. I could really feel all my weight bearing down on my ankles, kwim? Maybe I'm just looking for excuses. I don't know. I wish I just had someone to go walking with, really slow at first though. This sucks. I hate it that I am this out of shape again.

I hope everyone has a good day,
    Lisa
