Icedragon - Welcome to our little thread. I'm sure you can do 21 days without diet soda. I'm doing 21 days with no chocolate, and I'm already more than halfway done, so I know you can do it.
Apple - That's awesome about doing situps. 2 days in a row is exactly how a habit starts, keep it up. When you start to see the results, and you will, it will make you all the more motivated.
Redballoon - I am indeed still doing abs, though sometimes I don't get them in every day. The greatest thing about it is that the challenge really helped me make it a routine, I just do it most days. AND - even better - it has launched me into the world of strength training, which I was hoping it would. During the second week of the challenge, I started adding inner thigh lifts. Toward the end, I added pushups (just a few). This week, I have been doing the full abs routine, inner thigh lifts, pushups, squats, and lunges! I feel awesome!
ICEWINE? ICEWINE? ooohhh, never had it but just hook me up to the bottle!
Carla--I'm thinking of you and your nose today, sending good vibes and happy thoughts! Hope things go smoothly and you are pain-free.
RB--thanks for clarifying, I read the instruction manual on Page one, but still didn't get it...Perhaps you could forward the book.....21 Day Challenge for Dummies?
I can't seem to get going on STARTING my challenge, it's like obstacle city! My HUGE dog had a HUGE accident on my freshly shampooed carpeting, I was greeted by it when I got home last night, so I spent an hour cleaning up. As I was vaccuuming this morning, he did it AGAIN...(I guess he didn't want to bother me to take him out while I was cleaning)...So this morning I also cleaned the carpet! working out was the last thing I could do. I can't *yell* at him, he's 10 years old and I work long hours. I just gave him a very light dry diet for now.
and work is kicking my butt, Ihave deadlines up the whazoo to meet...so I'll be back later. Hope I can bring my motivation with me!
Well, today is the classic example of why you should avoid the scale. I did great yesterday (completed day one, finally!) and so I was excited about stepping on the scale this morning, expecting at least the same usual weight but I am up a pound and it has put me in a FOUL mood.
It's just my normal weight flux I guess, a little water retention or something. But I'm MAD. *sigh*
Plus I'm faced with the week-end hazzards now.
Ughh. I wish I could just go back to bed.
All this wine talk! I live an hour from Napa and I hardly ever go there. Not exactly kid friendly. My husband and I were planning on going for our 10th anniversary but he was sick, so we've post-poned. Probably until our kids are in high school.
Ok, I'll spare you all my grumpiness. caio for now!
Well, we didn't walk at 4am like usual cuz it was STORMING bad! SO instead, we got up at 10, had breakfast, went to the shopping center (needed another pair of khakis and another shirt for work) and we walked there. 45 minutes.....a little over a mile!! WOO HOO
Gotta work this afternoon, but while I'm there I'll think about my next 21 day challenge. My boyfriend has an "idea" *he says* about what it should be, LOL, and I'm sure most of you can guess what he suggested LOL...
Today was day 16 for my pushups; i did 11 in a row. Yesterday was day 3 for staying under 1500 calories. I had 1204 total.
Thanks for letting me know about the pause days. I was under the impression that you had to complete a 21-day challenge to earn a pause day. Another question (so i don't have to find challenge #1). If i use a pause day, is it gone for all future challenges? Or just for the current challenge?
Curly locks - i bet you are so excited about your gazelle! how long until it arrives?
I am off to workout. Have a great weekend everyone!
It's Saturday.... luverly Saturday. I woke at 5.00am and it is daylight out there now at that time. I've been out in the the garden since then weeding a bad patch of ground which is going to be concreted and have that concrete stencilling done on it. Have to sort out the pennies and get it done this summer. So I have done an hour in the garden this morning, cooked a chicken and done all the housework. Am I virtuous or not??
Today is 2 hours at the gym,
Low carb and portioned food (hence the chicken)
Lots of water (shouldn't hard - today will be hot)
And I will sand some of the ceiling in the dining room today too.
The ceiling isn't part of the challenge but if I write it in there, I may be more inclined to actually do it.
Breakfast this morning was some luscious strawberries with lo fat natural set yoghurt. I'll have to do some shopping on the way home from gym to get bread and milk and things. The hot part of the day will be spent cooking up some meals for the freezer. My son is looking after the house and cat while I am away so his good little mummy will put some meals in the freezer for him to fish out when he gets home. It may also help to keep the house a bit tidier as all he has to do is throw the package in the bin. No dishes to do. My son is not particularly domesticated.
Fishy you are going well with this challenge. 11 pushups. Well done.
Silly - good going on the walking. It makes a good change to go a different way occasionally. Biggest problem on walking to the shops for me, is having to carry it all home again. I always buy more than I expected.
Apple - you'll get to Napa Valley in the end. Meantime you can get in a lot of practice while you wait. I find the vineyards are sometimes a bit of a disappointment anyway. There's thousands of them here in Aus - I think I have been to about half of them. And tried the fruits of the vine in most of them. I'm in the unfortunate position that I still prefer the cool climate wines. One doesn't get too many of them here apart from the Tasmanian ones. One of which - Ironpot Bay Pinot Gris - is my all time favourite Aussie wine. There are a few others that I am partial to as well.
Keep going Chaps - keep going. Doing well. All those abs.
Okay, time to move off and do some work before I go to gym in half an hour. It's getting hot already. I can feel it sneaking around. Better go finish the tough stuff before it gets too hot to move much.
Ok I decided to start, as hard as it is gonna be!!!
NO SODA!!! DAY 1
Yikes, thats hard!
Ok my name . I tried logging on the ebay and they asked 2 things you that mean something to you or something like that! anyway I loved dragons and I hate ice (i hate the cold) so it came up with icedragon and a bunch of numbers. I thought gee how the **** and i gonna remember something like that so i picked 666 for the devil (i am a bit devious!) but no someone already had that so i added the 9 . (to represent 69!)
It is very easy to remember!
My email is quite funny though it is sonnysblondebus! now that has a huge meaning... I have a really good friend here i walk with, and we always end up in a blubbering laughing mess. anyway we were sewing some school uniforms and kept stuffing up. so the old blonde jokes came in, and we would say we are having a blonde day (ie how do you know when a blonde has used the computer, ? There is white out all over the screen! or When can you tell a blonde has had a bad day? there is a tampon behind her ear and she can not find her pencil!.) No I don't degrade blondes (was born one) I no that this is only a stereotype (do not get mad at me) I don't actually believe blondes are less intellegent, because if they are , i should have stayed blonde?
So we were stuffing up so bad we have decided(jokingly) to buy a bus service! and when we are having those days, we are on the blondebus! Sometimes we are just passengers, on it for a little while, sometimes we are driving the darn thing! (Ie making stupid mistakes all day) One day we had no stuff ups, so that day the bus must of been in having a service!
We have seriously contemplated buying a bus service and having mystery tours. motto would be. "don't know where your going?, don't know when you'll be back?, just shut up, hang on, and pray like ****!"
Sorry to babble on! I had to explain my email to my ISP one day! they actually rang and asked me about something and the lady had to type in my email, and she couldn't help but ask about it!
OK back to what i am here for.
21 days no soda!
cheers
Well I think I'm gonna copy whomever it was with the pushups. Can't do situps cuz it hurts my lower back, already tried. Heard its not as hard on ur back if u use one of those stability balls. So may add that one I get paid and have 2 challenges goin on. Wont be able to walk for the next couple of days, LONG shifts at work. But I'll be on my feet those days so it'll equal to about the amount I usually do....So, I'll be sure by tomorrow what my next challenge is gonna be....
Ok day 1 miserably crashed, but i know why!
I have a caffience addiction! Got to just after lunch started getting really angry for no reason!! even did 10 minutes with my boxing bag. bare knuckled!! couldn't get rid of the feeling.
DH gave me a glass of pepsi max.. and 1/2 later, i felt fine??
Gonna go to the doctor find out some more on caffeine addiction (i don't drink coffee or tea) and find out a solution. I will do this though, just may have to cut out gradually! or maybe even try caffiene tablets to stablize my mood swings until i kick the habit!
Gonna go surfing to find out more? and how much caffiene is in pepsi max, on the bottle it just says added caffiene, not how much... obviously its a fair bit!
I will start the 21 challange again, but this time i will say I only will drink 600 mls of the stuff! and go from there.!
Looking on the net! this is very common! I AM NOT ALONE!!! they say to cut back gradually, excercise and eat well!

ice -- Here's a handy list on caffeine content. If you're drinking a ton of soda, which you must be, to be "limiting" yourself to 600 ml, then you're probably getting a whole lot of caffeine. Glad you figured out the problem. The way to go is to wean yourself off it. Otherwise you will be (as I guess you realized) in very bad shape.
I seem to have been flat out all day even with the heat. Must admit that I didn't notice the heat too much. I just thought that the weather forecasters got it wrong again.
Put an hour into the garden weeds this morning. The place looks much better for it. Another hour tomorrow should see that patch completely fixed. Then I'll have to sort out the concreters I guess. Got to the gym and put in a solid workout. I think the muscles are developing since it is nowhere near as hard as it was and I am getting more reps up. Maybe one day it will get rid of this belly for me.
I cooked - there are now six meals in the freezer for the child. More to come tomorrow. I had to clean out the freezer to accommodate all the containers. Nice cool job that. Then I went for siesta and spent an hour on the bed reading a book. Best part of the day. I should really have been a Spaniard I think. After that I went outside, rescued the washing, mowed the lawn and trimed the hedges. Still have to do the top yet (the worst job).
Food today
Exercise:
Water:
Portions
But I didn't get the ceiling done. Tomorrow is another day.
Gotta go. Hope the rest of you are doing okay. Enjoy the weekend. Oh and welcome Ice. Another one from downunder.
Heh, all. I'm recuperating today. So, Day 14 is a wrap and I'll be on to 15 tomorrow (Sunday!) I was really wanting to eat any old thing today but I stayed on the challenge! Hurrah! It always seems that one day wants me to make it two or three. Must be the body chemistry or something..
Good luck everyone. I'll try to talk to you all tomorrow!
