Yep. I've been using 3FC's journal option for years. You can make it public or private. I go public for the feedback. It's almost like another thread. People leave comments in it for you, or you can choose to not allow comments or just be private all together. It's a GREAT place to be expressive. It has an exercise AND a food log that are both seperate. Wonderful site, here, isn't it? :smug:

Turtle-LMAO!!!
Yes this is a great site, and unbelievable that it is all free. For anyone who is curious, I decided to try the Fat Flush cranberry juice cocktail. It is different, that is for sure. She only advocates Stevia as a sugar substitute so you need about 2 packets per quart just to make the stuff drinkable. It also has 2 grams of carbs per 8 oz. glass so you can be sure I won't be drinking much of it. I'll let you know if I think it adds anything to my program. Turns out I was actually reading the scripture readings this morning in church. And there was a lot to read. Then I went to the grocery store and wouldn't you know, I forgot some stuff I need so I have to go back. I'm making barbequed ribs today. I've never done this before and I'm making the sauce from scratch so I can be sure it is low carb. It has about 15 ingredients in it (including bourbon). I already have the bourbon, LOL! |
Hi ladies,
its a beautiful sunday morning. I was selling my clothes at a festival this weekend, and I was doing so well, but somthing happened last night towards the end and they had to shut the whole thing down and closse up shop so today I have nothing on the agenda. Its beautiful so I think i am going to take my son swimming. I went to WI and lost drumm rolll......3.8! :cb: :cb: :cb: I'm so psyched. My busting my butt paid off, I'm .8 away from 30 pounds. yeah finally after my last weekend in the dumps. |
I'm so goofey, I was trying to get to the smileys and I accidentely hit publish
and now my phone is ringing off the hook. I wanted to address eveyone individualy but now I'm running out of time so I will next time I'm on. thanks ladies for eveything. Jennie |
Morning PIC's. This thread is really hoppin'.
Jennie - Wow 3.8 lbs gone forever!!! :cp: :cb: :encore: To bad they closed down the festival early. Petra - Thank You so much for all your time lately . I am going to look into south beach but I'm not in a real big hurry to make a decision yet. I want to find something I can live with forever. I do okay with what I'm doing now but I seem to have stalled. I think part of the reason for that is that I am actually building muscles. Yes- Me- Muscles!!!! I still know that low carb would be good for me because I am addicted to carbs and I know it would be beneficial to stay away from them. However I also have pretty good will power so I am going to evaluate and see what I want to do. I hope this other job is something that you will be interested in. It would be really nice if it works out. ;) Tea - I am so glad that you have the time now to do something you enjoy. You deserve a break after doing so well with school. :D Hotcup - Please be careful when you are out there by yourself. There are so many weirdo's around. On the other hand I am so proud of you for getting your exercise in . Lisa - A loss is a loss. Great Job :D. I actually did look into weight watchers when I started this weight loss adventure (for the 99th time :^: ). At the time I felt like "I can do this by myself". I have done it before and it's not like I don't know how. I have been doing well taking off the weight until now. This is the point that I start getting frustrated but I know I just have to give it time. I will start losing again. It's just harder this time not to have the loss because of my goal. Oh well for now I will just keep plugging away. Curly - I have been trying to cut out the flour. I just don't know if I can cut out the sugar all together. I know carbs are not my friends :s:. I love all of you ladies. You are always there for me and make me feel better about my situation. I can't imagine not having found you all. :grouphug: :grouphug: |
Do you need the whole schpeal on South Beach or do you already kind of know how it works? The good news is there is an active South Beach forum on this site and I'm sure you could get all kinds of good advice there. Again, not the quickest diet but a solid long term program and one that many people find very livable. I think I have officially earned the title of low carb goddess.

momx: u would be very surprised.. once u start cutting back on the sugars less of them u crave... i was shocked cuz one day i wanted an apple sooooo bad.. i was shocked not a cookie lol i wanted an apple.. i love granny smith apples.. and they are filling too!
Miss Turtle: Avon has a new pedometer out that includes a personal alarm feature... its actually a cord that u just pull... |
Thanks
Thank you Curlylocks. I HAVE one of those things (not Avon though) and I totally forgot about even having it. But it wouldn't help me there. There is no one that would hear me. Sad thing is, the track is right next to the state police office (I worked for the SP for 12 1/2 years) :drill: (and their hats are this exact color) but even THEY wouldn't hear me or an alarm. But I appreciate that suggestion.
I've had a decadent Mary day so far. Weeded in the garden in my pj's, basked in the sun in my bathing suit, soaked my feet and shaved my legs, made a killer tuna salad and well now... :( I'm bored. So I guess I've either got to exercise or clean house. :dz: |
I am so confused :?:. Must be to much info for my little brain . I went onto the sb site and kind of looked around. The reason I like this one is that they have pre-done food in the grocery store. If I can't do something without alot of thought I won't do it. Plus I am NOT a cook.
Another question for you guys. When I found out about the surgery I thought okay I will cut my calories and exercise more. I went down to 1200-1300 calories a day and exercised for at least 30 minutes but usually 1 hour every day. On the days I was exercising for an hour I was burning at least 600 calories. Could this have stalled me? |
Hotcup - What does this mean "shaved my legs"? :dunno:
|
Does that mean you need a summary of South Beach?
|
Petra - Yeah! Bring it on ;). Oh, yeah and I crown thee official low carb queen :queen:.

Warning-another long low carb diatribe
Because I have already read this book and even tried this program for about a month you are going to get a mix of my take and Jonny Bowden's take on South Beach. Jonny gives South Beach 5 stars (the most you can get).
I have to start at the beginning so you will understand what is different about South Beach. All low carb diets are based on the idea that carbs are broken down into sugar in your gut, and when you get a lot of sugar in your gut, your pancreas puts out a lot of insulin to handle it so your blood sugar doesn't go through the roof. If you eat a lot of carbs, or are genetically predisposed, you can develop a state of chronic high insulin levels, and the muscles stop responding to it the same way and you have insulin resistance. Chronic high insulin (hyperinsulinemia) and insulin resistance are associated with a whole host of medical conditions: type II diabetes, PCOS, high cholesterol, fat accumulation around the middle (the apple body type), gout, sleep apnea, and potentially even Alzheimer's disease. This isn't just low carb propaganda, this is medical fact. That is why people with these disorders are often encouraged to go on some form of a low carb diet. Lisa That's the deal with low carb diets. Most low carb diets just focus on restricting the amount of net carbs you eat per day. What is different about South Beach is that Dr. Agatston makes the point that some carbohydrates are more likely to increase your blood sugar level and thereby cause your insulin to go up than others. This is known as the glycemic index. He therefore separates carbs based on their glycemic index into good carbs/bad carbs categories. He gives you some guidelines about how you can tell the difference and you can buy little books at the book store with the glycemic index of common foods. High fiber and whole foods (as opposed to processed) tend to have a lower glycemic index. You won't be counting any carbs or anything else on South Beach, although by definition low carb foods have low glycemic indexes. The diet is divided into Three Phases. In Phase One, which is to be done for a minimum of 2 weeks, you are on a pretty standard low carb diet except that you are permitted to have low fat milk and tomatoes as well as the usual low carb veggies. Most people lose between 8-13 lbs on this phase (water weight?) One of the unusual things on this phase is that he recommends you drink 6 oz. of tomato juice every morning with breakfast. I hadn't been a big fan of tomato juice but I got to like it while I was on South Beach. In Phase 2 you get to add back some low GI foods like oatmeal, whole wheat pita, brown rice, and some fruits. You remain on this phase until you reach your ideal body weight. In Phase 3, you can add back more low GI foods and occasional "treats" like that piece of cake, but it needs to be very occasional. He has provisions for if you fall off the wagon or gain some of your weight back. He has also taken the conservative approach to saturated fat. This is a controversial issue among low carb authors but Dr. Agatston is a cardiologist so he is going to be conservative here. He recommends you stick to lean protein choices like fish, chicken, turkey, lean beef, soy products, low fat cheeses, etc. Now I'm going to quote you the part from Jonny's book where he tells you whether or not this might be a good program for you. The South Beach Diet as a Lifestyle: Who It Works for, Who Should Look Elsewhere People who want to have their cake and eat it, literally , will love this plan. Because it makes a lot of concesions to "real-life" eating habits and, after the weight loss period, does not restrict any food whatsoever, it's bound to have a ton of appeal. And if you are the kind of person who can do moderation, it's a great diet, providing plenty of protein, good fats, vegetables, and just enough carbohydrates to keep the demons at bay. However, this liberal way of doing things is potentially problematic for people who like specified amounts and clear instructions and want to know exactly what they can and can't eat. If you fall into this category, you might be better off staying on the first phase a bit longer or starting with a more structured plan and graduating to South Beach later on. |
Petra - Thanks again!! I am going to go buy the book and see what I think. I actually drink V-8 juice every day so no problem there. The only meat I have been eating is fish or chicken so no problem there. I have been eating the 100 calorie pack of cookies for my treat after dinner but I am starting to notice that it is not enough and I want something else sweet after I'm done with them so I think this would be good for me. I need to cut back on the carbs but not be to restricted.

Howdy Partners!!!
Figured I would do my nightly check in before I hit the hay. I am tired and it is still light outside. LOL Today we went to Walmart..what a waste of time...you would think..that they were going out of business because they had nothing on the shelves. They moved it all to the new store..but a bunch of junk. Now how is one exspect to buy simple things like garage bags, cat litter, and deorant if they don't have it????? URGGGG.. Anyway, Kmart was busier than usual. LOL M and I washed and cleaned out my van. That was a workout. LOL Luckily, she doesn't eat much in this van so I didn't find fries and yucky stuff under the seats but I did find 5 backpacks with junk in them, 7 baby blankets (she likes them in the morning) and enough Bratz doll shoes to open a store! (like Barbie...nakked but feetless) I am having problems eating on the weekends. Dave loves big breakfasts on the weekends...so if I cook them..I normally wait until 9:30...so we eat late and it throws my whole day off. I would prefer just to have cereal but not him!! URGGGG. I end up skipping lunch and missing out on fruits and veggies. I am glad I am going back to work tomorrow. LOL I also drink way more water at work but I am getting my minimum in. Petra: if my weight loss stalls..I might look into sb but continue weigh in at WW. Thanks for all the great info!! Jennie: WOW!!!!! WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is awesome! Curly: I crave fruit and water. LOL Hard to believe the water part. LOL I seen a pedometer today...it had a little radio with it and headphones..I think at Kmart..couldn't of been Wally World..they didn't have anything. Turtle: you are not supposed to have hair on your legs?? WOW!! Try telling that to a 5 year old that won't let you potty by yoursef..she always wants one more kiss or a hug or needs to tell you one more thing!! I hate shaving in the shower but a mom has to do what a mom has to do..LOL My neighbors see my jammies all the time. We like to sit on our front porch in the morning and watch the sun come up..I normally will hang around in them until 10-11am on Sundays..unless we go to church. No brooms where today..just the shop vac. LOL TEB: I love to paint..and I love to sew..but never have time for either. I need to make more time but between M's schedule and my workouts.. it is hard...I need a maid. LOL My house did not get a good cleaning yesterday because we had the girls. Well folks..everyone have a great MOnday!! The sky is getting somewhat darker. LOL Only 4 workdays and I will be on vacation. YAHHOOO!!! Lisa Wyoming |
