Good Morning
The sun is shinning and it is going to be a hot one. I am counting down..8-1/2 hours to go. LOL

Moonray: Glad to hear from you. Congrats on being a loser!!

Hotcup: good luck on PMS week. LOL That I don't miss although Dave says I am always PMSing. LOL Have a good day and maybe you can sleep better tonight.

TEB: I know about being busy at work and yes the time does go so much faster. With summer here I know it is hard to find time to post. THere are days I don't think I can read much less post but I have made it a priority. We will have more members and old members. That is the way of the groups of the world.

Curly: WOW! You go girl!! I was happy the last time I did the treadmill I made it 17.5 minutes for my mile...WOW hopefully I can get to the 14 soon. I am trying to increase my mph and strides on the ellipitical every time I do it. I set a little goal for myself.

Petra: I hate to cook but love to eat. LOL Thanks for all your helpful suggestions to us.

Jennie: Learned my lesson last week..DO NOT EAT CHINESE FOOD BEFORE WEIGHT IN. I love it too and don't always make the right choices.

Momx3: Stay off the foot and you will feel better in no time. I always have reactions to meds. I think that is rarely why I take meds.

HOpe everyone has a great day and will check in tonight or earlier today.

Found this article on water on the web. I am trying to drink about 150oz of water a day.

Are You Drinking Enough Water?
Many have no idea as to how much water should be consumed in a day. Most Americans don't have water which leaves their body in a dehydrated state.

Water is very important for the body. All the body waste and toxins would poison the body without water. It plays a major role in digestion helping the biological catalysts to break down the food particles easily. Water helps to maintain the body temperature, acts as a lubricant and plays a major role in almost all activities performed by the body.

If water is not consumed in proper volumes, it can result in excess body fat, poor skin tone, increase in body temperature. decrease in organ functions. etc

Water helps in metabolizing the fat in the body and proper intakes of water acts as a key to weight loss.

A normal person must consume atleast 100 ounces of water a day. A obese person must drink double the amount of water consumed by a normal person. We must exercise for the water to be used for the metabolic activity and thereby sweat. Sweating is sign of burning the calories in the body.

Water is water and does not have a alternative

Water is water. One cannot substitute water with other beverages. This is because other beverages contain other substances that are not healthy and can actually reduce the effect that would have been achieved from pure water.

Consuming less water?
If you're not drinking enough water - at least 100 ounces a day - here's how your body is being affected

Digestion becomes difficult. Water is very essential part of digestive process. For digestion to happen lots of water is required since it will make the enzymes (biological catalyst) burn the calories easily and thereby the necessary vitamins and minerals are easily absorbed by the body. Consuming less water makes the digestion difficult and makes the elimination of waste even more difficult. It can also cause anal fissures.

Weight loss slows down. Approx. 2.5 litres of water is naturally lost / burnt through our daily activities like urinating and sweating. If one does not compensate the water loss by drinking more water then the metabolic rate is reduced, you get dehydrated.

Makes you feel hungry. When not consuming enough water the body sends fake signals of hunger and you tend to eat more thereby increasing the number of calories to be burnt. Drinking water helps your stomach feel filled up and stops this fake hunger.

Reduce in metabolism. If you do not drink enough water then the calories are not burnt properly even when you exercise. So one must drink lots of water to sweat out the calories when exercising. As said earlier sweating is sign of calories being burnt.

How do I know whether I am drinking enough water or not ?

It is very easy to find this out. Not considering the first urination, if your urine is clear and odourless then it means you are drinking enough water otherwise you are not.

Turtle is on a mission

I just did three and a half miles, using and old WATP DVD. And I'm already half way through my daily water goal. I just have to find something to fix and force myself to eat some brunch. My goal is to actually start eating BREAKFAST rather than combining breakfast and lunch into a one meal "brunch" before work. I just hate forcing myself to eat when I'm not hungry. I know it's not good to skip breakfast. Maybe if I keep at it, I'll get used to it. More importantly, maybe my BODY will get used to it. Go Turtle Go!

Happy Thursday to all my PIC Chick Divas. I hope you're all enjoying your Thursday. Hey, did I already post this? I'm so easily confused.

curlylocks 07-14-2005 01:11 PM

oooo my mom made me the best lunch!!! it was a whole wheat pita, covered with sliced tomatoes, then a slice of smoked turkey breast... then 1 slice of bacon crumpled over it and topped with a few slices of fat free swiss cheese ...

then nuked it in the microwave to melty the cheese

OMGGGGGGG it was yummy and reminded me of pizza..........

jennie934 07-14-2005 05:08 PM

Hi ladies,
how's everyone's thursday? My was kind of productive. I went crazy cleaning and got a lot of things bagged up and in the trash but didn't get much accomplished otherwise but some times, the mess just gets in the way and I can't work on anything so I gotta do it.
I haven't gotten in my excersise yet. I think I'm gonna do my step tape. I was goingn to go to a pilates class at the Y for the first time but, my friend from out of town who has been visiting this week and I havn't seen since sunday made me feel a little guilty that I havn't so I might end up going to meet up with her. OH well at least I thought about it. I used to love classes but now I havn't been to one on a regular basis for so long. I went once to an aeorobics class at the Y and it was so lame, I could have done better and I'm overweight!

curlylocks, that lunch sound good I wish I could have had that today.

hotcup, Keep up the good work. I think breakfast is a good idea even if its just something small like a piece of fruit or something.

Lisa, have fun on the vaca!

Moonray, good job on the loss keep in touch.

TEB, try and keep recording things, when I don't I get really off track, its hard to stay motivated but you can do it!

Petra, How's it going? Hope you had a good one.

Hi to anyone else that I missed, have a good evening and I'll check in soon.

Well the foot is still hurting so this will be the second day that I have not been able to exercise but there is'nt anything I can do about it so I am sucking it up.

Hotcup - looks to me like you have a great exercise routine worked out. It is good to do some cardio on the same day as you do weights. :strong:

Curly - I do the presidents challenge. So far I have 17209 points. :D

Petra - If my foot is feeling up to the grocery store tomorrow I may try to shop for the South Beach Diet. I'm pretty excited about doing something different as the cravings are worse all the time. Now I can't exercise so I feel really guilty.

Tea - It's supposed to be 104 here today. I think I might melt.

Moon - Good job on the lose. Post more often. We miss you. :(

Lisa - Have fun on your vacation. I'm looking forward to hearing all about it when you get home. :D

Jennie - Sounds to me like the cleaning can be your exercise for the day. ;)

Sorry so short but I need to go put my foot up. TTYL

jennie934 07-14-2005 07:47 PM

Hey ladies, I was going to give up on excersise but then dragged out the old stepper and did my tape.....not much fun be hey, at least I was sweating.

Mom, I hope your foot feels better soon. I went to the doctors for my foot problems,(pain from going up fromt he 3rd and 4th toe and numb toes) and she gave me pads to put in my shoes and said that if it doesn't go away and gets worse, I would have to get a shot too, but she said it would help, what is the point in getting a shot if it hurts more? I know you said the chances were sliim you just happened to be one of the ones but, that is no fun and no good. I really do hope it goes aways soon because nothing is worse than foot pain when you want to be up and about.

Have a good night everyone.
Jennie

Hey everyone. Long day today. Lots of craziness in my office too (no pun intended) The office staff can never seem to get along. One of the other psychiatrists and I joke that they should let us interview anyone who applies for a job there so we can avoid hiring people with raging personality disorders in the future. I'm working this weekend which actually starts tomorrow for me. Consults all weekend so I'll be running from hospital to hospital and floor to floor. Just have to take time to eat. That's my goal for the weekend. In fact, one of my collegues reminded me of that today.

I used to belong to a local gym and allowed my membership to expire. I got a little card in the mail today from them inviting me to come back at a discount. I'm thinking about it. I'm thinking maybe I need more exercise than just walking my doggies. This gym is actually open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. How's that for convenient?

Lisa-have a good time on your trip.

Turtle-yes, it's hot up here too. Keeping the boys cool in the a/c.

Mom-hope your foot feels better soon. Let me know how South Beach goes. Did I give you a pretty fair description?

Everyone else, have a good evening. Hopefully I'll have time to post over the weekend.

curlylocks 07-14-2005 09:32 PM

Lisa_WY 07-15-2005 01:40 AM

It is 11pm..do you know where your PIC is?

Howdy All,
I am still packing. LOL Can't believe all the little things you are forgetting. I still have to cut up my fruits and veggies. LOL I forgot baby carrots..might have to take a trip to the store for them. I love them and eat about 2 bags a week as snacks. Last load of laundry is in.

I did manage to go to my WI tonight. I am a BIG LOSER!! WOW, 2.8lbs. I think part of it was from last week. I did notice this meeting has a lot less people, if I wasn't so busy already on Thursday nights, I would consider it. The meeting I go to has about 40-50 people, this one only had about 10.

M is signed up for swimming next month. They let me do it a day early. We are hoping she has the same teacher.

No exercise tonight for me but I have been running around trying to get things done so that will count some. Dave broke his glasses today so we went to the mall to get them fixed. I did eat at Wendy's tonight. I only ate 1/2 the burger, M decided after eating her chicken nuggets she wanted part of mine. Good girl...helping mommy. LOL I had a salad..I can't believe their low fat dressing was almost as much calories as their ranch dressing. I only used part of the package.

I will do personals in the morning. I think I am heading to bed. LOL Have my gameboy, laptop(no internet service  ) we use it to play movies in the car. LOL

Good Morning All,

Getting ready to head out for my R&R. I still have to cut up my fruits and veggies. I plan to stay OP during my little vacation and hopefully continue being a loser! My dh was laughing last night when I called him from the grocery store. I said we need this or that, he said we are camping...do you really want to take that? Yes!! I need to stay OP. Bought a case of bottled water so I can get it all in, I really think that is what helped this week and with the extra dairy intake. Not worried about getting in my AP's because we will be doing tons of walking and horseback riding along with spending the day in the hot springs.

Everyone have a great day, weekend and begining of next week. I will check in when I get back!

Just a quick note to let you know I lost another pound this week. Yeah for L-carnitine and staying OP. I have to get to work. One of my substance abusers "lost" his perscription for a controlled substance while he was on vacation and I have to go take care of that. If you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you, LOL

Hotcupojava 07-15-2005 10:07 AM

Yawn

This darn cat is driving me crazy. I'm not sleeping and last night was even worse. Despite her yowling keeping me up, she spilled my water bottle onto ME and my PILLOW. Not a good night. I just laid there and cried like a teething baby with colic or something. No relief in sight. I HAVE to get her fixed! Which means my new bed money will be used on the cat. I took her in as a stray in March, so the responsibility is mine, but it just makes me mad. Punkin and Mimi never acted like this and I never had to get them fixed (they both lived to a ripe old age of 13 & 14 but, died in the same week a year or so ago). Sorry, I just realized I'm whining. Building a bridge boss! Getting over it, Boss.

I exercised yesterday before work (3 1/2 WATP) and I lifted weights after work at the office gym. I did eat more than I wanted to when I got home, but I'm keeping myself accountable for it. I "started" yesterday and my cravings were awful. I wanted pretzels and a chocolate bar together. I managed to ONLY eat the pretzels, but I ate THREE bags! Tha't 12 points! And once home, I tried and tried to just go to bed, but I had two of those WW chocolate bars. Four more points. PLUS I found the freezer open. Man I'm cranky!

Just moving on from here. Gotta get through it. It's hormones, chemicals, it'll pass. Be strong.

Petra: Congratulations on the weight lost.

Lisa: Have a great time.

Curly: I hear ya on the heat, but congratulations for getting the exercise in anyway.

Jennie: Great job on the stepper.

I know there's Pic Chicks that I missed, but I'm working alone the next two nights and I'll catch ya from work.

Right now, I've got to get some house work started and get some coffee in me. Today, Java is a SNAPPING TURTLE

Louie 07-15-2005 11:19 AM

Good Morning Partners !!

had a free minute before diving into the pile of paper on my desk, so thought I would drop in and quickly say

Hope you are all doing well, staying OP, and surviving the heat.

Take care one and all and I will TTYS
