Lisa-the WW Core Program bears a striking resemblance to South Beach. They altered it enough to avoid a lawsuit for copyright infringement but it is pretty similar. Something to keep in mind if your weight loss slows.

Mom-sounds like you will probably do okay on South Beach but little snack packs have to go. I'll give you my recipe for the nuts and you won't even miss your cookies.

Mornin' PIC Chicas

Just a morning check in. Food, water and exercise was good yesterday. Worked out last night with my sister until she hurt her foot. She's coming back this morning to do it again (not hurt her foot, I hope). Then I'll have to decide whether I want to go on a bike ride with my new coworkers or go to my TOPS meeting. Frankly, my weight loss is not where I want it to be and I'm quite disillusioned with TOPS. It's not their fault, but their constant positive comments ("That's okay!" and "You're doing so good!") just don't help me. I mean, I'm NOT doing so good, I'm gaining nearly every week! So since my coworkers asked me to go on a bike ride with them, (first of all, I was honored) but I figure if I keep saying no every time they all ask me to join in, in some out of work event, they'll eventually stop asking. So I've got until one or two to decide.

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday. Even though I'm not losing weight, I'm feeling hopeful and a bit motivated. Go Turtle Go!

Hi everyone,
so yesterday I went to the Wave pool. Since we have no real waves here in Pittsburgh, we have several wave pools out in the suburbs and boy was it packed. I had a lot of fun though, my son is very confident in the water this year and it makes it so much more enjoyeable. but, the down side was that I got stuck eating out there because we stayed the whole day and of course they only had junk. I was within my points but it just wasn't good food at all....yuck. today my stomach feels no good, I am on a fruit and veggie cleanse to get that junk out.

Mary, I say go for the bike ride, excersise is always the better option.

Petra, Iwas thinking core sounded a lot like southbeach, I'm thinking about trying core once I move out of my parents house and can completly control the food that I have in the fridge. thanks for the SB info.

Lisa, Walmart is so goofey, I have never had a pleasent trip to a Walmart.

Mom, you might have stalled your self with the low cal and the excersise. In WW, we get to eat extra calories when we work out so that we don't stall. maybe try adding a few extra serving of veggies or fruit to your meals.

Curly, I am trying to cut back on the sugars. do you cut out sugar substitutes as well to try and kill the cravings. that is when I crave most.

L2l, I'm glad to hear the you are doing well and that is really exciting about getting custody of your nephew. Your life will change a lot but it will be worth it just to see that little guy flurish and grow.

TEB, I love to eat out but now that I am trying to lose, I feel like it can be the hardest thing in the world. I'm sure you made better choices than I would have.

Angel, Dee, anyone else I missed, talk to us!

Have a good day eveyone.
Jennie

Ladies, We fell off the front page again!!! I think Lisa needs to get on that broom and get all those PIC chicks posting again.

I had a rough night. Buddy (my Golden retriever) was sick last night. I was worried that I had overdone it with him walking yesterday in the heat. He was throwing up all night but this morning I discovered what the problem was. He ate one of my socks. :lol: I found it out in the yard. How disgusting. All I can say is thank goodness for steam cleaners. We only went for a 30 minute walk today because it was very hot again here.

I fortunately, had a pretty light day at work and was home by 4. Hope everyone is surviving Monday.

I ditched TOPS and went for a bike ride with two of my officers. But like oh my GAWD! They tried to kill me. Never mind it was in the mid 90's (sort of rare for West Virginia), but they were full steam, never letting up. I gave it my all, but coming back, I lagged back and could barely keep up. I asked my Sgt not to wait for me, but he said "Of COURSE I'm going to wait on you." I was pretty embarrassed. But I did it. An hour ride in super hot temps. I hope I melted some fat!

That makes two hours of exercise for me today. Not typical for me, but I'll take it. Sorry we dropped off the front page. Uhmmm like what does that mean, by the way. I need to put some more laundry away and clean my computer desk. I'm TIRED!

Hope everyone is doing great. I'll address you all when I get back to work tomorrow evening.

momX3 07-11-2005 08:43 PM

Hello my PIC Chicks. I hope everyone had a great Monday!! Tomorrow I'm going to my foot pain class. I guess they teach you exercises and stuff. Fun, Fun, Fun. Anyone want to take my place?

Hotcup - So proud of you my friend. :high: Don't you be embarrassed!!! You did awesome. It was 100 here today so I am with you on the heat. It makes it difficult to exercise inside with the air let alone outside in that kind of heat. Did I tell you I'm proud of you? :D

Petra - Sorry about buddy. Are you feeding the poor dog? Tell him that's what he gets for eating mommy's socks. :lol: I bought the South Beach Diet book today now all I have to do is find the time to read it. Bring on the nut recipe. Is it okay for phase 1 SB?

Jennie - The wave pool sounds like so much fun. I want to go next time. Oh wait I ain't getting in a bathing suit yet so I guess that won't work. :^:

Curly - So far SB does sound Alot like what you are doing. I wish you could play hookey!! You deserve it after working so hard. Oh well, at least you got a great workout in. ;)

Lisa - My dh's car always looks great. He can't understand why I can't keep mine that way. I tell him he can start taking the kids in his car and we will see how long his stays clean.:lol:

ok im back 2.5 miles my hair is soaked its down to a balmy 85 here with 77% humidity...... (85 at 9 pm is that unreal??) I went and did my workout after work.. then went to the grocery store... stocked up on my granny smith apples, found some sugar free jello cups, Breyers has a new yogurt out with 50% less calories and 70% less sugar.. those will make a good snack ( dinner tonight lol after running around its to late to eat a meal)

I am craving beef and brocoli so i am gonna make a slimmed down version one day this week - the rice

now these came out really good when i made them.. I wrapped each one and froze them>>> chai begs for these also
Ingredients:

* 1 cup rolled oats
* 1 cup orange juice
* 3/4 cup nonfat buttermilk
* 3 cups wheat flour
* 4 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 cup sugar>>> i used splenda
* 1/4 cup vegetable oil>> i used canola oil
* 1 whole egg beaten
* 2 egg whites, beaten
* 1 tablespoon vanilla
* 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
* 2 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen) & added nuts

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spray muffin cups with cooking spray. Stir together the oats, orange juice, and buttermilk in a large bowl; set aside. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and sugar. Whisk together the oil, eggs, vanilla, and nutmeg in a small bowl; stir into the oatmeal mixture. Gradually blend in the flour mixture. Gently fold in the blueberries and mix until just blended. Spoon the batter into the cups and bake 15 minutes.

one sec ... a certain chow/spitz wants my yogurt.... he loves apples 2 .. and shoes and hairbrushes..... :o no socks tho...

OH I bought the south beach book tonight also :lol: at the grocery store... and those tiny packs of crystal lite u put in your water... Im weaning myself down to just plain water... i am a diet pepsi addict...

but ive been waking up in the morning with 1 kidney hurting :?: so i need to get some water in.. or maybe that cranberry flush petra was taking about or is cranberry for uti's ?

hope everyone has had a GREAT DAY...

(mine got much better after i posted this morning.... amazing how a call from a handsome southern man can spark ya up!! :dizzy:

petra65 07-11-2005 09:35 PM

I wish a handsome southern man would call me. :lol: Cranberry juice is good for your kidneys whether you have a UTI or not. Just watch the sugar content in most cranberry juice "cocktails"

Turtle-great job on the bike ride. It was hot as :censored: here today as well.

Mom-I think the nut recipe would work pretty well for phase 1 except it has butter in it. I think he prefers you use that benecol margerine or something and that would probably work fine. I should tell you this is really George Stella's recipe (the low carb chef on the Food Network)

1/2 cup pecans
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/4 c splenda
1/4 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp butter or margerine

Mix nuts, splenda and cinnamon together in a large bowl. In a large heavy skillet (I like cast iron for this), melt butter over medium heat. Then put the nut mixture in pan and gentle toss/stir until lightly toasted--about 3 or 4 minutes. Then put back in bowl to cool. These actually taste fabulous when they're warm and are still great when they are cool. A serving is 1.5 oz and has 2.5 grams of net carbs.

It's funny how I seem to have sold you all on South Beach when I don't think it is "the best" low carb diet in terms of overall health benefits and nutrition. Don't get me wrong, it's a good diet, I just think there are a couple others that have something extra. Then again, I'm not on one I think is "the best" either but will probably migrate in that direction as I get closer to my goal.

I need to hit the sack ladies. Talk to you tommorrow.

Hey Partners !! Hope you have all had a great Monday.

I had my WI today and darn it all, I am up 0.8 of a lb. Hubby asked if I was surprised, and I said yes that I thought I may have gained more with all of the eating out I did last week. Uncle TOM has also sent signs that he will be arriving soon.. so I will take the 0.8 and be very happy that I got off that easy.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with a friend....we were suppose to tole paint, but instead ended up painting the outside of her house. A much better work out and my arms are feeling it this morning.

All the talk about low carb has got me considering switching to WW Core (thank you Petra for posting so much info.. it is very helpful). As much as I love points I get tired of tracking everything. Maybe I will need to pick up SouthBeach and read it and then I can compare notes with Mom and Curly.

Hotcup, you are doing so well with your walking and biking. Big Kudos to you for doing all the exercise, especially in the heat. Also, I checked out your journal and I am glad that you followed your instincts and left the track the other night !

Jennie.. yowsa on the loss...you did great. You will be hitting tht 30 lb mark next week.

Well I best skedaddle. Hope you all have a wonderful evening and I will talk to you in the morning.

Ciao for now ~ TLB

Hey Chicky Doodles

Just checking in before work.;) I did a two mile WATP (one of the old DVD's) :dancer: . I'm planning on lifting weights after work. :wl: I'm taking that from the Body-for-Life book I'm reading. I had planned to do aerobics one day and weight training the next, but it looks like I'm getting aerobics daily and will alternate weight training just every other day. At least that's the plan anyway. I'm still feeling rather motivated and wonder how long this will last. :genie: I hope a very long time. Time to lay my clothes out and pack my lunch and gym bag. Good luck to all who read here. Can't wait to get back to working five days a week so I can get more computer time in and address everyone individually. Did I just say I couldn't wait to get BACK to work? Uhmm, that's like crazy tawk! :lol:
