i have to agree with this... beware the white flour.... and sugar. I think a diabetic diet is the way to go... and low glycemic foods.. i think the way sugar (processed and natural sugars) are used by the body are the reason some people are over weight... I think some people pack weight on when they eat a high gylcemic diet.. the body processes it straight to fat.. and u cant burn it off..
also i think they more high gylcemic foods you eat the more your body craves.. they are a quick fix for hunger.. and in turn make u more hungry.. its the good carbs/bad carbs thing... |
Ok... I will start my broom now and fly over everyone house that hasn't posted!! Come out, come out..where ever you are. You really don't want me to fly over your house..I could land. LOL
Angel: glad you posted.. Bladder infections are horrible. Actually a UTI and stones is the reason why I went back to WW 2 months ago. I woke up one day and felt horrible..high temp, very sick.. went to the doc. told me stone and UTI. I was so sick I couldn't even walk over to the scale to weigh in. I also was very dehydrated. That day I stopped drink pop and coffee adn only went to water. Water made me think of WW so I decided to go back. Hope you feel better soon! Post more often. Petra: I am exercising like a mad women. The docs told me I need to more because of my PCOS and it will help not to stale the weight loss. Second opinion? LOL Curly: baby carrots. They are great snackers. I keep a bag at the office. I got through 1 to 2 bags a week. LOL Also lite popcorn.....eat that a lot too. I am a volume snacker at times.. Well, M and I went to the Y tonight. We also walked around the park twice and played on the playground. Yes, I was swinging. LOL and I did the jungle gym and ran around with her. We had a blast. She was laughing at me. Then we did the pool for 1-1/2 hours. I moved a lot in there. I run in place and do leg lifts. I will tell you what not to do in the pool. LOL M wanted to do a handstand so I was doing handsprings and back handsprings in the water. LOL WE had a goofy time!! Went out to dinner and had a taco salad. I didn't eat the shell. LOL SO i stayed within points. I am hoping for a 1lb loss this week..we will see. I normally don't like eating out so close to weigh in but I will survive. LOL Hugs and Blessings, Lisa Wyoming |
I had to report that I lost a pound this week. It is the first pound I've lost since 6/19 so maybe that l-carnitine does do something. I actually lost 1.4 lbs but I only post whole pounds.
Lisa-I agree that weight loss is beneficial, just that it is a small part of the picture. Even your own experience shows that. You exercise like a "mad woman" and have modest weight losses every week at WW. |
Morning check in for Da Turtle
Good morning ladies. Just past nine this morning. Having my morning "juice of life" I call it Internet Coffee because I normally only drink it in the mornings when I'm checking my email. Today is back to work for me and hopefully back to the swing of things. I worked so hard at losing weight over the holiday week end, I was so proud of myself but crushed that I gained a pound. I was down that morning before I left for TOPS. Curses. BF was trying to tell me the high temps and humidity caused me to swell up and retain fluid. I have no idea if that's even possible, but it made me feel better than he even tried to think of a reason. I mean my food was dead on and I exercised Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (three times on the fourth!) The only thing I didn't keep up on was my water. I also added extra calcium to my diet, started taking my fiber tablets and on Wednesday, I bought fish oil concentrate (soft gels) to see if I'm maybe missing something in my diet. These dumb women's magazines that I get sucked into buying, always have the newest most ultimate revolutionary diet to end all diets and then a cookie and pie recipe on the next page, but they always do say supplements can help in your weight loss. I'm not looking for that magic pill (although that would be NICE) but I'm looking for a hand up. Just a little nudge to help me. So anyway, this is more topic for my journal, which I think I'll go write now. TTFN. Have a wonderul day and awesome week end and congratulations to our losers, and get back in here to our stray chicks.

Ok I am here!! Hope everyone is doing well! I gained 4 pds last week but I knew I was going to gain because I did not work out and just grabbed stuff on the go. As I was busy putting my home up for sale. So finally after one week of **** getting my house ready I got it done! If anyone wants to take a peak at my home come take a look at this link and if you want to take virtual tour click on tour 1 and you can see the inside too!. http://360RealTour.com/A/Home/PropDe...realty&id=9364.
Ok so after that week was over I am happy to report I lost all 4 pds this week plus 1 so I lost 5 pds this week! Hope everyone has a great weekend! |
Hi PIC-a chicks
Sunshine......good luck with selling your house and thanks for the tour!! I just love flipping through decorating magazines and showrooms for ideas. Have you ever seen the shows "designed to sell" or "sell this house"? When we moved 6 months ago, I got hooked on them for ideas and tips to get my house looking better. haha...even now I am still hooked on them. Way to go on the weight loss this week! Hotcup........yeah, I know what you mean about the articles on weight loss, turn the page and there's the hot fudge brownie recipie!! Be strong. Petra.......good job on the loss. Slow and steady wins the race. BTW, I love your new avitar of your dogs! Lisa.......Handsprings and headstands in the pool? haha...no way you're going to see that much of my thunder thighs!!! I admire you in the way you change up your excercise so much and include Mallissa. Great job!! Curlylocks......I hope your appt goes well with Chai. Has he always been aggressive? I've watched this show called the dog whisperer (yeah I know here I go again...lol) and this guy is amazing. Most dogs need between 30min and 1 hour of excercise, he says a backyard is not excercise. Once a dog establishes that the owner is the alpha dog leader (pack leader) that most of the aggression will go away with proper leash training . Anyway, this guy's name is Cesar Millan if you care to look him up. The show airs on animal planet....just a thought. |
Hey ladies . I hope everyone is having a great Friday. I'm pluggin' away.
Curly - Thanks for always being so supportive. I'm really glad you joined this group. You have great advise to give and I appreciate that :D. Petra - Way to go on the pound lost :cb:. Thanks to you for all the advise you give as well. I'm thinking maybe about switching to low carb but it scares me because I have done atkins and know I can't live like that. Any advise? Lisa - You crack me up!! Get out your broom and go get those ladies . You are doing so well at the exercise and the best part is you have fun doing it and make Mallissa have fun to. Keep it up girlie!!!! Angel - You seem to be feeling better. I know what you mean about getting hooked on those shows. When we were going to move I started watching "House Hunters" and still watch it now (moved 1 1/2 years ago). It drives dh crazy. Sunshine - I love looking at houses online. It is so interesting to me. Especially when you can look at houses and prices in other states. Good Luck on selling your home. ;) Hotcup - You are doing well and the weight will catch up. Sorry you had to go back to work :( . I hate that. TTYL my friends. |
Good Afternon to all of us LOSERS!!
Congrats to Petra and Sunshine!!!! :dizzy: I am hoping to be in that catogory with you tomorrow. Don't you love weigh in at 6:30 on Saturday morning. LOL I am planning to go to the gym by myself after weigh in. Should go by McD's first to get breakfast. LOL  Dave decided we needed our grandkids around tomorrow so we will have Skyler (2 y.o)and Carrie all day...from 8-8...YIKES. Even if I don't work out..just keeping up with Skyler will be enough I am sure. LOL I thought about trying to take her to the swimming pool as long as M is around I think she would go. So I am flying by some people houses tonight. IF you see a big butt lady with a broom..u will know it is me. Lisa Wyoming |
Welcome back Turtle. We've missed you. Keep up the good work. Plateaus happen to all of us. I"m sure you also know that when you exercise a lot you can build lean muscle and that can result in a gain or a stall on the scale.
Mom-There are lots of good low carb diets to choose from. I would recommend a book called Living the Low Carb Life by Jonny Bowden. They have it at our local Barnes & Noble. It's an inexpensive paperback. He's a nutritionist, he reviews why low carb diets work and then reviews all the popular plans and tells you which ones he thinks are based on solid science and which ones aren't. As you read through the descriptions of the plans, something may just strike you as being the right plan for you. I've read almost all the good low carb diet books so after you get further along in the decision process, I'd be happy to discuss any questions you have. Atkins is actually the most restrictive low carb diet in terms of carb limits, so keep that in mind. Sunshine-I thought I might know your husband from the Protein Power board but as unbelievable as this sounds, it appears I happen to know two people who are both selling their houses in Fort Scott, KS at the same time. He just put his up for sale too. He also listed the website and it isn't the same house so I guess it isn't your husband. What are the odds of that? I don't get the impression that Fort Scott is a big town either. :dizzy: |
Check in from work
Is there something wrong with the site? It was acting weird at my home and no better from here (work). There's no comments in the journals posted (or "nearly" none) and very few journals. Also, I didn't get notified that there were new comments here. Hmmmm
I buy every book I can find on diet and exercise. I'm no sucker,I don't believe everything I read. But I do like to read a lot. I'm reading Body-for-Life right now. I got it at the Salvation Army Thrift Store for like a buck. I'm on track with my food today and my water and reading this book and seeing all these before and after photos has me feeling motivated. I've got my gym bag here with me to hit the outdoor track after work. Sometimes it's awful spooky out there from midnight to one-thirty or later. But a Turtle's gotta do what a Turtles gotta do. This reminds me of a Barenaked Ladies lyric. "I don't buy everything I read." "I haven't even read everything I've bought." "I don't cry every time I bleed." "My eyes are dry but they're bloodshot." Sorry, it just reminded me of that when I said I don't believe everything I read. Somtimes you'll have to excuse or overlook me. I often break into song at the drop of a hat. :goodvibes  Okay, back to my book and women's magazines. I hope they get the kinks worked out of the site. I'm proud of everyone that's lost and I support all of you that are stalled out and frustrated (like me :tantrum: ) Lisa, I hope you fuel that broom real well. I think you're going to have a looooong trip to get to me in WV (and Petra in PA). Bring it! |
Petra65~~ WOW that is weird!! We are hoping to sale our house fast because my hubby is tried of driving 150 miles to work each day!! Yes Ft. Scott is a small town about 10,000 people but I love small towns!!

Hi Ladies,
I was on the run all day. Well not really running but not near a computer. When I got home form work, I had a few minutes before dinner and I was going nto sit down and check in but I opted for doing my pilates tape. I have been going to the gym in the morings and trying to get in pilates at night. So far the gym was everyday but the pilates was only twice. I've been staying on track with the food and I'm hopeing to see a loss this week. my home scale says so but, I have my son's baseball team picnic tomorrow and i"m sure there will not be a whole ton of healthy food. I am going to try and eat before I go so that I won't be to tempted. I don't think I would eat to much but one hotdog could cause 3 pounds of water retention since I have been so good all week, and I definatley don't want that for my WI on sunday. It is going to be at a park with a pool so I'll try and stay pool side as much as possible. Sunshine, I check out your house on the website. That thing is so neat. Have you found a house to buy yet? I am fixing up an old house and will be moving at the end of the summer. It my first house, I still live with my parents:?: I've been buying things for a while and storeing them so when I move I'll have stuff. but my next purchase is going to be living room furnature. not sure where the money will come form but well need something. Hi everyone else, its getting late so I better hit the hay. wish me luck and will power at the picnic Jennie |
Howdy All,
Not a gym or swim night so I did Richard...WOW..I was sweating. LOL Friday night is our wind down night. NOthing going on. Stopped on my way home from work at the Chinese Rest. I hope I don't regret it tomorrow. I weighed myself at work today and hope the scale was somewhat accurate and I hope I do have a loss tomorrow. Sunshine: looked at your house..very kewl. I love those kinds of programs. Jennie: you will feel better once you start exercising. It is addicting. LOL Turtle: stay safe at the track. you have almost got me thinking to go to the one by my house but I want that better bra first. LOL Petra: I never have understood the whole low carb thing. I am doing good so will stick with what I know. LOL Have to tell you all this story: This evening M was collecting lady bugs. She even found a little tupperware container to put them in. She decided they needed a bed...so she searched the bathroom closet and came up with one that would work.. a panty liner. LOL When I asked her if she knew what that was..she said mommy, it is a ban-aide. Oh vay.. can't wait until the teen years. LOL I will post in the morning after I get home from weigh in. LOL Everyone have a great night..I am hitting the hay after I shower. Dave doesn't like me doing Richard. LOL Hugs and Blessings, Lisa Wyoming Who took my broom??? |
