I fel like I have been gone for so long!!! :( but I'm hanging in there :( though I had a real bad head ache and just ate a 400 cal pack of cookies, who knew 2 cookies would pack such a punch!! I need to go tomorrow and get some more 100 cal pacs to bring to school.
I hope you are all doing well on your programs MOMX3- OMG! please dont do that!! I read somewhere that you can safely do a liquid diet ONE day a week but don't exceed that, it's going to be a drain on your body plus the surgery :( we don't want you flatlining on the operating table :( 10lbs a month is a great accomplishment (can you tell me your secret) ;) Maybe you should try a back brace or some type of support but what ever you do please be careful we don't want to loose you :( Petra- I've heard about L-carnitine too, it's supposed to help you out. I haven't tried it but mainly cause I hate taking pills :( Well I hope you are all doing well :) hopefully I can start checking in more often :) MoonRay |
Howdy Partners (or at least the few of you I have seen in the past few days!) Were is everyone... they must be off having fun without us :?:
Nothing new to report for me... just the same old, same old. Work was rather busy today and I didn't get lunch until 2:00.. kinda threw off my whole day. LISA ~ you are doing so well with the exercise.. I wish some of all your energy would rub off on me. I have managed to walk each night this past week with the dog, but I need to keep it going ! MOM ~ sorry to hear about the troubles that you are having. You may have told us this, but why won't they operate until you have lost the weight ?? Is a health concern... CURLY ~ I knew you would get right back on track.. well done ! PETRA ~ well done on cleaning up your yard, must feel good. I am sure your boys will appreciate it ! The board has been unusually quiet, I hope we haven't lost our partners. JENNIE ~ sorry, can't help you with the ethiopian points. I sometimes use www.dwlz.com as they have a restaurant list, you may find something there. Well I am off to enjoy the couch for awhile. Have a great evening/day and talk to you soon. ~ TLB |
Momx3: Here is a site that rates bras.
http://www.title9sports.com I misquoted the price.. (I looked at the Champion website) The one I really want is gup.... $56.00 (called the Last Resort) LOL I probably will buy this one to try out... it is only $40.00 --2 In 1 Full Support Wicking Bra (don't understand why $16.00 makes a difference to me if I am spending this kind of $$$) This is Oprah's choice http://www.enell.com but it can take 20 weeks. LOL Yeah right..I might not bounce by then. Hugs and Blessings, Lisa Wyoming |
Mom- Don't know how you will take this, but it is meant to be helpful. While exercise a wonderful thing to do for your body to make it healthy, it really has a minimal impact on your weight loss. Probably only 2 or 3 lbs of your weight loss each month are due to exercise alone if you are also watching what you eat so maybe you can slow down on the exercise part, still lose almost as much weight and not be in so much pain. Just a thought.
TLB-I forgot to congratulate you on your grade. Good job!! |
momx why cant they do the surgery untill u are a certain weight?
p.s. A lady i work with is well endowed and she swears if ya wear 2 bras.. it helps. |
Hey ladies,
I'm sitting here watching all the news about London. I can't believe it. Things are so scarry. I get so upset and depressed and think about how easy it would be for us to be hit again. What a crazy awful world we live in. I am getting ready to go to the gym. I think I'll do the ellyptical. Lisa, I ussually don't go by the type of machine or the excersise, if I'm working hard the whole time and my heart rate is up, I go by level I'm doing. Like when I jog, it is so much harder than the ellyptical but, the machine says I've only burt llike 600 cal when the ellyptical will say 900. I have a formula that you multiply the minutes by the level youi were working instead of using the slider thing they give you(I lost mine slider). I have it written in my journal so I'll post it this evening. When I put in 60 minutes at high level I get like 9 points I think but I'll double check. gotta run, I'll check back in later. |
Hi
Just peeking back in. Letting you all know I'm still alive and kicking. I wrote a silly and stupid journal entry BEFORE I saw what happened in London and had to go back in and edit an apology for sounding so goofy in light of the London tragedy.
I made it through two family cook outs in two days and stayed pretty much OP as well as exercising like a fiend, but still managed to gain a pound at my weigh in on Tuesday. Sort of bummed about that. But not giving up. I've been keeping up with my reading on here and will soon address you all as soon as I get some of this clutter cleared out. I've been neglecting my housework and boy does it ever show? Peace to you all. Stay well. Mary P in WV "Java Turtle" |
OK so with all that is happening I really feel like a whining little brat. I am so sorry to lay all of my problems on you guys. Here's the answers to your questions and thoughts.
I do wear 2 bras when I exercise. I am a G to an H in bra size so it is really hard to find exercise (or regular bras) bras. They don't think you should be working out if you are that big I guess. I have the oprah bra site saved on my favorites just trying to talk myself into that much money for something I will not be wearing for the rest of my life. My insurance will not pay unless I am only 20% overweight. That is their rule. They are very strict about it. I guess they want to make sure you are not going to lose in that area and end up with A's. However, I know I will not lose there as I never have. Or maybe they just want to encourage weight loss and this is the carrot. Petra - I value everyone on this sites opinions and you guys have already helped make me feel better. Here's my question to you... If exercise does'nt impact weight loss that much why do they say it is so important to weight loss? and Don't I have to burn more calories then I take in? How can I do that if I'm not exercising? Thanks guys for being here for me. You all mean so much to me and I am going to try to stop being a baby and suck it up okay. Love you all. TTYL |
Howdy All,
Very sad news coming out of London. It does make one wonder why the world has gone to **** in a handbasket. Momx3: I like the Oprah bra but it has a 20 week lead time. I haven't tried to use 2 bras but I really do think I need to invest in some better bras. A couple of things I have figured out on my journey. WATER WATER WATER! I am drinking about 132oz of water a day. I have seen a difference. Maybe it is the exercise from getting up and going potty so much! I have already drank 67oz of water this morning and probably will do that again this afternoon. I also drink a lot of water in the evening. The other thing I am working on is getting my dairy in. IF I have exercise points I normally use it for a glass of milk before I go to bed. Hot: don't worry about the lb..it will be gone before you know it! I am in "super mode" of exercise this week. I skipped Sunday and Monday...I did a little...like sewing and cleaning house but no gym, no biking or no walking... I felt guility so I have stepped it up this week. I am really pushing myself to go faster and work it more. Put one of M's training wheels back on her bike. She practiced last night and is doing better so hopefully this weekend we can really do some riding. She needs to go faster to keep herself in balance better but she doesn't understand that. LOL Jennie: I have been trying to be very honest with my points and myself. I am losing by counting it as 4..so dang it I will continue. LOL Might make up for those times you underestimate your points. I haven't used my flex points in 3 weeks either. I know they are there but haven't touched them and I only use 1/2 my exercise points unless I have a big day exercising then I might use most of them. TEB: the exercise is why I have more energy. I swear by it. LOL I feel so great! The other day when I didn't exercise..I felt horrible. Just start doing little things at a time. When I started at the gym..I could only do the treadmill for about 20 minutes and I thought I would die..the ellipitcal I started off at 10 minutes and the first 5...umm..it was heck. I have built up to 30 minutes each and now I am trying to add strides per minute and mph faster. My other challenge is how fast I can do a mile on the treadmill. I try to decrease it about 30 seconds per time. Also from the "turtle"..I thought about going to the high school it is over the corkscrew bridge and could easily get there by biking and trying to run on the track. At first I thought I would run the straights and walk the curves. I found if I vary my exercise I would stick to it better. It will be difficult in the winter!! I want to try to hit Onederland by Halloween.. I thought Christmas but and giving myself some padding but I have 17 weeks to lose about 38lbs. It will be close but I really think I can do it!! Have a great day! Hugs and Blessings, Lisa Wyoming |
Ok..calling all PIC's!!!
Deerod? Sunshine? Annie? Lookin2lose? Angeleyes?Shala? Sky? Anyone else I am forgetting?? Help Help Help..Inquiring minds want to know how you are doing! Don't make me get on my broom and fly around to find ya! Lisa Wyoming |
mom x: what if the dr says it is medically necessary? i work for an insurance co. and it is possible to appeal a decision, i would find out of they have a board of trustees that hears appeals... and then try presenting evidence to them from your dr saying it is medically necessary... IE: becuz of back pain etc.
and it is hindering your weight loss becuz u cant exercise.. I would call the insurnce company and find out if they do have an appeals board and ask how u can contact them.. |
Curly - My insurance is Kaiser and I think they pretty much do their own thing. Have you heard of them?

hello.....
yup....my name is angel-eyes and I'm a LURKER!!! Thanks for the shout out Lisa!! I'm just finishing my meds for the bladder infection (oh what joy) and I'm trying to get re-motivated....re-juvinated.....and re-committed to doing something (anything) about foods and health in general . Sugar is my nemesis and I've got to get it out of my system. I get in these sugar rutts and snack away mindlessly. Glad to see everyone posting and doing okay. Went for my first mammogram this week. That is certainly an eye opener!!! Before I get any nay sayers.....I was not aware that they were considered a yearly test. I'm so glad that I did go, as it was nothing to be scared about.

no exercise for me i took chai to the vet .. I am noticing that i have been nibbling a lot lately...
MOMX: i am gonna see what i can find out for u |
Mom-here is the deal. There have been numerous studies done that show that exercise alone does not have a significant impact on weight loss. Certainly, it is great for building stamina for everyday activities, improving cardiovascular function, strengthening joints, etc. Exercise is great for your body. In terms of burning more than you are eating, that is much easier than you think. As you know, I use FitDay religiously, and according to its calculations my basal metabolic rate (BMR) is 1658. That means I burn 1658 calories a day just breathing. I burn well over 2000 calories a day in normal activities. Exercise is gravy. Since you are a little heavier than I at this point, your BMR is probably a little higher than mine. All you have to do is eat less than your BMR. Now that I think about it, that is probably how WW designs their program. Because I am a low carb believer, I also have to tell you that I don't completely buy the calories in=calories out equation either. I believe your body handles different kinds of calories in different kinds of ways, so you could probably even improve your results further and have to exercise less by altering your eating habits a little. Just some food for thought.
angel-eyes-sugar is an addictive substance. Beware of all white powders! Check it out, I finally learned how to use at least some of the advanced features. |
