My aunt called me last night telling me that she'd taken my uncle to the hospital. She'd sound him non responsive. I need to go to Jonesboro today so I may stop by the hospital to check on them. My other aunt who has been sick has been put into hospice.
Thursday morning I had a migraine and symptoms of diverticulosis so I had decided that I was going to the doctor that afternoon. When I go to the doctor's office there was a sign on the door that they closed at noon and would not reopen until April 7th. Ugh. I know what to do but he's always told me to tell him. I'll be on a liquid diet for about 3 days which is going to be very hard for me. I can also have some soft foods. I had a feeling that with the food choices I had in Houston that this would happen. I guess I could call urgent care in Jonesboro and find out if they are open all day or half a day.
Went to Blytheville to my phone carrier to get an upgrade for my phone. I got the Galaxy 5. Think this one is going to be easier to use. I didn't hear the phone ring last night for one I was asleep and two it had a different ring tone so I've set up my voice mail and I changed the ring tone. Guess I assumed that all that was done.

Michelle
When one door closes a better on opens. Sorry you are having to deal with this. I realize that my sister and her DH have my interests at heart.

Dee
Happy birthday.

Laura
I'd like to go up in the Sears tower. The hotel where we stayed had 11 floors with a penthouse. I was on the 7th floor. It was nice to look out over that area of the city, especially in the early morning.

Happy
Thanks for the information concerning Medicare. I'm going to call my insurance group and a group with the North East Arkansas medical association.

Hello's to the rest. I've got a busy da ahead of me and need to get started.

Really quick check in as I've got to create my online portfolio displaying sites I've worked on. In my line of work, it's something all recruiters and prospective employers will want to see...and mine needs a major overhaul. What makes it a little challenging is that yesterday, I got fake nails put on. Typing with the nails, even though they aren't that long, is taking a bit to get used to. But I just want my hands to make as good an impression in the interview as I do.

I have plans to get together with some friends this evening. We get together once every 2 or 3 months to catch up with each others' lives.

I got another resume (geared more toward Content writing and content management) finished late yesterday so now I can start applying for those types of positions (which I would prefer over programming).

I got my taxes done and I'm getting a pretty decent refund, which will help.

Well, I'm going to sign off so I can make some progress on my to do list.

Much love to all,

Hello everyone,

Last night's evening out was a sort of a bust. We had planned on going to the Mexican restaurant for dinner and with the concert at 7:30, we headed to dinner at 6pm only to find that the restaurant was jammed. There was not even any more parking and the lot is fairly big! We usually try to hit the restaurant around 5 if we go out. So we headed down the road to another place we knew would not be as crowded - they have a huge dining room but only 2 waitresses so the service is sort of slow. I skipped the fish fry in favor of a fish sandwich (sadly fried was my only option) and had a cup of cream of asparagus soup instead of chips or fries. The soup was just ok, on the salty side and with a strange gel like texture instead of a thinner cream base. I would have been better of making something at home except by then it was too late and we had both had a taste for Mexican food.

Got to the concert early - had our pick of seats. It's an old movie theater that has been renovated into a performance venue. We had about 45 minutes to kill before the show and we were pleased to see the theater fill up because they are struggling to keep this concept going up here and we have been to shows where there have been as few as 10 people in the audience. We took this as a sign this was a good group as we had not seen them before. It is blues music which DH loves and I am not so fond of. The theater was also on the chilly side so I was glad I dressed with a fleece sweater and had my down coat. I knew we were in trouble when the lead band guy took to the stage and started his intro with a story about a patron at his last performance who complained about the music being overly loud - she had to use BOTH earplugs she said. He laughed as did the audience and then they started playing and they had his microphone especially loud so that when he started playing his harmonica, it pierced my skull. It was earsplitting, over the top loud. So loud my face was cringing and I could feel my whole body tensing up. I wished I had the presence of mind to bring earplugs too. This is a small place and the music has been on the loud side before but nothing like this. And throughout the performance he kept asking if it was loud enough and laughing. The crowd was cheering and there were some ladies behind us who kept hooting very very loudly. I was going to turn around and shine my flashlight in their faces in the spirit of "when in Rome... ". I was really NOT enjoying this at all. Then the bimbos behind us got up and one of them hit me in the head so hard I got pushed forward - I think I got hit with her purse. Although I was not appreciating their hooting, I did not say anything all along or give any indication I was annoyed. DH asked if I wanted to leave and although I was getting a blistering headache, I thought he was enjoying the show so I just crunched my coat collar around my ears to try and dull some of the sound. We stayed for an hour and a half and then he said let's leave as the guy's singing left a lot to be desired. I guess I am the old fogey as many people did seem to enjoy him but I thought it was $40 wasted on tickets and DH said he would not go back to see him either. He also thought it was too loud but was not bothered about it as much as I was. I came home and took 3 aspirin and it took about 2 hours before my headache dulled. Win some, lose some - not every date is a good one My headache was probably also complicated by the fact that it started to rain - our first rain since last October. Welcome spring.

Michelle - good news on the tax refund, I'm sure it will come in handy. Probably a good exercise to have a couple of different resumes. Hope you find another job soon. It's good that you are past most of your post-op check ups and can stretch out what you have left to follow ups. I hear you on the fake nails. I did them twice and even though I had them make them just a little past the finger tip, I also had a terrible time trying to type with them. I don't know how people do it. I was fascinated watching Project Runway with one contestant who had super super long nails. I could not figure out how she could work a sewing machine with nails that long or pin up things but she was one of the top 3 contestants so I guess she managed to make it work.

Ceejay - sorry to hear about the relatives. Hope the uncle will be all right. As for your tummy - after that spicy food in Texas and a change in diet, I'm sure things need calming down. That is a bummer that the doctor is out for an extended period. I hope you can "quiet things down" on your own.

Susie - glad you got good news from the dermatologist - ie. nothing serious. I'm so glad that you have a good physical therapist. There's a lot out there like "personal trainers" at the gym who are not really suited for that kind of work. A good one is like gold. Thanks for sharing the types of exercises you are doing - that is helpful to keep in mind. Your goal for your birthday sounds very doable. Go for it girl!!!!

Danielle - I'm glad that you recognize that not eating all your points is not a good thing and will not make you lose more, in fact it can slow down loss. I remember when I coworker hit a stall in her loss and she was anal about her food - the WW coach said to add an extra protein like a small broiled boneless chicken breast. K about exploded - you'd think she was told to eat a medium meat lovers pizza !! But she listened and after 2 weeks started losing again. And she lost 45 pounds which was more than her goal BUT she lost it fast, was very restrictive with her food and anal about exercising intensely 3 hours a day. Of course no one can keep that pace forever. So she got small, bought a whole new wardrobe and then I noticed she only wore the new clothes (which she bought skin tight) for 2 weeks. She had some emotional issues and found out she could not sustain the strict program that got her skinny and soon gained back about half the weight she originally lost. So ... moral of the long story is stick with something from the get go that you can live with forever.

Shad - how much longer will you be on the current contract? I remember you saying that DS has been really pushing it for a while now. Hope he will not burn himself out or get run down. Is he still flipping houses with the partner? I can't even imagine travelling with a smaller suitcase than you had since that one was rather tiny - or was I distracted by the large hockey bag?

Laura - from what I understand, once you turn 65 you do not HAVE to go on Medicare - I think you apply and then suspend it but you MUST have some sort of alternative medical plan in place - ie. you can't just refuse it and have no insurance just because you don't want to pay the cost of a premium. The seminars we went to explained this pretty well. I guess some people opt not to go on Medicare at 65 because they are still working and have a better plan or something that is a reasonable cost. For us, Medicare and the supplemental policy are saving us money compared to the family plan we were paying for regular insurance. The question remains, how good with the coverage and quality of care be now that he is on Medicare? Fortunately DH is at the point he is pretty stable and doesn't need much in the way of doctors. So Hope you have a productive weekend getting all the chores out of the way as well as some menu planning for the week. And mostly I hope what you buy on Saturday you feel like eating on Wednesday

Annie - hope you are having a good time with your guests.

Hellos to Dee and Terra.

Hello everyone. Nice sunny day here in Ohio. I really, really need to get the winter wreath off the front door and get the spring one out. It's on my list for tomorrow.

I got the home office straightened up but it needs dusted and mopped. That is on the list for tomorrow, as is taking the bulky heavy sweaters out of the closet to be stored until next winter. I'll be going through the spring/summer things that I stored last fall. When that is done, I get to do a bit of shopping!

I have two loads of laundry left to do and a trip to Walmart as well so tomorrow will be busy. It has been hard, but I haven't worked all weekend. I told myself that I wouldn't since I took a vacation day on Friday...that I won't have to take as vacation because I had enough OT through the week to flex it for vacation time.

Happy: Sorry to hear that the music was loud and the food not what you wanted. That happens sometimes. I like blues music but not all blues music is good blues music!

Ceejay: I hope things turn out ok with your Uncle. I also hope that you aren't feeling to badly. If you don't feel better after the 3 day liquid diet, I think a trip to urgent care should be considered. You could have an infection that needs meds. As you know, I am all too familiar with diverticulosis as my DH has it and it has caused his Colovesical fistula that he will need surgery for. Take care of yourself!

Michelle: You have been busy getting things in place with your resumes and what not. That is a good thing! I'm glad to hear that you have refund coming...that will help give a bit of a cushion--we all need that!

Are you nails the kind that you have to have filled in? My friend does the gel nails and I think I would like to try them but haven't yet. I'll wait until after spring cleaning, since I will be scrubbing so much.

I better get to bed. It's going to be a very busy day tomorrow and I don't think I will get a nap.

Hi girls all of U r probably sleeping right now. I've been paying bills online & shopping tonight keeping busy to get sleepy.

Thank You Everyone for the Happy Birthday wishes to me. My birthday is today the 21st, I grew-up celebrating my birthday on the 1st day of Spring, but astrology changed it in 2006 to March 20 & say the 1st day of Spring returns back to March 21st in 2102 (that's 87 yrs. away) & I won't b here to celebrate it again (60+87=I'd b 147 yrs.), so I'll b keeping it the way it was before the astrology/solar system played w it.

Friday R went to Walgreens after work & was sneaky & got me a 3 foot bunny. When I went into our bedroom last night I found my big bunny on his pillow for me to sleep with, holding a pink rose in tissue paper & a Love note from R. We r both silly, playful & romantic, so I was hoping for a surprise from him. When a cat I got for outdoors a few yrs ago strayed & I cried; R bought me a stuffed toy black cat that looked like Sabrina's talking cat on her show w a note tied to it saying, 'I'll never leave you'. I married a very thoughtful guy

R phoned me this morning & again @ supper, dS1 took him to a noodle restaurant in Milwaukee. I'll hear about it when R comes home tomorrow evening. Our dS2 was sick & that's why I told R to go on my b-day weekend to help our son. R said it will b 2-3 more weekends before dS1 home interior is in the condition he wants to get a 'good' selling price w the relator. Ds1 had used all his work vacation, when the job transfer became available in Michigan that's why he's been driving back on the weekends to upgrade his home to sell it.

This morning I was bored & I called my neighbor that has horses to tell them I was available to exercise/ride & groom them today, but they weren't home. The sun was shining & it was 45*, I brought out my boom box & played oldies tunes & cleaned my flowerbeds & got bored, so I set buckets in our driveway & rollerbladed around them, next I played basketball, then I got the doggies to play kickball & frisbee w me, until we all got tired & then I turned the Jacuzzi on & sat in it w my swimsuit & a t-shirt & relaxed. We got hungry & Sundae & MeeMee & I drove to our nearby grocery store & got food from the deli & m&m cookies & my favorite ice cream Spumoni & had my birthday lunch-supper w my doggies, I made them a bowl of brown rice & unseasoned baked chicken & a scoop of my ice cream. R told me to stay out of the woods while he was gone incase I stepped in a hole, etc. & got hurt w/o him @ home to take care of me & b my hero. Tomorrow I'll start spring cleaning inside & if its nice outdoors, set in the sun w a blanket on a chaise & read or catch-up on some computer work on my laptop.

Shaddie... I hope your weekend is going great for U. I hope that U either got a 'raise, a bonus, or double-time pay' for all the long hours your employer has U working. It seems like they'd ease up on U, because if they push U too hard, for too long; your gonna need another trip or a 3-4 day weekend. Please try to make more 'time for Joy' What, U don't wear paisley, stripes, florals or polka-dot clothing to work U r a gardener, U should wear what (the colors) U grow

Michelle... Geese, another Chickie that needs some extra Love right now Sweetie, U deserve more good news in your life w all the issues that have happened to U during the last year. Your in my prayers to get a enjoyable, wonderful job w a company that appreciates U Great timing that your getting a tax refund this year instead of having to pay back.

Susie... I'm soo happy that your doc appointment went well Looks like U doing great w your PT exercises & your injury turned out to b a blessing in disguise because of all the Wonderful things you've learned about taking much better care of your body now. I can imagine having your new NordicTrack recumbent bike will b amazing to use. My new bike isn't special, it's just a stationary bike w a flywheel w electronics on the handlebars. Yes I agree, your goal of losing 5# a month for your b-day is very achievable. When I buy packaged food @ the store, the 3 things that determine which I buy r reading the labels for saturated fat, sugar & sodium. R has copied my habit when he picks up food to buy also. When I read the entire label, to compare each factor I get lost so for me it's easier to pick 3 nutrients to compare.

Terra... When U have your cooking classes, do the students get a choice or a vote for what they want to learn to make? It would b just terrible if the students didn't like everything that the teacher chose for the class. When Clyde was w U, U took lots of walks so I hope that as the weather warms up U can b outdoors & enjoy walking again

Danielle... Looks like U r doing great w your work-outs Working @ a Orthopedist office is like having a good incentive for U to be a healthy role model for all the patients that come there. Also a good reason for U to eat lots of veggies

Annie... I hope that your cousin & Auntie enjoyed being w U over the weekend & that U had lots of sunny weather down there What caused the explosions Did anyone get injured, I haven't been watching the news.

Ceejay... I hope that your Uncle is doing much better today I hope it's not your diverticulosis getting inflamed turning into diverticulitis which is serious. If your pain level gets bad & U can't get any relief then its time to get to a Urgent Care clinic & b sure to tell the doc about all the spicy food that may have triggered it in Texas & possibly the doc will have a inexpensive RX or over the counter medicine for U. There's no need to suffer painfully until your doc reopens on April 7th. If U want to keep your job, U gotta b healthy & take good care of yourself.

Laura... I am just sooo jealous of U that U r joining a bike club I wish that I had joined this thread a year or more ago when my dS1 was living in Milwaukee. Then on one of our long 3-4 day visits to see him, R & I could've stopped by Chicago to visit U & your bf & U could've been our travel guide around Chicago w using our bikes, R & I would've Loved doing that w U guys. When R & I were had our honeymoon in Vegas, we went to the tallest casinos @ night & rode the elevators to the highest floor & looked out the hallway windows @ the strip & city; it was beautiful looking @ all the colored lights.

Happy... I'm sorry about the speakers @ your concert. Your headache & your ears recovered pretty quickly though. No, U r not a old fogey for not wanting to go deaf & have your ears ringing for days, or for the ignorant-insensitive jerks surrounding U @ the concert doing stuff. Its normal to b upset w the ppl w seats in front of us, that stand-up & dance for most of a concert, so we have to also stand/dance as long as they r so we can see the stage & enjoy the band, then the ppl behind us have to also stand-up or they r PO @ us for blocking their view. When we went to a BB King concert the audience was so mesmerized w him that everyone was sitting & politely jiving together during his performance. We like outdoor concerts best, if the band is good like when we saw Little Big Town, Toby Keith, Carlos Santana, Journey, Maroon 5; the acoustics didn't matter & our ears didn't get blown-off from the speakers outdoors. Maybe outdoor concerts would b better for U also.

Time to get some sleep now I need to do Sunday what I should've done Saturday

Happy ~ Yeah I'm not a left over's person but I bet the left overs are good the next day.

Laura ~ Thanks I did have a good time at school this week.

Michelle ~ Yeah I got all of my walks in, By the way I'm so sorry you lost your job. That really stinks.

Susie ~ Yeah walking outside does make the time go faster, It seems like it anyway.

Ceejay52 ~ Did you ever make the Taco soup? If so what did you think of it?

Shad ~ This past week we just had finger foods since our cooking teacher was on vacation so another person filled in for him so we wanted to make something easy. We did cook though we made meatballs and little smokies.

Danielle ~ Yes your right, I meant to say Welcome To The Worldly Chicks Thread. Sorry I got the 300 and The Worldly Chat Threads mixed up.

Dee ~ Yeah we all decide what we want to make each week. Yeah I love that its warmed up so I can walk outside now. Its also nice to get fresh air.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Woke up at 2:30 a.m. and its now 4:00 a.m. right now. I was gonna get up at 4:00 a.m. anyway cause I think at 4 a.m. I would of gotten 8 hours of sleep since I went to sleep at 8:30 last night but I'm not 100% sure I'm right about that though. My plans for today are to do my 40 min. chair exercises sometime today and we are also gonna go to Walmart to do our weekly shopping and we're also gonna go to Best Buy cause mom needs to buy a Tablet for work. I'm not gonna do my 20 min. 1 mile walking dvd at night anymore because my brother and his family goes to sleep at 7 or 8 at night and I dont want to wake them up by my working out to the walking dvd. They sleep downstairs but I still think I get enough exercise walking outside and doing my 40 min. chair exercises every day without having to do the walking dvd at night. Anyway I hope everyone has an awesome day today.
Good morning ladies,
Today I'm going over to my step-mom's and she's going to color my hair. I was going to have it done this coming Friday at a salon, but I just wanted to get the gray hairs covered since I have an interview with a recruiter tomorrow. I'll still go to my appointment at the salon for the haircut.
I finished my design and content writing version of my resume yesterday and got my portfolio done. http://www.pixelsandprose.com if you're interested. The portfolio isn't perfect and needs a few tweaks, but it's the best it's looked in a long time and definitely "presentable".
Later today I'm going to hit the job boards looking for positions to apply for. My ex forwarded me some postings for freelance website work, mostly small projects, which I'll apply for now that my resume and portfolio are done.
And to make sure I get some fun in....I'm taking Santa to the dog park this afternoon.
I'll try and do personals tonight. Thank you all for your love, prayers, support and encouragement.
Much love to all,
Terra
I bought the ingredients for the taco soup but haven't made it yet. Trying to let my digestive tract settle down from my trip to Houston.
Happy
I would have had to leave the concert. This is why I wait for the DVD's for the movie's.
Michelle
Good for you in getting your resume updated and posted. I have a feeling you will not be unemployed very long.
Dee
Wow, you sure kept busy while the DH was away. Like your idea of playing with the dogs for exercise.
Hello's to the rest
-------
Called the hospital this afternoon to check on my uncle and they had no record of him being a patient so I called their home phone number. He got to go home yesterday. After a battery of test the doctor's could find nothing wrong with him. He was released yesterday and went to church this morning. The doctor said that he could drive! My aunt said that he was weak and pale but was doing good.
My diverticulosis has not shown up except for a few cramps but even that is gone for the most part. I miss my way of eating. Now to get back into my way of exercising. I did get a lot of that is Houston.
Took the clothes back yesterday and my friend and I went out to eat. I watched what I ate.
I've done some cooking this afternoon for next week. I have a long stretch ahead of me. L is taking off this week end. I will straighten the house as I go along next week.
Monday Monday....For some reason I started getting the blahs yesterday afternoon and have not bounced back from that. Maybe because I decided to knuckly down and track food and move a little more. lol.. I am still down the 15 lbs that I lost since September, but would like to be down another 15 or so. The relatives visit went well and we all had a good time. They left yesterday morning.
We got our master bedroom done finally. Painted, new doors on the closet and on the entry. I like the color but was expected something a little darker blue/gray. This is almost a ocean blue. White trim and doors. Now for our bedroom, which may be a while to motivate for this one. The older I get the less motivation I have to do things like this. Maybe I am just fizzling out.
Sissy has all her babysitting kids for the next two weeks of spring break...the before and after school kiddos will be there all day long. She will be a nut bag by the end of the week. That will make 6 kids plus her two, two in diapers, one in pull ups, one that has accidents in their big boy undies the rest can go on their own. Yikes. She is sure to be Miss Crabby Pattie come evening. lol.
HAPPY...I don't know how you sat through that loud music you did not like. I probably would of left a lot sooner. Then again, if I don't like anything, movie or whatever, I leave during the performance/show. Only have done that a couple of times. Fish and soup seem a far fetch from mexican food. I do believe mexican is my favorite, then soups and salads. Thanks for asking about DS. He is mending well. Got released on Friday to go back to work today. Still has one small pocket of infections in one testicle. The doc changed his antibiotics again in hopes to knock it out.
CHELLE...we both know you will get that great job that is in front of you. You are good at what you do and others realize it also. Good interview vibes coming your way along with prayers, hugs and love.
LAURA...hope your head is feeling better. TOM headaches are the worst. I usually just got cramps and crabby with TOM...
SHADDIE...glad you got to come up for a bit of air. Sounds like you are working like a pack mule. Heard about the bad weather hitting the coast. Everything good in your area?
DEE...your birthday celebration sounded nice. Glad the animals decided to celebrate with you.
SUSIE...good for you for not working this past weekend. Your weekend sounded full of chores. Not much of rest and relaxation.
CEEG...hope you are feeling better and also your uncle.
TERRA...do you get a spring break from school?
DANIELLE...your motivation and efforts to gain a healthy life are to be commended. Congrats!
Bout it for me, my boss just called and said he is out sice with the heave ho's and such. Just a bit nasty. I told him to keep it at home till he is back in perfect health. We don't want it.
Later girlies. Hugs to all....prayers also.
Morning all,
Unlike you in Chicago we are not dealing with snow this morning. THANK YOU!!! I know we have probably not seen the end of it yet but I am ok if we don't.
Was a quiet weekend - nothing of any great interest happening. I have to get ready for yoga class. Will be back to catch up on personals.
Morning all. Snowy Monday here in Chicagoland. Anyone else get snow?
Bf had a class all weekend, so I was pretty much on my own. I dropped him off and picked him up from his class on Saturday. It wasn’t far from home, and it wasn’t far from the car dealership where I went afterwards to pick up a part we’d ordered. After that I went home, changed clothes and went to the recplex. I bought my fitness class punchcard Saturday morning and did a circuit class.
After class and a shower, I raked up leaves from some of the garden beds out back. It was a nice sunny day and doggie liked being outside with me. I stopped when I’d filled two yard waste containers, even though there’s still half of one of the borders left to clear. The leaves will still be there for me to rake…right now they’re under the snow, lol.
After that I went to the thrift shop. It’s under new management now and they’ve switched things up – everything’s been re-arranged and the displays are appealing. Prices have gone up too…but I found a cute t-shirt and a pretty scarf for $5.45 total. Time to get rid of at least one t-shirt and perhaps a scarf. Maybe not a scarf – I may not wear some of mine very often, but they take up so little space, I’ll probably just keep them. Well, except the two scarves I bought a few months ago. Those are too warm and every time I wear them I regret it.
I’d intended to go shoe-shopping after that, but instead I stopped at the bakery for a loaf of rye bread and went home. I ate lunch, watched some telly and took doggie for a walk. Shortly I left the house again to hit Target before picking up bf. I intended to buy a new water/beverage bottle, but I think I got overwhelmed by the big selection (and they had them in at least three different spots in the store!) and just bought TP and tissue on sale and got a $5 gift card because they had a special promo going. After that I went directly to where bf’s class was and picked him up.
We drove straight to bf’s mom’s place to borrow his mom’s car for Sunday – bf’s class started super early on Sunday, so he didn’t want to leave me stranded at home all day, and I couldn’t drop him/pick him up either because of the class schedule. We just watched some tv Saturday night.
Sunday was a lazy morning, and then I got out to shop for shoes. I ended up with a pair of Saucony sneakers. I’ve never worn that brand, but they felt good in the store, and also when I wore them to walk the dog shortly afterwards. They should be fine for my daily work commute and dog walks. Has anybody ever worn that brand?
I talked with my mom a bit. The plan is for her to move back to the Chicago area to be near me and my sister, but my sister and her hub are apparently planning to move elsewhere in a couple years…My mom asked me if bf and I plan to stay in our house. Don’t blame her for asking that – why should she move here if we won’t be around?? Since I don’t envision myself being able to retire early, I’ll be in Chicago for many years to come. My SIL, who currently lives out of state, also plans to relocate back to this area as well to be with her sister. My SIL and my mom are close too, so I think my mom should continue to plan to move back here. Unless my sister and her hubby move someplace she’d rather live, hahaha.
I met bf at his mom’s and we hung out there for a while. I’d gotten another one of those “TOM headaches” and bf’s mom’s place was like an oven, so I was glad when bf finally wanted to head home. By then it was nearly 9 pm! The weekend went quickly and I didn’t get much done around the house. Oh well, the work isn’t gonna do itself, so it’ll be waiting for me, no doubt about it.
What a novel! I’ll have to catch up on personals later. TTFN.
Notice I didn't say good morning, because it isn't. The sh*t hit the fan big time yesterday and given what happened or rather didn't happen, I will probably be handing in my notice by the end of the week.
So I won't hang about here today. I will try to get back to this tonight and find some stuff I can write about without losing my temper
Evening all. Back with personals:
Shad – Did you get away with not mowing the lawn over the weekend? I hope you have a spare hour or two outside of work this week in which you’re not commuting, eating a meal, or sleeping! My wardrobe base is black or brown dress pants, though my employer has granted the office “jeans days” through the end of August. Still, there are work occasions that warrant the dress pants. I guess my issue is the rest. I seem to have shorted myself with tops so some shopping is in order. And my usual “business casual” cardigans are not enough for some events. I have a couple chino/cotton blazers, but those are still too casual… So I guess I need a couple blazers that will dress up my outfits a bit, and perhaps accessories such as scarves and jewelry. Shoes, forget it – flats will have to do. I won’t wear heels! Traveling wardrobe…I don’t travel for work anymore, thankfully. I do tend to travel with a lot – I don’t really want to worry about laundry on a vacation. But I do try to make sure everything works with more than one or two other things. Re solar power panel to operate the gate opener - great idea. I hope the long pole rectifies the shade situation! Oh, just saw your last post…wow, not a good situation if it’s causing you to resign!!!
Danielle – I’ll figure out how to add you to my fitbit. Of course today I totally forgot to wear it/put it in my pocket. I do that probably once a week, lol. I don’t always get 10,000 steps a day and that could be because I don’t wear my fitbit on my wrist all the time, but in my pocket, or not at all. I don’t bother wearing it to my exercise classes all the time. Maybe I don’t understand how it really tracks my activity, but I don’t feel like it’s all that accurate if it registers “steps” when I’m wearing it on my wrist and flap my arms around for some reason or another – like talking with my hands or whatever. It probably registers when I type on a keyboard! But I guess if I wore it more consistently it would at least be consistently inaccurate, hahaha. Be patient with yourself in those classes where you can’t always follow the instructor’s movements – you’re still getting a good workout, even if you have to march in place a bit while you catch up with the steps. Oy, a 5:45 am class is really early!!! Good luck with that! I liked Cinderella. It was a pretty film to watch, had a good message and the story was what you’d expect.
Susie – I’m glad nothing was suspicious at your derm apt. How exiciting about your new recumbent bike! I hope you enjoy using it. That makes all the difference. A couple of those PT exercises sound like Pilates moves – great core work. I’d like to get back to a pure Pilates class. There’s only so much time for exercise classes, so I probably just need to do the moves on my own at home. I think your birthday goal is very doable – you can do it Susie!!! Re lunches I take to work – usually a sandwich made with a whole wheat deli thin roll, and some turkey breast lunch meat and a slice of cheese. Or a packet of tuna on a deli thin spread with a T of miracle whip. Baby carrots. Fruit. I always want chips, so I have an ounce of pop chips. I need to try and wean myself off the need for the salty snack at lunch. Alternatives to the turkey or tuna are a veggie patty or some RF salami. I wish I liked salads more, but I find them to be a PITA to make. I don’t care for the pre-packaged salad mixes – they taste funny to me and how much time do they save me if I feel I need to rinse it??
Ceejay – Glad to hear your uncle is back home again. How’s your aunt? I’m glad you’re feeling better now, especially if you’ve got a long workweek ahead of you. Are you getting used to your new cell phone now?
Michelle – You’ve been busy with your portfolio – I have a feeling I’d just be wallowing in self-pity for a while if I were in your position. I like your site name! Good luck with the interview and the other freelance positions you apply for.
Happy – Gosh, that blues concert sounded like an endurance test! The lead guy was an idiot being loud on purpose, and the folks behind you sounded like jerks. It’s one thing to be loud and rowdy, but bumping into you – that’s just careless/rude. I hope the next music event is more to your liking. How nice you didn’t get any of the snow! My area ended up with about 5 ½ inches! I’m just glad the temps will be heading upwards and hopefully melt all the snow in the next day or two.
Dee – Sounds like you and the doggies did a good job celebrating your b-day in your hubby’s absence. So nice of him to help DS with his house renovations! So you’ll have a couple more weekends on your own - or will you join your hubby for one or both of them? Re touring Chicago on bikes – the city has a bunch of spots to rent Divvy bikes - I wouldn’t mind taking the train downtown and renting the bikes for a couple hours to ride along the lakefront. Heck, I wouldn’t mind using my lunchtime at work to take a quick ride on one of those Divvy bikes, just to get to someplace quiet. But I’d definitely have to take my bike helmet with me to work!
Terra – Too bad you can’t do the evening dvd workout anymore. Boy that’s an early bedtime for your bother and his family. I love those little smokies, but I know they are not healthy! We probably have those maybe once a year, heated in bbq sauce or something – we take them to a party as an appetizer.
Annie – Paint colors…they can be tough to get right. Congrats on getting the painting done. We’re still not done with our half bath. Sigh. Sissy’s gonna have a challenging week - I hope she gets plenty of sleep!! I’m glad the visit with the relatives went well. Hope the boss is feeling better soon…but isn’t it nice to have him out of the office?? Yay for your DS being released to work! I hope the new med wipes out the rest of that infection. Ick.
Hope I haven’t missed anyone.
I noticed my Federal tax refund has been deposited in my bank account – wow that was quick!
I submitted an order for concert tickets at work – my employer is a contributor to a concert venue (Ravinia) and so we get the opportunity to order tickets in advance. I’m hoping that ordering in advance means avoiding sold out shows when they go on sale to the general public.
That’s it for me. Have a good evening everyone.
