Hi all.

I'm happy to find this thread and will be reading through it over the next few days. I started IF about a week ago and really enjoy it so far.

I'm hoping it continues to be something that works for me.

Hi everyone. Quick update. Yesterday was my weighin. I was down 2.2 from my weighin May 15th. Not exactly great, but I did have a couple rough days near the end of the month. It did get me into the 220's though and I haven't seen the 220's since I was probably 19 or 20. 8.6lb lose for the month of May. I'm getting there. =)

Congrats, FassGal. Awesome job.

Kasey, you're right, it is wonderful for damage control.

iamadreamer, great job with the fasting! For me, weightloss happened right away. If I put my all into the fasting part (which can be hard at times because I work with food), I lose a pound every one or two days easy.

One of these days we should start a week long "No-Slip Up During IF" challenge. LOL...meaning fasting time is fasting time for a whole week...no munching on cookies, etc. until your eating window.

Any ideas? Maybe that would give some of us the extra push to stay on track.

Leeda, welcome and great job.

Kim, awesome job...I hear ya on having hard times while dieting.

Trying to muscle through a 24-hour fast today. Scale has been nonsensically erratic, even when I'm eating according to plan. Stupid perimenopausal hormones! Been seriously struggling with night-time hunger the last few days, so I thought a fast was timely to bring my week's calories back in line.

So my sons are cooking for themselves today, and they decided to fry up some potatoes, scramble eggs and melt some cheese into their breakfast burritos. I'm holed up in my bedroom at the other end of the house, but I can still smell it all from here! Smelling is calorie-free...but still rather torturous!

Despite what the scale says, I have dropped an inch in my waist since starting IF a couple months ago. I still have to lose 1.25" off my waist in order to get into the six pairs of pants I bought for the next size down. I can already fit my behind and my thighs in them rather nicely. I just can't zip them up all the way or button the waist. Doing extra-long plank progressions, twists and added cardio. I need those pants for my trip that starts a week from Saturday!

Thanks! I have more good news: I've lost some weight, about 2.5 lbs. I now have 32 to 37 pounds left to go. I remember when I had 50 pounds to lose!

I love the challenge idea. The only idea I have is that it might be best to start the challenge right before or immediately after a holiday weekend, when people are very motivated to do well.

I love a challenge too! Should we do it for a M-F? My work schedule is kind of crazy, but could probably make it work.

Reading about you guys losing lbs and inches is very inspiring. Keep up the good work! I know weekends can be the hardest time. Must avoid the alcohol! I notice such a difference when I don't drink. Or just have 1 or 2 drinks (which is much easier said than done)

I still really love doing IF. It's so much more convenient and I don't miss having breakfast at all.

After several searches that came up with nothing... I searched again today... and found this.

I'm doing IF. Well... I have a window in which I can eat... from 2-8 PM.

Today was my first "real" day... even though I had been doing it for the past four days. I didn't eat until 2 PM... and was just plain fine. Had my lunch... and now I feel like I should be eating a bit more... because it's 4 PM... and I only have four more hours... but I'm not really hungry. I'll wait a bit longer, go to the dressage clinic at the barn a couple blocks away, and maybe have some blueberries or raspberries.

I do have one question though... when you count it all up... what are y'all's general calorie counts? I'm not calorie counting... but I want to make sure I'm still eating enough. So far I've only eaten around 500-600 calories today (mushroom chicken with rice and an avocado with some honey dijon dressing on it).

So yeah... I saw a mention of a challenge? I'm up for it.

I've decided to join you guys.

This diet looks simple to follow and that's what I need. When my family tries to start a diet they always tend to buy the right food for about a week and then it becomes to difficult. I'm the only vegetarian in my family and when I want to eat even more specific food, it just doesn't work.

I'm right now I'm on a non-fasting day considering I have to attend a grad party but tomorrow I will fast and thus the cycle will begin, wish me luck.

Okay...who can talk to me about their experiences with plateaus on IF?

I have been OP for a few weeks. I started IF mid-April and lost my initial 20 lbs using an 8-hour window in the afternoon/evening. Got all the way down to 300 lbs. Been bouncing between 300 and 305 for the last 2.5 weeks. Daily caloric intake averaged out to 1553 calories. My current BMR is 2080. My goal BMR is 1514. For exercise I do an intermediate level of mat Pilates, an hour a day, five days a week. Other than that, I have a desk job, an elderly mother and two teens that keep me pretty busy.

Am I still eating too much?

Unhappy

This weekend was something else! I went to a wine crawl consisting of 7 restaurants and lots of wine, sangria and food. On Sunday I toured a naval ship and ate a lot of junk food. I'm sure the scale says I gained all the weight I lost and them some.... but I'll just focus on IF'ing today and take it from there.

Have a good one

FassGal, no worries...we've all been there done that. Just jump right back on board and you'll lose it back in no time.

Kasey, glad you're enjoying IF. Great job.

Welcome, serbrider. I hope it works out well for you.

Welcome, kaycaroline. Good luck to you.

Geo, you've been doing great. Perhaps someone who knows a bit more about plateau's could answer but if I had to take a wild guess...I would think that cutting back a bit on the calories would help. I could be dead wrong but it seems to me that when someone hits a plateau it means they've done so well so far but the same ol routine is now too easy for the body and it's time to switch things up :-).

Hope you're all well. I haven't been putting much effort in for a few days because of TOM. Also, getting ready to move into my first official apartment in two weeks. I can't wait! I'm 27 and am finally getting a place that's mine. No more sharing rent, etc. Losing weight will be easier as well.

Have a good day, all.

Hi everyone. IF newbie here. I've actually inadvertently been doing IF on the weekends. I have a tendency to not really think about eating when I'm busy running errands and just out and about. I noticed I was losing weight only during the weekends even with my strict calorie counting and workouts during the week. I figured out the difference is that on the weekends, I eat a fairly hearty, healthy breakfast early in the morning (7am-ish) and then don't eat again until dinner around 5-6 and those are the only 2 meals I consume. I still meet my calorie requirements but with only 2 eating windows. After much deliberation, researching (due to this site) I decided to try it today for the first time during the week. The experience went much better than intended. I did not eat after 7 last night and didn't eat until 7am this morning. I had a good breakfast with lots of protein. 620 calories, which is pretty much my normal lunch and breakfast combined calorie consumption. I had some pretty massive stomach pains at my scheduled lunch time but I walked about a mile and drank about 32oz of water in the process. My hunger pains stopped almost the moment I sat back down at my desk. I did not experience anymore of these and actually felt fantastic the rest of the day! I even dawdled a little making dinner and didn't sit down with food til 6pm. So one 12 hour fasting period and 1 11 hour fasting period. 1500 calories from 2 meals. Roughly 60 grams of protein, 10 grams of fat, and I fit all of my daily food group requirements in there! That is my goal overall; healthy eating with a balanced diet. I've been working for about 6 months to hone my eating habits and am to the point now where I consume only home prepared meals or fresh produce and no processed snacking. I feel like this IF is a healthy choice for my body. I felt so good compared to my normal sluggish self with my food times being so spread out. I do understand why all of you refer to them as "eating windows" now though. I consumed the roughly 900 calories for my in one sitting tonight and although I don't feel bad, I'm sooo stuffed I couldn't do my workout tonight cause I think I'd burst lol. Lesson learned for tomorrow though... eat in baby steps lol.

So excited to see this! I've been playing with IF off and on, but have had trouble with not being able to focus a couple hours before my eating window. Two weeks ago, I tried again, but using a paleo-style diet. It seems to be working well so far.

Hey everyone. Early mid month weighin this morning because I'm leaving for vacation tonight. I'm down to 226.4! I was 229.2 on the 1st.

It's going to be hard to do IF while I'm on vacation since we'll be doing so much with family, but I'll do my best. I'm completely planning on indulging a little so if possible I might even shorten my window on some days so I can really enjoy a yummy dinner or something. We'll see!

Monique - Congrats on getting your first apartment! You are right; weight loss will be much easier while living by yourself. You can workout anytime you want and you are in complete control as to the food/other temptations you allow in your space. BTW thanks for the encouragement.

TooManyDimples - Enjoy your vacation and your small indulgences! You can worry about the damage, if there's any, when you return.
