FINALLY! I am able to start this today! Since my last post, I have been waking up and wanting to eat. Today, I just had coffee, a bit of creamer, and 2 orange slices, and a strawberry. Since it wasn't that much, I am negateing it and still calling it a fast. I finished eating last night around 9pm and now will start my window at 2-ish pm. I'm so excited to report results! I will workout soon after.

How is everone's weightloss while successfully doing IF each day? I'm curious to see how it's going.

I've been doing The Fast 5 Diet, created by Bert Herring, M.D. I started on March 9th and this is the 60th day and I have lost 17 pounds. The Doctor checks in once and while and talks to people. I do a 5 hour eating window. At first I was losing 3 pounds a week then I plateaued then I started losing 3 pounds a week again. Dr. Herring has a free book online that you can read all about his program. The book and program are free plus he has a 3 or 4 forums where you can talk to others and log your success.

I first started dieting by counting calories and I wondered if I added fasting to the calorie counting would I lose weight faster. I think I am. Now, I'm trying to get started on exercising. The calorie counting is going great, I think I really have that down, the exercising not so much. I love intermittent fasting!

I wish all Good Luck!

Kit

Day 1 was successful! I think I stayed within my caloric needs. Definitely didn't overeat, or felt the need to. I ate a bunch of nuts and peanut butter though. Hmmm, they are healthy though.

I hope to repeat this day tomorrow, but with more fruits and veg.

Thank you Kit in AZ for the details. I have that ebook for Fast 5. I haven't had time to read all of it though.

Just under 4lbs off in one week!! Despite my binge yesterday!
Renewed dedication and optimism...doing condensed feeding window of 5hrs each day except 2 days where I will fast 24hrs. I will keep you all updated!

Bella83--how do you do the 24 hour fast? Just curious in terms of the times you eat the 5 hrs condensed then transition to 24 hour fast, then back to 5 hrs condensed.

I ate breakfast this morning instead of fasting. I wasn't really hungry either. I guess getting in 2 days of consecutive IF will be more challenging than I thought.

Guess it's time for me to add my two cents. I found this thread by mistake when I was looking at the threads about " does this work?". I started the Fast 5 plan on Saturday. Did okay on both Saturday and Sunday ...but did the full 19 hours today..actually made it almost twenty on accident...lol. I didn't even start to feel hungry until about two or so...put it off until four when I was going to eat...but then didn't get a chance to eat until five. So far today is a success. No ill feelings to report. Looking forward to weighing in next Saturday!

In the past I've done WW, South Beach, calorie counting, meal replacements, diet pills. The only one that I consider myself to be successful at is South Beach because I didn't have to count stuff! I hate counting...weighing...tracking...etc. All of that equals way too much time thinking about food! That's one of the big appeals to me about an IF diet....just eat healthy in the window of " opportunity"...then you're done...so nice!

Looking forward to reading more about everyones journies....so keep posting

Hi Beila,

I shift my eating window about depending on either how hungry I am or if I've just come off the 24hrs. It's never really the same 5 hrs...and is sometimes less than 5 hours, but I try to eat two decent meals in this time.

I am on day 6...SIX!!! that is the longest i have ever lasted on a diet so I am massively happy i found this thread!! I am going to weigh myself on day 8 to see how a full 7 days of eating windows has worked for me. ive noticed im not eating enough calories in this amount of time (only about 1000) but because I try and have 2 meals in this window thats all i seem to manage but I am going to up that to at least 1200 next week and see how this affects my weight loss (well i hope ive lost it!)

Ugh...it's not easy to NOT eat in the morning when there is food in your face that you wanna eat. Last week, I lost 2 pounds but still, I need to put more effort into it.

I think I need to create a challenge for myself because I have an issue I need to over come and that is tasting and snacking or even having an occasional cup of sweetened iced coffee when I'm supposed to be fasting. Anyone else do things like that? LOL. I guess I need to start saying things to myself like, "okay, well, eat or drink that if you wanna remain as big as you are..."

I could just move my window but that's just too easy, ya know? I just need to get that self control. I can do it!

Here's a mantra for you Monique...when you're feeling the urge to "cheat".

Being fat is hard. Losing weight is hard. Choose your hard!

Hopefully that helps at least a little! And congrats on the 2 lbs...that is awesome!!!

It's now 11:30, didn't cave to the delicious smell of toast!! I love that smell!! Still going strong, don't feel any hunger pangs yet. They didn't start until about 230 yesterday. Here's to five more hours of fasting!

Entered my calories for yesterday, knew I had gone over. I think I had about 1500 calories yesterday...it was the stinkin' cheese!! Need to up the veggies for today and lower the cheese, that oughta do it! Tracking 5 hours of eating is WAY easier than ALL day of eating....phew!
